The easiest decision I ever had to make was picking my wedding party.
My best friend (apart from DF) who is also my cousin but more like my sister is my MOH. She just had to be. We made that decision when I was 8 and she was 7. It's funny because on the way home from the falls we stopped to see her. She was the first person that we told about our engagement and she already knew she was MOH. She's great! She'll be posting on here soon too. She already has a huge organized disney binder started and it's all color coded and organized. It's great! She's really a great MOH and has really helped me with everything from the beginning.

I never really wanted to have bridesmaids. I don't know why but it's just not me. I wanted to incorporate my brother in there since we are very close but I wasn't sure how. I just decided that he will be my co-man-of-honor. He's in denial right now but I'm getting him in pink somehow.

DF picked his dad to be best man. I cried when he told me. I think that is so special. They are really close so I thought that was nice.

I never really wanted to have flower girls or ring bearers either but DF's nieces were flower girls in his sister's wedding a couple of months ago and they were just too precious. That changed my mind but I don't have any little kids in my family and I'm not sure that DF's sister will be able to make it to Florida for the wedding so I didn't want to ask them yet. I have really cute plans for them if they do though. It's exciting!

I did however, find out that I am going to be an aunt in August :cheer2: so I will have a very cute toddler ring bearer or flower girl. How adorable!

I really wanted a big fat pink strawberry shortcake wedding. Surprisingly enough, DF, was totally cool about it. He totally gets my love of the color pink. A couple of months ago I decided that I want to add chocolate brown to my colors. My MOH and I started looking at MOH dresses. She has fire engine red hair and doesn't wear pink because she feels it clashes on her. I don't want to make her feel uncomfortable and my co-man-of-honor isn't really keen on the idea of a pink tie so now I'm thinking maybe champagne. So, that would make champagne, pink and chocolate brown. Is that too much? I originally bought a pink wedding dress. My SIL has since convinced me that I might regret not wearing a white dress. Now I'm scoping out white dresses. I originally wanted a mermaid dress. When I was a debutante I tried on several white mermaid dresses and I love them. I think they are quite flattering on me. Now I'm starting to think that I might regret not having a poufy-white-Cinderellaish-Princessy-wedding dress. Originally I didn't want a veil either since I bought the pink dress and thought a veil would be ugly with it so I just wanted a tiara. Now that I'm looking at white dresses I am really into cathedral veils. Hmm...what's a :bride: to do?

I haven't decided if I want to have a wishes wedding or an escape wedding yet. The thing that scares me about a wishes wedding is meeting the minimum number of night stays. All my guests will be from out of town but I'm not sure how long they plan on staying and I can't force them to stay at a WDW resort. (I can't imagine why anybody wouldn't) I think I"m leaning more towards an escape wedding and having a small ceremony but having more people at the reception and dessert party. I'm really in love with SBP but I'm a little concerned about the heat in August. The last time I was at WDW was in July and the heat was crazy. I really love the WP too. I love that it is in walking distance from GF and near the white sand. I love the pictures there plus WP has A/C.
. The summer is the best time for us but it is really difficult for our families to take vacation in June or July and I think that is a pretty busy time at WDW anyway. Mid Aug. is low season too!

I just realized today that these PJs really help you organize your wedding thoughts in a rational way. I already find it helping me out. I think DF and I are going to have to do a wishes wedding after all. I don't think we are going to invite everybody in our family anyway but out of the people that we do want to invite I believe we are already over the max. for an escape wedding. Our immediate family is going to stay for our disneymoon and make a family vacation celebration out of it so I'm sure we'll have no problem with the min. room requirements. Phew. One less thing to stress about.

I really want to make the 24 hour drive down to disney instead of flying. I'm not doing it to try and save money or anything, I think it may equal out to the same amount but I'm already having panic attacks over my wedding dress on the plane. I also don't want to be limited to the amount of luggage that I can bring with me and how will I transport all of my wedding stuff and gifts and vacation stuff otherwise? Plus I'd have to rent a car at the airport anyway to get my Florida marriage license so this way I'll already have a car and that is another thing I don't have to worry about.

a wonderful start and congrats on becoming an aunt and your upcoming wedding. enjoy your plans . I understand about thinking about the drive and packing, that's crossed my mind too. We did drive for a long time but that was years ago and don't know about now or in the future. Its only about 15 maybe 17 hrs. from here. when we did drive we made it a two day trip, drove part way then stayed half way. Keep planning...:)

Thanks so much! I'm looking forward to it. I'm also looking forward to being able to start posting my ideas. I'm thinking about driving down with my parents because they don't like to fly and that will make more drivers. I have already driven down once and we got to stop in each state that was on the way. We won't have time to do that this time but it was a great way to see the US.

