I am soooooo.....excited to be starting a PJ for our 15th wedding anniversary vow renewal on July 17, 2008. I've read so many journals that have been heartwarming, touching and some down right funny and FULL of GREAT information, I just had to start one myself. I hope I can help someone planning for their VR/Wedding as so many of you have helped me! So here it goes!
How we Met!
It all began in 1989 when we (Joe & Jodi) were both in our first year at the University of South Alabama. We kept seeing each other in English class, until Joe finally got up enough nerve to say "hi." I was working on campus at the Psychology department so he would stop by often and talk to me while I was at work. The funny part was...he scared me to death!! And I wasn't interested in him AT ALL, at first  !! My family called him my "stalker" because he kept following me around everywhere. I actually dropped English class to try and escape him...to no avail! He asked me out, and before I could think of a reason to say no, I said YES and we have been inseparable ever since!
The First Wedding
We planned a very, very small, inexpensive wedding since we had just graduated from college the month before, we had no job and no money, but we wanted to get married. We were married on July 17, 1993. Total cost of the wedding....about $500. We did everything ourselves. I spent under $100 on my dress, we had a BOOM BOX for our wedding music :rotfl: and we made our own food, but it was fabulous!!! We were married!! We went on our honeymoon to Disney, it was Joe's first time at Disney, and my 20th (I grew up going to disney, every summer since I was 2!!) We stayed at the Carribean Beach Resort and it became our place
Our family today consists of myself, Jodi (37) and DH, Joe (39) and DD, Kaitlyn (10) and DD Hannah(8) and our 2 shelties, Maggie & Sulley.

The Vow Renewal
We have always dreamed of having a wedding in Disney since our honeymoon (well maybe me more than my DH). We knew someday, someday we would make that a reality. We have been through a lot in our 15 years together.....My DH lost his brother (only 18 years old at the time), I lost my father when I was 19 years old, we had 2 miscarriages early in our marriage, both Kaitlyn and Hannah were born very premature, and a scare with our oldest dauther, Kaitlyn, who the doctors were CONVINCED had leukemia (my whole world stopped for that week in my life), but the Lord proved the doctors wrong and she is okay. Can we afford it? Hmmm...it will be hard but it will be worth it.
My plans so Far....
Welcome Reception: Raglan Road Irish Pub 5:00
Ceremony: Yacht Club Gazebo 2:30
Dinner: O'hana 5:10
Illuminations Dessert Party: UK Upper Terrace
Date: July 17, 2008
Colors:
Ivory/Gold
Vendors:
Hair/Makeup: Lisa's Magical Wedding
Tux: Carolyn Allen's
Officiant: Rev. Jack Day
Resort: Animal Kingdom Lodge!
We will have about 19 people. I have picked out my dress, will try to post a photo in a bit. I didn't want anything that screamed wedding dress, since I'm not a new bride, but since I spent about $75 on my first one, I did want it to be special! My 2 DD's will be my bridesmaids/flower girls. I will post a pic of the dress in a little bit. And my brother who is now 21 and just back from Iraq (he was my ringbearer for the first wedding) will be my escort. For my theme, I've pretty much stayed with Mickey/Minnie on everything. I did my own invitations and will post a pic of those also.
More to follow....

Hi Jodi! I'm excited to get in on another PJ so early! (first to post :woohoo: ) I can't wait to read about all your plans. I love your story so far!
Question for you: is your screen name in reference to Roo? He's my ALL TIME favorite, ever!

my DH came up with for my when we were dating. I add the "lilone" on to it because he always calls me "lilone." Rooz is so special to us that he got me a personalized license plate for my birthday a couple years back with "Rooz" on it. Rooz drives everyone crazy (especially my family) because noone knows what it means or how to say it, simply put it means love for us!
Here is the dress I ordered from Alfred Angelo. I haven't even tried it on yet!! It should be here in a couple of weeks! I can't wait!!!

Here is my DD, Hannah, trying on the flower girl dress we got for her and Kaitlyn for the ceremony. I looked everywhere for the perfect dress for them to compliment my dress. When I say I looked everywhere, oh my gosh, I think I was obsessed with finding the perfect dress for them. I was really close to buying a disney blossom dress, but this dress was half the price. Got it at David's Bridal.

I'm so happy for you and your husband! I'm so glad you guys get to do a vow renewal at disney. Exciting! I absolutely LOVE the dress you picked. I went to a wedding last saturday and the color scheme was ivory and gold and it was elegant. It will be so beautiful. Hannah is adorable !!
I also went through a period where the doctors thought I had lymphoma. It's tough stuff. Good luck with the rest of the planning.

We booked Rev. Jack Day for the ceremony, he was so wonderful, I knew immediately after talking with him I wanted to use him, the cost if anyone needs to know is $200 for an escape wedding/vow renewal.
Also booked Lisa Pena for hair & makeup. Little nervous about someone doing my makeup :scared: She seemed real nice though :goodvibes

We decided we wanted to do tshirts for our family to wear during the illuminations dessert party. A wonderful lady named amy at www.amymickey.com does tshirt designs for free (she does accept donations). She is amazing. I emailed her what I wanted and she emailed me the design within 4 hours! My only problem now is....I have the design and the tshirts, but NO Inkjet printer to print the tshirt transfers (I know stupid hugh?) I normally do all my personal stuff at work but my printer will not work for the transfers. Can anyone recommend a good inkjet printer to buy for tshirt transfers? Here is the design:

I love your plans so far (dress is gorgeous, love the invitations, DD is too cute) - and I love your story! Looking forward to following your PJ over the next few months.
FYI - 7/17 is my lucky day and lucky number...I love that it is your anniversary and that you will get to do your VR the same day. I was originally hoping to do my wedding on 7/17 but we are pretty positive that we'll be holding off until 2009 (at home) and 7/17 doesn't fall on a Saturday in 09. But enough about me.
As for the t-shirts, do you maybe have a friend with an ink jet that you could email the design to? Or do you think that an office store like Staples offers a service to print the transfers out for you (which would be much cheaper than buying a new printer)??? Just some thoughts...

My lucky number too :goodvibes As far as the tshirts goes the problem is an outside printer company WILL NOT print them, because they are copyrighted. I have to do them myself. I really need to buy a printer for my house anyways so it's just a good excuse to buy one, just want to get a good one with good color!!
Oh.....I wanted to tell everyone I just got back from the House of Brides. My dress came in and I went straight from work to try it on....good and bad news....love, love the dress....very little alterations will be needed...bad news....if I gain a pound I won't fit in it  It fits like a GLOVE! I will post some pics of me trying it on soon.
Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful comments :goodvibes

Welcome I look forward to reading your plans. We will be doing a VR for our 20th in 7/2010. Everything sounds great so far.... I like the dress. I plan on using gold and ivory with royal blue. I have only looked a few places online since we have time yet but like you said I really don't want a dress that says bride but something special.... have fun planning and welcome.

that dress is beautiful for your vr! you are so tiny!!!
about the t-shirt transfers...i'm wondering if you'd be able to buy the transfer paper and take them to a fed-ex kinkos and do them there? it might end up being cheaper to buy a printer yourself though, depending on how many you have to do!

