View Full Version : Everything You Need To Know About Discount Codes

Every January it begins -- the CODE frenzy for discounts for the upcoming year. There's a few things to know about how Disney parcels out discount and codes and I've tried to gather it all up in one place.

Code Terms 101

PIN - a numerical sequence that gives you access to a discount offer "code"

CODE - a three letter combination that the agent uses to book a discount offer

PIN-CODE - a three letter combination that requires the agent to enter a PIN to complete the booking process

The terminology sucks. I'd like to create new terms that make sense to everyone here and force everyone to use them. But that ain't going to happen.

If you're still confused think of it like this.

The PIN number you receive in the mail or email -- is like a password for the agent to 'unlock' your special offer code.

If you receive a PIN-offer by email or postal mail. You will have a series of numbers. That is what you give to the agent on the phone. THEY will take care of finding the right 3 letter code that goes with that PIN-offer. You needn't worry about that. These PIN codes are non-transferable.

How do these codes work and where do I find them? Are the Disney issued or from outside sources??

Disney has 'discount codes' for different reasons.. to induce guests to visit their resort properties at various times for various reasons throughout the year. Generally speaking -- they are issued for lower-traffic times of year to fill up rooms in the resort. Disney sometimes issues special codes for AAA packages. But it is still Disney that controls the codes.

There are two types of codes. General public. And codes associated with your name only, which are sometimes referred to as 'PIN-CODES' or PINS.

General public codes can be used by anyone and are listed on this site at DISCOUNTS (http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-current.htm#hm-currdiscounts-right).

For absolute clarity. A PIN-CODE is still three lettters and it is most easily defined as a code that requires a PIN. Asking someone to send you their PIN code will do you no good. They are not transferable from person to person. So please don't ask.

General public codes are also usually noted on the Disney site itself but can be harder to find if you don't know where to look there. General public codes do not require a PIN.

PIN-Codes can be used by the recipient family and nobody else. They are not transferable. Some folks have reported success in using cards that arrived at their address in other peoples names. The rule seems to be if you live at the address on the offer.. you're good. Sharing a pin code is a big no-no and generally will result in the second person being told they are not eligible for the discount.

Do they work for packages or single/seperate things/costs?

So far we've seen codes that include free dining, for 20, 30 or 40% off selected hotel rooms.. and one code that included a free parkhopping & waterparks fun n more upgrade to your base tickets.

A 15, 20, 25 ,30 or 40% off room-only code .. sometimes can be used with a package.. But when you do so, you are still only getting (x)% off the room portion of your package costs. The Tickets, dining plan and any other optional add-ons are at the normal rate unless your offer explicitly says otherwise.

At any given point in time there may be several codes that may apply to your vacation. Pick one. You can only use one discount code per reservation. Choose wisely. :)

How Do I Get "On The List" To Get A Pin Offer?

How people get selected for to receive email/postcard offers is a source of never-ending debate on these boards.

Signing up at the WDW website and giving them your email address at least gets you in the running. Ordering the vacation planning DVD does the same. Guests who have stayed at Disney resorts in the past are also key targets for future discount offers.

The theories as to how people are selected to receive an email or postcard are like belly-buttons, we all have one.

If you get lucky, you may get an email or a postcard from Disney. That email or postcard may contain a PIN (a series of numbers).. or a general public code (usually 3 letters).

At the end of the day - none of us know for sure how the selection process is done. My best guess after watching this for a couple of years now, is that it is purely random.

There is no guarantee if you do any of those things you'll get one. You could go to Disney once or once every month.. and you may or may not get a code.

How Do I Know If I Got A Code

Generally speaking an email or postcard to one of the addresses Disney has on file for you is your notification. If you've moved or you're just wondering if perhaps you have received a code but didn't know about it - you USED TO BE ABLE TO CALL the Disney Reservation Center 1-407-W-DISNEY and ask for them to see if you have a code associated with your name/address in the reservations system. They do not permit this any longer. Sorry, too many people were taking up agent's time with the "Do I have a code question" -- so they discontinued this.

[ EDIT : 2011 : It seems if they aren't too busy on the phones they will do this again. ]

... and If I do get a code, to whom do I give it to

If you're booking with a PIN from your email / postcard or with a general public code.. you tell the reservation agent at Disney reservations center. "I have a code .." and then identify if you have a PIN associated-code.. or a three letter offer code.