Originally want I wanted to do was to invite everybody in my and DF's family to our wedding. Since it is a destination wedding for us and our family we obviously don't expect everybody to come. My family in particular is very sensitive about invites. If somebody isn't invited to something they freak out. It starts huge drama in our family and it's a lot of stress to deal with. Trust me, I went through this with my engagement party so I figured that way everybody would be invited and nobody would complain. DF's side is more normal than mine. Here's the thing though, Df doesn't want to invite everybody. He thinks inviting everybody will "make people feel obliged to come even though they may not want to". In my mind when you receive an invitation if you do not want to attend or cannot afford to attend you just RSVP that you will not be attending. Df doesn't agree with me. I just think more people would feel left out about not getting an invite in the first place. Am I wrong? Here is how I also see it: Df and I are very interested in V&A. To rent it out for a half night it is $7000 plus $125/pp plus tax etc. Just with immediate family and the wedding party we are at 27 people. It comes out to over $12,000 anyway so we may as well just rent a ballroom, movie ride or Italy Isola at Epcot and have more people? Does that make sense?

I'd definitely invite more people, I'm just not sure if they'd all come. People RSVP to my engagement party last May and then didn't show up. I wouldn't want that to happen at disney because that it would be wasted money that I could use for upgrades or whatever. It would scare me.

We had the same struggle with our guest lists and ended up using this rule- we only invited our closest family (the ones that we spend most holidays with) and our closest friends. This number still ended up being around 75, which after some people decided not to come has made it's way down to 55.

On a side note, we had some people that were upset because we invited them! Some of the people on our invite lists were upset because they said that we knew they couldn't afford to come. Most of these people were added to the list because we didn't want them to feel excluded by not getting an invitation, so it can definitely backfire on you :headache:

We also thought about trying for an Escape, but realized we had too many and needed a Wishes one. Plus, there are so many other options when planning a Wishes wedding. pixiedust:

Weird how people are mad that you invited them. That's exactly what DF thought would happen but I think I'd rather invite people then them being mad at me for not inviting them in the first place. The wishes packing does have a lot more stuff. I still want to go with that.

Alright, after I had a bridezilla moment on DF last night, he agreed to check out ceremony and reception sites. We're both in love with SBP but I'm concerned it's not going to be such a private ceremony because of the busy walkway behind it. Now we're considering either Italy courtyard or Germany at Epcot. I'm not fond of having a 9am ceremony though and I'd really like to have a full day event so how do I accomplish this with my ceremony finishing at like 930am? I'm not keen on a lunch reception even though it is cheaper and I want a DP so what would we do from say noon to 830pm?:confused3

My MOH and I were talking this past tuesday and we are thinking of "faking it up" for my wedding. It's the one time we get to get all dressed up and feel princess-y and we want to go all out. Now, I know most girls want to stay as natural as possible with the make up and do up-dos but my MOH and I, we need to do our own thing. I already have long hair, but my MOH has shorter hair and we want to get extensions. I want some for my vavoom factor. We want to get the fake lashes put in and the fake nails and of course, we cannot forget the fake spray tan. My MOH literally needs spf 50 in order to go outside and we don't want to be all pale showing up in Florida. For some reason I'm really looking forward to this. Is this normal or am I actually losing my mind? We're going to do it in a classy way. I still want to look like me but with more of a "photo shoot" look.

I'm really trying to get DF to come to his senses about the A/C situation and we're having a Cinderella themed wedding. The castle backdrop would be great for this and I love the pics on the GF white sand. I love the courtyard at Epcot but a 9am ceremony. wow. Plus I want to use an outside photographer vendor and I'm not sure you can have one in Epcot.

I was just thinking about something, since I'm having a destination wedding and probably won't be inviting everybody in DFs family or mine, is it ok to have a bridal shower and invite them? Actually is it even ok for me to have a bridal shower in the first place? I'm really apprehensive about this. I've already been living with DF for 1.5 years and w pretty much have everything we need so I don't want people to think we're having a shower as some sort of cash/gift grab.
My MOH wants to make me one and I feel weird about the whole thing. Any thoughts?

