Thanks a million for all of your replies. Im from Wicklow (garden of Ireland) and Im just so so excited about the wedding. We are travelling from Ireland on the 19th April, so we will be in one week before the wedding to do the last minute bits and some serious tanning by the pool.
I don't know how I've managed to organise 75 people, let me tell you it hasn't been easy and Ive had my ups and downs but its finally coming together.
Meri is a star, she really does take into account all of our needs and NOTHING is a problem, she is a breath of fresh air.
I'll update more and the weekend and include pics!

Well guys Ive spent the last few days emailing Meri and Alix getting info on my room block. Im contracted for 50 nights and only have 21 booked so far...its sooo stressful Im just hoping its the irish being so laid back and that my guests will start booking their rooms soon! My problem is as they are travelling from Ireland they have all booked rooms on I-Drive and their very reluctant to book into Disney for the wedding as they've already paid for accomodation on I-Drive. So, if any of you would like to help me out and get a discount for rooms in Disney my room block runs from 25-27 April and includes The All Star Music, The Carribbean Beach and The Grand Floridian.
I just read back over my posts and realised I never filled you in on my fiance , how we met & the engagement proposal.....
So where to start, I suppose how we met is a good place. Well we met when I was 14 and Rob was 16, just as kids hanging out. Initially Rob dated my best friend (very innocent kids stuff) and I dated Robs best friend and as it turns out Im with Rob now and my so called best friend (more on that later) had a baby for Robs best friend...freaky stuff!!!
So there we were with different people but seriously wanted each other rather than the person we were with. Don't know know how it happened but one night he told me he wanted me and not Michelle and it went from there....
We were on and off for so long , suppose we were so young. This continued over the years then when we were around 17 we parted ways, he did his thing I did mine but I NEVER for one minute forgot about him. One night we met in a nightclub and it just felt like we'd never parted. But things don't go that smoothly for me, it was too good to be true, Rob was leaving to go and work in Amsterdam one week later, so we only had a week together. I was working all week so I think we managed to meet up twice in between and planned to meet up the night before he left. So the night before I spent ages getting ready and waited patiently outside McDonalds in torrential rain and he didnt show, I rang his house no answer. I waited an hour and no sign so I rang my friends and drunk myself in an awful state, I seriously thought that was it he was gone forever.....
I woke the next morning and was so upset, couldnt eat couldnt sleep and still no call. Then two days later his friend phoned, said Rob was so drunk he forget to call and when he sobered up he had to go to the aiport. I decided there and then he wasnt worth the tears so I got on with my life ..it was hard but I knew he was away working and still it cost very little to make a call or send a postcard and neither happened from him.
Rob was gone for 4 months when one day in work a friend of mine said she saw him out the night before. My stomach sank.....what should I do? Wait though there is more he was out with my so called best friend!!!! I HAD to have a plan. So I called Michelle asked if she fancied going out but Id drive and NOT drink. I bought the tightest white trousers I could find and the lowest cut top, got my hair done and walked into the club feeling so good....but then I saw him....he saw me too and then he saw Michelle standing beside me, I could read his lips.... oh f**k......
So there I stood with my 7up and I could see him approaching, Michelle said to me may the best woman win and just as he arrived I said "you can have him im not interested" and I walked away. Got in my car and drove home feeling satisifed and worried I'd made a mistake, felt like I was giving him to her.
I heard the next day he snubbed her said its not you I want its Lisa. I was thrilled so thrilled I made the big step of telling my parents and my sister that he was home from Amstedam (they knew he'd stood me up and they had to pick up the pieces so they were very angry with him). My parents were like "be careful" but my sister was to drop a bombshell..... Rob had been phoning from Amsterdam and she'd been telling him I wasnt in - even if I was and she hadn't passed on any messages...AND he'd written a postcard which my sister intercepted and hid on me!!!!!! She thought she was doing the right thing...its funny now but at the time I was fuming.
It was a week later in the same club before I saw him again..... more on this in my next post!