The postcard or email will tell you when it's good for .. and what benefits it may convey.

All general public codes will be posted on this site @ DISCOUNTS (http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-current.htm#hm-currdiscounts-right). .. along with the info about what benefits it may convey.

When you are giving them the code on the phone, if it is a three letter code offer.. say an example word for each letter. So many of the letters in the alphabet sound the same.. C,D,E,G,P,S,T,Z.. and of course Disney uses LOTS of those letters in their codes. Grrr...

Don't Post Any Codes to the Board without Moderator Approval

Before you post any three letter code to the boards, please be sure to check with one of the Resorts Board Moderators : CanadianGuy or Lynn M

Posting a non-public code is against the DIS Board Posting Guidelines (http://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm)

9. DISCOUNT CODES: As mentioned above, the DIS is all about planning a Disney vacation. On occasion, Disney does release discounts which usually can be obtained via a code. This information will be available in our Discounts section. However, Disney also sends mailings to specific individuals/target groups which contain a discount that can only be obtained with a PIN (personal identification number.) If you receive one of these offers, please do not share your PIN/Code on the DIS for others to use. We respect the fact that these offers are not for the general public and will remove any posts that include this information. Understand that this action is for your protection. For example, say you use Mrs. Smith's code. When you check in and are asked to produce proof that you are Mrs. Smith and cannot do so, you will be charged the full rate.

Hope this helps. Any questions - feel free to post 'em here.

One unanswered question: I've heard of people calling in to ask CMs if there was a code 'associated' with their name. Is there sometimes a code you didn't receive in the mail (or they have your wrong e-mail-which is my situation) that you can ask about?

does anybody know the dates for the 3 letter 40% off code (this isn't the 15 digit one)

When I called I had both pins/codes attached to my name and the 15 digit code the CM told me ran from Dec 7-17 and the 3 letter digit code ends on Dec 13th (not sure what date it starts)

Anyway was just curious what the other specific dates the 3 letter code is good for.

my mom called today to pay her deposit on a trip i had planned. She wasn't happy that I booked ASMu and asked about AKL pricing (We had met someone on train this past Sat who stayed there over Christmas and raved) so she had it in her head.

CM told her to hold and came back on phone and told her it was her lucky day she had 40 % off. My mom called my DH on her cell while CM held (so nice). My DH told her to go for it (I'm not sure why she called him LOL).

So we got 2 A and 2 children in our room for $2897 (7 nights standard view with 7 day base and DDP). That was only $307 more than my bouncback offer for ASMu that I booked during our Sept trip. Should be fun staying there with the kids.:thumbsup2

My mom is from CT and hasn't been since 06' not sure if that matters?

Not sure, but I don't think you can in a standard room, unless you carry a single airbed, or put a young child in one of the beds!
AKL and WL are known as being the smallest deluxe rooms, unless you book a larger (deluxe) room.

Boy I am not nearly as confident about putting that information together because, you'd be relying on getting it third hand.. week to week.

I actually am no clear what the current bounceback offer is .. but I believe it IS a tiered percentage off.

This post from a bounceback thread seems to hit most of the points, but I'm not sure how accurate it is.

I booked a bounce back trip when we were there in December. The dates were on the computer (CR has in room computers) under my messages. If you don't have a computer just ask at the front desk or use the phone in your room to call reservations (I don't recall the onsite phone number). As posted in December, the 2008 bounceback dates were:

1/6 to 2/2/08
2/24 to 3/1/08
3/30 to 4/12/08
8/10 to 9/27/08

These dates apply to deluxe reservations. (Villa dates are roughly the same but the offer for them is 40% off.) The Moderates may also be included (but they were not listed on the computer.)

The instructions say you must book before you checkout (I'd be interested to know if there is some flexibility in this requirement).

I originally booked an April bounce back but when I returned home, I changed the dates (to January) and still received the 30% discount. I've heard there are other bounceback discounts such as the dining plan but I didn't see those listed at the time.

Also, it took about 20 minutes to get through to the reservations personnel from the hotel room phone when I called so be prepared to leave plenty of time when you call.

grannyminnie
01-21-2008, 08:09 AM
A comment on one of those dates...the one ending in April was given to me as April 21.
Also, as far as I understand, and see reported here, there is NO flexibility on booking. It MUST be done while you are there at the resort.

Thanks guys...I'll be there mid-February so I'll report back any information available involving a current bounce-back special. Of course, it won't really matter to me now as I got so tired of calling and checking to see if there was a code attached to our household that I just gave up and booked a package to Disneyland instead!

I was a lucky receipient of a 40% coupon this year, and I can tell you one thing that was curious:

The name on it was Shanekel Baker, which is a combination of my first name and my wifes. This name appears quite often on junk mail addressed to my house, usually associated with magazine or CD music club offers. Not too long ago, I subscribed to a magazine and it was sent to me with this name, and I think this is the mailing list that Disney Vacations used for this.

Regardless of how they got my address, we're ecstatic! We're going on March 2nd, and now we're staying at POR for 40% less than we would have otherwise!

I do not know if this will work but it is definitely worth a try...

this is what I posted on another thread, you never know if this is what triggered my code but I can tell you in 7 years I never even gotten so much as any kind of contact from Disney, now I went & did this trick & I have gotten 2 emails & a postcard in a matter of 3 weeks of trying this method...

GOT IT!!!!!

I never get anything but I got THIS!!! I ordered the DVD at the very beginning of January, still haven't gotten the DVD but i just got the mailer with the 20% off PIN!!!!!

I do not know if this has anything to do with it but....

I registered like I was a new guest with a new email & passcode, same name & same address, just a new email & password. I said I haven't been to Disney since 2000 (big lie) & I was thinking about going in November (true). I ordered the DVD then I priced out packages at different resorts & saved the offers.

I priced Deluxes & the Swan/Dolphin.

I did get an email from Disney Destinations thanking me for ordering the DVD then I got one yesturday about my free letterhead!!!!!

Hope this was the secret trick!!! Let me know if it works for anybody else, it can't hurt to try my method.

I have NEVER received a PIN from Disney, I have gone 7 times in the last 5 years so I figured it was time to start fresh & re-register all over again with a different email.

Good Luck!!!

Questions about using the code:

I got a 40% off PIN code and booked a room for us. Then I realized that I could book up to 3 rooms.

So..........
a) Do they have to be the same resort? Or can my best friend book at a mod while I book at a luxury?

b) Do they have to be at the same time? Or can my sister go down the week after we do?

c) The CM on the phone last night said I could just give my PIN to my sister and my friend, as long as they had my phone number and other ID info. (Since we're close, they know the ID info.) Was this correct?

I have a quick question. I received a 15 digit code by email. I am already booked in WL 12/7/08-12/12/08 which are the 30% off room dates. If I use this discount code can I then use a general public code that may come out in the future? I have seen in the past it showed for trips in December there were discounts for packages if you booked during September - October. Or if these codes come out would I just have to cancel my reservation and rebook to get the better discounts?

Thanks for all your help.

CanadianGuy

You can change codes while keeping the same reservation provided that whatever code you apply later on has availability for the dates/resort of your existing reservation. Only one code at a time can be applied to any one reservation.

30% is pretty good.. hard pressed to do much better than that!

I am going to call on this also. I booked for POP during the August-Sept 2008 dates. We have always stayed at POP except the one time we got the free upgrade to OKW, and we would like to try a moderate during the October dates, since the fold-out card w/code I got states "save 40% at select value resorts, and there are other resort room types available, including deluxe villa resorts, at varying rates. Ask about them when you call to book!". So here's our plan:

We are going 8/10 - 8/16 and have 4-day play passes w/water park & more option. On 8/15 we are going to upgrade those to Florida season resident passes, since those are only $100 more than the passes we will have, and the black out dates for season passes is thru 8/14. Then we have 1 year to use the seasonal passes, so when we go back in October we can afford a moderate since we won't have to buy tickets. The 40% off during regular season at a moderate will be barely more than full price on a value during regular season.

