Just like a majority of people on this board, i've been lurking around at other people's PJ, TR, and random forums. I've gained so much help from this board alone. So now is the time for me to start our planning journal.

Our Story
We've been together for 6 years now. We first meet the summer after I graduated my sr year of high school. It was at the carnival, DF came to the carnival with my bestfriend's group of friends. I thought he was cute, and thought nothing of it. Then when I got to college, around November, my friend invited me to a youth group meeting, and my DF happened to be there. DF introduced himself again. I told him that I knew who he was and that we meet at the carnival, BUT he didnt remember me... sad huh? but that was the story of my life, nothing too new with that. Then I started spending more time with the youth group and going out with them to dinners and what not. DF brought me to my apartment after one of the many times we all went out to dinner. After that night we talked on the phone, went shopping, watched movies, you know did little things here and there, nothing to big i guess. But it wasn't until an formal dance that brought us together jan. We've been together ever since.

The Proposalprincess:
So for this it was on Sept 10, 2006. We were in california for our second southern california trip. We were there with my brother, sister, sister's boyfriend, cousin, bestfriend, and bestfriend's now exboyfriend. We were in Disneyland, taking a break from riding all the rides. So we all thought it would be the best time to take our pictures in front of the castle. My bestfriend and her now exboyfriend took their pictures, and then my DF and I headed up to take our pictures. My brother took the picture, I was about to start walking away, when he grabbed my hand and i turned to look to see him knee on the ground with a ring box in his other hand. I honestly dont remember what was said i was so in shock, but i can say i remember crying, and shaking my head yes. he put the ring on my finger. but i do remember him saying right after we kissed, "So this does mean yes right?" I guess i never actually said the words yes, but i swear i did. i turned to look at everyone with us, and i remember saying "YOU GUYS ALL KNEW?!?" i mean my bestfriend and i have been planning this trip for so long, i thought i knew everything that was going to happen on this vacation. well anyways, we hugged everyone we were with and made all the phone calls to parents and everyone. it was a truely magical day at disneyland ^_^

Well i just received our Room Block, Value Season - Contract Information - Website Design - Guest List Information. So the ball is rolling. It took us a long time to decide on a date and location, due to us wanting to please our families, it was hard for us to finally choose anything. So my DF and i finally got to the point where we just needed to follow what we know we wanted for our wedding. So we made the call to the disney wedding planners. However since getting engaged i did get my dress, my girls have their dress, and with the help of this board, i've got so many great ideas and have moved along with planning little details.

I would post picture, but i dont know how... what website are you guys loading your pictures on to post up here?

Ceremony: EPCOT - Japan at 9 am
Reception: Atlantic Dance Hall 10am to 2pm (is this time slot long enough?)

Ok, we've received information about the room block, however I have a question to ask you wonderful people.

What are your suggestions about the following resorts?
value: all star movies
moderate: coronado springs
deluxe: contemporary

we are trying to just block off two resorts, but we dont know which two we should pick. we are trying to keep the value resort, just to accomadate our guest price wise, so it's really a debate between coronado, and contemporary. the price difference is $62.00.

Any tips or suggestions?

Hi Mona, Congratulations!! Your proposal story is great and you guys are so cute!

We were at WDW in May 2007 too! Never been to Disney land though.

As far as the room block goes... We picked All Star Music, Port Orleans FQ and Grand Floridian. And we are really really regretting our choices right now. We chose those three because we polled our guests and we selected rooms based on where they said they wanted to stay. NO ONE wanted to stay at ALL Star Movies. We only blocked out a few rooms in that resort. But now that everyone has gotten the save the dates from Disney, with the actual rates (w/tax). EVERYONE wants to stay at All Star Movies. And the one couple (FIL's) who requested Grand Floridian is now staying at Boardwalk. But it really could have gone any number of other ways.

We wanted to stay at Coronado Springs. And we now realize that we shouldn't have listened to our guests and we should have put that hotel in our room block for our benefit.

You got engaged on the same exact day as my DF and I!!! :cool1: How weird is that?? September 10, 2002 was the day we started dating and we got engaged four years later. Congrats on picking such a wonderful wedding date! Your PJ looks great :cloud9:

The room block has been the hardest thing for us to decide on also. We are picking three (one from each of the price ranges of the resorts) All Star Movies, Port Orleans French Quarter and The Boardwalk. We chose the All Star for the money (as this is the least expensive) and I think this one is the most "Disney" out of all the All Stars. We chose Port Orleans as we love this resort and plan on spending a few nights there. We chose The Boardwalk as our Reception will be at Atlantic Dance Hall and as this is right on The Boardwalk we figured it would make it real easy for us and our guests that want to stay there to go back to their room after the Reception. We will be staying there the night before and the night of the wedding.

Where is your wedding and reception going to be? This might help a bit in deciding on hotels.

We have all three hotels that Linda has, plus the Contemporary. Personally, I would rather spend extra to stay at the Contemporary and have monorail access, BUT my guests would all beg to differ, apparently.

I kept hearing on these boards "Our guests surprised us and all booked Deluxes - no one's in our Value resorts" but we found the exact opposite - everyone's at a Value or a Moderate, even though the BoardWalk Inn is where our reception is being held and would be so much more convenient. Then again, many of my guests are coming from California, so their expenses are high already.

I guess what I'm saying is, there's no way to know what people will want! Block all three resorts, but only tell people about the cheaper two, maybe? Then if some people mention they would like to stay someplace nicer, you can spring the Contemporary on 'em!

That's sounds like a good plan! I think that's what we'll do, just tell our guest about the first two and then let others know about Contemporary, if they are interested in staying close to the magic kingdom.

Our reception is going to be at the Atlantic Dance Hall too, hmm maybe we should look into that one too. but yes the room block has to be the hardest part of the whole thing. Did you get a chance to stay at the All Star Movie? I was just wondering how the rooms looked? were they nice?

I think you are right, were just going to have to see what would benefit us, i mean after all guest can book a stay at any resort that they want. ahh well, i think we may go back in may before the wedding to check out the locations and everything.

Misty and Randy have very similar styles, so she is prolly the one to go with if that's what you're going for. I also highly recommend our photographers, The Roots, for their fresh, photojournalistic style (they do traditional portraits too, though ;) ). Here's a link to our engagement pictures:

I was just married 12/27/07. Randy was unavailable for my wedding as well. I found Misty Miotto, she does fantastic work and is affordable. You should check out her website mistymiotto.com, also Disney does not charge an escort fee for her because she does alot of weddings for Disney brides. If you look over her website and would like to view my wedding it Michelle and Jim Wedding, the password is Fischer. I hope I can help.

Hello everyone. all of you are so great in helping us out with planning our wedding. i dont know what we'd do without this board, and those that are on it.

Since I've been looking at different photographers, I was wondering...

If you do that MK photoshoot, do you have to use the disney photographers? Or could we have our photographers from the wedding, do it for them? I was just wondering because for how much it cost, we dont seem to get too many pictures from disney. Oh and if we do get to use our own photographers, is there a fee?

Thanks again i hope your all enjoying your weekend. as it is starting to snow here. But that gives me lots of time to put together samples for invitations and programs. I hate driving in the snow, so I will be staying in.

My colors that I am sticking with for the wedding is a the pink you see on the dress, a semi deep green color, and then chocolate brown.

Here is the dress that my maid of honor and bridesmaid.

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/monana08/BMdress.jpg

Here's what were hoping for the Grooom and Groomsmen, we just hope that someone in our family will end up going to the philippines to get it for us. It's a traditional formal wear from the Philippines, so were going to have it as apart of our wedding.

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/monana08/Barong.jpg

The color of the embroidery will be different for each of the guys in the wedding party. The groom will have a tan/light gold color, the groomsen will have a green color, and the ringbearer will have a pink color to match the ladies in the wedding party.

Where did you ladies look for flowergirl dresses? I am having a hard time looking for dresses for the flowergirls. I know david's bridal has some but i can't justify asking parents to pay 80 to 110 for a little girls dress that more then likely they will only wear once.

Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming Disney wedding! Your plans sound great so far.

I was also in Disney in May of 07 :)

As for your hotel block, I will add that I love the French Quarter. I've stayed there as well as Coronado Springs - both resorts are very lovely. What I appreciated more about FQ was after a busy day in the parks, it was so nice to come back to a quiet resort that wasn't too big in size - short walk from room to anywhere (lobby, food, pool, etc). It is very lovely and quite romantic. We're planning on going back soon.

The men's shirts you are looking for are very nice. A friend of mine is also from the Philippines and her husband also wore one of these shirts to their wedding in Vegas. I believe her mom got it for her in the Philippines. I wonder if you could look into ordering one on-line?

Good luck with your planning! Looking forward to keeping up.

Thanks so much, yeah we were going back and forth for a time with Coronado Springs and FQ, Even though we sent in the room block, I think were going to change it around. We'll see, that part is also up to my DF. But yeah those can be ordered online, but they are EXPENSIVE! When you go to there you can get them made for about 20 to 30 bucks, while online they are 70 to 120 bucks. so thats why we are hoping a family member will be going to there soon. but if not we'll order online and just have to deal with the cost.

LOL did you decide on a wedding photographer as yet? I was just going to put another name in the hat because he too has a similar Randy style and he himself had a VR at Disney so he has good first hand experience:

You're probably gonna hate me for putting another hat in the ring ;)

Thanks so much for the suggestion. I have went on the website to get a quote. So I guess you can say NO, we havent made up our minds about photographer. I dont know why it's so hard to choose one, but I guess I just want to make sure our pictures will look good. Especially since i've always been the person that takes a million pictures during vacations and special occassions. I will keep everyone posted when we finally do pick a photographer.

Well at the start of this whole process, we thought that we would have about 60 guest. However, after looking through our guest list at talking with guest, it sounds like we will have more then we expected.

So what happens if we have more guest then what we told the coordinator? Does that effect our room block? Will we have to redo our room block?

I was really hoping that we'd have less then 60, but hmm.. what can you do? all our guest are family members, and there's only 10 guest that are friends of ours.

did anyone use the disney save the dates?

is it possible for disney to just send us a couple more so that way we can send them to certain people first, and then go on to send the rest of the save the dates to other guest? i know it might sound bad, but we just seriously gotta get our guest count in order.

we really want to cut our list, but we just have a big family. and i am starting to get to the point where i could care less, as long as our wedding party is there, along with our parents, and a few other guest, it doesnt matter if the rest show up, but we do have to invite the rest. Especially because it would be wrong to invite some and not the other. My mom side of the family alone, has 12 brothers and sisters, and so that means on big old family since half of her brothers and sisters, now have kids that have kids of their own.. ahhh sorry, just getting frustrated with guest count.

mla1977
02-09-2008, 10:48 AM
Depending on the age of the kids, you could look into throwing a kids party while you have your reception. I don't know if the kids would count as wedding guests then. If they don't count as wedding guests, it will keep your room minimums down.

The majority of our guest have not been to Disneyworld.. i know it's hard to believe, but it's true, they have not been there. So now it's like they want me to book everything for them.. I mean we haven't even booked everything yet, since we are waiting to hear from the coordinator/planner that we are set and it is no longer a hold on the date and event location.

I need your help once again..

I was wondering if Disney has a list of ministers that they recommend for their weddings? If so when or how do I get that list?

OR better yet, do you wonderful brides/grooms have any suggestions? I'd like to have someone whos open to adding in a small cultural tradition that we do in Filipino weddings. That's really our big concern is making sure that we find someone that doesnt have things set in their ways of how to hold a wedding, and be able to add this part in for us.

Thanks in advance, and Happy soon to be Valentine's Day :lovestruc

Disney will send you extras - we got ours about 2 weeks ago and we must have gotten at least 10 extras. As we find out some people will definately not come we might send out a few additional to some people that we would like to invite but did not want to go over our numbers. We are having our phone planning session this Monday and once we have a better idea of the $$$$ we might up our number a few also.

