We have some newer people around these days and I thought it would be nice to introduce ourselves. :thumbsup2

Tell us what your DISer name means, and your real name if you want to.

Mine is just my name, not very creative. My name is Shannone (don't pronounce the e). My mom just wanted me to be different and all my life people have been calling me Shan-one or Sha-known :rolleyes1 It's just Shannon ;)

My mom didn't want me to be different, I just turned out that way.

No originality in my user name - I just like to be known as Ftwildernessguy. I even make my kids call me that.

I'm Jamie.

Since I was a member of several forums before finding the Dis, I just kept using the same name for all of them to keep it easy to remember. The first forum site I joined was lawnsite.com where we talk about lawn maintenance and landscaping. I have a landscape business which Lawn Specialties is the company's name.

Our family loves to camp but since I'm a full-time firefighter and a landscaper, warm weather trips are few and far between. But Fort Wilderness in January is right up my alley.:thumbsup2

We leave next friday for our second January trip. The first was in '06 which was when I found out about disboards. Just getting away from here for ten days with my wife and sons is good enough, it really wouldn't matter where we went. :)

My DIS name is for what I do for a living. I do emissions testing on smokestacks at places such as power plants, asphalt plants, cement and chemical plants. If it has a stack I'll test it lol.

A lot of people think I climb in the top of the stack and test it there but I actually test them about 1/2 way up the stack. We use a sampling probe that extracts the gas out of the gas stream and the sample is either run thru an analyzer or taken to a lab for analasys. So there's your stacktesting lesson for the day lol. If you ever look at a stack when you drive by a facility they will usually have a platform about in the middle. I'll put a DIS'er sticker on the side of the stack so you'll know if I am testing it. Oh, and if anybody wants to know what's the wierdest stack you've ever seen it was in Winston, NC. The cigarette plant has stacks that are painted as a cigarette. CCIntrigue has probably seen tham.

Horses are a passion of mine. I'm just plain crazy to feed and take care of 3 (2000lbs each) I read once that the average horse produces 9 ton of manure in a yr. 9x3=27 ton Thankfully they spend 1/2 of each day outside but I still personally have to pitch by hand the remaining 13.5 tons.:headache:

It's a job best done every day. Only takes about 30 minutes. If we go away for a few days I have my grown kids do chores. I never ask that they clean stalls. I'm always thankful that they come and feed. When we return home I do play my weak female excuse with my husband and get him to help out then:thumbsup2

What a cute idea, Shannone!

Well, back when MK was the whole world, I stayed at the Polynesian for my very first trip to WDW. I have been hooked ever since. I love all the lush gardens and peaceful tropical feel~almost as gorgeous as the real Hawaiian islands. You could even swim at the beach back then~anybody remember that? Seeing the castle and the fireworks on the horizon is just too magical to put into words! As much as I love, love, love FtW~there is nothing like that first love :lovestruc My 3 daughters first trip to WDW was also at the Poly. Ahhhh, memories!

Pixie, well, I just like pixies. Totally believe in them! Plus it flows~Polynesian Pixie. I'm also not exactly tall. Quite short, actually. So, it fits.

I've also been known to answer to Mommy, "Hey, Miss?", and Ami. When I colored with crayon on the hearth and poured bleach and ruined the floor, I was called "Ami Melissa!" Sorry, thinking back on my first trip to the Poly made me feel like a kid again.

My name is pretty self-explanatory, however, I will explain.

Auburn - The loveliest village on the plains of Alabama and the place where I graduated from.

Jen- My first name.

92- The first time I graduated from Auburn.

I am a high school softball coach and instructional media technology specialist at my HS and basically I teach the teachers how to run all the tech stuff at our school.