Can I ask about the AP, room only, discount codes here?? :confused3
In Oct 07 I was lucky to get 40% discounts @ the CR & Poly for my stays. :woohoo:

I'm specifically looking for May 08 and what the past trend has been?
When traditionally does the May " AP codes" come out??:confused3

See...I will be out of the country the month of Feb and don't want to miss the discount, if any. Any help will be appreciated!! :goodvibes

Annual Passholder discounts

I'm pleased to report - got the 40% off card in the mail - I called and gave the CM my pin - he advised me I was getting 50% off the rack room rates...so I booked two for the price of one at GF, stretching past the end date in Dec by one day. Great deal! I liked it so much, I bought the company (or a small piece of it...)!

CanadianGuy (or anybody else who knows), if you get an email with that 20% off a value room offer, have you read of anyone being able to apply it to the other resort catagories? (we are "deluxe" people :lmao: )

CanadianGuy

GrannyMinnie:

Yes. Just call and ask about availability under that code at the deluxe resorts.

Remember.. there are a LOT of variables..

For example the 20% off code I received, didn't have availability at ANY mods for my dates.. but did have Values & Deluxes.. For different dates, it DID have mod availability but no values...

I have a question about a CODE (3-letter) that I used back in November, which was good for my upcoming trip in late March. I was given the code by another person, and was given the discount. The discount code correlates with the new 40% PIN that's out there now. Later I read that others that had used the code had been told to pay rack rate upon check in or some such thing. Has there been any issues since then? Can they revoke my code upon check-in?

I have been paid in full since November and have a copy of my invoice from Disney showing a zero balance.

Thanks (worried)

The past two years... the only week with a code was May 25 to June 3rd or so.. That time period had codes last year and the year before.. But nothing else in June.. (maybe an AP code.. but no general public or PIN codes)

she just called me back. she said that as long as your check-in is during the dates listed that you qualify. she's making the changes and sending me the new info. hopefully it works out. we decided we really should have the park hoppers so we were going to add them on when we got there anyway, so any little savings helps.

Does anyone know if the 15 digit 40% postcard code can be applied toward the room portion of a package? Also, do they still allow you 2 weeks to send your deposit? I finally got a postcard :cool1:

I think it was because I ordered a DVD and park maps for our August trip. It listed a personalized URL that gave me a pin code with the same offer as listed above (82 per night value or 20% off for dates from August clear thru November). It referenced one of my "junk" e-mail addresses instead of the ones I use regularly. Don't know if this helps anyone else. This is my first postcard in over 24 years of visiting WDW.:yay:

pwdebbie
03-21-2008, 10:36 PM
I also received a postcard today with a specific web page to visit to get my personalized offer. The offer -- $99.00 at a Value Resort now through mid-May, Sunday through Thursday. This does NOT sound like a special rate to me. Does it to you?

Also included was a 30% off code "if [my] dates are flexible." That looked a little better. But they'll have to do better than that to get us to return this year, much as I'd love to go. We drive and gas prices are a definite factor.

I have entered some contests for Disney trips and priced out some trips online. I am thinking that is where they pulled my info from.

The 'highighted' rate of $99 per night is for the time you listed somewhere at Disney.com as the time you'd like to next visit Disney. That doesn't sound like a discounted rate to me.. or at least not very much of one.

The 30% off rates are for different dates than you originally selected and those dates should be listed on the offer.

Hope this helps!

Is there an official word from WDW on whether you can use a code after the end date if you check in during the proper time frame? I know you could last year but it seems there is conflicting info on 2008.:confused3 Also, if you can't extend beyond that date does the code end on THAT date, or is it good for that night's stay as well. For example, IF free dining is offered and ends on Sept. 27th, would the night of Sept. 27th count as well giving you credits to use on Sept. 28th? Thanks!

You really have to love them. First the codes are send out randomly, or so they say. Actually the Mystery lies in the marketing department, who selects quests based of last time here, time of year here, and then it is a mystery to all. If you book your reservation NOW with the pin codes it will NO longer work outide the assigned dates. This is due to the date pricing Disney has instituted. IN other words if you come in within the time period specified, you may have to book a seperate res for the dates outside the dates for the code. This is now what would be neccessary to complete your trip. All CM at the reservation center are suppose to check that code against your name. They actually need your last name and the code number and it will tell them if the code is legal and who it is assigned to. So if you coming and have 4 rooms booked and the code allows 3 rooms on the discount. You can have the discount applied to 3 rooms. They will not bend on that 4th room. Also it would take the person on the pin code to do the booking and not another family member not at the address of the person the discount was sent to. So be thankful when you get one and hope you get another. :surfweb:

msehsejim1
03-30-2008, 03:42 PM
OKay answers to some of your questions.

