So I know some of you are thinking about it [including me]......maybe even some of you have done it. My question is for those of you who have had them done. What was your experience like? Were you comfortable or did it feel too sleezy? Also if you don't mind sharing what was the cost and what did you get for that $$? Did you bring your own props/clothes or were they supplied? I'm considering this as my gift to DF.....but i'm not sure I'll be able to relax enough to have them be really worth it ya know? Any help greatly appreciated!

I'm sorry this may sound stupid but what are they?

LOL nope not stupid at all.......I didn't even know what they were until a few days ago! :thumbsup2 Boudoir photos can be a combination of photos of a woman wearing lingerie, posing nude, suggestive poses/looks etc. Boudoir photos are NOT porn......think more PG13. ;)

OOOOOHHHHH! Ok we'll I've never heard of them until now. But I'm interested in learning more about them. Very unique! But I don't know how comfortable I feel having someone take pics of me I've never met.

Know your photographer very well, or check his creditials and professionalism. My ex had a "friend" that was a professional photographer, but not as professional as most of the community knew. He obviously kept the negatives for professional purposes, but used them for his own enjoyment as well !

I actually used to take boudoir photos in college as a side job to help make ends meet. I got into it because I did wedding photography and a bride made a special request for her bridal portraits. It ended up being a lot of fun. I had some costumes to recreate a 50's pin-up feel and a few other simple things, but a lot of the time the women brought their own ideas and things. (leather jackets, etc.)
My advice is to talk to the photographer before hand and get a sense of where the pictures will be taken and how long it will take. I took mine either in my home or in the bride's home because I didn't have a studio space. However, I think the only reason that they were ok with this is that I was a 20 year old girl. You definitely want to be comfortable wherever you are. If you aren't, it will come across in the pictures.
But IMHO it's a great idea for a gift! They're a lot of fun and I personally think we should all do them before we get old and droopy! They definitely don't have to be sleazy (i think most often they aren't) and they probably won't be as expensive as bridal portraits are. I used to charge 100 an hour and the person got all of the negatives. They then paid me by the print. Hope that helps!

:confused3 I'm having them done and made into a coffee table styled book ( that wont go on the coffee table) and am giving it to my DF on our wedding day. It's all done tastefully, no actual nudity and I am able to keep the negatives as well. I will be bringing various things like his fire fighter gear and different things I know he loves on my like just wearing my bulky black sweater that just covers my bum. Its a fun thing to do and a huge confidence boost. Also great for reminiscing once the kids come and you start to look well not so perfect. Also I'm working damn hard on getting my body into shape for my gown, why not take pictures :confused3 .
I say go for it, he will love it! Trust me!

Oh and one more note, a good photographer will make you feel at ease and even confident during the shoot. if you ever get a bad vibe, just leave, and ask for the negatives.

I am going to give them to my DH at our Private Dining dinner during our planning session in February. I learned of the photographer through my local board on theknot.com (so if you are in the Seattle area and you want to do it - let me know!) My photographer was awesome! I brought four "outfits" and a few props (don't forget the spike heels!) and my photo session was an hour long. I paid her around $250 I think and I got about 30-40 pictures on a CD. I used the pictures to make a photo book on blurb.com - it came out really nice. She had a gal that did hair and makeup that I paid $75.I think a good photographer takes your lead as far as how modest or not you want to be. My pix came out great - it was an awesome experience!

Boudoir Photos: Look for recommendations on The Knot.com board for your area - that's where I first heard about it!
Boudoir Potatoes: Doesn't Victoria's Secret sell those? :rotfl:

Hi, I saw this thread and had to respond with my experience.
We had engagement photos taken at Glamour Shots and decided that I would pose for a photo like being discussed here. Well, the photo came out great! It was me, wrapped in a red velvet blanket (one hand holding blanket closed), laying on my back with my legs up in the air and my face turned towards the camera.
It was so hard to lay there (DH was holding my legs up till the photo was taken) but we took one picture and it was AWESOME! It now hangs over our bed...:rolleyes1 and they even hung it in the store for a couple years.
OK, I know I am rambling, but you can see if you have a Glamour Shots near you...HTH!

I asked DF if he liked this idea as a present and he said he did! I've looked at a couple photographers in our area and they seem to run about $250-$400.....bit steep for only getting 30-45 pics and 1 pose out of it.:confused3 DF and I have both been photographers for years [professionally for me and personally for both of us] so I asked him......what would you think of being my photographer? LOL Good Lord you would have thought I gave him world peace :rotfl2: LOL He REALLY liked that idea! I also like this idea because I KNOW i'd be comfortable with my photographer. :thumbsup2
So I started wondering......I've had photos developed at local developing studios such as Wolf Camera etc...but is is legal to have these types of photos developed? I.E. Lingerie and possibly Nude from behind maybe front [on top only] shots...? I live in CA if that would make any difference? Thanks guys!:goodvibes

I'm pretty sure the only way it would be illegal is if you were under 18.
I'm on a hunt for a photographer now. I would have DF do it, but I want it to be a complete surprise :)

I'm not sure where you would print those at. We did some photos like these for our friend, but we printed them ourselves...wouldn't want them circulating around b/c no matter how professional the place, you just never know...

Print them through an online lab. That way you don't have to do the walk of shame up to the Walgreens man! Google for "online photo lab". I've heard of one called mpictures, or mpics, or something? Good luck!

I gave the pix to my DH on our PS trip! They were a surprise and he was completely blown away! I was nervous when I did it but it turned out to be quite fun - the pix turned out fabulous and it was really worth the cost and courage.

Hi DisneyFairy19,
I see you're in South FL. Did your friend use a photographer down here? If so, can you give me the name? I could at least check out some of his/her work, and pricing. I love the boudoir idea.

I don't know if she'd do it, but I would totally have Jensey Root shoot boudoir photos if I were going to do it! She is great at making you feel comfortable in front of the camera. :thumbsup2

Curious if any "bigger" Girls have done this, I'm no small fry and have put on weight since our wedding but I think that would be a great anni gift!
Not trying to sound pervish,
but would anyone be interested in letting me see their photos. I'm so curious!

I've had plush-sized friends do it. The best thing is, that you are in control the whole time. She didn't like her legs, but loved her top part, so she controlled where the lens pointed!
Also, I've seen these type of photos on desks at various work places. So, they are clean enough for the public (well, the ones on display!)
Get a girl photographer. You'll feel comfortable, and if it is a surprise for your man and he asks, he won't feel all squidgity about it.