Other than work, going to Auburn games and going to Disney, there isn't much else.;)

Hi, I'm Gatordad, I'm addicted to camping

Dis Boards "Hi Gatordad"

I picked Gatordad, because that's where I want my kids to go to school. So much so I started my MBA there. My real name is Pete, and out of everyone on this board, I probably like Disney the least. However, I love the people at the Fort, and the fellow disboarders. Even Pixie and Dreambound, but not Rog or Stacktester, well maybe a little, but not too much, in a manly way of course.

i am the head of a videoconferencing dept at a med school in Philly. DH is a cop ::cop: and we have a 13 YO DS and a 3 YO DD (yes, that is a 9 year gap and no, i don't know what i was thinking.)

I think mine is self explanatory. I love Mickey. I thought it looked cute too.
I can now say I LOVE the Fort too but Mickey was first so that is how I ended up with that name. Two years ago we were planning our first trip (staying onsite) and we were originally staying at Wilderness Lodge. Then we bought our motorhome and decided it was silly not to take it to Disney and stay at their campground. We have been hooked every since. We have been twice and have our trip booked for this year trying to make it at least once a year!
If I tell you my real name then I gotta kill you. :lmao: :lmao:
Just kidding. I just like saying that for some strange reason.

Shannone, I'm gonna get you a job driving in NASCAR. Since you've been doing the poll questions lately I figure if I got you a car to drive you might sit on the pole every week. Now what's sad as I'm writing that sentence I've got to worry that Rog is going to turn the whole pole thing around. Not that kinda pole Rog. :rotfl: :rotfl: The starting pole as in behind the pace car, inside lane. Nevermind, I'm just gonna have to keep diggin myself out of that one.

Hi :wave2: I'm Deb. I've been kicking around the boards for years and seem to post sporatically.

I am the mother of 3 boys thus the name my3princes :lovestruc

I am married to Chris aka kitchensinkguy (yep he ate the entire kitchensink at Beaches and Cream all by himself in 39 minutes 39 seconds)

We honeymooned at FW in 1992, but didnt' become addicted until we took the oldest 2 sons back in 1998. Since then we have become totally addicted and are now DVC members. We love camping at FW and typically take our camper down from Vermont every 3 years or so. It is our favorite campground hands down.

I pride myself in being a stay at home Mom, but also have a part time evening job waitressing at a local restaurant. That is our Mickey Money. The more I work the more I get to see the mouse. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Its a great way to spend time with one of your kids when not camping at the fort. In the summer we'll put in some easy rides of 50 miles to prep her for our annual MS 150 charity ride.

I spend my days as an insurance account manager for trucking companies and my evenings planning our next camping trip. If you haven't been able to tell, I'm soooooo excited to get to the Fort. My real life name is Denise, I spend my day-time hours working at a bank, I have been going to FW since sometime in the early 1980's when my dad first took me and I have carried that on with my sons and hopefully someday way in the future, my grandchildren.

By the way, Stacktester, when I first saw your name my mind went in a whole different direction, I am not sure why. The library at PSU has a wing called the stacks, and there is a tradition to umm well ummm you know. And for some reason that is what I thought. Sorry

As for the first half (Capt) I have been and still currently hold a Coast Guard Master license. I've been a licensed captain for better'n 32 years now and still work in the marine industry. Started out running charter boats in the 70's, moved to the oil industry offshore in Lousyanna in the 80's and now own\operate a marine repair facility. Well did do a short stint in law enforcement but wasn't any money in it.

My husband was a SeaBee, Construction Mechanic to be exact in the navy, before he was injured. He is the one who originally registered on the board, but I have hijacked it. :)

My name is Nicole, and I run a photography studio in Maine, as well as sell Lia Sophia jewelry part time. We took our camper down to the fort for the first time in October 07, and fell in love. We had always stayed at the SOG, but now all we talk about is the fort. We will be returning in Oct. and can't wait. Thanks guys for being the best place to get info!:cheer2:

You all sound like a fun group... A lot like my racing forums...I'm heading back to FW (3rd time) this March so I figured I'd hang out here to get some more ideas.