Oooohh! Bad Rob! Worse sister! I would have killed her right then and there. I can't wait to hear the rest though!
I've never been to Wicklow. I think the B&B we stayed at last time was in Co. Kildare. I read a novel called "The Princes of Ireland" that made me really want to visit Co. Wicklow though. I will one day visit all of Ireland. DBF is concerned about his own safety if he were to visit. He is Vietnamese. He like to pull up articles about how Asians are victims of racially motivated crime. Once he starts reading me the articles, I need to point out to him that all of them have happened in Northern Ireland. He has yet to show me anything about things happening in the rest of Ireland.

So one week later Im back in the same club with a group of friends and I spot him on the other side of the dance floor. I couldn't keep my eyes off his every move and every time I looked in his direction he was looking in mine too! Towards the end of the night (and very early hours of the morning) I was walking to the cloak room and there he was in front of me, innoncently I pinched his bum (although I'll never admit to him I was the one to do it) he immediatley took me into his arms and kissed me!!! If Im honest that was what I wanted but I just couldn't appear too interested so for the next month or so I played it cool even going to my ex-boyfriends debs (known as prom in the US). And I also invited my ex to my debs....My ex was a complete clown at his debs and really he wasn't the person I wanted to share that evening with so with one days notice I asked Rob to come with me to my debs....with one days notice and Rob only 1 week in a new job and considering the debs took place on a Wednesday night I knew I was pushing my luck but I had my mind made up - if he didnt make a serious attempt to attend I was walking away once and for all from our 'on / off' relationship. Rob phoned me the morning of my debs and to my complete suprise he had arranged the time off, organised a tux and bought me flowers!!! When we arrived at the ball all my friends were so shocked to see us together. That night was the first night Rob ever told me he loved me - 26th August 1999 and we've been together ever since!
So fast forward 7 years to September 2007. Rob and I had planned to visit New York and Las Vegas but Id been so ill from the February the holiday was looking more and more unlikely. I have a back condtion called sacriloitis which is seriously debilitating. I can't sit for long periods, walk any distance or stand without being in severe pain. For the most part of 2007 I was bed bound, in and out of hospital and very depressed but Rob cared for me, he never moaned, he cried when I cried and he was my support. I was at home feeling sorry for myself when Rob was planning to propose with the aid of my mum in secret. I had NO idea and even now I can't believe he asked me to marry him after what must have been months of hell watching me cry all the time and wince in pain if I had to so anything for myself. In the August before we were scheduled to travel my consultant took me into hospital and operated to remove a lump which was growing on a nerve, so the trip to the US was in serious jeporady. I had no idea Rob was planning to propose in NYC and I was too sick to worry about missing the trip. I made a good recovery albeit it was a slow recovery and got the all clear to travel ONE day before we were to fly out of Dublin.....
Next up, the proposal...

So onto the engagement. Rob and I arrived in NYC, showered and Rob had reservations at Tavern on The Green. Rob planned for us to go in the horse and carriage around Central Park but the weather was awful - raining and really windy so we got a taxi straight to the restaurant. I didnt know what to expect but the restaurant far exceeded any thoughts I imagined. We have cocktails and were shown to our table. I really had NO idea of what was about to happen, I was busy studying the wine menu when next thing I knew Rob was down on one knee...being as blonde as I am I thought he wanted to look at the wine menu too so I said - theres no need to kneel I'll pass the menu to you and with that he answered : "Im trying to ask you something" and then came my tears I was shocked, excited and totally overwhelmed and happy. The whole restaurant were watching and the restaurant photographer caught it all on camera. I was thrilled. Later that night Rob told me how his plans were ruined by the weather as he had planned on proposing in the horse and carriage but I wouldnt change a thing.....
Next up....deciding on Disney and breaking the wedding venue news to the family....
Guys, can someone please tell me how to post photos!???

