I got a code today after calling over the past week atleast 5 times. I am knda disappointed over it though. I got a 40% off and its only off the room rate. So in reality I am only saving $50 from the difference of our AAA rate.
Is this what is happening to everyone else? I was all excited, but now I am not. I was hoping to save atleast a 150-200. I guess beggers cant be choosers.

Um, no offense, but it doesn't get much better than a 40% off - unless you wind up getting some kind of room upgrade upon arrival.
The 40% off room works best with high priced rooms. While saving 40% on a value resort ressie on a standard room during value season would only save you about $32/night, for some people this is the difference between going to Disney or not.
From what I can tell, Free Dining is the best deal for those staying in a Value, 40% off for those staying in a Deluxe - Moderates are USUALLY better for the 40%, I think.
The BEST deal, from what I can remeber, are the Buy a 4 night package, get 3 free - ah, to dream of that happening again!

yep...40% is the best deal for those staying at deluxe resorts. It makes a pretty nice difference on the higher priced rooms.
congrats on the discount!

Are you only going for a couple of nights?
When I called back to change from AAA to 40% off, the additional 20% off above AAA saved us an additional $200.00 (6 nights at CBR)

40% roughly translates to "almost half."
So if you're staying at a value, paying $80 per night, then 40% off is a reduction of about $32 per night.
Up it to a $300 per night room and the discount becomes $120 per night.

I would be happy with 40% discount! I've been calling twice a day for a week. DW has also been calling. Same answer every time "No codes are attached to your name". Be happy you received it. Many of us here were not so lucky. Have a great time!

Either you're not doing the math right.. or you didn't get a 40% off code, but actually a 20% off code..
As noted here.. unless you're only staying one night.. you should save at LEAST double your AAA discount (which is 10 to 20% off room only) with a 40% off code.

Please dont get me wrong. I am thankful I got a code, but it just doesnt seem like its adding up.
I got a price of 2500 something for AAA price and 40% off was 2462.68 through Disney. thats at POR
A value was 2200 something and thru Disney was 2406.24.
It just seems like everyone else is getting bigger savings. I am not sure which i am booking just yet. Should know by tonite though.

Yeah, the numbers aren't adding up. Perhaps you are going during a blackout when the code does not apply, but just picking up one night at the end at the code rate or something.
If you post all your ressie details - dates, ages of guests, types of tickets, dining, etc., I'm sure that someone would check the quotes for you. Or you can do it yourself on disneyworld.com

Are they adding in trip insurance? Disney likes to do that, I know they've done it to me without even asking if I want it.

I was looking at 4/1-4/6 staying at POR or Value with 6 day hopper passes NO water park and dining plan. Thats for 4 (2 adults and 2 kids 4 1/2 & 11 1/2). No insurance. I still keep trying to figure the quoted price and its not coming out right unless I am doing it wrong. Please help if you can.

I just hit the site with your info. AT POR, with the info you gave, I get an original price of $1752.82, of which $918 is hotel. Take 40% off that and you should be getting a price of 550.80 for hotel. So you should be saving in the neighborhood of $367, for a new total of about $1385. It should be about $150 better than the AAA offer of 20%.
Does someone else want to run the numbers as well? I'm a math teacher, but a Disney rookie.

I am going from Dec 7th- Dec 15th. Total would be $1529.44. (Movies)I got our room at All Star Movies for $509.00 in a preferred room for the above rates total! That is a savings of $1019.00. I myself think that is great savings be it a deluxe or the value it is!
Certainly better the AAA and a kick in the butt!

Ask the CM you talk to to do the math. The one I talked to told me I was getting 40% off, even quoted the hotel price that would have been 40%, but it didnt add up right. When I asked her to explain why she had to put me oon hold and then said I really go the 20% off code. But that was odd because the price she told me for the hotle was "right" - the computer just wouldnt let it go thru at that price....sadly, I didnt book it since it wasnt right.:guilty:
Good luck!!!

Still happy with that savings!

If I remember correctly only the room portion of the 40% off package is discounted 40% off so thats how I figured it.
This is what I figured for
5 nights
6 day hoppers
Dining plan
2 adults
2 children (1 child will cost adult price on dining plan)
No Insurance
Port Orleans Riverside - Standard View $2271
Pop Century - Standard $2052
This is how I figured things
Non discounted package for Port Orleans is $2652. Room portion is $952. 40% off of $952 is $381 (rounding to nearest dollar). So $2652 - $381 = $2271.
Now this is assuming standard views are available at the resorts for the 40% off code.
If I messed up someone post corrections please.
PS when checking prices on Disney's site always look over the box on the right hand side. First off on the tickets they put park hopper and water parks as default. Then anytime you make a change such as water view to standard or maybe 7 day tickets to 6 day tickets remember to click on update in that section. And any time you search again for a different resort or dated double check all of it. Often I will find the will go back to the defaults on the tickets.

Why not make this easy:
Call Disney Reservations. Ask for both prices, with and without the code.

A value was 2200 something and thru Disney was 2406.24.
Ok from my figures the $2200 from AAA is 15% off of a Value standard room + package.
Package before 15% discount $2284
Standard room $580 x 15% = $87
So AAA Package $2197
(standard, 6 day hopper, no insurance)
Not sure how disney is coming up with that cost. No matter what I did I couldn't get that exact cost. Closest I got was $2466. This is for Value prefered, 6 day hopper with water part and insurance added. So not sure if thats what Disney added in when they got the cost you are showing.

wasn't planning on another trip to disney until 2009 but.....
I got the pin code card....I have not used it yet, I don't think it is valid during the usual free dining period, if it is, I don't think the discounts can be combined, does anyone one know what the rates would be for november for standard rooms at the pop century, CBR, AKL or the Polynesian? :surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb: :confused3

may i ask about this Free dining you all are talking about?
StrwLady
01-21-2008, 12:19 PM
It's not free dining. Disney recently sent out email or snail mail offers to certain people. The discount code is unique to each person that receives it. This offered a 40% discount off or room only or a package. Some people are using this code getting a package that includes dining.