About the name... My first name is Jim, and I've raced something since I was 15. I crewed on a late model for about 10 years until we adopted my DS10. I've been nascar-j since my first e-mail address years ago and have kept it on all the forums I'm on. (mostly racing and camping forums)

And I'm a nurse but in administration now. I manage performance improvement for perioperative services for a VERY large midwestern hospital.

Hi there, another one here who lurks more than she types. I also highjacked DH's name. He is a chemical lab superviser, thus the name testtubes which he has used for years. I am a retired school teacher who is really enjoying life right now. I also enjoy reading all about Fort Wilderness and have been there in 1985, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2001, and 2005. Next trip planned for Dec. 2008. (The trips can come more often now that the kids are grown!) Oh yes, we live in southwest Louisiana and are about a 12 hr. drive from the fort. My name is Karen, and now that I'm more than just a lurker it feels good to be "out."

My sisters and I had names that were spelled strangely so our kids all have traditional names and spelling. I'm sure my kids will give their kids different names because they think theirs were "boring". And so it goes. ;)

I don't know how how you are Lisa, but I am 35. When I was in school Shannon, Rebecca, Lisa, Jennifer and Michelle were the most popular names.

As for tent camping....whenever we are set up for at least a week somewhere, we bring the tent and the kids sleep out there. It's good for everyone to have their own space. And Chad and I get the motorhome all to ourselves :woohoo:

Hey everybody. I am really in a slump. We got home from FW well over a month ago and I want to go back. I was hoping to run into 1 or 2 of you while we were there but we didn't, we were in the 2000 loop.
My name means exactly what is says I have 5 beautiful children. My DH Matt and I have DD 8princess: she is the next Cinderella, and DD 6 princess: , DS 6pirate: , DS 6pirate: , and DD 6princess: . Yes they are all the same age. Next month they all have a birthday so they are soon to be 9 and 7. My claim to fame was 5 children under the age of 2 for 13 days. We have been to Disney several times. This was our first time staying on the grounds, and for a family of 7 the ONLY way we could swing it and I don't think I would want it any other way. We had a great time, that is after we finally got there. I haven't posted the story yet because it makes me mad. Our pop-up broke down on the way down and we had to leave it in SC. I just wasn't prepared for such a change in plans. Any hoots I have enjoyed reading about everybody. BTW I'm Loretta in NC and yes we're expecting snow tonight, ugh I work on the weekends.

Auntie here...boy that sounds boring. So many of you have such colorful stories to go along with your names. Me..I'm just "Auntie" but I love it. I am the oldest of four children, and was married at 18 to my high school sweetheart and we've been married for 31 years.:lovestruc I started my family earlier then my siblings. I was a mom and had four kids of my own before I ever became an Aunt and was really looking forward to it. Since my name is Phyllis(named after my grandmother Filomenia) my nieces always had trouble pronouncing it..and didn't call me anything until they were 5. When my sister had her first child..I told her "please..just have the baby call me "Auntie"..it's easier". Well, she did just that and it stuck. That was 10 years ago. Now I'm everyone's favorite "Auntie!"

My own kids are 16, 20, and 27. We were to FW many years ago, and stayed in the cabins...and have been to the WL many times and always bike through the campground. We plan our first FW trip in the camping loops for August of this year!

01-18-2008, 04:59 PM
I have been a lurker on the boards for years, only recently set up an account to start posting. My DW has been on the boards for a while as disneynan. Well, when I went to set up mine, the only creative thing I could come up with was "disneydan", but it was already taken. I just added the number 4 in the middle for a play on words.

We have 3 kids, DS15, DD9 (my little angel) and DS7. Our first introduction to the internet boards was RADP back when we had to decide whether to keep our reservations and go when DD was 1 yo. Lots of great advice then.

I am an environmental scientist, and work to clean up contamination on commercial and industrial property. I grew up in the time when rivers would change color based on what dye was being used in the factory, and watched all the news stories about Love Canal and the other places that made the news back in the 70s.

