It's just a nickname followers of the DIS Unplugged podcast use. The podcasts are done weekly and usually have two segments...one is current news, activities, etc. involving Disney, the other is listener emails/voicemails where we can ask more specific questions about trip planning and what-not. It's always very informative and very fun!

I'm also on this cruise.
There are several topics about this cruise at this point, but for me there can't be enough topics.....

We are going on a 7 day western in may 2008 and then one year after returning to Port Canaveral we are going on this cruise...
Please let it soon be maay 2008 and then let us just skip the months inbetween.........

At the pase that the cruise is filling with podsqadders i think lets say about 250 people will go.....

If you booked directly thru Disney you should still look into transferring your reservation to DU as you will qualify for some onboard credits that you could use for shore excursions, etc. Also, we don't know what all the Podcast crew will have planned for us yet, but it may still be some things you'd be interested in. The travel agent @ DU that's handling all of this for the cruise is winotracy on the DISboards...just send her a PM and she'll be able to give you more info. I think you should book through DU and maybe join us for some things if possible. The more the merrier. If you don't book through DU and you get there you might see how much fun you are missing out on. If you book and it doesn't work out, you'd be missed, but people would understand.

If you book thru DU you have more onboard credits so that's just extra savings plus you get all the goodies because it's the podcast cruise.

And you don't have to attent to all extra's, you're allowed to.

They're basically these "pockets" people make and hang from the decorative fish they have by the stateroom door. Then when groups get together (like the Podcast cruise, etc) a lot of people will bring little gifts for each other and put them in the pocket. I haven't cruised with DCL in a very long time but am looking forward to our cruise in May and have already been trying to think of some little surprises from the Pacific Northwest.

Just look on the DCL board or google "fish extender" and you'll see some examples.

I lived in Indy/Brownsburg for 10 years before moving to New Orleans. And grew up in southern Indiana. So we took a long weekend to visit. Stayed at the Crowne in a train car and just kinda hung out. Had to get me a St Elmo's shrimp cocktail.....mmmmmm

We did not book through DU as I have a travel agent I have been working with for several trips and want to give her the commission, not to mention I was not aware of the Dis Podcast Event going on when we booked a couple of days ago. Anyway, it was suggested that I come over here and see if there were other girls (age 11+/-) going on this cruise. I know Madi100 has a DD11. Anyone else? Not sure how they 'meet' before the cruise but I'm sure someone will fill me in. If a pre-cruise 'meet' doesn't work out for her, I'll make sure she checks out the Oceaneer Lab the first day so she'll have a better chance of making a friend. Would really like her to have a bit of freedom on this cruise but don't want her roaming around alone. :scared:

we were thinking of going the start of our trip but decided on the end to wind down.

Low and behold it's a podsquad cruise :)

admittedly I haven't heard the podcasts for a few months so I knew nothing about this cruise.

That said I have a couple of questions before we commit to booking.

is there someone we need to book through to get the dis rate?
is there a dis meeting once on board

To book and be part of the Podcast cruise you must book through Dreams Unlimited Travel. https://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/cruise/podcast-cruise-pricing.cfm Tracy will be your agent, she is handling the cruise.

The podcasters have planned some events for us. The only one that they have some detail on (since Disney won't cement their plans) is a Palo Brunch for all the DIS Board Podcast Cruisers. It will be for everyone, not just over 18. It will not however, be inside Palo. I will look up and see which podcast they did specifically for the cruise. That might help some. &&Found it. November 12, 2008. It took the place of the e-mail show. It isn't too long, I would suggest it. ::yes::

You should come say hello to us on the other thread for this cruise, on the Podcast board. I am also a first time cruiser (Disney and otherwise) and have had my fears/worries/questions answered by the other DISers.

Unfortunately, no. It must be booked thru DU.

Put in a request and see what it ends up being. The group pricing is less than Disney's prices so you might not be looking at something the same. The pricing that you see is just sample pricing. You don't mention if you have kids and ages can change the pricing. If you are looking for a category that isn't available on the form, just put a note in the special requests with your name and we'll see what we come up with. Worst case, the pricing will be the same as Disney. Best case, it will be less.

How do I register for the kids club thing? is it done early or when we get on board?

is there a thread or site i should go to to learn more about the cruise, things to do, take, be aware of?

You can preregister the kids when your date to make excursions, Palo, etc. If this is your first Disney Cruise, it would be February 24. They are guaranteed in the kids club, but you have to fill out information about them for the counselors and if you don't do it before you arrive, you will need to do it when you board.

If you book thru DU you have more onboard credits so that's just extra savings plus you get all the goodies because it's the podcast cruise.

And you don't have to attent to all extra's, you're allowed to.

I didn't want to think about the cruise and get killed by anticipation...but it's less than 90 days now so it's time to psych myself up!

My name is Paul, and I'll be joined on this cruise with 3 other friends, Ronald, Shamus and Patric. It's Ronald's pre-engagement party cruise (well yeah, it's just an excuse but a darn good one!). We'll be hard to miss because we're Chinese Canadians (a rarity in Florida ever since the trainees for HK Disneyland went back home!) and a couple of us are 6 feet and over.

Hmm...it'll be my 5th Cruise, Ronald's 4th, Shamus' gazillion, and Patric's 2nd. Only Ronald and I have cruised Disney before.

Anyway, just wanna say hello, and I'll probably be writing a trip report when we're done (no promises though because I get pretty lazy!).

Bummer about missing spring training, but WOO WHOO on a cruise!!! We have a great group going with a lot of first time cruisers. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Our group is organized through here on the DIS and hosted by the PodCast crew. Like Tracy said, there is a huge thread on the Podcast Board about it.

It looks like there are a couple of us that weren't able to book through DU. We are using DVC points for the cruise. I'm sure we will all have a wonderful time. This is our 4th DCL cruise and we find that we usually only make it to the first meet on a cruise anyway. We are usually too busy doing cruise activites or lounging by the pool. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time! :thumbsup2
