What am I forgetting?? I know there's something! I'm totally excited :cool1: and freaking out :scared1: at the same time, hard to explain.

Our first real vacation as a couple, I want so badly for it to be as perfect as possible! I'm sure I'm totally over reacting but this is a huge investment for us and we really need a good vacation.

Any last minute tips/advice? Thanks so much for letting me vent, I truly mean that. The DIS boards have been great :thumbsup2 in helping plan this trip, in particular this board :grouphug: . Thank you all so much and here goes nothing.....

The weather has been great lately!

Now you're making me feel like I should be doing something ... I leave next Saturday and I haven't even thought about what clothes I'm taking!

As for advice - have fun and try to relax. I think so many people try to rush and get everything in that they miss all the amazing details and get stressed.

Don't forget to relax and have a great time together:thumbsup2 Okay, a couple of actaul possiblities (things I tend to forget): sunscreen and small bills to tip porters, Magical Express driver, etc.
LUCKY YOU going in only 5 days. It is DIsney so it almost certainly will be good;)

BREATHE!!! That is what you've got to remember to do. The hard part you've already taken care of now you just have to relax and enjoy. Let the magic happen :wizard: and it will be a great time.

So where are your dining ressies?

BarleyJack
01-13-2008, 08:55 PM
Thanks so much for kind words all.....much appreciated. <Takes a deep breath>

Mike: we are eating at:

1/19 Boatwrights for breakfast after we check in to POR before the parks (probably Epcot this day)

1/20 Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner

1/21 Hoop Dee Doo Review (so stoked about this one)

1/22 Sci Fi Dine In for dinner (I know it'll probably suck, but it looks so darn cool!)

1/23 Boma for dinner

1/24 Biergarten...Steve's top choice, looking forward to it!

1/25 LeCellier for dinner, my top choice, hoping to catch Illuminations afterwards

That's it for TS ressies. Counter service picks on top of the list: the french pastry place, tangerine cafe, flametree, columbia harbor house and sunshine seasons. and a cream cheese pretzel. and pretzel rods at goofy's. and popcorn. and a dole whip. and toasted nuts. and and and.....where's my xanax LOL

Oooh, I am with you on Le Celliar. We had cheese soup (from the Disney cookbook) and pretzles tonight but it doesn't come close to really being there. You are going to have so much fun; good choices all around on the food.

BarleyJack

And a pirin tablet? Why? Are you afraid of my Guatemalan-ness?

My Guatemalan-ness, my natural heat. You're afraid I'm too primitive to be on the stage with your little estrogen rockettes, right? :rotfl2:

We're going to want to hear all about it when you return.

I ended up not needing half the items I packed! But I remembered to bring all the electronic cords and do-dads (camera charger, Ipod dock station, cell phone charger) and I use those often. I was also glad to have candied ginger and sinus meds on hand.

Breathe

You're going to have a fantastic time, (except for your meal at Sci-Fi, pack those Tums  )

According to the local forecast, your weather should be cool (but not cold)
...in other words, 'just perfect'.

We just got back from the parks last month. Only encountered one rude CM, and the parks are in great shape. (Loved the new and improved HM...)

See ? No need for Xanax ! In fact, you might as well just mail them to me, I'll PM you my addy. :)

Have fun !

Of course we're jealous - but first and foremost - have fun.:dance3:

Things we forget on trips:
Extra batteries for the Camera
Chargers for the phones and other electronics
::see a pattern there:: ? :rolleyes1

On the restaurant topic:
Hadley - your dinner sounds great! I love the soup and pretzles sticks from LeCelier.:lovestruc
Conc - we've never done lunch and I like me some French Dip - I'll have to give it a try next time we're down.
BarleyJack - the Pot Roast at the Liberty Tree is d'lish too. :thumbsup2

I leave in five days too!! I feel the same way I just keep going over my lists again and again...... :rotfl:
Sounds like you got everything to me. We are also going to be at Liberty Tree Tavern on the 20t. Are you all going to the P&PP?
My favorite tip is bring a power strip to plug into the wall, so many things to charge not enough outlets.
Have a great trip!:yay:

OrlandoMike

You guys may want to start popping some vitamins! Between the wacky weather (oh ya, throw in a sweat shirt too!) and the sick tourists, lots of CM's are sick. Mix that in with the tourists who are bringing colds from all over and you may want to beef up your Immune system!