We love to camp and can not wait for our August trip to the fort. This will be our celebration trip after our DS15 successfully gets through his second surgery this year. I think this will be our 9th trip to WDW in total - will need to check DW's signature line to be sure! Anyway, it's great to be here and expect we'll be making many more trips to the Fort over the years.

Our last name is Miller so we are the Millermouseketeers! My daughters and I thought of the name. We have 3 kids, DD 14, DD 11, DS 9. We love Disney and fell in love with the fort on an overnight tent stay in 12 '06 before moving to POR. After that, we bought a pop-up and have been lucky enough to stay at the fort in it twice. Just got back from 12 '07 and looking forward to our first July 4th at the fort! It is a long haul from Texas but worth it.

My dh is an army chaplain and I am a stay at home, homeschooling momma. I love disney and FW. Took our first trip there for our youngest dd's 1st bday. We were in tent, then bought a popup for the fort, now am in a tt.

Still can't post pics here, when I get back, I will just have to slam Rog with all of my pics and give him something constructive to do posting them for me. :wizard:

My kids have easy to spell names, and they're not weird, just not common. They seem happy with them, so maybe we've found middle ground. :)

My 2 are still a little young to sleep in a tent, but they'll be old enough soon! I'd love a motorhome or a bigger trailer. Instead we chose private school, for now.

Hi Campers!

I am LiteBrite here on the DIS, and it was literally the first thing that popped into my head as my fingers hovered over the keyboard during the DIS registration process. I have no special love for the toy by the same name, never even owned one.

I do, however, have a special love for Fort Wilderness. Hubby, DD, and I have camped there many times - first time in a borrowed pop-up, which was enough to convince us to buy a pop-up of our own. After several years, we moved up to a bunkhouse travel trailer, which we enjoyed for several more years.

A couple of years ago we sold our beloved trailer, and we haven't been back to the Fort since. We've been enduring our exile to the wilds of Pop Century in the meantime, but we miss the Fort way too much, so we're considering tent camping this May. I never thought I'd hear myself say that, but that's just how much we miss FW.

Oh, and I'm a piano teacher and a part-time missionary. Hubby and I are hoping to be on the mission field full-time soon.

Don't know why but in High School they took my last name and changed it to "the Brumeiser" I guess the Bru was the first 3 letters of my last name and they added the meiser to the end of it. My handle, Bama ED, is a combo ticket also -

First, my first/last name initials also spell my first name, which is "Ed".

Second, I am a huge, passionate-but-reasonable, Alabama Crimson Tide fan. College football is in my blood. I grew up in Tuscaloosa, am a season ticket holder, and have been going to games for 30 years now. I am sympathetic to those fans less fortunate than us (which is everyone else) and especially our poor brothers and sisters down on the Plains (that's a shout-out to AuburnJen92 :rotfl2: )

I have 3 kids DS15, DS13, and DD9 plus a DW who like to camp at FW (although DW likes "camping" at a Holiday Inn better!). In 2007 we camped 32 nights in our pop-up which we use to go to FW and the Alabama Gulf Coast the most).

Home is in Hoover, AL which is a suburb of Birmingham. I slave away with AT&T and dream of the day when I can take the pop-up and spend 3-4 weeks at a stretch at FW rather than 1 week at the most.

I first went to the Fort in 1981 and I enjoy the "kitchy", sentimental, cheesy side of the Fort. I miss the old train that used to run the grounds (which was maybe gone before I even went to the Fort the first time but I saw the tracks). I miss River Country. I love the campfires and sing-a-longs with Chip, Dale, and Sundee. I miss the peacocks. I love the front porch of the Meadow Trading Post. I miss the musket Mickey logo. I love taking a walk or bike ride early in the morning at the Fort as the sun cuts through the Spanish moss. I like the HDDR. My blood pressure drops down into normal range while I'm at the Fort.

Plus, I think ya'll are crazy about FW and camping (just like I am) :3dglasses

Or we have skimmer's lazy eye syndrome!