First....If you use a pin code not assigned to YOU, when you arrive they can and most likely will charge you rack rate for that room. The CM that booked that trip may find his/her way out the back door and not pleasantly.

Next....when booking with more than one room IE: up to 3 on some codes, and here come the sticky part. They all must be booked at the same times or over lapping dates within the booking period to be applied. The person that has the codes assigned to them MUST be present for the bookings at the discount to apply. If not then it could go back to rack rate. The data base of Disney is incredably deep and very accesable to CM's at the resorts as well. They do verify all information, and the DRC also makes sure they are booked correctly.

Last and the fun one......I have seen people book three vacations using the same pin codes....Hint " the 3 rooms for one pin code" on three seperate trips,
So they got the "3 rooms" but on 3 seperate dates. This is pretty ingenious of Disney. Seeing they got you coming back 2 more time on the same discount.

Have fun they get more and more confusing and not easy to follow.

I used my sisters 40% pin code to book my trip, our dates do over lap, but she leaves 2 days before I do. The CM said this wouldn't be an issue and I had to provide my sisters email address, telephone # used on the reservation, her reservation # and day of arrival and departure. My sister will be staying at POFQ and I will be at POP due to their not being anymore rooms at POFQ... will this be a problem? My budget is very tight I have already paid for my trip.. finding that I owe another $300-500 dollars upon check in might prove to be impossible.:scared1:

I'm a total newbie here, so please forgive my ignorance. I received a 40% off postcard in the mail about 2 months ago. I didn't think much of it at the time (weren't planning a trip anytime soon) and it got tossed in the recycle bin.

Last month my husband suggests we visit for our spring break. So I have booked our room already, and paid one night's deposit.

Question is can I call up and ask if there are any codes associated with my name and address. The CM I spoke with to make the reservations never offered this info, but is it something I would have to ask about?

TIA for any advice you pros have for me.

I got one too and mine said it expired March 31, 2008. I still have it; just found it (after the expiration) actually. I tossed mine aside thinking I wouldn't be planning a trip this soon. If it said expired 3/31, will they still allow you to use the discount?

We just called yesterday and the CM we spoke to said that we could not use the 40% discount. We actually booked the BCV a few months ago - before starting to read these boards (you guys are awesome!) and just found out that we could ask if thre are any codes/pins associated with our household. If I call back occasionally, is there a chance there will be a code added to my account? Has anyone heard of this ever happening? having a code added to their account after they've booked? or is my chance at a code now gone since I have a trip already planned? (not by mail, but by calling)

Hmmm....earlier in this thread someone else posted the same thing. Did you attempt to price it out anyway and see if they offer an additional discount? Try to price it out the regular way, nd then try it by typing in the URL (that's the link they sent you) and see if they offer a discount. If not, then it's probably bogus. I believe that the other person who posted about this said that they weren't able to get the discount and the link was bogus. Good luck!

Still wondering how this happened????????? We have a vacation planned in Sept./Free Dining, but..... We just got a mailer and for my niece (10 yrs. old) with a discount pin code for rooms at Value Resorts for $59 (8-4-08 t0 9-27-08) It came to MY house!

Things I DO KNOW

1) I had set-up a vacation with Disney for a Christmas 2007 trip with this niece going with us.
2) I did have to change her ticket/DDP to ADULT pricing AFTER the first booking because when I was booking she was 9 then I called back when I realized her B-Day would come just before the trip. So she was changed to Adult pricing on DDP.

3) These are the only things that I could have done to get something with her name mailed to me.
4) We did have to cancel that trip due to job issues on my husband's part.

5) Maybe the trip booking got her name into the system.

I am excited about FINALLY getting a pin code, however, I will not get to use it, her parents are considering going now, as it seems like a "sign" that they are supposed to go!:goodvibes

Call and ask. A Disney Reservations Center agent can answer that more authoritatively than anybody here.

