Are the 08 YOAMD lanyards and pins the same as the 07 ones?

I read that the 08 mouse ears are not the same as the 07 ears. I'm wondering if they changed the lanyard and pin colors/styles for 08.

Nope - colour changed to a dark blue.
If you go onto eBay, just search Disney Dreams 2008. You'll be able to see the new lanyards and the ears.

What is the trick, strategy, etc. to getting one of these Lanyards? Is there a certain time the pass them out?

Unfortunately, it comes down to being in the right place at the right time...
In two trips last year, we only ever saw the Dream Squad twice, and were lucky enough to get the FastPass lanyard. Worse part for us - the parks were so quiet, we never ended up using them... I ended up giving them away to another family that night, as they were trying to collect Disney items for their scrapbooks. Figured at least it went to a good cause - memories!!

You can try your luck at doing the postcard mail in, but again - who knows how successful that venture will be. Other option - many people trade pins off the YOAMD lanyards - so you might be able to at least get the pins doing trades. We did that for our DS's collection. I figured it was better than nothing :)