It's good to know that they will be sending extra ones, I was kinda worried about that. We are doing the same as you. Right now were iniviting those that are family and really close friends, and then depending on the response from the family, we'll go from there to inviting more of the friends that we'd love to have join us as well.

hey mona,

we haven't done a PJ cause I'm just so busy with school... but I guess I should throw something together so everyone can give me any ideas they might have for my wedding... and so you can see another Japan wedding ;) Because I know pics are hard to come by.

We are using rev. Randall Miller... we found him by looking through the wishbook on Disney's wedding website. have you tried that? it lists people that are available for hair and makeup and other little tidbits as well... like where to get your marriage license. You may want to check out his website: www.uniquelyunited.com He just seemed really sweet and he will be familiar with the Japan site after us :goodvibes If you have any questions then feel free to PM me!

Oh man i could not imagine trying to plan a wedding and going to school at the same time. i wish you all the best. but your right it is pretty hard to find pictures of those that have had weddings in Japan. however sometimes i think that's a good thing because it makes it a little more unique since not a lot of people have had their wedding there.
Thanks for the link to Rev. Randall Miller's website. it was a very helpful website, and now were waiting to hear from him. thanks so much for your help.

Here is my dress. I totally love it, and it was the first dress i even tried on. I just couldn't stop smiling when i had it on. so i knew it was the one.

sorry i took the dress picture out, don't want my df to see it, he's starting to look over my shoulder and what not whenever i am on the boards. I gotta make sure he doesnt see it. ^_^

Here are some possible jewlery that i may just wear with the dress.

this is a bracelet, my df got me for valentine's day about 3 years ago, so it will serve as my something old i guess.

this is the necklace that my df got at disneyland california adventure the day after we got engaged, its the one that matches the bracelet.

Love your dress and have really enjoyed reading about all your planning so far. I have a question about your braclete and necklace set. I purchased a necklace that looks just like that one at WDW but it is not Swarovski. I am planning on buying three, one for each of my bridesmaids but I would love to get them a Swarovski one as I feel like it might hold up better. Did you get yours at WDW?

Thanks,
Linda

Hi linda,
thanks so much. I actually got the necklace at Disney's California Adventure, at the store called "Off the Page" in the hollywood picture backlot area. I am not sure if they have it at WDW though, sorry.

We had Pastor Kirk Bane for our ceremony. He is a wonderful man. He did a wonderful ceremony for us. He has a few preplanned ceremonies, that you can alter if you wish; or you can work with him to create something unique. He is very open to your wishes.

If you are looking for someone who is Christian and active in the church too, then you have the right man.

So on this past Thursday night, I got together with my cousin to work on different hairstlyes for the wedding. She's been doing taking care of all my hair needs for SOOOO long. So I am so blessed that she will be able to make the trip to Orlando with us, and be my hairstylist. So here are two possible hair styles that we she thought are good possibilities for the wedding..

Style Number 1

Well let's see.. We soon leave for our planning session. I can't wait! While we are down there we are going to do the pirates and princess party. That will be the first time I've done the special ticket events for any disney theme park.

We've booked the following:

Photographer: http://www.rootography.com/
Videographer: http://www.stvsweddings.com/
Pastor: Pastor Kirk Bane
We've also booked things like flights and hotels.

My sister and I worked on the cover for the programs, and pieces of the invitations as well. I'll take pictures sometime this week and then post them up.

My DF and I are currently working on our menu, and what items we'd like to taste for our menu tasting..

This our menu so far:
Shrimp and chicken spring rolls
Crab cakes
Fruit trays or the fresh island fruit salad
Island Mac Salad (Is this something we could do??)
Croissant (Hawaiian bread rolls if this is possible)

Island barbecued pork ribs
Rice
Stir fry to order or some kind of chow mein
Deep fried turkey breast
Beef Teriyaki

Hardwood smoked bacon
Maple glazed pork sausage links
Eggs and omelet (made-to-order)
Mickey waffles/pancakes
Oven roasted Yukon gold potatoes, Uala Kahiki (Fried Potatoes) - island-style potatoes, caramelized onions & scallions, or asiago mashed potatoes

We still have to check out how much this would cost for this menu. We were wondering if anyone had any alternative suggestions for the deep fried turkey breast and beef teriyaki.

So that's what we've done so far. Any suggestions would be great regarding anything.

Island Mac Salad (Is this something we could do??)

Sure! You can mix and match items from other menus. Or, if this isn't on any menu, you might be able to give Disney a family recipe. :thumbsup2

I bought it from an eBay seller. The quality was good and I saw the same dress (tags and all) in a bridal shop for more. Here's a link: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZzbestbuy6688.

Thanks for all the votes. It looks like hairstyle number one is the winner. I am so glad too. Because it was secretly the one i was leaning towards. My cousin was even talking about adding a little flower on into that hairstyle, I just dont know how she would incorporate it. But i have so much faith in her work. You're very welcome! My niece's dress is the pickup style on the seller's page-- it looked sort of like Belle's dress. I had the sash removed and put a navy sash from David's Bridal on it to match my sash. For what it's worth, my niece destroyed her dress that day! She spilled every substance she got her hands on on the dress. A few weeks ago I decided to throw it in the wash. Every single stain came right out. I gave it to her to use as a dress-up dress now, so it has become a multi-purpose dress.

- it was nice to meet michelle to have a face with all the email and phone converstations.
- i want my BEO
- TOY STORY MANIA!! i love this ride, it totally makes you a little competitive with the people you are with and play against, but it was so much fun.

Alright more pictures to come later on this week. happy sunday all.

This is us in front of WP. You can bearly see it, but the weather was so nice as you can probably tell..

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/monana08/DSCN0340.jpg

I was so excited to go into franck's everything in there was so pretty. and just totally gets you in the mood for a wedding ^_^

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/monana08/DSCN0322.jpg
not to mention they have one of the most comfy chairs ever!! i was in that chair when i took this picture..