I forgot to mention that the 1500 loop (Cottonatail Curl) is where I feel most at home at, although I figure everyone already knows that.

The first time I went to Fort Wilderness we weren't staying there. I was a kid, it was '80 I think, and we took a boat over to check it out. They had me at Howdy. It was dark, we walked around and checked out the store and went to the campfire area to watch the movie for a few minutes, I fell for it back then. 17 years and many thousands of dollars in Mickey's pocket later, I can't stay away.

Yes, Disney and Homeschooling, my two favorite things.

PolyPixie, I have a dd6. They are something at that age huh?! When did you start? There is a topic in the family forum for homeschoolers called **homeschool list**. They have been trying to get their own forum. We should start a topic here called **FW homeschoolers**. It could get VERY interesting. If you want we can either start a new topic, or you can PM me with more info and I can give you any help that you need. I have been homeschooling for about 7 years now and have used or been in contact with just about every curriculum out there. I use an ecclectic mix of them all. :rotfl: :hippie:

CaptKen, GREAT!!! now I need to go check under all the mattresses, except mine, I already know what is under there. :rotfl2: ;)

I have noticed a few FW homeschoolers. I tend to notice that HSers have similar interests. Many own campers and travel. I love being able to go to WDW and FW when everyone else is in school. How freeing!!!

Cottontail Curl, that is my favorite loop as well. I sometimes wish we had kept the popup so we could stay there. I just bought a small tent for the boys to be in this trip. I am keeping my eye out for a bigger tent to have just in case I get the urge for a trip and can't get a full hookup site. We can stay in a tent. We already have air mattresses and I don't cook at FW, so all we need is a tent and we don't have to worry. It is so much easier to get a partial site. Hey, even if we can only get full hookup during the week and need to tent the weekend we arrive and leave, it could work.

My name has nothing to do with WDW. In the late 80's there was a TV show titled "Coach". One of the characters was called Dauber. When I was pregnant with twins, DH and I started calling the twins "Daubers" for some unknown reason...I assume hormones and not knowing their sex. It stuck and has been used on other forums. My twins are 16 now.

I feel so boring. :surfweb: I want to change my name. DH suggest tanlines, but the numbers would have to start all over again and everyone would think i was new. l is for the my first name Laura and the rest is my last name. I am a legal secretary and mom of 4. We love camping at FW for the 4th of July, though we will have to miss it this year because the Coast Guard has transferred DH to Yorktown, Virginia until he retires in August. Since it would be pointless for us to sell the house and move to Virginia just to move back to Florida 7 months later, we will have the added expense of two households and travel expenses so we can see him while he is up there.(we didn't even renew our Disney passes:sad1: ) If we pinch our pennies enough, we hope to stay in October for halloween so we can at least do a golf cart parade like they do in July.:thumbsup2

Love these boards. Hope to meet everyone in FW once our lives return to normal.

Not to get off-topic but instead, just noticing a point here.

Is it not surprising how many of us Fort fiends are also home-schoolers? :thumbsup2

Yes, Disney and Homeschooling, my two favorite things.

I have noticed a few FW homeschoolers. I tend to notice that HSers have similar interests. Many own campers and travel. I love being able to go to WDW and FW when everyone else is in school. How freeing!!!

I am a homeschooler who made it to the finish line! :rotfl2: I homeschooled DD (my only child) all the way from kindergarten through high school graduation. She's a 20yo college student now, doing very well, so I must not have screwed her up too bad. ;)

I think my name says it all.

Just a little backstory, my name is Chris (41 and a Gov't. contractor which means I do all the work and make the big buck$), DW's is Michele (newly 43 and a school teacher and Director of Technology at a private school) although for some strange reason everyone in my office knows her as The Wife. Why I refer to her that way I don't know but when I'm calling her or talking to her it is usually BabyDoll. DS is Matthew, soon to be 16 and a sophmore in high school. We live in Northern Virginia (I'm a lifer, DW grew up in Baltimore). Anything else? Oh yeah, we love Disney. We've made many trips but only started camping in '04. I did tent camp at the Fort with the Boy Scoutes in '79 though. It sure has changed.