 That's a thought about Kinkos, I wonder if they WOULD print them? I guess it doesn't hurt to ask!
When I tried the dress on for my DH, he told me (very sweetly :lovestruc ) I would need to find something to fill out the top (I've had that trouble all my life, ha), but I told him there is just enough room to stick my vows and some tissue in there, so it was perfect! :rotfl:

As for the tee shirt transfer. A few years ago, I put the design on a CD and took it to Aztec printing and had them print 2 transfer sheets. I think they charged me $12. It may be worth your while to check out local printing places. Good luck!

Whew...I'm tired :cloud9: Got up early, 6 a.m. CST (which is early for me, I'll sleep to NOON if I can) so I could be first to book O'hana, wasn't sure how hard it would be to get the ressie, but I figured I needed the 5 p.m. dinner time slot and there was only ONE so I didn't want to take any chances. WooHoo, :cool1: got O'hana's at 5:00 for our reception dinner :cool1: I'm just glad I can use my DDE, so that should help with the costs a little! :goodvibes

We are getting married on July 4 and will be there 'till the 18th, so we might have to wander by the Yacht Club Gazebo on the 17th! :cutie:

I bought the invitation paper through this website: www.tcwdesigns.com They have ALL kinds of BLANK disney invitations that are at a great price. I paid $1 per invitation, minimum quantity I think is 20. I searched all over the internet for blank disney invitations and had a hard time finding some that weren't expensive, or that didn't required a large minimum quantity. Hope that helps!:goodvibes

Another big question for everyone....I want to do welcome bags for everyone, what sort of things do you put in a welcome bag? :confused3 I would like to do one bag per family. Any good, cute, different ideas. All my sisters are coming down with their kids and we all have girls ranging from age 8-11. Please help! I'm going for a site visit (just an excuse to get our Disney fix over Mardi Gras break) on Feb 2 for 3 nights, so I'll be at Disney if there is anything I should get for the welcome bags while I'm there, please let me know! :yay:

hope you get the tiara too. Can't wait to see it! I'm sort of looking for ideas for welcome bags too. Most people seem to put practical things in there but if you want to be different and do fun things for kids disney sells these little packages for girls that have make-up and nail polish and stuff like that in there. You can check out the link at the end so you can see what I'm talking about. Maybe some plush toys and some disney candy? If you don't like the candy idea maybe some coloring books and crayons. There are tons of cool disney princess stuff like hair ties and stickers that you can even get from the dollar store. http://www.peggyssweetsandmore.com/browsemiscellaneous.htm

Your DD looks so beautiful!!
We ordered that same dress for my 6 year old niece yesterday. She tried on every dress Davids Bridal had and she kept coming out of the dressing room sulking and really stiff but when she put this one on she came out smiling and spinning around and asking if she could have her tiara right then. So we bought it immediately!! She was so happy in it! :woohoo: They told us that we can expect it in April. I hope ours comes early too!

:rotfl: That is so funny you said that....Hannah, my 8 year old (seen in the beginning of my journal) did the same thing. We must have tried on 50 dresses and none of them were right until she tried this one on... she  loved it, as you can tell from her "ta da"!! She refused to try anything else on after that... we got the tiara at David's Bridal too. I bet the dress looks even cuter in a smaller size (seems like all girls dresses look cuter in smaller sizes ha!) I bet you get your dress quick too! :woohoo:

Where are you having your DP? My planner told me that it is a flat rate of $75 to rent the tables and chairs. Whether you get 2 chairs or 20 chairs - it will be $75. I know Upper UK already has tables and chairs so no need for rentals there. I'm having my DP on Lower UK and they have some benches there as well, but I'm having about 50 guests so I might get a few tables anyway. You don't need to get too fancy with decorating the tables for the DP, I just feel like for 1 hour? Its not worth it. Plus the guests will be too busy with the desserts and fireworks to notice the decorations anyway.

We are having our DP at Morocco, for 20 guests. Doesn't come with tables and chairs, but can add them for $75, like you said. Budget is really tight so I was wondering if I could get away with no tables. Not sure if there is any benches in the area that guests could sit on...we are going to Disney on Feb 2 to do "some scouting" and take pics. I was just wondering if we really needed the tables, is making everyone stand kinda tacky??

Good Evening All!
Well I need some opinions....we are a family divided :headache: The dress I bought is STRAPLESS, however it comes with optional spaghetti straps. My DH wants me to wear the straps!!! I have 4 sisters...2 say definitely strapless, 2 definitely straps...my mom says straps...my mother in law says strapless, my 2 DD's say "mom" you look beautiful either way. I don't know what I like better, need some HONEST opinions....

I have to agree that you are so beautiful that you can wear it either way. Would you be comfortable without the straps? Or would you be worried about the dress moving on your body at the top? If I looked as great as you and had the option of going either way, I'd go strapless. For some reason it seems more "bridesy" to me and less sundress-y as far as the top "line" of the dress, if that makes sense. I have to admit, though, knowing myself, I'd be pretty insecure about not having straps to hold the whole thing up, unless it fit very snugly. :)

You look beautiful in both pics but I have to say it looks better strapless. I think that because the dress is so detailed and delicate the straps seem a little chunky on it and the focus moves from the detailed bodice to the straps. But you should definitely wear whichever style makes you feel most comfortable!

Subscribing! :wave2: Your dresses are lovely (both yours and your daughters)! I agree with the others, you look beautiful with or without the straps - just depends on your comfort level. Going strapless does seem to make it look a bit more formal. Either way you are going to look spectacular! :thumbsup2

That's funny, keenercam, my sister said the exact same thing about it looking my "bridesy" without the straps.
Staying up is not a problem....it has so much of wire on top I think it can stand up on its own. :rotfl:
After looking at the pics of myself in the dress, I really think I prefer the strapless look too. I just wish I could convince my DH. I wish he never saw the straps, gosh maybe that's why the groom is not suppose to the the bride before the wedding, so he can't give her grief about her dress! :lmao:
I think I'm going to go strapless (that's how I originally fell in love with the dress anyway)
Thanks guys for your support and sweet comments, when I need a hug I know where to go!

:rotfl:
You look lovely in the dress and congratulations!!!!
I bet if you took the print to Kinkos and found a FEMALE employee and explained the situation she would print them for you.....the whole story is terribley romantic!!! ----How could anyone say know???
I found your post while considering have a vowel renewal myself.....I thought people would think I was silly....you have been my inspiration!!!
Thank you. :cheer2:

Actually, it's very comfortable without the straps. Normally, I have a very HARD time keeping anything strapless up (It's sad to say I have to shop in the kids department for bras :sad1:) but it stays up great without the straps, I just need to find something to fill it up with...hmmm, maybe my cell phone, some lipstick, tissue, my vows and a snack, just in case I get hungry! :lmao:

Check out a good lingerie department, they have things to help "fill out" a dress like that(if you're anywhere near a Nordstrom's go there, they have such wonderful knowledgable sales people that will go out of the way to help you.)