P.S. Don't worry Belle091507, you don't need to show up ;)

Hey Sabrina :)

Congrats on everything!!

Just a note about the shower-- Don't worry about already having what you need, at showers people usually bring a little gift for you, like lingerie or beauty stuff. You don't have to register for it if you don't want to.

But if you're not inviting them to the wedding, you can't invite them to the shower. The only time it's ok to have people at your shower who are NOT at your wedding is if you work in an office and your co-workers decide to throw you a shower; co-workers usually assume that they are NOT invited, as it's often a professional relationship rather than a personal one.

I know you're thinking that you want them to feel like they're a part of your celebration in SOME way, but in reality, they'll will be offended that they got invited to the shower and not the wedding, since the shower is essentially a gift-giving party. The guest's mindset in that case is "I'm good enough to get invited to the shower, but not to the wedding." It will even cause a lot of awkwardness because some of them may even come up to you and say, "I haven't gotten the invitation, maybe you got my address wrong?" Which would suck!!!

So don't invite them if they're not on the List.

Can't wait to read future posts!

Thank you!

That is EXACTLY what I thought. I'm going to have to discuss this with my MOH as she is hosting the party. My destination wedding is not out in the open to everybody because I wanted it to be a small intimate affair and I didn't want people getting upset when they aren't invited. My MOH doesn't even know who I'm inviting so I guess I better make a guest list soon.

Of course i would show up!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes I think you should have a shower but keep it small and only invite the people you are inviting to the wedding....if you go with your earlier idea of inviting more people than you think will come then you could still invite those people to the shower even though they will say no to the wedding...this way they might feel like they can participate in part of your special time! That is just my idea but we could go over the pro's and con's to really decide if it is workable. As for having everything you need...why not register for things you don't need ie: fun stuff that is out of your general price range that would be nice to have but not absolutly nescesary? Or you could do a Honeymoon gift registry where people could buy you things for your honeymoon...spa treatments or anything else that you might be interested in! What do you think?

You made it on!!!!!! Exciting!!!!! I was making a joke about you not coming to my shower since I didn't make it to yours. Yeah the Bay keeps calling me to register for more stuff and I'm also going to open a Disneymoon registry so people can buy us stuff that we can use while we are at disney. Kristina is planning the shower so I have no idea what she wants to do. As far as the guest list, still not sure. Have to talk it over with Jim. Yeah i made it!!! it al of a sudden said i could post....don't know what i did but i'm not complaining!!!! :) i know you were kidding!!! :flower3: i think nailing the list down is one of the hardest things but also the most important...once that is done you can move forward in the planning(scary but worth it)! When we planned sonia's shower we asked her for a general outline of what she would want and that was all the input she gave so she was still surprised but we didn't plan anything that was over the top or out of her confort zone...maybe you should do the same? Anyways i gotta go for now i'm off to dinner for my aunts bday! See you on here later!

Hey pinktink! Congrats! We are hopefully getting married in Dec 2009 and I have already bought some stuff (including dress!) so it's never too early to start planning - or buying!!

Your post above made me smile as I am exactly the same. I am going for hair extensions but it is partly to cover my tattoo on my back. I want the big, semi-curled hair and also the tan. I have the typical English rose skin and complexion and need a bit of a helping hand, especially as I have ordered a brilliant white dress.

I want more of the photo shoot look too with the false lashes. I have been in touch with Ana at Beaute Speciale as she does magazine photo shoots and I think we have the look sorted out between us.

Good luck with your planning, keep posting and keep us up to date with everything!

Thank you so much! It sounds like we are going for the same look! I want the curls too. I'll post a pic of what I'm going for when I can add attachments. I love the English rose skin! It's going to be so beautifully enhanced with the tan. I have an olive complexion, not that I'm complaining it's nice too and will also be enhanced with the "tan". Actually, any body's complexion could benefit from a "tan" ;)

Just got all caught up on reading your PJ. Love all the ideas so far! I do agree on the shower invite issue. Don't invite them unless they're going to the wedding. But there's nothing wrong with having a Disneymoon registry and accidentally telling people about it :rolleyes1 ;)

HAHAHA! that was hilarious :rotfl: I'm not sure about the guest list yet but people not invited to the wedding will definitely not be invited to the shower.

hey pink_tink  :flower3:

I think you could have a decent size shower with the people we want to invite. You already covered the debate about inviting people to be polite or not inviting people as to not make them uncomfortable and feel guilty for not being able to come to our wedding because of distance and cost...but I think people would get that we want a smaller wedding if we're having a destination wedding and wouldn't mind coming to your shower as a way of seeing you before the wedding and celebrating with you a little.

so is the Wedding Pavillion most people's favorite spot for the ceremony? I'm worried about it being somewhat too big for the amount of guests we're having (I'm expecting 10-12 guests). It will look pretty empty. It's also hard to tell how the view is from the pictures. I get the A/C benefit but would rather sacrifice being really hot for a little bit and have nice pictures.