In the past the answer was "Are the current resident at the address on the item mailed..?" if the answer was yes, you were allowed to use it.

But how do you get these codes? I have been to WDW twice and have a Disney Visa and have never received anything.

Is there something I can do to get these deals?

I have recieved them by registering on the Disney site and updating when I am interested in visiting. some times up to 5 times a year. Hope this helps.:cutie:

Hi- I ave never been to Disney, but have a planned trip to the World dec 13-21 through a TA since last January. I got a random free dining pin code in October (I feel) because I signed up on the website saying when I wanted to visit (mid-late december) and they seem to want people around my time period. I now have free dining during my visit. I think they where trying to "sweeten" the deal after I showed intertest, but had no "seeming" ressie. Does that make sense? I think more deals will be offered in this ecomony. Sign up on the D website, but work through a TA or other service.
Happy travels=R/

I just returned from a stay at Disney (CR) earlier this month. We are now looking at another trip in April/May.

I see the suggestions about calling a CM and asking if a code is associated with my name. Can I ask that before I have a reservation, or do I need to make a reservation for my next trip first, then ask about a code? Which gets to my other question, say I book now and then get a discount offer. Can I call and have the discount applied to my already booked vacation?

I've tried searching and I'm just not finding an answer...

I am ready to book for early Dec 09 (thinking 12/5 - 12/12) at the Grand Floridian and was going to pay in full but then I found this board....and I have some questions :).

1. Can codes be used at a place like the Grand Floridian?
2. If I pay in full, can I still use a code when/if I get one and be refunded the difference? If not - do the rest of you just put down the deposit and pay as time goes by and apply discounts as you can?
3. I see current codes for this December are more towards the middle of the month - does that seem to be a trend that others have noticed or is it truly hit-or-miss on when they decide to offer codes?
4. I did apply for the Disney rewards card and am hoping to get some shortly (crossing my fingers...) - do they offer better discounts than Disney or does it all just depend on what's being offered at the time?

TIA and I'll keep searching for my answers! I'm sure they're out there somewhere!!!!!

Check your dates to make sure you are not hitting Pop Warner(crowds), if you can be flexible that would be great to go earlier or later.
I planned out trip 1 year in advance, when the codes came out I was able to "tweak" my trip. We leave Dec. 13 (this year).
Hope that helps...but re-check dates to see what is going on.

Thanks for that! We were there for POP Warner in '01 and it wasn't that bad but your post (and pm - thank you!) made me do some research and it seems to have gotten rowdier over the years! I do think we're going to go a week later...again - thank you!

What is POP Warner?

Hi Vicki-
Did that help? Some other thread :confused3 has info on most of the fall visits. This year, in December, is Mousefest, popwarner and a few others. Not supposed to be a huge addition to the crowds and I think the pop warner issue is about hotels at night . There are many threads on this under resorts;)
I chose dec 13 due to many of these issues.
PM me if you would like to chat. I am going down with my three kids, and they don't know yet:goodvibes
I do believe I got lucky in choosing my dates for many reasons. Then they started throwing :cool1: discounts at me. Free dining private PIN, low crowds, reduced rates....
Have you checked Touring plans? They give you crowd levels (expected) at the parks and are very well regarded. Like everything else, you can search them in this forum.
good luck
Rebecca

So I booked the resort last Nov for an upcoming early Feb wdw trip (first time). Now I see there was a room only code offered that had to be booked before Jan 4. Is there any chance I can apply to that a trip booked pre-Jan 4? Or would it have to be a new booking?

I'm feeling a little stupid. We're paying for four nights and we cannot extend our stay -- so we miss out on the pay for 4 and get 7 deal. Even though I've had a Disney Visa for years, I never get a code offer (and I called to check), no offer of free dining that I can find, so we'll be paying full price for everything in this crazy economy while all these other deals are offered....

Combine this with the fact that Fantasmic (which I have always wanted to see) will not be offered any one of the three nights were are there and I'm really not feelin' the magic....

does anybody know the dates for the 3 letter 40% off code (this isn't the 15 digit one)

When I called I had both pins/codes attached to my name and the 15 digit code the CM told me ran from Dec 7-17 and the 3 letter digit code ends on Dec 13th (not sure what date it starts)

Anyway was just curious what the other specific dates the 3 letter code is good for.

