Good Morning Riddlers........

today is all about Swaffergies...

what is a swaffergy, you ask? :confused3

A Swaffergy is a word that can be broken up into two parts: a different word and a letter of the English Alphabet.

The word defense is a common Swaffergy. It can be broken up into the letter D , and the word Fence . As a Swaffergy, it would be written like this:

D + A structure serving as an enclosure, a barrier, or a boundary, usually made of posts or stakes joined together by boards, wire, or rails.

Which will give you D-Fence , or defense .

Can you find the following Swaffergies? PM Me with your answer:

1. A + Maize

2. B + an open receptacle with a flat bottom and a low rim for holding, carrying, or exhibiting articles

3. C + A male descendant

4. D + A clamping device

Have a great day!

This dog that posts around here told me to check this out but I have to tell you....I don't get it. Why would you want to put the letter D on your fence? Unless of course your name is Donald Duck in which case you would put DD. That however might attract a whole different sort of bloke to your door. Oh my, I seem to have gone astray.

Anyway, none of this makes any sense. What does make sense is saving money on your car insurance and that is no riddle. It is as plain as the nose on my face. Well I don't really have a nose but you know what I mean.

Actually, it's an ongoing saga. The short story is that my truck has been in the shop 5 times in the last 2 weeks for the same issue. They replace different parts each time, drive it for a day, and say it's ready to get picked up. I pick it up, drive a half mile, and the light comes on again!!!!! They take another look and find something else broken. Replace a new part, drive it for a day, and less than a mile after I pick it up, the light is on yet again!

They are no longer charging me for the rest of the repairs for this issue, since they have failed to fix it so far, plus the inconvenience I've had of going back and forth to the shop. This repair shop has been really good to us over the last 7 years and we actually trust them to do a good job for a fair price.

OK, I guess that wasn't such a short story.

Unfortunately, that was replaced during the second trip last week. I'll have them check that again, because maybe the new one doesn't seal like it should. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Wombats are stout, sturdy marsupials. They grow to about 1.3 metres in length, and can weigh up to 36 kg. They have a large, blunt head with small eyes and ears, and a short, muscular neck. Their sharp claws and stubby, powerful legs make them great diggers. Wombats have been known to live for up to 27 years in captivity.

Nice of you to participate today, duck. ;) PRIORITIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dismorgh
01-16-2008, 02:54 PM
The common wombat lives mainly in wet, partly forested areas on the coast, and on the ranges and western slopes.

The southern hairy-nosed wombat prefers dry, open country. Southern hairy-nosed wombats are very rare, and until recently were thought to be extinct in NSW. They are currently listed as endangered.

dismorgh
01-16-2008, 02:55 PM
Some more trivia:

Wombats spend between three and eight hours each night grazing on their favourite food, which is native grasses such as the tussocky 'snow grass', wallaby grass and kangaroo grass. They will also eat sedges and the roots of shrubs and trees. They cut their food with sharp, chisel-like front teeth which grow continuously. A wombat may wander up to 3 km a night looking for food.

Mnementh
01-16-2008, 02:56 PM
This is what came up in a Google search for a hairy-nosed wombat:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

A wombat can reproduce after it reaches two years of age. Mating occurs between September and December, and usually results in one offspring. The newborn wombat, which weighs only 1 g and is less than 3 cm long, has to crawl from the birth canal into the mother's pouch. This pouch faces backwards, which stops dirt and twigs getting caught in it when the mother digs. The young wombat will stay in the pouch for between seven and 10 months.

Thank you and you and you. I owe it all to the little people like Angel and Twinkie who made this moment possible. I also want to thank the people back home. From South Dakota.

I'm back from Costco. Piglet too, there was no Louis Rich Turkey Bacon, only Oscar Mayer brand and since I didn't know if you wanted that kind I didn't get you any. Sorry.

Hmmm, that might be it, I think they switched to Oscar Mayer. Oh well, I'll call my Mom and have her go with me tomorrow and pick some up.

Whoo Hooty!

Settle down there Tootsie. I have that effect on lots of women but there's plenty of Gecko to go around.

Have you had any trouble getting through to MS?

Every freakin' day this week and last week. I'm booking for us and a friend for the first week and second week of Dec. Not the whole time but we'll overlap a little. MS has been a joke.

This is prevacation planning. This is so far removed from a vacation it's not funny. I'll need a different vacation after I'm done planning this one. I've got multiple spreadsheets running my possible ADR combinations.
