How many trips on visa waiver?

Does anyone know how many trips you are allowed into the US on the visa waiver?

You fill in a visa waiver for each visit and there is no limit :)

This is something I've been trying to find more information on too. We have a house there and although we can't spend so much time there at the moment we are hoping that when we retire we will spend a lot of time there. I know you can stay for 90 days at a time on the scheme - but then do you have to be out of the US for a certain time before you can go back in - and is there a maximum time you can spend there each year.

Anyone know?

Something I have always wanted to know.
My Brother is considering buying in Vegas. He mentioned 3 months there 3 at home then 3 in Vegas again. Don't know if thats what he wanted to do or what he is allowed to do.
Hope someone knows the answer.

Hi,
My understanding is that you can spend up to 90 days in any 12 months using Visa Waiver. If you have a Visa it is 6 months in any 12. As far as I know you can come go as you like as long as you don't exceed the limits. Despite a lot of searching I haven't been able to find any written evidence of this on any US government site.

That was my understanding too but I have customers with homes over there and I am sure they go for more than 90 days a year on VMP. I have Googled numerous times to try find answer.

Yes, Mick is correct. With a VWP you are able to stay for 90 days.
You can apply for a B-2 visa which will enable a stay of 6 months, where you have to go to the embassy in London!

Its just I've heard rumours of people being stopped/ refused at POE, for coming and going too many times etc on a VWP.

So, it was really if anyone had any experience of this??

I know they dont stay for more than 90 days but I thought they returned within the year, staying more than 90 days within the year but no more than 90 days at a time. Will have to ask as I was sure they use VWP.:confused3

Hi,
We have entered the US using Visa Waiver 3 times in a 12 month period and had no problems. I found this info. on the Border Protection site http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/business_pleasure/vwp/vwp.xml and it mentions the ability of travelling to the US "spontaneously" as one of the advantages of using VW. So I would take that mean that you can use it as often as you like. One thing I did read was that even if you have a Visa it is still up to the Immigration officer if you are allowed entry or not.

Exactly, after reading over 50 sites relating to this subject including all the official US border control pages, I still find nothing to say you cant return. Not 1 place can I find its 90 days within a year, all say a maximum of 90 days. I am almost certain my customers go for upto 6 months a year on VWP split into different trips not exceding 90 days. Just wish I could find something on the web to say 1 way or the other.

A few friends of ours go out for nearly 90 days on 2/3 trips, and another goes for the full 6 months (with visa), but I have definitely heard of people being stopped, or severely 'questioned' at POE if they have been on a several trips... that is my worry!

To be honest I just thought you could use it as much as you liked, provided you didn't stay longer than 90 days. We used it back in August, then two weeks after our return my son went back across for 6 weeks. He had no problems at all with immigration.

However, I suppose it could be open to abuse if people just returned to UK for a short while then went back for another long holiday over there, which could be termed as living there. I would imagine then immigration would be asking more questions if your length of stay was regularly long to make sure you were not illegally trying to live there. However, I would have thought the vast majority of people would be just going over there once or twice a year for a few weeks because the majority of us are tied to allocated holiday amounts with work.