We are a family of 5. Me, DH, DD(13), DD(11), and DS(9). We live in Atlantic Canada and tow our 32" TT to WDW for the Xmas/ New Years holiday for the last 4 years. That is over 30 hours of driving but all worth it when the kids start the countdown as we approach the Welcome sign. DH is a farmer and we farm wild blueberries and he runs our 1000 hives of honeybees. I'm in the middle of a career change and am studying to be a nurse. Our friends usually call us Tom, Krista, Lauren, Lindsay and Ben. The cats are Nemo and Jack and the dog is , you guessed it, Boomer.:thumbsup2

I have a very vivid memory of the same thing as a child! We never stayed at FtW because my dad doesn't camp. Somebody mentioned "camping" at the Holiday Inn earlier~ I think camping to my dad is anything without club level :rotfl: . Anyway, we went to HDDR (the year it opened I think~'78?), in the dark, we took the boat over, and I remember walking through the woods and over a stone pathway (no clue where this was :confused3 ) and thinking it was the coolest place!

I just started. It is something I have been thinking about for a long time anyway. Right now, it is just my DD6 because she really needs that individualized attention. If all goes well, I'm hoping to gradually add my other 2 DDs. The schools are great here, they like going and they are honor role students, so I don't feel like it is a rush. I will PM you with some questions~thank you so much!!!!

I used to be "SueinSac" back in 1999 and I lived near Sacramento, CA. But in 2006 we had to move :confused3 , so...

Now I'm in Texas, and--sorry, native Texans--still working on the enthusiasm part of being here. When I started reading the DISboards again in 2006, I was biding my time in a little apartment with three kids, school was out for summer, and it kept raining like I've never seen before. Feeling a bit(?) trapped, and having every version of "SueinTexas" rejected as a possible screen name, "Escape Artist" just flowed out of my fingers into the keyboard, without me even really thinking about it.

It's a pretty good description on my vacation style. I get antsy if I stay home too long, and am always cooking up some new getaway.

I also have a special needs son whose future I am very worried about. So my little "Escape Artist" handle also works for me when I get too bogged down in IEP's and medical specialists and worries about the future. Escape from real life, take me away! :goodvibes

'alphabetsoup' refers to my career...I'm a university lecturer with a BA, finishing a PhD that uses EM, CA, and MCA to study IRC which is a form of CMC...geeze...I could go on and on and on!

Hi,

Well, I use to post on this forum all the time a few years ago, but we stopped camping for awhile and started cruising instead. Now, we are going back to camping with our two Boston Terriers (Hope & JR) as we hated having to leave them behind when we cruised.

My name- M for Mickey (my fav.character-though everyone calls me Minnie at work). mketeer for mouseketeer. I worked for Disney for 10 years beginning my career at the Disney Store back when Disney still owned the stores and ended my Disney stint at DRC.

I got DH hooked and now it is a tradition that my DS's (17 and 14) say they plan on continuing when they have families of their own. Well, Colson39 is the most boring name you could ever have.

I lurked for years on the DIS, I was a big poster over on that OTHER Disney Forumcot. However, their camping forum is VERY inactive compared to this one, here we get lots of posts in a day, there you might get just a few in a day.

Finally I decided to start posting here, mainly because it is a much larger community, there is TONS more information here, and because of two main reasons:

a) You are allowed to post pictures here (which really enhance the experience)

b) This forum isn't moderated to the nTH degree

That OTHER forum is moderated with an iron fist. Anything that isn't 100% rated G is locked. If you start speculating too much, they lock it. It's really nuts how stringent they are. I rememeber when there was a shooting at the Boardwalk a few years ago, I posted a thread talking about it, and what kind of actions were being taken.