I like Sea Breeze Point for the view with the water behind the gazebo. I don't mind if people are watching the wedding too much...unless they'll interfere with the photographer or get in the way.

Epcot has some nice places but we're limited to an early wedding...I don't midn too much but afternoon would probably be better.

To be a brace-face or not to be, that is the question (and my dilemma). I'm having a smile dilemma. When I do my wedding pics I'm obviously going to be smiling a lot and I want to have a PERFECT smile :teeth: (mine is nice but not perfect) so I'm thinking about getting braces before I get married. DF thinks I'm nuts. Firstly he thought I meant I'm not getting married until after they come off (which he thinks will be 4 years from now :rolleyes2), but I'm totally thinking of having them while I get married. The photog. can just photoshop them out and even if they didn't I don't really care. Is that ugly?

WP seems to be pretty popular but so does SBP. If that many (I mean, few) people show up then no matter where we are it will look empty. I'm not going to use that as something to worry about. I don't mind epcot but I'm just worried about finding things to do to make our wedding a full day event and so far I'm stumped for ideas.

Since I was looking at invitations for inspiration today I was reminded of something. When I made my engagement party invitations I jokingly said that when I made my wedding invitations I was doing to add "Dr." to DF's name. I thought DF's mom would get a kick out of it because she loves to tell people that her son is a doctor but she was kind of appalled. She thought it was very pretentious. DF and I aren't into titles but her response really shocked me. I've never heard of anybody being offended over a title before. Would she of had the same reaction if DF was a reverend, judge or in the military or is it just because it's Dr.? Would she still be insulted if We wrote titles in our parent's names? Don't people do that sometimes? what if we wanted them. Does that make us pretentious? I just thought that was odd.

Hey Sabrina! I subscribed awhile ago but I just caught up :)

We're using titles on our invitations. My DF is a Dr. and his mother wouldn't have it any other way. I'll be a Dr. when we get married, but I'm not using my title. I think it sounds cute and looks nice, plus he busted his butt for the title, so why not use it? My cousins have done it, and I really don't think it's pretentious.

here is our invitation:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/irishpixiestick/getimagephp.jpg

I also love your idea about "faking it" for the wedding. Your best friend sounds like she has the same complexion as me so I will be fake tanning. I also want long extensions with lots of curls! That part I'm really excited about! hah

About the shower.....

We are planning to have one even though we aren't inviting 99% of the people to the wedding itself because when we get back home (about a month later) we are going to have a reception (nothing fancy) with the photo album and dvd playing of the wedding for the guests to feel like they were there. It is going to be explained that we are only having immediate family due to the cost for them and us, and we want it intimate. My family would probably love to go , but also will be glad we didn't expect them to fork over vacation $$ to go.

So my thoughts are it isn't such a bad idea ;)

I've seen the prototypes of your invitations on your pj but it's so nice to see the final product. They are so modern but still classy. They are really nice. I don't think that we will use titles but thank you for not thinking I would be pretentious for doing so. Congratulations to you and your DF for achieving your Dr. titles. It is quite an accomplishment!

oh cool, no I didn't think about checking them out. Same thing happened to me with the wisdom teeth and because I had teeth pulled awhile back for space. I'll talk to an ortho to see if those would be right for me. I checked out ibraces that go on the inside of your teeth but the quote was $12,000!

This first one is my dream dress. It's a Romona Keveza:

http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/data/662/174604c8.jpg

I LOVE this dress but it retails for over $4000! I could only buy it second hand. Somebody was selling it on ebay for the longest time but have never tried to sell it again. If you know anybody selling it please let me know.

I did find similar styles at more reasonable prices that I also love:
http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/data/662/174604knkirks082825m.jpg

This is from the disney wedding dress collection. It's an Ariel dress. LOVE it!

And here is my recent obsession:
http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/data/500/174604134A.jpg

This color is called sterling and I'm actually in love with it. I am a huge fan of mermaid dresses.