So, I'll try and pick up where I left off previously. So Rob proposed in NYC and of course I sad yes....Id been waiting on that day every day since the first day I met him when I was 14!!! He'd asked my dads permission well beforehand and he'd brought my mum to pick up the ring so they were all i on the action and I was too drugged up on painkillers to notice this going on right beneath my eyes!
So after NYC we flew to Las Vegas where my parents flew in and met us from Ireland!!! to celebrate. My parents are THE BEST.....what better way to celebrate eh?
We had a great time, we drank, we gambled and we saw some amazing shows and at that stage I suppose I was still taking it all in. I couldnt wait to get home and show my ring to all my friends and family and it was only then that I started to think more about organising a wedding and setting a date....
So, shortly after we arrived home from Vegas I was in my mums house with Rob, Rachel, my mum and dad looking up weddings in Italy. I knew from the start I didnt want to get married at home but Italy just wasn't for me, there was no emotion in me when I was looking at the websites and then I looked at the Disneyland Paris website - thinking more of the guests and the distance - Paris is only a short hop away....but they don't do weddings, then I considered Paris - My favourite city ever....but theres a 90 residency rule and then I said to the shock of my parents "lets check the Disneyword Florida website" and as soon as I logged in, heard the music, saw the demo and the pics it brought me right back to that day on the monorail as a child which I described in an earlier post and I got goosebumps on my arm and started crying and my mum said...if thats how it effects you thats where you should marry! I knew she was right. I looked at Rob and he said Lisa I want you to be happy and whatever makes you happy makes me happy and so the Disney plans began!
If Im honest, I found the inital stages quite stressful trying to get through secure a date etc and then theres the whole catholic scenario (more on this later!)
For now,I'll leave you with a pic of me and Rob (Im getting the hang of tis pic thing and lovin it!)....he has his moments but he makes me so happy!

Robert and I decided to visit Florida in April this year to check out the weather and meet with our initial contact in Disney. We were thrilled to find the weather was beautifully warm, just what we'd hoped for.
So we arrived on a Saturday and our session in Francks was set for the Monday. Before we left Dublin I emailed our wedding consultant (is that what their called?) and explained I wasn't contactable by email as I was on route. Id had a brief convesation with her by phone before I left and told her for the million time we wanted the 26th April 2008 as our wedding day...we were only 2 days away from officially securing this date when we were leaving. We'd put our request in for this in January and it had been noted however Disney rules don't permit the booking of a date until 1 year out however I was assured no one else had asked for this date. So we were full of the joys on our journey to the States and were bursting all weekend for Monday to arrive for us to finally meet our consultant, see Francks and visit all the possible reception venues.
Monday finally came, I was so excited I coulnd't sleep Sunday night. I think I changed my outfit 3 times and off we set. Our appointment was at 9am in Francks. On arrival we met our Consultant and after a very brief conversation she brought us to the wedding pavilion....on route she dropped a bombshelll..... heres how the conversation went "So, Lisa did you get my email" ???Eh no - she knew we'd left Ireland very early the Saturday morning. And next up.... another couple wants the same date and time in the WP you'll need to enter a raffle. Tears came to my eyes...I couldnt believe my ears...Rob squeezd my hand he could see the tears. I'd picked the 26th as it was my dads birthday, it suited all our our guests and family and Id managed to find a catholic priest willing to perform a full catholic ceremony in Disney including the sacraments....not an easy task Im sure alot of you know. Heres the catch the Priest could only do the 26th at 2.30pm he had other commitments that weekend I'd booked him a Id been assured no one else had asked for that date or time. And if Im honest I thought it a little unfair that Id been calling since January and then somene just came out of the blue , had expressed no interest before and now suddenly my wedding was in jeporady:confused3
So if Im honest it was a very bad start to the whole session which Id looked forward to and although we visited The Boardwalk, The Yacht Club and The GF I really can't remember much other than the colours of the rooms as I was too upset to take any of it in. :headache:
In the end we chose the GF and Im very happy with our decision but really I don't think things should have happened that way. We chose the GF as my colours are pink and gold....perfect with the main ballroom - salons 7-9. Its just breathtaking, the ceiling lights are just amazing!:lovestruc
After this we had a appointment booked with Shelley from Impressions however it was for after lunch so Rob and I headed off for a drive to clear our heads. We ended uo in the Hard Rock Universal still unsure of whether we'd get the date and time we hoped for. I kinda moved the food around my plate I was so upset. I totally understand the raffle process if to keep things fair and Im all in favour of that but it was the way things were handled.:scared:
On our way back to the car my mobile phone rang and it was our consultant....We'd got out date! All I could do was cry and thank my granny and grandad up there who I'd been praying to.:worship:
So by the time we got back to Francks I was on top of the world and I settled in to picking our invitations....speaking of which I'll take a pic and post later.
I cant sit for long periods I have terrible back pain, Ive been receiving treatment for 2 years. My last operation was 6 weeks ago and my next one for pain relief is next Thursday so please excuse me if I cut a story short. I will pick it up and finish it just sometimes I have to drop everything and lie down....Im praying Ill be ok for our big day.