Not only was my thread instantly locked, I actually received a message from the head of the site. He was like, "Sorry we had to lock your thread, but this is a family friendly site, and we prefer not to talk about the shooting right now". That was pretty much when I decided to come here.

Woah, I got way off topic. Anyways, so yea, I came here, and instead of making a cool Disney name, I was in a rush and made boring Colson39. Colson is obviously the initials of my first and last name, 39 is just a random favorite number kind of thing.

BORING :/

It helps me remember there are others out there that share my Disney jones! DH isn't into Disney at all, but I've made sure to warp my kids' minds from very early.

My screen name reflects our location, about 70 miles from Disneyland, in San Diego county. We take "day trips" up there all the time. Simple as that.

Someone said earlier that their name was way too popular when they were a kid, there were lots of classmates with the same name. My name, Alyssa, was really out there when I was growing up in the 70's and 80's, but came into huge popularity when I became an adult. Now I share my name with hundreds of teens and pre-teens! Any time I'm in a mall, grocery store, etc., and a mom is looking for her daughter, I always answer to a shouted, "Alyssa!" I was always the only one as a kid!!

First and only trip to WDW was in late 2006, in a cabin. One of the best decisions of the trip, according to hubby.

The Nana is because that is what the grandbabies call be (Nana Banana). We brought our kids to Fort Wilderness many times and now we're bringing our grandkids. Hi Everyone,

Bliss Chaser.....just like chasing my bliss, thats what its all about.

I am a massage therapist and my husband is a software engineer. We could not be more different. In essence, we are Dharma and Greg. We have two kids, 15 and 6....yes, 9 years apart, wasn't there someone else with that same age range? What were we thinking? They are Logan and Kennedy, I realize they are both named after airports but it was not intentional, I swear. And no......the next one will not be O'Hare, although I do like the name Reagan for a girl.......hmm, I suppose it is a good thing I'm done! My mother lives with us, and we call her our 3rd kid...which is an apt description. Ever seen King of Queens? 'Nuff said.

I homeschooled my son for 2 years until we relocated and he wanted to go to school to meet kids, plus he's in high school now. The schools here are great, but I will be homeschooling my DD next year, so maybe we should have a FW homeschool meet up.

So far I'm loving the boards and appreciate the warm welcomes!

Hi Everyone!

This thread was a great idea Shannon. I was not able to log on last night - too much other stuff to do. I had to read 12 pages this morning, but it was all very interesting. Once I started coming to this forum, I was so curious about the people on here.... like auntie... I am very nosey!

My user name is a combination of my daughter's names - Abbey and Audrey. My daughters are very young, so I primarily stay at home with them. I am a CPA and work on my clients from the house. On occassion, I will go and visit them at their offices, but mostly work at home. My husband and I have a side business that most of you know about, but as I am writing this, we have decided that we are probably going to shut that one down. I think we are just going to enjoy the Fort ourselves. We are down to one camper and I think we are just going to use it personally..... it was fun while it lasted!!

By the way - I still do not know what BDR does for a living. I was so curious when I read this, but he never said.

Hi BigDaddyRog: I visited your site and think more of you now than I did before. To me, it does not matter what you do for a living - what is important is the person you are!! I would not be ashamed of your profession. I know plenty of people who would consider their jobs respectable (other CPA's and lawyers), but they are not good people. Be proud of who you are. You seem to have a great family and a good heart!!!

The first time I registered for the DIS board, many many years ago I registered as Snow White because I kept 6 children and we always joked the my husband was my 7 dwarf to take care of!!
Well when we had to re-register someone beat me to my name so I just added my first name to it - so I am now Ellen aka Snow White.

"Song of the South" is my favorite Disney movie of all time. I've always loved Uncle Remus! I'm 6'3" and a biscuit over 300lb, so I resemble a Bear much more so than a rabbit! Hence; Brer Bear!:woohoo:

I'm known as Erv8097 on RV.net and "Stench" or "St3nch" is my gaming handle for any old geeks like me who still play BF2 or COD4 type games online.