Here's a sottero mermaid that I also like:

Yes, it is a really great dress but it's just missing "that feeling" I think I would regret wearing. I really wanted a mermaid but feel in love with this dress because it is pink and it was an impulse buy. Not so good for a wedding dress. Plus I've seen it every day for the past 1.5 years so maybe that has something to do with it?

and

http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/data/500/174604m709pm-med.jpg

All 3 of those flower girl dresses were on ebay for under $30 each. I love the first all pink one and I wanted my MOH to wear a similar dress but she would never speak to me again if I asked her to wear that. I would prefer strapless but she likes halter and I like asymmetrical dresses so something like the first pic is what we envision.
I recently had a thought about flower girl dresses. I think it would be really cute if I took the girls the morning of my wedding to the bibbity bobbity boutique and let them get their hair, make up, nails done and pick out a princess outfit to wear. They could pick the princess that they liked but if they picked Aurora that would be awesome ;) and that would be their flower girl gift incorporated in that.

Did anyone mention to you about the Sea Breeze point location at the Polynesian for a beach ceremony? I know that I have read people with smaller wedding parties have even went to the luau "Spirit of Aloha" show. I'm sure if you have a larger group Disney could do a luau themed reception for you too. :goodvibes

Been away for awhile at WDW but I know at one point you had said something about BBB boutique . MY 2 DDs just did this before the Pirates and Princess party and IT was awesome!!! My oldest has hair 3/4 the way down her back(long and straight) and she did the pop star we were at BBB for about 1 hour total(one appointment was right before other and actually done pretty much together) both DD LOVED IT and we just took hair out wednesday and redid(after several times swimming). I know they plan on doing it again for VR....

I'm so glad they liked it! I'm pretty sure my nieces will just be thrilled about the whole thing. I'm still debating whether to have them pick out a costume or get them flower girl dresses. I know flower girl dresses would cost a lot less though ;) I"m considering just getting their hair, nails and make-up done. How was WDW?

Disney was great. The whole trip went really well. At BBB, the girls just had their hair make up and nails done too.( one already had a dress) We added a tiara to both(neither style they chose came with one, I think they were an additional $10.00 each) it was a really nice experience- not rushed by any means. And they looked so great afterwards for the pirates and princess party. we stayed at allstar music family suite- nice for $ no complaints. But home now, back to the real world.....

thanks so much! That's exactly how I felt about the set up as well. Beach ceremonies can still be nice and dressed up. Can you believe that I never saved the place where I found the envelopes from? I spent all night looking for the place last night :rotfl2:

It sounds like the girls were all princessy for the party. How fun. I hope they had a great time as I'm sure they did because it's disney after all. Nobody really seems to complain too much about the value resorts. That's good. I think I'm going to add a value for a room block.

padisneyfour
02-01-2008, 12:11 PM
I would def use the value resorts as an option for your room block. I really don't hink you could go wrong. We had stayed at all star movies before and liked it as well( I think it even had more of the disney aura to it because of the movie themes). I don't know if I would pay for a family suite again or as the girls get older just get a second room- the cost ends up about the same.

I've really been getting very positive feedback from the value resorts so I really think I'll go with that. Definitely for a room block but maybe even for myself. Still not sure but we're not really going to spend all this time in our room except to change, shower and sleep so I don't want to spend more money than I have to and with the money that we can save we can stay an extra week! :cheer2: I'm thinking of going with pop century though

Ceremony
Epcot Italy or Germany
Beach: WP or summerhouse

Beach vs Epcot = Epcot would cost less but it is earlier in the morning
*worried about the August, Florida heat for both of these locations

Pre Reception
Don't know yet

Reception
Private room at Jiko
The Attic
California Grill: Napa or Sonoma room
Bistro de Paris
St. James Patio

DP
Morocco
UK Pavilion

Post DP
If there is no other event going on then ADH
or pleasure island

UK vs. Morocco = UK already has tables (if I remember correctly)and you have the option of having other things besides desserts but Morocco is cozier for less people.

I'm going to take Lurkyloo's advice and only do 2 room blocks and I'm going to go with a value and a moderate.

Guest list
still debatable with DF but definitely the folloing people:
Df's side: sister1, BIL, mother, father and girlfriend, sister2, sister3 (possibly her boyfriend and his daughter), and sister4, BIL and my 2 nieces = 11 (or 13)
My side: brother, SIL, niece or nephew (they don't want to know the sex of their child until it is born), mom and dad, MOH(cousin) = 6 + DF and myself so we're at 19 unless one year olds don't count towards an escape wedding (although I doubt this) it looks like it is going to be a wishes/custom.