So we meet with Michelle, and went through the whole planning i was very impressed on how much she knew about planning a filipino wedding. She made sure we had slots for everything that we needed to take care of in terms of all the filipino customs that we would like to include.

So on to the food, i know everyone is interested in that ^_^. At least i know for sure it was the part my fiance and brother loved.

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/monana08/DSCN0375.jpg
This is the crab cake and chicken/shrimp egg roll.

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/monana08/DSCN0377.jpg
This is the island mac salad. It tasted really good, but i dont like peas, so there will not be peas in my mac salad for the wedding. i love how they cater to your wants. ^_^

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/monana08/DSCN0378.jpg
Next was a oven roasted sweet potato and island style ribs. The ribs were so good, but i totally told them that i would probably not be able to eat ribs in a wedding dress in fear that i would get it all over me. michelle was so funny and said that we may just need to wrap myself with a table linean. but to keep it on the menu since it is probably one of jay's favorite food was the chief suggested that we have a pulled pork. which made him happy.

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/monana08/DSCN0379.jpg
Next was the crusted paramesean chicken, when the cheesiest mashed potato. It was seriously the BEST! Someone on this board suggested that everyone should taste this dish and I am glad we added it. Totatlly yummy!

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/monana08/DSCN0380.jpg
We tired this just because i wanted to see it in person ;) it was yummy. but i did like the chocolate tear drop deal better then the acutal slipper.

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh159/monana08/DSCN0384.jpg
This was a coconut crusted leche flan. it was really yummy, but for us were not going to have the coconut on it because our family is so use the orginal recipe that were afraid they might not like the taste. and we'll jay wasn't quite sure if he like it either. i thought it was a nice twist. oh well.. gotta let him have some say.. just kidding.

We also tired steam rice which didnt taste like anything were use to so were not going to have it at our wedding. The ceasar salad was surprisingly extra good. i didnt expect it to taste too different from what i've had before, however it really did taste different and it was a good different. we also had another oven roasted potato. We also had an island fruit salad. my brother and jay loved the dressing that went over the fruit. i however could not taste it, because i am allergic to banana and it was in the dressing. but they are going to make a different dressing as well so i can have some too.

overall the food was so good that every time they would bring out a plate you'd think that plate was the best food you ever had. and then when they brought out another dish, that was the best food, and you'd forget about the other dish.

So now the long wait for the BEO.

We just got our BEO, oh man without our floral estimates and our dessert party menu added, it's already at $16,328.

The price includes:
60 guest
2 limos
1 charter bus
Epcot Japan location
Atlantic Dance Hall for reception
our cake $1049.03 alone
soft drink/bottled water package
DJ
1 bottle of cider
Bill on consumption bar fees
custom brunch at 75/person
cake
mickey/minnie
dessert party fee site
dessert party viewing fee
setup charge

Ok so why is our cake seriously that much?? i mean we got the mad hatter style, and according to our pricing guide it's suppose to be $450.

What did everyone do to cut the cost of drinks? the soft drink/bottled water package is kinda expensive, i mean it is just drinks.

Any tips that people could give me to help cut some of the cost would be great. we really want to keep mickey and minnie, and the dessert party.

oh and here's our menu...

island fruit salad, fruit tossed with coconut with banana dipping cream or mango papaya dipping cream

made to order mickey mouse waffles

cook to order omelets

hickory smoked bacon

yukon gold potatoes

caesar salad

hawaiian mac salad

spring rolls

crab cakes

island inspired pulled pork and warm king bread

grilled mahi mahi with pineapple poblano salsa

island style roasted sweet potatoes

parmesan crusted breast of chicken, laced with mushroom cream and accompanied by asiago cheese infused mashed potatoes

cooke to order vegetable stir fry

coconut flan

chocolate teardrop filled with dark chocolate mousse

hmm now that i am looking at it i think we may have to much on our menu..

450 is for the 2 tier mad hatter! its 950 plus tax for the 3 tier

The 2 tire one only feeds 50 so thats why you have the 3 tier one

Oh, WOW! The first thing I would suggest is to eliminate several of your entrees. I would think that the mahi mahi is expensive and it seems that a pork, seafood, chicken and stir-fry are too many choices. Are they all being served at one event? Maybe eliminating the stir fry would bring the price down considerably since that is an action station. PLUS, I think you could do with one or two less sides or appetizers. Finally, if you are having a fabulous wedding cake, do you need the mousse teardrop? I think that may also be a cost you could eliminate.
Good luck! I know it is hard to make all those choices and then eliminate them.

ohh, so man we bearly missed having a 2 tier, thanks for the info, i was afraid it was just all fees, that they had place on the cake that made the price more..

Everything you suggested it what my brother, who went with us to the tasting said we should eliminate. It's going to be a buffet.

So do you think that we'd be able to make arrangements for our one guest that is vegetarian?

How did everyone include drinks to their menu? did you do the soda, and water bottle choice? To me, i think that sodas, are not necessary. Do they have another choice?

My DF wants to have a bar of some kind. I think it's totally a waste, i mean our reception is 10am to 2pm, and since were from seattle, our bodies are in 7am to 11am. But he wants it there, because he says well some of us will have been in wdw for about half a week and probably adjust to the time so drinking around noon to 2pm isn't harsh. Any suggestions on how to make that doable, but not so expensive either?

I would definitely recommend doing the soda and water as bill on consumption. We did the package and it was a complete waste of money.

Also, a HUGE way to save money would be to drop the bar. You are right - most people do not expect hard liquor between 10 and 2. Maybe if your DF sees how much it would save, he'll be more amenable to the idea.

And if he's really set on having some liquor, you could do the beer and wine bar or just a signature cocktail. Alternatively, you could buy your own alcohol and just pay the corkage and service fee - it would still be less than Disney charges.

