I'll be on vacation from June 2nd and go back to work on the 12th. While Ideally I'd like to try out Beach Ball this year, I doubt finances will allow for it :(

I will of course be spending lots of time at PI with Knox though (and Mike if we can drag him out there ;) ).

It is normally $75, but I don't even see it listed this year so maybe they stopped doing it. That makes me :sad1:

I've got some friends going who will have to get a room. I'll be using DVC points...so OKW was the best option for us to stay at the same location without them having to shell out a lot of cash. At this point, I plan on going down on Wednesday and heading home on Sunday. Can't wait...it's been 4 years since I have made a GayDays trip!

We're doing the 4 night cruise on June 1st, and than staying at the Poly June 5 - 8 (fly home Monday).

Can't wait! Haven't done gay days in a couple of years.

I have never been in Orlando in the summer or for gay days. June 2009 I'll be there though and I'll take the whole week off to party if I have to!

I will be at OKW from 6/2 to 6/16. Not really sure when hunny is coming down...life is in limbo for her right now. I have been at WDW during gay days, but didn't participate (very long drama story...no need to tell it!)

So, I am hoping to meet some of the dis folks that I have chatted with and plan to see the sights!

Wasn't really planned as a gay days trip but I will down there from Wed-Sunday now... have to make some time for Star Wars Weekends at DHS (hoping to get to be a stormtrooper in the parade at least one day that weekend) which is the main reason I am going... but would love to hang out at PI/wherever a few nights and stuff... never been there during gay days... so not really sure what I should be expecting hehe :)

Gayday is the first Saturday of June. Next year that first Saturday is the 6th.

Another factor: how crowded are the parks? I suspect Saturday in the Magic Kingdom is going to be a crazy fun madhouse (:banana: :cool1: :banana: ) but what about the other parks the week before? Any firsthand experience?

The week before the parks aren't too bad at all, since the crowd kind of disperses its self. There are "unofficial" gaydays at the other parks the rest of the week, but almost no one follows them.

First of all...Saturday is definitely crazy, but worth every minute. I have been to GayDays several times. Generally, MK reaches capacity by lunchtime. Therefore if you are going to go, make sure it is early. Generally after the 3 pm parade, a lot of the crowd heads in, presumably to take a bar nap before the evening festivities. The other days of the week are typical sumer day crowds. There are other days set aside for 'gaydays' at the different parks and for the most part you will see red and rainbows intermingled pretty heavily in the crowds. If you've never been, I highly recommend it. I'm making the trip again this year with several of my friends.

I go to GayDays every year (it's easy as a local) and have never been to any of the parties. Pleasure island will normally have some sort of event the Thursday before, and other than that I really do anything other than the parks.

I did go to House of Blues the time I was there for a girls only party that was mostly men...I was more than a little suprised to find so many straight men at a woman's only event. But, I still had a good time.

That Pleasure Island price is for the Multi-Club ticket. If you are just going to Mannequeens, you can get the single club ticket for about $11.

I have seen a schedule of the days events at MK on Saturday but I have been all over the gaydays website, where was it? It described the meeting place and times for lesbians in the MK. I forgot to bookmark it, and of course now I can't find it! [editing: I finally found it - the work computer had the link blocked for some reason - but I would still like to see the rest of the schedule this indepth]
I would love to read this type of indepth thing for all the days!

I found 2 events for women that are not pool parties (I am not a sun bunny), one is a comedy show and the other doesn't seem to have any description of the event. None of the events seem to have tickets available - and the site GAYDAY.com isn't showing any schedule after 2006...help! (again!)

If anyone can enlighten me I would appreciate it. I guess I seem a little dense here - I am just seeing the expo and pool parties for women - There HAS to be more!

Truthfully with how many people come to Gaydays, there aren't nearlly enough rooms on Disney property to accomidate everyone. No matter where you stay in the area, there's sure to be plenty of "family"!

Pretty much everything is open at Tyohoon for Beach Ball, with the exception of Crush n Gusher. (No lights on that attraction)

Limited food (Consession Stand) will be open.

Well, it gets pretty close to capacity (I think about 70,000 people) but then again not everyone in town for the events go to the park that day, and there are still lots of straight people there. Local business estimates put it at about 200,000 people who come to town for the events.

We had to shorten the trip this year since I started a new job (as a result of losing a prior job with a homebuilder, hence losing my job, but I digress) and, therefore, have no vacation time coming to me until next year. In honor of the anniversary of our wedding (commitment, union, ceremony, drunken party, whatever you want to call it) and to celebrate my husband's 44th birthday, we are heading back to WDW for gay days! 4 years ago we honeymooned there (big shock) with our good friends and fellow DVCers who had since moved to NY. We planned a wonderful reunion this year, staying at AKV which is a thrill! Unfortunately, we got the news that one of our dear friends passed away very suddenly this past weekend. We are still making the trip but it will surely be bittersweet! I know he will be with us the entire way, especially when we "bounce along with Tigger!" Ah, who am I kidding, that's going to be one honeypot loaded with tears! :laughing:

Anywho, since we are no longer the partying types (we prefer a nice quiet drink at a sweet hotel bar) if there are any meets like that planned, we'd love to join in! I'm sure we'll be dropping by OKW to see our dear Ramona behind the bar. If you see a sweet Philippino lady tending bar, be sure to call her "Kisses" and tell her Craig and Bruce say Hi!

Those who don't think Gay Days is a good thing really are missing the point. Even if we were the only group to come in on a promoted day (which we are NOT) I'd say power to us. Getting together to meet new friends is exactly what Walt Disney wanted everyone who came to his parks to do.

Each year I meet new people from other parts of the country and world and they've remained good, close friends. Sure you have a couple who take the opportunity to "act up". Although this year in 2008, I didn't witness one single incident.

I will always look for the positive in my personal "special" first weekend in June. I have a ton of memories and no one can take those away from me.

Gayday at the Magic Kingdom is always the first Saturday of June, and the week before is the week of the events. That means next Gayday is June 6th.

But no, there arent any "official" events in August. Mannequins at PI is always almost entirely gay on Thursdays, all year round (at least until September :sad: )

Hi, may I please ask a question? No flaming allowed. We will be visiting Disney next Jun 7-13, 2009. One of my friends is concerned because of the Gay Days weekend. We are all straight with a total of 6 kids between us. Two 13, three 6 and one 4. The 13s won't say anything and neither will the 4year old. It's the 6 year olds we are worried about. Unfortunatly they are all very outspoken, yet we have kept them sheltered. If they see something unusual to them, they wil say it. We don't want to embarrass anyone. We teach them tolerance (my daughter never notices the color of one's skin), but this is something we have never encountered with them before. Guess what I am looking for is some insight as to if a lot of people stay for the whole week after and if we will encountered inappropriate behavior. We had that problem 12 years ago when we were there. What I saw I would have been embarrassed had it been a straight couple. And I'm not a prude. Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My Dear Eyor,

June 7 is the last official Gay Day. The park for the day will be Epcot as it has been for the last few years. If you avoid Epcot that day, you should avoid any uncomfortabilities with the 6-year-olds.

If you like to party, then you may want to book the Royal Plaza or P-House. If you want to relax, then you'd probably want to book on property.

Of course you can always stay on property and drive/take a cab to the parties as well!

I've only seen it get raunchy at the parties that happen throughout town, not actually at the parks. As a matter of fact, some guys we were hanging out with at Epcot this year complained that PoP was too "G-rated" for their tastes, so they were staying at the host hotel to go to the parties next year :rotfl2:
