How did I just find this out today? I have skimmed tons of information over the last several months, and today(3 days before our trip), I read that the ddp goes by how many nights you are staying. We have reservations for 6 TS meals already. The only meal I didn't plan on eating there all 6 days was breakfast on Saturday. We have a late flight on our last day so we should be there for all meals. I assumed that a 6 day vacation meant 6 days of dining. Now along with the gratuity we will have even more out of pocket expenses. Just great! Can we add one more day to the ddp? or would it not be worth it?
FYI, We will be there 6 days/5 nights.
I am still so excited about our first trip to Disneyworld, but I feel bad that my dh's aunt had no warning about this extra expense as well.

No, you won't be able to add a day to the dining portion.

I'm really bad about not reading the details. You may want to look through the "Sticky" threads on this board. Have a fun trip!

You will have 5 TS credits to use whenever you want during the 6 days you are there.
If you are short one credit, pick your least expensive meal (breakfast or lunch) and pay OOP for that one.
Another ? Do you have any 2TS meals? There are a few out there that you'd be better off conserving the credit and paying OOP for that one meal.
Just thought of another place to shave a credit - Beaches & Cream - NOT worth a TS IMO. Burgers there are all about $8 each.

You can't add an extra day just dining plan, and I'm sure you don't want to pay for another night's stay, but it still shouldn't be too bad. If you want to keep all your reservations/plans, just take a look at the menus listed on the dining section of DIS. Figure out which of the meals is going to be the least expensive. Then when you get to that one to check in and they ask you if you have the dining plan, tell them no. Then just pay out of pocket, and no sweat, you're good. Sure it's a slightly higher expense if you weren't expecting it, but at least it's easy to mitigate. You may decide not to order as much food at the out of pocket meal too which will help too.

Thanks everyone! I was just having a pre-trip freakout. I keep thinking I am going to forget something, miss something, etc. that will mess up our trip. I just want everyone to have a great time and I know once we are there we will!

The rationale of basing on nights is due to check in not being until mid to late afternoon and check out being by 11 a.m.