Wow!! It's been a while since I've been over to check out your PJ. Your invites look great! I love all the extra Disney touches! That sucks about your BEO! It must be so hard to pick things to cut out. If your DF really wants some liquor maybe do a bellini or mimosa? Those are morning drinks althought the champagne may make them expensive. Good luck!!!

Don't quote me on this but I thought they could do a two tier cake and then a tray of cake so you have enough cake for your guests and they won't know the difference as the cake is taken away to be cut. If they do do this it may save you some money.

Absolutely -- I'd bet your vegetarian guest would like many of the sides, etc. and your WP can give you suggestions of an entree that they'd prepare just for that guest. I don't think it would be a problem at all.

I agree with the previous posters who suggested that mimosas or bellinis or both would be nice options for that time of day. Because they are only part champagne, they shouldn't be too expensive. And Carrie's idea of doing bill on consumption for sodas & water (and possibly juice) would probably be less expensive in the end.

Good luck!

First of all - love the invites and love the Tink on the front. Is that a stamp or did you print that on the envelope.

As far as drinks go - we are wondering what to do about that also. We are having a morning ceremony and our reception will be in ADH from 10:00 to 3:00. We are thinking of a signature drink during the cocktail hour and then a BOC for he rest of the day. I agree that most people will not want hard liquor that early in the morning but by the time the food is over I am sure around 1:00 or 2:00 they will want some drinks. I also feel that as everyone will be traveling from the NY/NJ area we need to offer them something for making the trip. I really do not feel think that they will start drinking until later in the day.

I am going to have to look into that, It just seems odd to have a buffet, and then have one person get served plate. But I dont want to leave him out food wise, so it'll have to work.

The tinker bell on the front was a stamp. I used this shimmer silver ink, and i had another stamp to add more "pixie dust around her.

But yea the drink issue is kinda tricky.

Ohh, i didnt even think about bringing our own liquor. that might be a big help. Thanks for the suggestion. you wouldn't happen to remember how much the corkage and service fee is??

lurkyloo
07-10-2008, 03:42 PM
The corkage fee is 50 cents per bottle or can for beer, soft drinks, and water and $20 per bottle for liquor and wine. Liquor also gets a $2.50 per drink charge to cover mixers, ice, and garnishes.

While the corkage fee applies to all beverages brought to the event, Disney assesses a 21% service charge only on beverages opened at the event. The charge is calculated based on Disney’s retail price for each beverage, not the price you bought it for.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

I've just found your PJ and I'm really liking your choices - have to say I love the invites and the response cards - why didn't I think of something that efficient?!

For your own sanity, I'd just do the bill on consumption. As long as you spend $500 on all your beverages (not that hard to do with 60+ people) you won't pay bartender fees or anything, and that way you can offer alcohol, but you won't have to pay for it if no one drinks it - you both win!! :thumbsup2 Bringing in your own makes for one more errand and stress that you don't need for your wedding trying to figure out how much of everything to buy, transporting it, and what to do with extra!

Oh, and I almost forgot - DH and I also LOVED the Caesar salad they made for us at our EPCOT tasting. The best part was the fried cheese ravioli croutons - did you have those? I have to say as good as the salad was, they were even better!! I really wish that I knew if there was somewhere in EPCOT that I could get that salad!!!

Like the rest of the ladies said, i would eliminate alot of the menu items. I would keep it simple. Also do boc with sodas and water. Also, if you do havea dessert party, maybe you can serve alcohol there? maybe a signature drink or a boc or something. The dp isn't very long, so your bill wont be too high. Hope it all works out for ya!

warning, a little venting going on here....

I know it might be a little premature, but we mailed out those invitations like two weeks ago. The RSVP cards are due this coming friday the 18th. And as of right now, i have only 9 cards out of 87 that have come in. And it's kind of annoying because i understand that some have told me they are coming, but is it really hard to mail or hand me the card?? and when i have talked to some and told them that yeah they need to send it, they act all surprised that i am making them mail out the RSVP card. but as far as i am concerned, if i dont have your card, your not coming.

Is that harsh?? i don't know i don't think it's too hard to just mail the dang things. even if they cant make it it would be nice to know. ahh.. well i bet just about every bride goes through this disney wedding or not. :sad2:

on another note:

i have contacted our wedding planner and gave her changes that we are interested in and added which dessert party menu we wanted.
we've booked our stay for after the wedding
we've booked our flight from mco to las vegas. after vegas we head home to seattle
we've decided the majority of our schedule in terms of what parks we'd like to visit
we've made all the adr at resturants we'd like to eat at
i have made our guestbook pages, they will need to be printed, and i'll post up pictures of that as soon as that's done
we only need to make 6 more ribbon leis, to cover how many guest i think will be attending

All that left:

wait for rsvp cards
wait for updated BEO
wait for floral part of BEO
print out program, put them together, maybe next weekend
we may have to rethink doing a rehearsal dinner, it's been tough finding a resturant to hold as many people as we need
probably more stuff, but that's all i can think of for right now

we have less then two months to go..

Well here is what’s been going on since I’ve last posted.
After long conversations about what do to about the drink issue. It appears that we are going to do BOC. I am really nervous about that, and I am going to ask if it’s possible that our guest just buy their own drinks. I just know that everyone drinks more when it’s free, I know I do…
Here are some projects we’ve been working on since I’ve last been on here…

I don’t think I’ve shown my inspiration for my bouquet, so here it is. But mine’s won’t have all that white ribbon
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/bridal-bouquet.jpg

My bridesmaid/MOH are no longer going to have bouquet, I’ve decided this would look a whole lot better, especially since we will be in Japan for the ceremony.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/parasol.jpg

This is also going to be the bridesmaids/MOH hairpieces.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0756.jpg
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0762.jpg

This is from Hawaii my DF got it for our dads to wear it’s a kukui nut lei
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0764.jpg
This is the one the groomsmen will be wearing
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0765.jpg

Here is my shoes for the ceremony, it’s my chance to wear the pink I love so much. Plus I got a great deal, they were $12 at Nordstrom rack, then I added my own little jewels.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0778.jpg
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0772.jpg

