Ok I have never been a fan of stand alone storage devices(for photo use) mostly because I felt that they were priced too high, at the previous price levels I felt buying a cheap laptop was always a better deal.
But now that some of these devices are being sold at under $100, I might be willing to pay extra(since I have a laptop) for the small dedicated vacation photo back up/storage device.
Just wondering if anyone has ever tried this one.

I just wish it was solid state memory, and not a hard drive.

Solid state would be nice, but then it would cost so much more and have much lower storage capacity. I have not seen any 120gb solid state memory devices, and if such a device did exist it would not sell for under $100 as this does.

I haven't tried the one pictured here but my wife and I have had ours for a couple of years now (3 devices). They have worked flawlessly (except that my wife's CF card was put in wrong and bent the pins in the device). The HDs have not even hicupped. They are used nearly everyday because they also play music and videos.

Well I went ahead and ordered one...
If anyone is interested BHPHOTO has the 120gb version for $60, but please do not post this deal on Fatwallet/slickdeals or anyother hot deal site. I dont want these to sell out in five minutes and end up on EBAY. I would rather fellow DIS photographers put them to good use.

Why are they selling them for $60.00 when the regular price is $159.00? They must be clearing out old stock for a new model.

Thanks for the tip. I have also recently started to consider getting one of these. Keep us posted on what you think of it.