Good Afternoon All,
I went home for lunch and there it was.... my tiara came in the mail!! It's perfect! I've never shopped on Ebay before and now I'm hooked. I got it for just $20!! It matches perfectly with the dress. I was so close to dropping $200 at David's Bridal for a Tiara.....I'm so glad I didn't.
Here is my tiara, it's so much more prettier in person. I had a hard time taking a good picture of it.

Oh, I have definitely decided to go strapless! I think Joe has finally accepted it. I told him to say goodbye to the straps.:wave2:
I'm sooo excited... we are leaving for Disney this Saturday for our "own" planning session, since we are only doing an escape VR, we don't get a real planning session. I plan on buying some things for our welcome bags and taking some photos of the sites, Morocco, Yacht Club Gazebo etc. If anyone needs me to take a pic of something particular or needs a question answered I'll be more than happy to collect the data and report back on Wednesday, the 6th. Just let me know!

Good Morning Guys,
Well I'm sitting here at work, trying to work....:rolleyes1 not working very well, really hard to concentrate!! We are leaving for the World about 4 a.m. Saturday, we had to get in one last trip before our AP passes expired and it's a great excuse to do some planning for the VR while we are down there. We are going to Carolyn Allen's to get Joe's tux ordered and pay the deposit. Has anyone used Carolyn Allen's? Just wondering what everyone's experience has been? I hope good! Also, how much do they charge to steam a gown? Just curious.
Congrats to all the brides heading down this weekend for their wedding!! :goodvibes

Hi Guys,
Well, we are back from a wonderfully, extra special trip to the World. Something truly special and very unexpected happened while we were there! Don't want to give it away just yet....;)
We left early Saturday, around 3 a.m. in the morning. We are only 8 hours away so it's not too bad driving straight through. Well that is if Joe is driving. No way am I awake enough to drive! On the agenda for our mini trip/planning session....order Joe's tux, visit Yacht Club Wedding Gazebo, Morocco and get some things for our welcome bags! Oh, and crash some weddings  (not).
Here is Kaitlyn and Hannah at about 5 a.m. in the morning. Yes, they look wide awake, they never sleep the night before the trip. They are way too excited.
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/DSCN1016.jpg
Pretty uneventful trip down, had great weather all the way and arrived about 1:00 p.m. just in time for our appt with Carolyn Allen. Although, we got lost trying to find the store, it's really tucked back in a shopping center! :confused3 I could check a couple things off my list....got Joe measured and his tux ordered...and got an appt for my gown steaming.
Here is the tux we ordered (we get everything shown, minus the bride & groom)
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/alfresco_202_alt2.jpg
On to Pop Century....never stayed at the Pop, but got a great AP rate of $49 so who could pass that up? Joe parked the car and I went in to stand in a very, very, very long line! :sad2: But I'm in Disney so it's all good. It's finally my turn and as usual they asked for my Driver License and Credit Card. So "Daniel" looked at me, looked at my Driver's License, looked at me again and said "Maam I'll be right back" And takes my Driver's License. I'm like  what? You know you did nothing wrong but you immediately start thinking, geez what did I do? Daniel comes back with 2 other CM's. "We would like to send you to the Coronado Springs at no additional charge," she says. I'm like, "Coronado Springs for $49 a night, $%&# yes." Of course, Joe wanted to know why? I like to think I was "tapped." :wizard: Oh, this is not the "extra special" thing that happened, but it was a great start.
So, we were off to Coronado Springs. Lines were much shorter so we got our room quick.
Here is Joe checking out the room & the TV:

At the Coronado Springs Bus Stop:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/DSCN1048.jpg
After relaxing for awhile and checking our surroundings, we decided to go over to the Yacht Club Gazebo and see where we will be renewing our vows.
We decided to drive because it was the easiest way of getting there...we pulled up to the security officer and told him and we just wanted to see the gazebo and he said there is a wedding getting ready to start! :woohoo: The gazebo all decorated? :woohoo: Let's go and take some pics!
I tried to take some pics quick so I wouldn't be in the way of the wedding.
Here are some pics of the Yacht Club Wedding Gazebo:

Sunday, February 3-A Day I will never forget!!
First full day at Disney! :cool1: :cool1: We get up real early to head out to the Magic Kingdom. We ALWAYS do Magic Kingdom first, it doesn't seem like we are at Disney until we go to the Magic Kingdom. It's still very magical for us. Is that true for anyone else? No matter how many times we go, when we step into the Magic Kingdom, all our worries fade away. :cloud9:
I still had no idea at this point what was about to happen next! :lovestruc We make our way up Main Street, with about 50 million other people (gosh it was crowded, so many groups all with teenagers!! :scared1:) We head for the castle and then Joe quickly stops me as he quickly grabs a photopass CM to take a picture of us in front of the castle. Still no clue! He starts whispering to the CM. Ok, now I know something is up....a million thoughts are running through my head....oh, my gosh, my husband of almost 15 years is going to propose to me, again... oh, that's awesome, that is so sweet, oh my gosh, I'm so embarrassed, people are going to think we aren't married...I'm not the kind of person that likes to be the center of attention, quite the opposite, so I was a little numb. Of course, the crowds of people heading for rides immediately stop.....Joe gets on on one knee and says, "I know we are renewing our vows in July, but I haven't asked you the right way." "Will you marry me again?" He cries, I cry. And he puts a ring on my finger!! Still embarrassed, I'm like "oh yes," but get up get up. I can't believe he did that.
There is a story behind why he did it though...when he proposed the first time (oh we were so young and stupid). Long story short, we dated for 5 years, I wanted to get married NOW, I was inpatient, so I kept nagging him about asking me, I was like "when are you going to get me a ring." Stupid I know. Well, it ended up with a huge fight and him throwing the ring at me. :sad2: So that was my first proposal, and he always said he would make it up to me...well he did!

It's been a crazy week and weekend, haven't had much time to get on the boards and finish my trip report...so I'll keep it brief. :lmao:
After the Proposal-Day 1:
Well, what can I say, after my husband proposed, again :lovestruc I was done! In a good way. It didn't really matter what we did from there, where we went, I was on cloud 9! :cloud9:
Here is a pic of us right after the "event," right before we went on the tea cups:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/DSCN1065.jpg
Pretty much the rest of the trip was awesome, how could it not be! They gave us the just married pins, but the CM put "Just Engaged Again" on them, which was pretty funny, because we were getting questions from everyone as far as what it meant.
Hannah & Joe fought Captain Hook after we got off the Pirates of the Carribean ride (gosh really long lines on all the rides):
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/photopass3.jpg
After a long day at the Magic Kingdom, Kaitlyn & I just chilled on the bus back to the CSR:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/DSCN1124.jpg
Day 2-Animal Kingdom/Boardwalk/Epcot:
Goals for today, find some small stuff for my welcome bags and get some "inspiration" for what I want in the bags. Try to catch a glimpse of Carrie and Wendy's wedding and check out Morocco, the site of the dessert party.
Went to the AK for extra magic hours, got there about 7:30 a.m. I managed to buy some stickers and cups for the welcome bags, but that was about it. We went from the AK to the Boardwalk around 3:00 p.m. to check out the Garden Suites at the Boardwalk (we were thinking of staying in one during the VR) and I've never been able to find rates on the disney website, they are no longer listed. :confused3 According to the front desk, they go by "honeymoon cottages" and most are going through renovation. About half were closed while we were there. As we walked to Epcot, I managed to catch a glimpse from a safe distance of Wendy's wedding. She was a beautiful bride. :bride:
Got to Epcot and went to the Living Seas, my favorite. I just had to post this picture I got of this huge turtle. I just LOVE turtles!
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/DSCN1159.jpg
Finally got to Morocco and stayed in the World Showcase until Illuminations!
I have to say, I'm not too impressed (probably my only disappointment with the trip) with the Morocco site as far as for the dessert party location. I just didn't like the look, just my personal taste. I'm sure many, many people love it. The wall is just too tall. We have several small children coming to our VR. Hannah who is 8 could barely see over the wall. If you are too short, you can't see illuminations. Here is some pics, in case anyone else is having a dessert party there:
Looking at the Morocco site from the boat:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/DSCN1158.jpg