N.B. I'm not even at the 20 person minimum for the DP so if anybody is going to be at WDW when I get married you can come to my DP for free :yay:

I want to use outside vendors for the following: photography and videography
I read from mousesavers.com that you couldn't use outside vendors for any event in a theme park. Is this true?

Flowers, cake and transportation: disney
- I think I'm going to go with the rolls for transportation.

s-t-d, welcome bags, programs, newsletters and probably invitations I'm going to do myself

favors: I'd like to go with Mickey ears!:earsboy:

Glad to know somebody else is going to be dealing with the heat with an outdoor ceremony. I was beginning to think I was a bit mad :) I didn't even think about it but you are right, having a ceremony in the morning would be a good idea for the heat issues.

thanks so much. At this stage it is all pretty preliminary but I think an early morning ceremony is probably a good option since we want to get married outside. I'm glad you like the bags. It took me forever to find them. I think the width is a little small so I'm going to do a different bag but probably copy the rest of the design.

HI!!! Welcome back. I started looking into ways to duplicate the design. Not too bad actually. The place online that I found that sells them I think is not too expensive for the actual invitations if they don't work out. It's the envelopes etc that are expensive from there but I'm sure we could find something at Omer deSerre. Maybe we could even recruit Maya to help us? Oh, I have something new to report. Last night DF and I were looking at Disney hotels. Df didn't want to spend a lot of money on hotels since we are already spending a lot of & for our wedding etc and since we'd only be sleeping there and showering. Anyway, so last night I was showing him the room pics for the value resorts and moderates and he he didn't think they were romantic enough for a honeymoon. YAY! Maybe I'll get to be a true princess: and stay at Contemporary for at least the honeymoon. Df really loves the look of Contemporary and so do I.

See I'm different. I know I'll pack away a topper some where or let is collect dust somewhere, just like my glass slipper is from my engagment, lol! SO I'm going with the edible castle as its one last 'keepsake' that I don't have to have lying around the house. That's just me though I throw alot of stuff out.

I love the first pair of pink shoes!!! Unfortunately, that style just doesn't work for me. :confused3
Actually, considering I am running the half marathon 2 days before my VR, I am thinking my feet will KILL me off if I try to squeeze them into anything too girly or high. :lmao:

Probably not a good idea. How about sporting pink running shoes with jewels that way you can use them again for your VR ;)

I vote for the pink shoes!

Thanks! The shoes will definitely be pink, I just need to choose a style.

I was just wondering if I'm supposed to only invite the parents and people in the wedding party or everybody who is invited? Since we're having a destination wedding am I supposed to include all the invitees because they have traveled far? Is this a nice gesture but not necessary? And if I only invite the wedding party, am I supposed to include the spouses, girlfriends/boyfriends, children etc?
I have a feeling that some people are going to want to come just because they want to feel involved and will offer to pay their own dinner just so they can be there. Is this ok?I personally, would like to keep the group small so it is more intimate and I can thank people properly rather than in a large group. I'd like to keep it to the parents and the wedding party with the spouses and their children. Is this mean?

Oh, that is just such a FUN idea!! I will have to girly-up my running shoes for the half marathon!! My current brand is blue and white but when I shop for my next running shoe, I am going to aim for white, and then I can do something fun with them! Thanks for the idea! :lovestruc

Wow! Those goody bag items are awesome!! Where did you find most of the stuff? I just found the mickey 3 pen gel pen packs at the Target dollar spot but haven't looked around much at the dollar store or anything like that for other bargains. It's all coming together for you so beautifully! :cloud9:

Sabrina -- I am sure there are all sorts of protocols and I think, ultimately, you have to do what works for you. I can tell you I've struggled with this question too. Howard and I have decided our rehearsal dinner will be only us, our kids (our attendants), his mother & sister, my best friend (who is walking me down the aisle), and another couple (the husband is our officiant and his wife and he are very very dear friends). I figure we can use the excuse that others may want to be off in the parks or enjoying their resorts. We are doing a dessert party later that night and everyone else is invited to that.