Well I initially found this site after my very first trip that included staying on property. That was in 1997. From about 1974 to 1997 I went to the Magic Kingdom about ten times but never ever stayed on site. When I was able to take my family for a four day, three night trip to POR I thought this is it, I've had the best time in my life that I am ever going to have I walked around DW like a tourist in NYC.

In 1997 I swear I could read every new post on every forum. There weren't even half as many I don't think. - You guys correct me if I'm wrong. Fell in love with the people here back then but mainly just lurked. I was very proficient at my job back then and I probably spent an average of six hours a day reading everything on the site. I used to love the trip reports. Remember "Love Ya - Mean It!" My family still doesn't get that one all together. I'm sure they are still good now too but there are so many it's little overwhelming.

Okay I went on a bit there. The good thing is you can just keep scrolling...

I just re-joined on Monday this week. We got our first new TT and I had to share my excitement so I came here. I was a happy camper while signing up so happy camper came real easy. 87 is the year I graduated. I was born in 1969 so I didn't want to use the year I was born, I was afraid people might get the wrong idea. Yeah, that means I'm 39(and holding on for dear life!).

Really, age doesn't matter to me at all but I do want to live long enough to enjoy my grandchildren, I was born to be a grandma. And, enjoy my retirement which I am saving all I can for. I want to own the perfect RV for me and DH and visit every major state park in the country. It will probably cost about $125 a night by then so I hope I'm not 80 by the time I save enough.

I have 3 kids DS(18) DD(15) and so pretty it's scary DD(10) and so smart she's scary. I'll take boys every time! These girls are wearing me down. DH is a great stay-at home dad right now construction has died in Southwest Florida. But, I like that he is here to keep a tight reign on DD(15).

I've already met several people on the site that I think a lot of. I can't wait to get to know you all better.

My name is Liz. And I am a Happy Camper:)

Nothing wrong with working in the entertainment industry. My experiences in the entertainment industry include food and beverage work for Sea World in Ohio, a few summers as a Carny cheating people out of...er...guessing ages, weights and birthdays on a scale, and as a bouncer in one of the largest discos that ever existed in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I have a good friend who lives near Toronto who used to do the same job as you and you guys could be twins. First time I saw your picture I had to do a double-take to make sure it wasn't him. He and I were in New Orleans about 7 years ago for a Microsoft Certified Trainer conference and we, (along with a bunch of other trainers) spent WAY too much money in a club on Bourbon Street. I couldn't tell you if we were in your club or not (alchohol WAS involved, after all) :thumbsup2 but Paul kept looking around with this wistful look on his face, then he got this HUGE smile on his face and said, "I used to DJ in a place just like this one."

When we were looking at houses over here, my husband--who is a native Buckeye--sang this little ditty:
What's round on the end and "Hi" in the middle?
Tell me if you know.
Don't you think that's a cute little riddle
Round on the end and "Hi" in the middle
You can find it on the map if you look high and low.
O-H-I-O That's the riddle!
Round on the end and "Hi" in the middle.

One of the first movies I saw as a kid was Pete's Dragon. After that my favorite toy for years was a stuffed Elliott (whom I gave a hair cut when I was five and it surprisingly never grew back!) When I had to choose my screen name I had just shown my kids Pete' Dragon and it took me back to being a kid again (in a good way, not in the way I normally act like a child). It is funny that movies like Pete's Dragon , or Escape to Witch Mountain don't get promoted by Disney the way they do some of their other films. I guess it is all about the bottom line.

We were at the fort last July cause they wanted to go to WDW for their high school graduation present instead of a party. But I actually go by Winnie, after my grand-ma whom I was named after. So it was bound to happen that I would fall in love with the silly "olbear"...hence my board name! And that's my story!

Blessings,
Winnie

Ya know, I think the selection process you went through to come up with that name is pretty impressive. You're a thinker, aren't you?