I am a huge scrapbook fan, so instead of getting a regular guestbook, I decided to make my own. I saw something like this from another disbride, so I took it and used some of the same elements, added some Disney couples. I also left a space were a 4x6 picture can fit, and I hope I will be able to have a picture of the guest signing the page.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0784.jpg
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0785.jpg

Now this is the part I will need all of your wonderful help.. choosing music is so hard.. my df and I just have some different styles in music. So I want him to be able to have the things he wants, so here’s what we’ve got so far….
Guest Seating (I still have more to pick.. Any suggestions?)
“A dream is a wish” Jim Brickman
Parents/sponsor entrance: Orchestral Suite From The Lizzie McGuire Movie (Score) - The Lizzie McGuire Movie Soundtrack
The male entrance: He’s a pirate from pirates of the Caribbean original soundtrack (can you tell that’s totally my DF’s choice) http://www.amazon.com/Pirates-Of-The-Caribbean/dp/B0013AZLP0/ref=sr_f3_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1217386738&sr=103-1 track 15
The Female entrance: “When you wish upon a star” Jim Brickman
Bride and Father of the bride: NOTHING>>>>> I cannot decide any suggestions????
Sand Ceremony: The prayer in tagalong (Ang Akin Dasal)
Recessional: “The throne room”-Starwars Episode IV (again DF’s choice)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSZB0NjRqzc

I totally think picking the music has been kinda tricky, well besides the whole BOC vs package, or any other option related to drinks.

You can do a cash bar where guests pay for their own drinks. You will just have to pay to have a bartender and a cashier. Not sure how much the cashier is, but I think the bartender is $100.

Girl you are all soo beautiful :)

I love the parasol and flowers!!!!!!!
Aww your so sweet. Thanks.

Your wedding band is beautiful!!
Thank you I was so excited to get the ring, I swear it took forever for them to mail it to us, but it was like 3 days.

Your wedding band is exquisite! How romantic that he picked it out for you! And I love how he's helped pick up items, like the hair flowers. What a sweetheart! You two are absolutely darling!

Aww.. thanks. He honestly has been so helpful.. i dont know how everything could've been done if he didnt do what he does to make sure we get things done for the wedding.

I love the wedding band, it's so unique.

My take on the whole open bar thing is we need to have one. I come from a big family of eaters (can you tell) and drinkers.

You think listing your registry on an invite is an etiquette faux-pas? Not with my family. The biggest mistake you can make is not having enough food or drink, and a cash bar is always looked down on. However, people would certainly get over it soon enough if they had to pay for a few drinks.

28 days away!!!

I am getting SOOOO excited.. and a little nervous, i just don't want to forget anything. so here's the final things we need to do:
- put together the programs
- pack items that i can
- buy mother's gifts (everyone else we have)
- buy my groom a gift
- call nathan (photographer) to finalize plans for the day
- send bonnie (videographer) our pictures for the video as well as music preferrance
- i am currrently waiting to hear from our pastor in regards to the wedding rehearsal
- i have to figure out what to do about my make up, but it sounds like i might have a cousin that is able to do it for me ^_^ yay!

NOW: what else am I missing that comes up last minute that I am not seeing for some reason?? any tips??

Just to update on the never ending drink issues:
Alright so for the drink issue, after taking everything into consideration here's what we've decided. We are doing a cash bar. i know it's not usually something that is done, but we didn't want to give up the dessert party and the characters coming to our reception. So that's how that went.

were moving closer and closer to our wedding date, and all i can say is i hope it comes quickly just cuz i am too excited. I feel like that disney commerical where the parents tell the kids to sleep, and they respond by saying were too excited to sleep. and then so does that husband. because they are about to go on a disney vacation.. ahh well.. that's just me.

Sounds like you're right on track. For me the closer it got the less motivation I had to get anything done - I have no idea why as normally I get more motivation. We went to bed at like 9pm the night before we left and both slept fine :confused3

Alright so our wedding has been a little over 3 months ago. But with adjusting to marry life and having computer issues. I haven't had much time to update. But this snow/icy storm that just hit Seattle left me home from work today, with time to tell our fairy tale wedding story!
Here’s the logistics of our wedding
The ceremony location is at EPCOT – Japanese Garden just in front of the garden
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0390_0941.jpg
The reception location at Atlantic Dance Hall
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0837_2039.jpg
The Dessert Party at Hollywood Studios; Fantasmic!
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/Sep102008_0074.jpg
We had 48 guest total (including the wedding party)
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/1206_2948_cp.jpg
Here’s our wedding party:
2 maid of honor
1 best man
3 bridesmaids and groomsmen
1 flower girl
1 ring bearer
1 coin bearer
2 cord sponsors
2 veil sponsors

We left Seattle on Saturday night of the 6th, to give us plenty of time to get things ready before the wedding. Well to tell you the truth, there wasn’t much for me to do once we got to Orlando, but that’s beside the point. I really just wanted us to get there as soon as possible. We were on the same flight as my maid of honor and her boyfriend, jay’s sister, husband, and their son.
Here’s a picture of us on the plane
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0856.jpg
Here’s a picture of Jay’s sister (bridesmaid), husband (code sponsor), and their son (our ring bearer)
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0857.jpg
I felt so bad for their son; he was about a month shy of being a year old he’s actually been on a number of flights, but it just seem like he was so uncomfortable. I think that the whole red eye flight did not work well for his sleep schedule.

