Hey I am new to the boards but have been reading them for a long time. I have a question hopefully someone can answer. I was planning the Viva Italia trip with my cousin but she has backed out. I was wondering if anyone had done this trip alone. I am a single female so I was a little worried about traveling overseas by myself, especially during the times when your not with the tour group. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi there. I haven't done an overseas trip alone, but I'm betting that the Disney guides could give you good advice on what to do and not to do when the group isn't touring together. It would be a shame to skip the trip. You might also be able to contact Disney (or have your TA do it) and find out if there are other single travelers in your group.

From most of the other posts I have read about the trips, it sounds like people make friends on the trip so I am sure you will be able to join others in their down time plans. I know that I would not mind at all if someone wanted to join our family on some of our down time activities.

That's true in that you do make friends. I am solo traveler and went on the Viva Italia trip last summer. The tour guides made me feel a part of the group the whole time! Even when i went out to dinner on by myself , some of the group caught up with me so i would not be alone!:goodvibes And then they included me in some of their times to.

:lmao: :lmao:

When I read the OP I was going to reference DisneyTraveler. But he beat me!

Ashky71, check out his trip report in this area. He talks a lot about how he spent his time.:)

I'll be going May 29, the same trip as MamaDis. We don't know each other, but we will!:goodvibes

On our Viva Italia tour in May 2007, we had a young (mid 20s) lady traveling alone in our tour group. Everyone soon becomes 1 big happy family and she had a great trip - I know she said she was a little reluctant since her friend backed out, but she had a great time and met lots of friends. I know she hung out with 1 family that had a daughter around her age and they went shopping and out to eat together during our down time. But, don't worry - everyone is friends on the tour - you are experiencing such wonderful things everyday and everyone likes talking about the previous day or the next day at dinner. Go and have a blast - I know you will :goodvibes

Thanks for everyones answers. I am still trying to get past being mad at my cousin. I haven't actually picked any dates, but I am pretty open on those except for August. I don't know if there are any still available. I guess I am just a little reluctant because I have never traveled alone and I wouldn't want to impose on someone elses family trip by tagging along. Thanks again for the support and I guess I have some thinking to do.

I think you'll be able to sense whether people are receptive to linking up with you. Hubby and I have had some great times with single cruisers we've met. We've linked up with people at Palo on Disney Cruise Line (arranged prior to the cruise) and have befriended singles and hung out with them on shore excursions. We love meeting new people, and I think they sense it...we're also the ones out of a crowd that people tend to come up to to ask for directions.