How wacky is the weather? Low 40's at night! :scared1:

Joshua_me
01-15-2008, 05:33 PM
^ perfect for wearing your new matching Mickey sweatshirts ^ :cool1:

BarleyJack
01-15-2008, 08:02 PM
<takes a vitamin> I'll pack them too

Alas we have no Mickey sweatshirts.....would love one with chip and dale tho!

40's at night? That's warm compared to here! We're prepared for it tho, long sleeves and jeans packed along with the shorts!

Wow 3 days....can't wait!! :yay:  :yay:

For you first real vacation as a couple remember to relax and just go with the flow. Vacations can be stressful on a relationship till you fall into the grove. Remember your park tickets and your rubbers (incase is rains *wink*)

Have a great time, and hopely some romantic ones too.

I love Boma. I didn't try Sci Fi for years until my DD and I were looking for a place to eat and they weren't busy. I tried to talk her out of it, but we were hungry. :) Ended up going and loving the place and our food was good. I've been back twice recently and enjoyed it both times.

Have a great trip! It will be a special time because you will be at a wonderful place, sharing it with someone you care about. What more can you ask for. :cool1:

Just got back last night (around 11:30 although I left for the airport at 9am!!!) and nice weather........well I don’t think tornadoes qualify as nice. The weather was tolerable.

what I did learn? going with a 4 and 5 year old is exhausting and you have to eat at kid places.....although the Star wars academy is pretty cool.........

Ok I am rambling from lack of sleep! I hope everyone had a great time and after I get some down time from my vacation I will fill you all in on what it is like to go with my girlfriend, mom, 2 nephews and my brothers wife (who has a boyfriend...long story  ) Oh what a week!

I'm back too! I took my mom this trip so it was a bit slow-paced but she had a good time and that's all that matters. We had breakfast a few mornings at POR and I kept looking for someone with a large flashing neon sign that said BarleyJack but no luck! Well, now it's back to the real world ... and planning for my April trip.:woohoo:

The food was great, the service was good. The beer, atmosphere and entertainment were what makes this place. Remember you will be sitting with peeps ya dont' know (unless you are a party of 6 or more). Our table mates I think were conventioners....very low key and sedate. Not much conversation to be had but no worries, still a good meal and a great environment. I also think Germany is the best pavilion in World Showcase next to Morocco. Just beautiful! I really need to get started on a trip report lol

I am SO wanting to go to the biergarten. My daughter-in-law's Dad was somehow connected to the military and she lived there for several years growing up. She loves German food... and an Oompa band sounds like tons of fun.

You know it is funny -- In my last job, I traveled quite a bit and stayed in some pretty nice places (particularly when meeting with customers) but honestly, it never seemed all that much like a treat to me. I tent-camped for the first time @ WDW a year or so ago and loved it. Waking up to the sounds that the birds and little tree frogs make -- awesome. One night, it rained a little bit and that was really pleasant too -- the air was so fresh and sweet. My attitude might change 100% if I'm caught in a downpour or a big-time windstorm but right now, I think I like camping better.

Rosie - the best advice I can give is to let your mom take the lead. I can walk all day but my mom has had 2 knee replacements so she walks, but the endurance isn't there. She also has issues getting on and off some rides - especially boats like POTC where she needs to step down to get in and then step up to get out. Think about any mobility limitations that your mom might have before you get on each ride. And most of all ... enjoy spending time with her!

Both DS and I are really, really picky and we still find things to eat there. That's part of the beauty of a buffet:lovestruc You'll be fine (and there is always the beer).

Thank you-

Spunky as Mom is, she is getting older. Because we live on opposite coasts I don't get to see what her frailties are. I do know that she is really looking forward to this trip and for the first time in a long while there is excitement in her voice when we talk.

Yeah I have been packed for awhile now. I am currently on the Great Shoe debate. How many to take, what colors and will my favorite pair hold in for one last WDW trip? or should I take a backup pair?

But I leave on Sunday morning. So if I don't talk to y'all at work today, I'll see you on the 18th.

:rotfl2: WEll, even I hafta agree 40 might be pushing the limit. But seriously, if there is one pair that may or may not last the trip then that pair needs a back up. This is comming form a girl who had a sandle strap break on day one of a ten day trip back when WDW did not sell shoes:headache: Back-up shoes are a GOOD thing.