Once we got to Orlando, we split up to go to our resort. We meet up for lunch at Chef Mickey’s. I love that place! It was so much fun. Plus it was just great to be with jay’s family enjoying good food, good company, and the Disney magic, of characters with your meal!
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN0886.jpg
Here’s a random picture of jay and I going to meet my best friend and maid of honor and her boyfriend for lunch at Cinderella’s castle. GOOD food by the way. Plus if you’re a princess fan this is the place to be.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/image0020.jpg
I lied when I said there was nothing for me to really do wedding related before the wedding. Monday before the wedding we headed early to the court house for our license. I think that’s when it started to really feel like “oh man, were getting close to being married”. Afterwards we headed to Costco to buy a few items for gift bags, and also some snacks for the theme park ^_^. Then on Monday night jay went out with the guys to do whatever they do. While they were gone, I put together the gift bags for our wedding party.
We had a rehearsal the morning before the wedding on the 9th. However I don’t have any pictures from it. Jay’s cousin does, and hopefully I’ll get copies soon. But it was at the boardwalk conference center. We did not have a rehearsal meal with our wedding party because a good number of our wedding party actually arrived the night before the wedding. So we decided that the dessert party would be our time to just thank them. Gifts were given to those at the rehearsal and everyone else at other times.

So the night before the wedding hurricane IKE was passing through so it just kept pouring down rain. I wouldn’t let it bother me, so I went to sleep. You know some people say it’s hard to sleep the night before the wedding. But I really had no problem. Maybe it’s the four days prior of going the different theme parks, or just that I felt Michelle (our wedding planner) had everything under control. Either way I had a good night sleep. Until about 4 am when my cousin who did my hair and makeup woke me up.
Here’s my cousin starting the magic that would be my hair for the wedding.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN1029.jpg
Here’s the side view of my hair.

Here’s my cousin working on getting my makeup right.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0086_0162.jpg
While everyone was in my room getting ready, my mom was busy getting our breakfast ready for all to enjoy. She was so awesome. My mom and dad stayed on a resort off the Disney property because they had a time share deal. So they woke up early and cooked eggs, bacon, spam, and rice for the wedding party to enjoy before the wedding. So that’s breakfast for about 15 people. Plus get ready.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/DSCN1030.jpg
While all of this was going on, my dad realizes that they forgot to pack his shoes for the wedding. Now mind you we had to be ready to leave the resort at 800am in order to take pictures before the wedding. So his choices were limited for where he could get shoes. I didn’t want to worry about what he was going to do. So I just thought he was going to borrow my sister’s boyfriend’s shoes, because that was the last thing I heard. Later I learned he headed out to a 24 hour Wal-Mart and just got shoes from there.
We finally got ready and headed out to EPCOT Japan. ^_^. Here’s a number of pictures we took before the wedding.
Riding the limo into the EPCOT area was so princess diary like. It was just so exciting. That’s what I started to really feel all princesses like.

A close up look at my bouquet. FYI this bouquet cost me 165 dollars.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0157_0366.jpg
Here’s a picture of part of my entrance to the ceremony. I took the long walk where we went around the bridges above the pond and down by the temple around the back of the guest and down towards jay. It was a pretty long walk, but it was my time you know ^_^.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0362_0877.jpg
My bridesmaids and maid of honors had these parasols rather than bouquets. We saved a ton! I mean the parasols we got for like 4 bucks a piece and well flowers, you all know how much those are from the Disney florist. Other floral savings for us was that the guys used Kukui nut necklaces that Jay got while he was in Hawaii for his grandmother’s funeral. We had some leis made certain wedding party members. Jay’s (the groom’s lei) was 65 dollars. Our parents leis were 26 dollars.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0405_0962.jpg
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0596_1374_cp.jpg
There is a story behind this picture. You see my DH is a huge star wars fan! I mean huge! Well So when we were picking music for the ceremony and the reception, he really wanted to add a star wars song to the wedding somewhere. So I being the loving and compromising DW said alright you can pick it for the song we walk out to. So he chooses this song…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUiXiNF3u6A
So at the rehearsal jay was humming it while everyone was walking out, but no one thought that it would seriously be the song they would be walking out to during the ceremony. So as it was playing that’s when the photographer took this picture.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0533_1208_cp.jpg

Thanks your so sweet! We ordered the parasols online at http://asianideas.com/ The prices are super reasonable and we got it fairly quickly. It took about a week to get them.

It was your planning journal that helped me decide for sure that I wanted to go with the parasols vs flowers. You see we spent all this time going to various asian markets around seattle, but they were all around 20 dollars a parasol. Don't get me wrong it's a lot cheaper then flowers, but that was one more thing I would have to make sure to bring for the wedding. However it was the link that provided that made it super affordable, and hands down easy for me to just go with the parasols.
We got to ride into the World Showcase too because I was running a little late getting my makeup done. But it worked out for the best, because that was really the reason why I felt all princess like too.

Hi Linda,
I totally love looking at everyones Epcot ceremony too. I actaully got that bracelet as a valentine's day gift like 4 years ago from my DH. But it's from swarovski and I know he got it at the store in the mall.

Everything looks great! LOVE the colors!

Thanks so much! You know what's so funny I totally love pink as a color, but there's a story to why i choose green and brown as accent colors as well. After we got engaged we went to San Diego to visit my extended family there. Well while we were there, we went shopping and I found a totally cute Roxy tote that had those colors on there. That's when I said this is going to be the colors for our wedding

So we had 4 hours at the Atlantic Dance Hall.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0837_2039.jpg
Here’s our cake, a 3 tier mad hatter style cake. It was amazing. I almost didn’t want to cut it. However I remembered how good the cake inside was during the tasting that I just couldn’t wait to taste it again. We had the bottom and top layer of chocolate cake and bailey’s mousse filling and the middle layer with yellow cake and tropical mousse filling.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0844_2058.jpg
Here’s our centerpiece. We just wanted something simple. This centerpiece was also used at the dessert party.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0843_2057.jpg
We had two favors. One was a floating rose candle wrapped in twill and ribbon tied with a gift tag. Then we also had these which were 3.50 a piece for our guest to enjoy. They are marshmallow covered in either white or milk chocolate and they had Mickey shaped straws as the holder of it.
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o336/jaymo206/0841_2053.jpg
Here’s some of the food.

