Any updates on the Poly Repair work?

Has anybody seen the GCH lobby lately? How does the repair work appear to be progressing? Pictures would be great!

It's not very attractive right now. Disney usually does a good job in walling off rehab areas, but in this case they have chosen to just drape the entire waterfall area in the center of the lobby with opaque plastic sheeting. Unfortunately, it's the first thing you see when entering the lobby.

The water pond areas outside the front entrance have also been drained and there is rehab work going on there.

Does anyone know when the work is supposed to be complete?

There is no completion date yet. I will let you know when I get one.

We're planning a trip in May... a special trip. I had no idea about the rehab, and the concierge cast members said nothing (I didn't ask either!) I sure hope it gets done quickly.

What are they re-doing? The lobby looked fine in October when we were there.

i hear that the pumps were broken and couldnt be repaired due to age.

I cant see why it would take so long to pull these old pumps and replace them with new , im sure smaler and more gpm, modern pumps.
but then im not an engineer.

They are replacing most of the inner pipes as well as some of the pumps. They have never been worked on since the initial construction in 1970.

Just returned from Poly.
Work is still being done. Looks as if they are starting to rebuild the fountain at this point. Hopefully it'll be done soon. I don't know when though. Bummer was when we arrived at the Poly, the ponds in the arrival area were empty due to the work being done inside. That was more disappointing than the fountain not working.