You are doing a great job on your PJ! I love that Rob asked your father's permission to marry you and went ring shopping with your mother! That is wonderful that your parents were able to join you in Las Vegas to celebrate.
I found the initial planning stages stressful as well. I thankfully didn't have to have a raffle but waiting to see if you have your date, and then being "tentatively booked".......AHHH!
Looking forward to hearing more plans and seeing more pictures!

Well I am so relieved, I seriously I was overloading my posts with way too much useless information! I find it hard to control myself, I start typing and then all of a sudden I forget where I am and Ive nearly a page of stuff done..LOL:rotfl:
So as I said, we met Shelley from Impressions during our session in April. Shes a lovely person and have some very inventive ideas. I was overwhelmed with all of the options available and was totally caught up in the moment and ended up purchasing my invitations, two sets of envelopes (one plain white and one white envelope with a pink inside), reply cards, reply card pre-printed envelopes, thank you cards, thank you card envelopes and Mickey & Minnie stickers, saying "Lisa & Rob"...she really did see me coming LOL....
They were all printed before we left Florida for home so we brought them in our hand luggage and as soon as I got home, even though I was totally jet lagged I started writing them. We felt we needed to give our guests a years notice given that we were asking them to fly to Florida for our wedding.
I'm gonna sign off for now, Im just back from Sligo (a 6 hour round trip), Robs granny isn't well, she wasn't a pretty sight today, shes physically well but she was mentally unstable today and we had to give permission to put her in a physcathric hospital (hope thats spelt correctly) so I'm so tired. I wil post some pics of the invitations etc later!:thumbsup2

26th at 2:30... got it... I'll see if I can drag DF to sneak a peek from the walkway. Don't worry... no crashin...:rotfl:
Will you be using a coach? Limo?

Add me to the list of brides that week - ours is the 29th. I'm not freaking out yet, which is sort of freaking me out! :rotfl:
We're doing the WP at 2:30 - anyone near by, feel free to peek! We're arriving on the 26th later in the day, so I won't get a chance to be an onlooker - if we were there I definitely would!!

Hey guys, this is just a quick post to say I haven't disappeared or forgotten to post. I've been in hospital. You'll probably remember one of my previous posts talking about my back pain. Well, to cut a very long story short over the last two years Ive had 6 nerve blocks and an operation to remove a growth from a nerve. None of which have been successful in relieving my pain.
I have a new Surgeon and he took me into hospital last Thursday and under an anesethic he injected my spine 4 times and my sacraloic joint once. Im so sore and really stiff not to mention the pain....so Ive been sleeping alot and resting as much as possible as with the wedding 4 weeks or so away I dont want to do anything to slow down my recovery or aggreviate the problem.
Ive lots of pics to post of the bridesmaid shoes, bags etc and I have to fill you all in...the day before I went into hospital I went to my dress fitting....and theres just one more alteration but more on that when I can sit for a little longer. Im signed off work for the next two weeks and so I promis to fill you all in on every little detail....this board will keep me sane and keep me positive over the next couple of weeks so please keep the replies coming I need a distraction from the pain!
I'll try and sign on later today but if not you'll hear from me tomorrow!
Im off now to sleep more of my life away LOL......