Here’s our menu:
Our pre-reception we had coffee, fruit punch, and assortment of freshly baked breakfast pastries, like croissants, muffins, and cinnamon buns
Here’s our buffet menu:
Island fruit salad- fresh fruits toasted coconut with banana dipping cream and mango-papaya dipping cream
Made to order Mickey Mouse waffles with a choice of warm blueberry, strawberry and banana foster toppings
Hickory smoked bacon
Caesar salad with crisp romaine, creamy Caesar dressing, shaved parmesan and toasty herb triangles
Hawaiian Macaroni Salad
Spring rolls, we had different choices shrimp, vegetable, or chicken along with sweet chile or ginger soy dipping
Parmesan crusted breast of chicken laced with mushroom cream and asiago cheese infused mashed potatoes
We had coffee, tea, water, and the fruit punch. However we did have a cash bar, as well as bill on consumption for soda.
The total for the meal was $50/adult and $25/child. The children had the same food we did, so no special menu changes.
We had Mickey and Minnie attend our wedding. We couldn’t have a wedding without them.

Here was the best picture that captured the look on just about everyone’s face when they saw Mickey and Minnie enters the dance floor.

Here’s the last shot at Atlantic Dance Hall with All the cousins on my mom’s side that were able to make it to the wedding. Believe me we did miss the other cousins that could not make it.

I had the best time at the reception that I didn’t even realize that it started to rain again. When were getting ready to leave the hall I just saw the rain and said oh well! We had the ceremony and reception of a life time. And now that it’s raining it doesn’t bother me one bit. My photographer Jensey bless her heart gave me a Disney poncho to wear over my dress. It was so nice of her to do.
Here’s shot of our bus back to the hotel:

Here’s my sister and her boyfriend with the wishing well with our all our wedding gifts inside the bus.

So after the reception we went back to Coronado Springs Resort this is where we first started our day. We went there to collect our things to head Polynesian Resort. Oh my gosh I felt so spoiled staying there! It was so nice and comfortable. So it rained all afternoon. We were waiting for Michelle our WP to inform us of what would happen to our dessert party. I thought for sure it would be cancelled. She called us around 4pm to let us know that we are going to have our dessert party as scheduled! I was amazed when she said that because it was still raining. Granted the rain wasn’t has hard as earlier when we left the reception however it was pretty steady. So I texted all our guest to let them know to meet us at Hollywood Studios in time to meet our CM that was going to take us to the site.
So at 630pm we headed off to the Hollywood Studios, and I swear the moment we pulled out of the Polynesian Resort parting lot it POURED!! I mean there was no end that I could see. We got to the Hollywood studio parking lot and it was just a great big puddle. Again I called to make sure it was still happening, Michelle assured me that it would be happening so sit tight we will be having an outdoor dessert party in time to watch Fantasmic!

:cool1: How neat, I'm so glad I was able to help you out. I know how much it meant to me when I got so much help from previous Dis Brides while I was in the planning process. I'm glad that I was able to help some brides that came after me :goodvibes

I love your marshmallow favors, how cute with the Mickey straws. It looks like all your guests had a great time! The food looked so yummy and your cake was really pretty. I love the Mickey rhinestones on your shoes too!
Looking forward to reading more.

Thanks those pink shoes were suck a good deal. I got them at nordstrom rack, they were like 12 bucks, it's because there were bows on top all stained and looked like they were falling apart. My sister helped me take the bows off. Afterwards i bought rhinestones from Michaels craft store, and made the little mickeys.
But I really do thank you i apperciate all the brides that post on here, it really does help. I don't know if i could've plan my wedding as well without the advice and ideas from this board.

Here’s our centerpiece. We just wanted something simple. This centerpiece was also used at the dessert party.

Can you tell me more about your centerpieces?? Is it just colored water? How are the Mickey heads kept floating? I really like these!

They were triple cylinder vase set filled with gel in light pink, silver Mickey confetti swirled through-out. Top with dark pink dendrobium orchid blooms. Then at the dessert party, they added LED lights to the bottome of them.

I am sorry I've been away for awhile. I've been working more hours so we can save up more money for our disneyworld 2nd honeymoon trip in May. We are getting the most use out of our annual pass ^_^

This was a last minute add on to our wedding plans. Well we wanted it from the start however we were worried about our budget. So we were unsure if we were going to have this part of our wedding event. Well our guest count wasn’t as large as we first thought so this is our saving grace for why we were able to have this event. I am really glad we did. It was so much fun!
Ok so with rain concerns, we were really unsure it would even happen. But it all worked out in our favor. We did have on small hitch; we didn’t get to go to the site until about 30mins after it was originally planned. But other than that everything looked great. And if it was something out of a story book, there was not a drop of rain for the rest of the night! And that was a miracle because seriously when we first got to Hollywood Studios’ parking lot, it was raining so hard that the puddles were just like shallow lakes across the lot.
We kept our décor simple. The dessert able just had a Mickey and Minnie stuff animal in the center. The entire table had black linen with the center piece from our reception brought to the dessert party.

Our dessert party cost $20 per guest the menu included:
Assorted miniature cakes and bar cakes
Double chocolate brownies, blondies, crisped rice treats, and assorted freshly baked cookies
Seasonal fruit display
White and dark chocolate pretzels
Coffee, decaf coffee, hot tea, ice tea, and water.
Here’s some random picture of everyone at their table.

Everyone loved the show of course. The part that was also an added bonus, was that we did stay at the park taking pictures in front of Mickey's hat and along the shops. There was a number of our guest that also did go shopping at the gift shops all along the entrance of Hollywood Studios.

So Here's a summary of our wedding:
Ceremony: Japanese Garden in Epcot
Reception: Atlantic Dance Hall, Brunch Buffet, with Mickey and Minnie
Dessert Party: Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios
Videographer: STVS Video (Stan and Bonnie)
Photographer: Rootography (Nathan and Jensey)
Florist: Laura Kidd
Wedding planner: Michelle Gihooly
Priest: Pastor Kirk Bane

So to sum up our wedding story I would have to say it was a magical miracle. It was everything we wanted plus we had the weather on our side.

What can we say it was truly a dream come true!