Big Wall!
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/DSCN1155.jpg
So, now I don't know what I'm going to do about the dessert party. I really, really like the France and UK locations better but I know that is not an option. I know it might sound stupid, but you can't hear the music they play before illuminations very well from the Morocco location, which is BIG for us. We love that music!! Joe really didn't like that part. There isn't any speakers in that area. You can hear it great from France & the UK. We normally stand on the bridge to watch illuminations so that is our perception!
Oh, and I guess it didn't help that a dessert party was set up in Morocco that night so I could see how it looked. I just wasn't very impressed for the price. Some of the pics I've seen on the board were so much nicer. I guess that's what happens when you get this vision in your head, but for about $1000, I guess my vision was huge.
Here is the Morocco location set up for a dessert party. I took the picture about 10 minutes before the guests started to arrive. It just looked empty or something missing (other than the people)
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/DSCN1164.jpg
We saw Carrie from a distance enjoying her dessert party (really liked her location, but I'm not a wishes bride :sad1:)
We watched illuminations under a beautiful, clear night and to top the evening off we all shared a huge sundae at Beaches & Cream!
It was a perfect trip, one I will never forget!! I can't wait to go back in July for our VR!!

Oh I wanted to post a pic of the unity candle I ordered that came in the mail on Saturday! One of the things we really wanted to do for this VR was to include Kaitlyn and Hannah as much as possible. This VR is as much for Joe & I as Kaitlyn and Hannah. I want to make them feel really special. So we are doing a unity candle ceremony that will include them lighting the candles too. What a great trip! :lovestruc I had picked out a unity candle just like that, our planner thought a sand ceremony would be better with the ceremony being outside and the kids being young- so that is what we went with-
Our dp is italy west- we watched from there last month- it was great! The location is not tucked away like alot of them but it has just the black iron fence so the kids can see through and a great view- dont know if that is an option!
Stupid disney knowledge- Morrocco doesnt participate in illumination for religious reasons -I wonder if that has something to do with not hearing it very well?! (Just read this somewhere)

That's interesting  I didn't know that...but it makes sense. They have a band playing up until about 10 minutes before illuminations, which I can't stand :headache: my personal taste, I just don't like the music, and the dessert location is right behind the band!
I would LOVE Italy, but when I emailed my Wedding Coordinator, she said my only option was Morocco and Japan. What I don't understand and maybe someone can shed some light on this, but several of the other locations have a minimum of 20, which I have, so why can't I use those locations, especially if I'm willing to spend the money. Is it because I'm not a wishes bride? Just wondering! :confused3

I just had to update my PJ. After much stress and worry, my wedding coordinator came through with some much needed pixie dust pixiedust: I got this email from her this morning saying the UK Upper Terrace had just opened up and she wanted to know if I wanted it instead of Morocco!! Of course I said yes! I love the fact it already has tables and chairs set up, so it actually costs a little less than Morocco.  Gosh, I wish I had taken pics of that site, any pics, anyone? :goodvibes
Hi Jodi!
I hope you're having a great week! :)
I just wanted to let you know that the UK Upper Terrace has just opened up for availability on the 17th. I was keeping my eye out because I know you really wanted someone where besides Morocco so I'm thinking this may solve the problem :)
We usually can't put a smaller group there but if you can guarantee me 20 people I can put you in the UK. The venue rental is $250 (compared to the $200 for Morocco). UK Upper has the existing wrought iron tables and chairs.
Please let me know ASAP if you would like to move :)
Thanks!

I know, I keep asking myself, why are the shoes so important, it's just a VR. I do love shoes, but I'm not crazy about shoes. But I guess, partly because I bought the most gosh darn ugly, cheap shoes for my 1st wedding, I just wanted something really, nice and unique, a shoe I could show off!! Anyways, Joe thought I was nuts, he kept saying, YOU WON'T EVEN SEE THE SHOES!
I was stuck on the designer "Grace," loved them, love them, but not the price, all of the Grace shoes are well over $100 a pair. I found the ones I wanted at a local bridal boutique: Grace Evita, a beautiful open-toe shoe with a danty bow and a little "bling." They were only $159!
Ebay to the rescue....I went home that same day, got on Ebay, NO LIE....a lady was selling a pair of "Grace Evita Shoes, size 8.5, candlelight" for only $40!!! OMG  I felt like I had hit the jackpot. Got them in the mail yesterday & they fit like a glove! :woohoo:

I still have so much to do, I can't IMAGINE getting married for the 1st time in Disney, I'm overwhelmed with just doing a VR!! And it doesn't require so much, no BM's, MOH, BM etc.
Still to do:
Earrings
Shoes for my DDs
Welcome Bags
Personalized Tshirts for the Family
& I'm going to attempt to create Carrie's wonderful, wonderful Bride/Groom hats! Wish me luck! :goodvibes

Happy Sunday!
Well, I finally finished my T-shirts! I feel like I've really accomplished something...all my other projects are either half done or not even started!
It's helps having a High School Coach for a husband, you have a lot of "ins" with local t-shirt companies. A good friend of my hubby donated 20 blue tshirts for our vow renewal!!! So, my only expense has been paying for the tshirt transfer paper (which, by the way, if you buy the dark tshirt transfer paper is expensive $12 for 5 sheets). The tshirts will be part of the "welcome bags" I haven't started yet! I plan on having the family wear the Tshirts during the Illuminations DP!

Happy Thursday!
Well, I need some help from everyone! I'm in a resort quandary....:headache: We have made ressies at the Port Orleans FQ for our VR. But I'm having 2nd thoughts....to give you some background, I'm very familiar with all of the resorts, having the pleasure of going 4+ times each year, I've gotten around to all of the resorts except the VILLAS so I know my likes and dislikes. I don't know anything about the villas. For a normal summer trip, I wouldn't hesitate staying at the FQ, I love the FQ. But I'm rethinking my resort choice because of our VR! I didn't realize HOW MUCH STUFF I have to bring. And how much room I'll probably need for my dress, the girls dresses, tux, makeup artist, welcome bags etc. etc. etc. It seems like alot of brides on the board stay at a Home-away-from-home villas. I want to be comfortable! I want some room! What do you think? I like to hear some opinions from experienced brides and ones that are getting ready to go. Where did/are you stay? I'm reaching the 3 1/2 month mark and rooms are starting to fill up!