Thanks :) Actually I've been pretty lucky. My mom picks stuff up for me every time she sees something Cinderella so a lot of that stuff comes from her and my MOH. A lot of the stuff came from the dollar store and Wal-mart. Everybody on the boards always says they find tons of stuff at Target. I'm so jealous because we don't have Target in Canada (or at least where I'm from). I don't have a disney store either! When I can finally get to one I think they are a lot different then the ones in the US. It's more for kids here. People have bought antenna toppers and other cool things...we don't sell stuff like that. I'm so taking advantage when I go to my PS to pick stuff up at stores in Florida :goodvibes ebay has been really good for me too. lots of cool stuff on there

That's what I want to do. Keep it small but I have a feeling that others will want to come and will even offer to pay for themselves. It's not about the money but more about that I want to be with the people that really helped me with the planning and such. How do I say "no" without sounding rude? The dinner is just for the wedding party. Ok, I like that. I think I'll go with that :)

very sweet of your mom & MOH to pick up stuff when they see it. I had been picking up 15 of certain items I saw until I looked at my room list and realized we probably need at least 17 welcome bags, and possibly 19. So, now we are buying 20 of everything and if there are leftovers, I willl use them for kiddie gifts or donations later.

You're so quick to respond :) Yes, my mom and MOH are very cute with stuff like that. I have no idea how many people are coming yet so I don't know how much stuff to get. I'll just keep picking up and if it gets to the point where I have tons of stuff I'm sure it won't be hard to give it away. Who doesn't like free disney stuff?

I would invite whomever you want to be there....it really is up too you. I invited just te parents and the wedding party with their spouses....for me that was over 20 people but i had a larger wedding party....i think small and intimae is perfect! Plus as someone said you could invite other people for dessert later on if it's going to be a huge issue.....

Hiya, we're not having a rehearsal dinner but a welcome dinner the night before. I've done an information leaflet for people and I've put that we would like to meet at the House of Blues which has a menu to suit all tastes and wallets. That way they will know that we are not paying!

People have no idea what to expect from my wedding. It's kind of funny. My other sil was over the other night and was trying to convince Df and I to have at wedding at home so we can have a hall with a dj. As if it's not an even an option at disney  I explain that that would still be possible (if Df and I want that) but she still seemed weirded out by the whole prospect. Love all your stuff so far. I have a questions about your Cinderella glass candle. Where did you get it? We are looking to do a glass cylinder like that for our candle ceremony. I found one where we could put our names and date on it but I would love it if we could also get Mickey and Minnie on it. Could you please let me know where you got it?

Thanks,
Linda

Also love those gift boxes. Did you make them yourself or did you get them someplace?

Linda

Thank you so much. I found them on ebay :lovestruc The glass candles, I believe I remember seeing mickey. But you can always email the person and ask if they can do that for you. same with the favor boxes. I'll try and find the link for you for the candles. I remember the company being hard to find.

Thanks, I'll check out ebay right now, but if you find the link or the name of the company I would really appreciate it.

lpizzuro123, here is the link:

this is for a different type of candle base but like I said, you can email them and tell them that you want the cylinder one and I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem :goodvibes

I heard back from them and they do have a Mickey and Minnie design on another item (the one you sent me). They said if I order the Cinderella one (I guess because of the cost factor) they would swap out the Mickey and Minnie design. I want to show it to my DF this weekend so we can decide.

Thanks so much for your help.

I just needed to vent about a couple of things. The first thing is about my pink wedding. Everybody in my family, actually anybody who knows me, knows that my favorite color is pink. I've been announcing for several years now that I would like to have a pink wedding and for the most part it will be pink. I'd like my guests to participate and have something pink on if entirely possible. My mom has already been dress hunting and knows she will buy a pink dress. She sent me a picture on the weekend to see if I liked the dress she liked. She can wear whatever she wants and doesn't need to check in with me but she wanted to for some reason? Anyway, so my dad asked her what the picture was about and she said, "I want to ask Sabrina if she likes the dress". My dad responded with, "why do you want a pink dress?". (Because for the 900th time I'm having a pink theme or pink colors or whatever you want to call it). Anyway, he sarcastically made a point of asking if he had to wear something pink. I don't know why but this kind of annoyed me. I'm not all bridezilla (sort of a random note but the spell check just asked me if I was trying to spell defibrillator when I put bridezilla :lmao: ) about what people wear and I haven't even requested that he wear a pink tie but what if I wanted him to? What if I would like the men to have pink ties. Is this such a big deal? Is it really that emasculating I mean honestly, it's a color. In medieval times pink was only put on guys. My brother who is my man of honor is against this idea too. Hello! you're in the wedding party, you'll wear what I tell you. I didn't get a say on your wedding colors when I was in your bridal party so shhhhush. and that's my rant. :)