I highly recommend the extra room of the villas :lovestruc Having been a DVCer for almost four years, we are positively spoiled by the room, especially the bigger units! Depending on how many will stay with you, I would try to get at least a one or two bedroom.

I agree with Lisa. I really think you'll want the extra room provided by the villa. If you can do a 1BR, you will be so glad to have the closet space in the MBR. (Oh, and the jacuzzi tub should be mandatorily available to brides for pre-ceremony pampering! :bride: )

I stayed at the WL. The day of the wedding there was myself, MOH, and MOB getting ready in the room. We also had the lady from Carolyn Allens and Lisa from makeover Magic in the room. It wasn't crowded by no means, but I think maybe just one other person could have fit in there comfortably.

Well, I've been thinking about the cake I want..... I emailed my Wedding Coordinator and she said we can upgrade to just about anything we want. We just need to give her a photo and she would work with the bakery. :cool1: Joe had his heart  set on the white chocolate castle topper, but after finding out it costs $100 extra :scared1:, I think we will pass on the castle topper.
I found the cake I want, it will obviously be smaller, but I'm just wondering if the Disney bakers can pull it off and will it look as good with less layers.

Oooh :lovestruc That cake is gorgeous! I love it! You should definitely find out if the bakery can replicate it. They were able to make Carrie's (Lurkyloo) cake almost identical to the picture she brought. It came out beautiful, but I think Carrie mentioned that the color of the cake was kind of off. So if there is a particular color you want your cake, make sure you let them know.

I am going to take a wild guess that if it is for three layers that it will cost $600.00. Of course, I really have no idea but hey, why not guess :dance3:
Speaking of 1br villas, Beach club and Boardwalk enable you to walk into EPCOT anytime for a meal during your trip. Old Key West has the biggest space and is our personal favorite. Rick and I will have a grand villa there for our vow renewal in May =) Wilderness Lodge is just a boat ride away from the MK and Contemporary. Saratoga springs is a mere boat ride from Downtown Disney so they all have nice pros :teacher: AKL villas may be too new to get into. Of course, you will save substantially if you rent points from a DVCer. I'm borrowed into next year putting up my whole family on my points :sad2: But, it will be worth the joy of it all :goodvibes

Hi! My two cents...
BaBeeCee14 hit the nail on the head: I think you'll have no problem getting that design replicated by the bakery. The color is a different story, but if you submitted swatches (maybe paint chips from the hardware store even?) you'll have a better chance. As for cost, I had them make a 3-layer version of a 4-layer design and it was $725. I have no idea how they figure that out, though!
Villas: We stayed at Beach Club Villas for the first week (including the night before the wedding for just me) and Animal Kingdom Villas the second week. AKV's studio was cool looking but small cuz it's a converted hotel room.
Our BCV studio was GREAT! I was able to lay out all my wedding crap the night before and have plenty of room for hair, makeup and dress steaming (mind you it was just me, the makeup artist and the 2 people from Carolyn Allens in there - no bridesmaids, etc.). And walking to Epcot was the highlight of our stay. Well, that and seeing MK fireworks from our balcony!
Anyway, I highly recommend staying at the Villas, especially if you can rent points like we did. It was cheaper than staying at POFQ! :thumbsup2

I was leaning toward BCV, the closer to Epcot the better! We have stayed at the Beach Club several times for that reason. I just think a villa would be better for us this time around. I would love to have a washer/dryer & of course the jacuzzi.

Well, I guess my dream cake will remain, well, just a dream! Got an email from my Wedding Coordinator yesterday. The additional cost to me would be$500! I got a $200 credit for the escape cake, so the cake would cost around $700 total. I was hoping for no more than $300 extra since it was only going to be a 2 tier cake. :headache: Oh, well, I guess I will have to stick to a more traditional Disney cake, I just wanted something a little unique, but it's just out of my budget! Back to the drawing board.....:goodvibes

Hey! Another Mobilian here, just wanted to say hi & that I love your TR so far & I'm so excited for your VR. Everything looks great so far & the story of your re-engagement was great.
I can't wait to finish reading all about your wedding plans.
I just wanted to share the illuminations dessert menus with everyone. We just received these from our wedding coordinator, which are different from the ones I had orginially had, not sure how long they have been out. Looks like the minimum prices have gone from $19.50 pp to $22 pp. I like the new choices, but not the new prices! :sad2:

Well, I have finally accepted my cake reality. The beautiful Colette Cake I found online just wasn't meant to be. And Joe didn't even want it  He acted like he LOVED IT! I want something that will make a good keepsake as they get older. Some type of Jewelry. But I've looked in local stores and on the internet and just can't find anything I like.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any good websites? Has anyone done this before in a VR? I would love some suggestions or past experience. I really want it to be special for them! :goodvibes

Okay, I have two suggestions for you!
I don't know if you're a QVC shopper but they have beautiful Disney jewelry. Check out Item # J29612. It's a Diamonique (cubic zirconia) Cinderella slipper pendant. I'm thinking about getting these as Bridesmaid gifts. I like that it comes in such a pretty presentation box, too. They have a video of it posted on their website. :goodvibes They also have other jewelry like Tiara pendants and Mickey things.
Also, Arribas Bros has a Cinderella pendant, too. Not sure if this is what you had in mind, though.

My parents have given my two sisters and me a Celtic pendant that represents the Three Sisters -- obviously, that doesn't work with just two daughters, but maybe there's a symbol out there that would work. (My family's not Celtic at all, they just liked the symbolism of it.) It's not Disney related, but I think it's pretty cool.
Less meaningful, but definitely appreciated, is the pearl jewelry sets we got from them -- I wear mine all the time now that I'm working in an office, so I think that's something they could really grow to love.
Other thoughts... a locket with a picture of the family inside? Does your family have any sort of "symbol" like a crest, or something that could be made into jewelry? Good luck figuring it out!

I love the charm bracelet idea because it's something you can add to over the years. I've seen Disney ones around but you could add anything you want to them. I also like the idea of getting one of those pressed pennies or quarters from Disneyworld - you could add these to a charm bracelet or just turn it into a necklace?

It just hit me! After deciding on doing the lockets for Kaitlyn and Hannah, I started searching websites and found this great site: www.picturesongold.com You pick the locket, upload the photo and they will place the photo in the locket for you and then you pick the wording and they will do the engraving! It's so cool. I picked a sterling silver locket and I'm going to upload a family pic of us at the WL and then on the left hand side I'm going to have the word "Ohana" engraved. I'll post a pic when they come in. Thanks again for all the great ideas, it really helped!! :goodvibes

Getting my DD's dresses altered (Not sure how late to wait, you never know how kids are going to grow)
Shoes for my DD's (I have 2 daughters with BIG adult feet, it's been hard finding appropriate shoes that fit)
Welcome Bags (Haven't even started)
Our Rings (We haven't even picked them out yet)

After deciding on doing the lockets for Kaitlyn and Hannah, I started searching websites and found this great site: www.picturesongold.com You pick the locket, upload the photo and they will place the photo in the locket for you and then you pick the wording and they will do the engraving! It's so cool. I picked a sterling silver locket and I'm going to upload a family pic of us at the WL and then on the left hand side I'm going to have the word "Ohana" engraved. I'll post a pic when they come in. Thanks again for all the great ideas, it really helped!! :goodvibes
Wow what an amazing site. I am thinking of those for a possible gift.

Hi Guys!
Well, I need some emotional support and some advice today....first I'll start with the good news. We were out-of-town this weekend, went to Destin, FL for a soccer tournament (Hannah, 8, plays on a competitive 10 year old boys team) :goodvibes I'm a very proud Mom! Anyway, I wasn't even looking for a cake topper, I was actually fine with the Mickey & Minnie that comes with the cake, but we were just killing some time in between games so we went to the Outlet stores. They had a Lenox outlet and in the window....staring right us was the Lenox Minnie's Dreaming Wedding Cake Topper, on clearance for $19.99!!! Well, I knew that had to be a mistake. We went in and sure enough, originally $95, now $19.99, and it was the last one!! I just love it....and I think it will look really nice with the cake we selected with the gold mickeys and trim. Here is a pic:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/Destin%20and%20Easter/DSCN1473.jpg
Here is another pic of the cake we are going to have, I think the gold will look good with the cake:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/cakeforvr.jpg
Now for the not-so-good news that I don't know how to handle. My oldest sister (who I'm not so close to or get along with very well...that's another story:sad2:) just informed me she "might not be going." As you can see we are under the 3 month mark and she still hasn't made a ressie! She is the only one that has not!! She just "doesn't know" in her words!! :scared1: Well, that will really affect our DP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The DP is the one thing I really, really want to do! She doesn't care she is stressing me out in anyway! The problem is my DP was moved to the UK Upper Terrace, which requires a 20 person minimum!! If my sister does not go, we would be at 17 total!!! Does anyone know if I can still do the DP if I'm willing to pay for 20? Does that make sense! I'm so-not-happy right now, it's not funny. All this time she has been saying, YES I'M GOING!! Should I give her a deadline? UGH! I need a hug!

my DH came up with for my when we were dating.

I am pretty sure you can have it with less, but just have to pay for the 20 people. Also, I know someone recently brought containers to take leftovers back in (maybe lurkyloo) and they let them rather than throw them out. So if you have to pay for more and have food left, you might see about doing that !

What a good find! The cake topper will look great on top of the cake. Actually, with the gold trim it looks like it was made for your cake.
I would call and ask to make sure less people are okay for the dessert party rather than stressing and waiting for your sister to decide if she is going.
I don't see why having three people short would matter but good luck! :goodvibes

Big Hug Roo! My guest list has been a HUGE STRESS to me! I know exactly how you feel! We need to have a min of 40 people for our reception venue and until a week ago I was at 39 people!!! I was really stressing out and then we got four more guests. Please find out quick if you can still have your DP where you want it to be and if everything is fine - tell your sister to SOAK HER HEAD!!!!

I just received this email from my Wedding Coordinator:
We can change the guest count up to 72 hours before the wedding. So what that means is say you're at 21 right now for the Dessert Party and two back out two weeks before the wedding, I would reduce the count to 20 people because you need to guarantee at least 20 people. We would never cancel the DP. Make sense?
I feel better, but my sister's attitude still irritates the heck out of me! She won't even return my call or email! :headache:

Great find on the cake topper!! I keep looking on Ebay for the Lady and the Tramp ones, to go anywhere below $75. no such luck so far. So sorry about your sister! Instead of doing the DP with DFTW, is there a a way to possibly use Grand gatherings? Or will they still have the 20 person minumum? I hope everything works out!

Thanks! Unfortunately, because of the location, UK Upper, the location requires a 20 person minimum. I was originally booked for Morocco, which is the opposite, 20 person maximum. I just didn't like the Morocco location and was lucky enough to be switched to the UK Upper, so I definitely don't want to give it up! :goodvibes

Yipeee, AP codes just came out and we switched from Port Orleans to the AKL (our absolute fav resort of all time) and we added dining! AND.....it's paid in full! :cool1: :cool1: I'm so excited! If codes didn't come out we would have settled for the moderates, we just couldn't afford the AKL full rack rate with all the other expenses of the Vow Renewal!
It's getting closer, yet I've done nothing on my to-do list...I've been so busy with travel soccer and school. It's been crazy, but it's made the time go by faster, so no complaints! :goodvibes

I like both but it might also depend on what you are planning on wearing in your hair - I didn't check out your whole report. Are you wearing a veil. I am planning on wearing a veil and having it placed under my updo. This would work better with the first hairstyle. If you are not wearing anything in your hair I think #2 is great.

Steal away! :thumbsup2 I might try something in-between, I can't picture what it will look like with a tiara so it's kinda hard! My tiara is not real big or "crownish," geez is that word? It's more like a small head band. I wish I look more like the girl in the pic! :goodvibes

Wow, it really feels like it's going to happen now with seeing everything down on paper!! Prices aren't too bad, not too many surprises. :cool1: I thought I would share some of the prices, it might help you guys with some of your planning!!
Well, remember my $25 upgrade fee for my Mickey's Delight Cake with Gold Mickey Stamps??
Here is a pic again:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/cakeforvr.jpg
Sure enough, it's only $25 extra for this cake (Almond Cake with Amaretto Mousse) and I'm an Escape Bride, with tax, $31.95! :thumbsup2
I didn't have a lot of surprises with my prices because I didn't do a lot of extra stuff (boy it was tempting, but I tried to keep it to a minimum):
My Floral:
Brides Bouquet: Tussy Mussy bouquet but with a GOLD holder with ivory roses-white freesia and stephantois blooms with champagne colored Swarovsi crystals, $9.54
Maids of Honor (Kaitlyn & Hannah): 2 single ivory rose wands with sheer ivory ribbon all sprinkled with pixie dust, $53
Illuminations Dessert Party
Custom Pirates of the Caribbean Grooms Cake, chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse, $69.23 plus $14.54 cake cutting fee and $26.63 delivery Total, $110.40
UK Upper Terrace, $266.25
"You're a Kid at Heart" for 20 people, $562.32
Illumination Viewing Fee for 20 people, $275.84
Total for Dessert Party excluding Cake: 1,104.41
Most everyone in our party will have tickets to Epcot so hopefully we will get some of that money back!
And that's it, everything else was included!!

Sounds good. Not too much more money from your minimum price.
I like the idea of your Grooms Cake. Originally we were going to do a rehersal dinner and I was going to get a cake for that. Well the rehersal has been changed to the morning so we are doing Cape May Cafe breakfast so no grooms cake there (we already get so much food).
I never thought of doing a grooms cake at the desert party. I might consider that. My DF is a huge Giants football fan and after they won the Superbowl earlier this year, he wanted to decorate the ADH with Giants stuff - I said no to that but thought I would surprise him with a grooms cake. Maybe I will check with my planner on this.
Thanks for putting it in your thread.