Also, I'm not very traditional and I'm not going to have a hard core traditional wedding either so this really shouldn't be a shock but may cause a stir for some people or family members. I have never envisioned walking down the aisle with my father or my parents or whatever. It was always a journey I planned on taking by myself. Many years ago the thought of it bothered me because of what it meant and represented many years ago (that the bride was an object to be given away by her father). Although the meaning is now gone and it's sort of tradition it just bothers me. I have no idea how my dad would actually feel about this happening or not but I'm the only daughter so it's his only chance. If this means a lot to him should I just suck it up and go along with it or do I do what I want and possibly hurt my dad?

haha this reminds me of an argument with Tim.I love pink,my wedding colors are pink as well.I told him that he is going to wear a pink rose as his bout to match my bouquet,at first he said he wanted a cream rose i said no pink and that was the end of that lol. He doesn't care anymore.

I would make them all wear pink now anyway lol. No JK.Seriously though it will be ok,men just get funny when it comes to pink.

I also walked myself down the aisle, although for a bit different reasons (my father lost his chance after his actions this past October)

I know it hurt him not walking me down the aisle, but I did what I wanted to do as it felt was right.

You could always have your fiance meet you half way down the aisle and walk the rest of the way up to you as it is a journey together and no longer a journey with your parents?

Oh I missed the part about your dad walking you down the aisle. I would talk to him and see how he feels about it.Tell him how you feel about it as well.

my honest opinion is that if it means a lot to your dad, you should suck it up and let him walk you down the aisle.

i know at this point, i would crawl down the aisle on my hands and knees if it made my dad happy. hes done so much for me and this wedding that id do just about anything he requested of me :)

First off, i LOVE the pink theme!! If I wear ALL pink can I come?? LoL :lovestruc j/k

As for the father issue, my father is not walking me down the aisle, he is not even invited to the wedding. Issues there. Its a hard decision, but one I am making and standing by. I haven't yet decided if I would like my mother to walk me down the aisle, but I think I may just walk on my own, then have my mom "give me away" at the end, I don't know. But if you feel strongly against him walking you down the aisle...stick with your beliefs. It is YOUR day.

Hey!
Listen...your dad will wear whatever you tell him too.....he might not like it but he will do it. As for Lee, He clearly understands that he will wear whatever you pick for him because as you've said we've been through it..we know what its like  i don't think it will be hard to get the guests to follow the color theme either.....just make sure it's clear in your invite!

As for the walking down the isle....i thought i knew what i wanted well in advance....and then as time went on i changed my mind.... a few times lol so wait to decide and talk to your dad when you feel comfortable about it is my suggestion :goodvibes but in the end doing whatever makes you comfortable and less stressed with all the other crazy wedding stuff is whats key!

Aw..thanks for the hugs. It's funny because usually people just give you a hard time at the beginning and then just go along with it anyway, so why fuss about it and give me a heart attack? Lee is definitely getting something pink. No ifs, ands or buts there. Just not sure what yet. I'm waiting for Jim to pick if he is going to wear something pink or not because Jim needs to stand out that day. If he doesn't, Lee gets a pink tie AND a pink flower. I know I said a while ago that I would post some pics from my engagement party on here so I finally decided to post some. Sorry it took some time but the pictures are on my laptop and I'm usually using another computer when I'm on the boards. So anyway, without further ado,

mylar balloon "centerpieces" that lined the entire dance floor. Can you believe that the helium in these babies lasted 2 months!

balloon weights and table numbers. Every table had a different cinderella name

the place cards that everybody bumped into when walking in the hall but completely ignored

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii110/pink_tink8i8/engagement%20party/Picture135.jpg
the actual DIY place cards that had coordinating cinderella stickers. Each table had it's own theme

the wine we bottled ourselves with my brother and sil

Weird thing happened this past friday. I went to dinner with my family and before we all met up I got a chance to talk with my dad about his wedding attire. He said it was my dad and he'd wear whatever I asked him too. Which, by all means is great since the whole "evil pink" tie situation but why make a fuss to accept the fate anyway? Was his opinion exaggerated in the first place or maybe he was just stressed about something else when the idea of the pink tie arose. Problem solved. Also, I think I'm going to have both my parents walk me down the aisle. With my mom being there is breaks tradition and that way everybody gets what they want. :)