I wanted to share this info with everyone in case anyone else was wondering....I was under the impression you could only wear "wedding attire" if you spent the extra money for the transportation!! (I might be the only one that thought this, not sure :confused3)Not the case, here is the email I received from my Wedding Coordinator:
Yes, you can wear your wedding dress to the Dessert Party. Your party must arrive all together at International Gateway by 8:15pm and the Event Guide will bring your group directly to the UK for the party. After the Dessert Party, your guide will lead you back to International Gateway so you can not go anywhere else in the park. But no need to change.
Thank you!

My Projects:
Happy Friday to All! Well I figured it was about time I started to actually complete some of my projects I started months & months ago! ::yes:: I still have so many little things to do before our trip in a little over a month! :scared1: Wow, I still can't believe so much time has past since I paid my deposit back in September!!
I went back and forth for a while on the whole program thing. Did I really need one since it was a VR? :confused3 I didn't have one the first time around so I thought why not?
It was really important to me for my family to know what songs we had picked for the ceremony. For me it's all about the music!!!
Joe picked "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" for Kaitlyn & Hannah (It made him cry when he listened to it so he knew it was the one for his girls)
I chose to walk down the aisle with my brother to "When You Wish Upon A Star" (It always brings me back to my childhood and going to the Magic Kingdom)
For the Family Unity Candle Lighting I chose "The Rainbow Connection from the Muppet Movie" (This song ALWAYS makes me cry, it reminds me of my Dad, it was a song we both shared a love for )
And for the Recessional Joe chose "The Pirates of the Carribean Movie Theme" (I was shocked by this :lmao: no I wasn't, just kidding, my husband is Jack Sparrow, it was the perfect fun way to end the ceremony)
I did the typesetting myself. The paper was FREE compliments of my work leftover from an event I put on, it's an ivory paper with gold trim. I did purchase the ivory vellum and gold organza ribbon, cost: $10 total at Michael's. A steal, I just love bargains. Here is the finished product. I just need to make about 18 of them!

Welcome Bags:
The Welcome Bags have been just a pain for me for some reason. :headache: I wanted them to be nice yet very inexpensive (Is that possible? :worried:) So, it has taken me a while to find ways to get things free or very cheap....trying hard to stay on a budget! I borrowed a lot of ideas from all you guys on the board (everyone does such great work!!) :)
My bags consist of:
Folder with Newsletter/Park Maps/Trading Pin/Fast Pass/Ticket Holder
Personalized Water Bottle
MK/Epcot/AK Stickers
Mickey & the Gang Figurines
The Bear Necessities
Tinker Bell Cup
Still Need to get:Disposable Camera for each child
Bags of Chips, Granola Bars and Hersey Kisses

I use Adobe Pagemaker & Photoshop for all of my typesetting. The label is just a regular Office Max type label I got from work! ;) It's a 2x4 size. I got the baloo the bear graphic off the internet! There's millions of them, lots of Disney fanatics out there! :goodvibes

Oh, I just had to share something with you guys, I'm sure it something a lot of you already know, being the Disney die-hards you are...I was watching the "Season of Disney" last night on the Travel Channel and I didn't realize our Wedding Day, July 17, was the Opening Day of Disneyland back in 1955! 1 Month to Go!!
I can't believe how the time has flown, only 25 days before we leave for our second home, the AKL! :lovestruc
I've been real busy trying to finish up all my loose ends, and I've got plenty of them. :lmao: I bought some fans for my guests. I'm going to put them on each chair for the ceremony. I figured they're going to need them at the YCG in the middle of July!! They were a $1 a piece and come in a wide range of colors. I got them from www.blissweddingsmarket.com It's a great website that has lots of different wedding favors.
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/fans.jpg
On Friday, I'm going to pick up Kaitlyn and Hannah's dress from the Seamstress. It will be nice to see them in their dresses when they actually fit correctly! I bought their dresses back in January 2 sizes too big (you never know how kids are going to GROW), so they really had to be taken in. Here is the tiara I bought for their dresses.
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg286/roozlilone/tiara-1.jpg
Now for the hard part, I've been trying to figure out which earrings to wear with my dress! I'm so not good with coordinating anything, just not my thing. :worried: My sister is letting me borrow whichever pair I choose, so it doesn't cost me a thing! :cool1:

I totally agree! ::yes:: I think I needed confirmation!! I love the first ones but I think they are to big for the dress (if that makes sense) and because the third one is clear you just can't see anything. I will probably go with the second pair. The pearl is actually ivory so it goes nice with my ivory. Thanks! :goodvibes

:cool1: :cool1: My ticker is in days!! :cool1: :cool1:
Next week I start my "Extreme Makeover" :rotfl: for the VR and my 20th High School Reunion (which is right when we get back from Disney). I will start tanning next week, I'm getting highlights and a haircut on June 28th, facial/waxing :headache: Ouch on July 2, and my nails done on July 11th and then we will be off for Disney.
I still have to: Get picture frames for the cake table photos, finish putting together my programs, finish family tshirts, call Rev. Jack to go over Vows (I hope I can get in touch with him), get chips, granola bars and chocolate for the welcome bags and put together the welcome bags!! And then start packing!!
On the stressful front....I have planned for 20 people total for our VR and have paid for 20 for our illuminations DP. Now with less than a month to go, I potentially have 2 families not coming which would bring us down to 10 total! :scared1: I've been trying not to think about it because it gets me so MAD! My sister-in-law and her family has planned on coming and has a ressie at the Fort Wilderness Campground. But her son, who is a year old, is having neurological issues and has to see a specialist so they may not make it (And I completely understand her situation and her son should be her first priority!!). However, MY SISTER (long story but we don't get along and are not close to at all, but had to invite) DOES NOT HAVE A RESERVATION!! Does anyone else see a problem with that situation, being we are under a month? :confused3 Do I have a right to be mad at this point! She refuses to tell me her plans, when she is going to get a reservation or anything!
Has anyone else had similar problems with people backing out at the last minute!! Just curious, how did you guys handle it? It's just a VR and I'm extremely stressed, I can't imagine going through this if it was our 1st wedding! :worried:
Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

Hi Jodi. I have been lurking on your TR, and am just now joining in posting.
About your sister: I would tell her that you MUST know her plans by XXX or she will not be able to attend the DP. Period. (I know, not entirely true, but...)
I have some guests that I know are going to cause these kinds of "issues" (alos people I "had" to invite) and this is my plan for dealing with them. They won't know any different and neither will anyone else.
Of course, if they don't let you know and then show up, you have to decide if you want to kick them out or not :lmao: . "Sorry, no room at the Inn! I TOLD you to RSVP By XXX and you didn't!" :cool2:

Hi Jodi!
I am SO glad that I found your PJ. I can't tell you how similar you and the DH seem to be to the DH and I. We had a very small wedding as well. And in the course of our marriage, the DH lost both his parents. Everything that you have planned for your VR sounds like what I have imagined for our "oneday" VR.
Your dress is beautiful! (And I have to add that I like the strapless look also!) I think everything is going to be perfect, and it's wonderful that you're able to have your dream "wedding". I think you definitely deserve it! Your girls are precious, and definitely look like princesses in their dresses. I am sure that the lockets are something that they will treasure for the rest of their lives. I LOVE the cake too, by the way. The DH and I were watching a special on the Food Network the other day that featured Disney World, and they went "behind the scenes" to shoe the makingof some of the wedding cakes. It showed how they add the little Mickey stamps, and I told my DH that I HAD to have a cake like that! VERY cute!
I really can't wait to hear how everything went...Time is ticking away!
I do have a couple of questions, if you don't mind me asking...I see that you're having an Escape renewal, which is what we will more than likely end up doing. Are you doing the dinner at 'Ohana and the DP in place of the normal "reception/cake cutting" that you normally get with the Escape package?

Thanks for the advice! It's funny you say give her a date because I've given her 2 and both have come and gone without a word. I don't even think she cares about coming to the VR. It's just everyone else is going and she doesn't want to be left out! She is the oldest out of 6 kids, so I have the "little" sister syndrome. It's hard for me to stand up for myself! :worried:

Thanks for all the great compliments, you're so sweet! It's funny we are spending 3 times as much on this VR as we did our first wedding! But it's worth every penny. We watched the same special on the Food Network just the other day! Too funny! :rotfl: I was like "that is my cake, that is my cake." You would have thought I was 5-years-old, instead almost 38 (July 1st, ugh!)
To answer your questions, NO O'hana's & the DP are not taking the place of our cake cutting reception. Here is a brief run down of our plans:
2:30-3:30 p.m.-Ceremony & Cake Cutting/First Dance at the YCG
5:15 p.m. until-O'hana's for Dinner
8:30 until-Illuminations DP at the Upper UK
We plan to cut the cake and dance at the YCG until 3:30 (gosh I haven't thought about what to do with the cake afterwards :confused3) O'hana's and the DP we had to pay extra for, it didn't come with the Escape VR. Hope that helps & thanks for reading! :goodvibes

We are staying at the AKL and not going back until after the DP! So I don't know what I would do with it, it would probably melt in the July Heat! Will they send it to our room? Or are we responsible for doing that?
Giving it away to passers by's is not a bad idea! That would be kinda cool! We are going to have sooooo many sweets that day including a groom's cake! Heck, Joe said if we only have 10 show for the DP and we paid for 20, he will "tap" some families to come and join us! :lmao: Anyone going to be at Epcot on July 17 around 8:30 p.m.?

I know what you mean...when we finally do ours, I am sure that we will be the same way with spending more on the VR than our wedding. But I think that not being able to have to wedding that I wanted is probably why I want to make this one a little more special.
We really aren't into dancing, so I didn't know if we could just skip that part and wait to cut the cake at the DP since the cake is a dessert too!! LOL
I can imagine that you did get excited when you saw your cake. Heck, I was excited to see them, and it's not even my cake!
I do have one more question for you...I think I remembered you mentioning that you didn't get as many choices for the location for the DP because you are doing the Escape package...so which locations were you able to chose from? Geezzz having the Cake at the DP is a great idea! I never really thought of doing that. ::yes:: We're not big into dancing either, we have taken some ballroom. We have been practicing a Viense Waltz to Beauty & the Beast in our living room! So we will see how it goes....
As far as the DP goes, that is where having an Escape vs. Wishes kinda stinks, IMHO. With an Escape Wedding you can ONLY pick from Japan or Morocco for your DP. Japan only holds up to 10 people so if you have more than 10 you have to use Morocco. I didn't like either location (which I described a little earlier in my PJ). Those are the only 2 options for Escape, no matter the number of people. I was soooo....lucky to get the Upper UK!! I emailed my WC and told her how disappointed I was with Morocco and she of course gave me the "sorry but these are the only Escape options" song & dance. I guess she felt bad for me or something because about a month later I got an email from her saying the Upper UK opened up and as long as I could guarantee 20 (or basically willing to pay for 20) I could have the Upper UK. The Upper UK has a minimum of 20! I don't think this is the norm. It probably depends on your WC!! But I've learned it NEVER hurts to ask! :goodvibes

Yes, I remember reading all that earlier in your PJ. I think it's sad that Escape brides can only chose from those 2 locations. Otherwise, you have to commit to spending at least $10,000. I don't really understand the reasoning behind that. I am just VERY glad that you were able to change to the Upper UK! I did see the pics of Morocco that you took on your site visit, and I don't blame you for wanting to change.

Hopefully, things will start changing now there are cake options for Escape brides. Just because we want a more intimate event with less people doesn't mean we don't want to customize it. As far as the DP goes, I feel the UK, France & Italy are the prime and best locations for a dessert party and they need to open it up to Escape Brides somehow. :goodvibes

Just because we want a more intimate event with less people doesn't mean we don't want to customize it.

Getting excited is an understatement! Joe is a teacher so he is home with the girls this summer! They are driving me crazy they want to go so bad. At least I have work to keep me distracted.

I can't believe people are even thinking about backing out from attending your wedding! I can't even think of a word to describe that  I know your nephew as an illness but don't you usually book specialists way in advance? I don't mean to come off as being insensitive just odd that they wouldn't have known in advance of your rsvp date. I hope it all works out for you. Try not to stress about it too much. Focus on the reunion and your makeover. Those are always fun :goodvibes

Thanks! I'm trying not to think about it too much, at least that is what Joe keeps telling me to do! He would be happy with the 4 of us and no-one else (I would too), but I'm very close to my family so it does hurt a little. I completely understand my sister-in-law's situation....my nephew has been a healthy 1-year-old learning to walk etc. but his doctor recently noticed his right arm and leg are not the same length or size as his left side. And he has trouble walking. So they set up an appt on June 25 for him to see a specialist about 2 hours away from home. Depending on what the problem is and what is required, surgery etc. that will determine if they can go. So I understand and just hope he is okay! But my sister is just being....well her typical self! I am looking forward to my mini makeover. ::yes:: I don't normally spend money on getting my hair or nails done! :goodvibes

Yeah, we got the dresses back from the Seamstress today! :cool1: :cool1: The girls were dying to try them on now that they aren't 2 sizes too big! Let's hope they don't grow any in the next couple of weeks!

In other news, which I've posted in a different thread, I'm been contemplating whether or not to attempt a change in location for the VR. We've had some pretty serious medical issues with my older sister (my MOH for my first wedding & my best friend). She is still going but lets just say the heat and her do not agree (she was hospitalized recently due to the heat). And, of course, I managed to pick the hottest time of day at probably the hottest location. At this point, I'm not sure if there is much we can do, we are only 3 weeks out but I at least wanted to try. I was thinking of the SBP because at least it is completely in the shade. I would LOVE :lovestruc the WP but that's $1000 more! :worried: So, on Monday I'm going to contact my WC to see what she suggests, if any. I'll let you guys know how it goes. :goodvibes