Wow, your Disney Garden is fabulous!

I apologize if this question has been answered before -
I plan on booking a mod resort with the 40% off rate for 4 nights but this stay will be during the end of August when free dining is likely to be offered. If I want to make use of the free dining offer, will I need to call and modify the reservation, give up the 40% discount and pay the regular rate ($149)? Also, has anyone had any luck using a PIN code for concierge level (we're staying at WL during separate visit). TIA:)

I read this whole thread and didn't see a clear answer. I just got my first email pin code. It is for 40% off a value during value season. We are a family of 5 ugh. It states "standard room only"

Has anyone had any luck booking the ASMU Suite with a code like this? We are possibly going to do a 4 day weekend trip during Sept for dd's birthday and this would help with the hotel.

I know the other way around it is to book 2 standard rooms, it comes out to be about the same cost. But with no gurantee of the rooms next to each other I really don't want to do that.

Also does anyone know what this means "Minimum length-of-stay requirements may apply for Friday and Saturday arrivals. " How many nights is a minimum length of stay? Thanks.

Just for clarification...
If I were to book a package, and a general public package discount came out, I would of course apply it. In the meantime, if I received a pin code, would I then have to choose between the two offers, or could both be applied to one vacation?

Also, is there any info that suggests whether room only or package bookings tend to result in the best deals? We are looking to travel next May, so free dining and things like that are unlikely. Has anyone made an educated guess as to whether something like the 4/3 deal might be offered for 2010?

TIA to anyone who can help.

I don't have any responses to anyone, but I'm hoping to get an answer myself:

I booked a room only with a code for 40% off for a trip in Dec. 2009, but if I want to add dining, do I have to cancel the room and book a new package? And, if I do that, will I still get the 40% off?

Thanks, anyone.

I've reading some of the above posts, I'm new to the DIS and still don't understand all the abbreviations, where is everyone going, what website to look at codes?? I'm trying to figure out where to stay with my family in jan 2010 would like to do a few nights at a disney resort the lady on the reservation phone told me the only places that can accomodate a family of 5 is Port orleans or else the deluxe hotels is this true? I'd love to stay at a deluxe resort but they are out of our price range unless we found a good deal, we are considering staying at one for 2-3 days just for the experience and then staying elsewhere. going for 14 days althogh 4 of those days are a convention at a different hotel. What does everyone think is it worth the price??
thanks for any advice I'm feeling overwhelmed with the planning

The pin codes would be attached to your name or address and you more than likely would have to have booked thru them for you to have one attahced. I called to book on the reservation line a few times and just asked do I have any codes attached to my name or address? And the CM checked
and said "yes you do, and using that code saves you $900 " I had no idea there could be a code attached to my name until I read it on here and gave it a try! See, Disney wants to keep people coming back, so they do this... thing is she did not give me the discount until I asked. So apparently they can not see it unless they "check" I don't know if they are actually pushing a "repeat customer" button or what :rolleyes1 but it worked for me, more than once!:thumbsup2 And I had $900 more dollars to spend on souvies!:rotfl:

You would have to choose between the 2 discounts. If you are staying at a Value resort the free dining is usually better. At a Moderate the two are pretty close and at a Deluxe the 40% is better.

Stickies are the posts that stay at the top of the page with info everyone should read. There is no "way" to get a pin code sent to you. You increase your odds of getting one if you register your email with disneyworld.com or order the vacation planning DVD or possibly "saving" vacation packages on the website

Ok, so I'm answering this way too late to help BsBrady.. but hopefully someone else can benefit.

Generally speaking, you have to call or use a travel agent to use a Discount Code -- sometimes the offer is visibly linked on the Walt Disney World website.. but not always.

Do they ever offer discount or pin codes for Fort Wilderness? We have gone every year for the last 20 years and have never received a code. When I asked about it they said they are given out at random. They use to offer snowbird rates for 30 days several years ago, but when they did away with that they never offered anything else. Does anyone know of any?

Yes, you can apply free dining to your package when it becomes available. The only issue is that there has to be availability at your resort for the dates you want (although you are free to change the resort and dates), because there are a limited number of packages available at each resort. You would just need to call and ask if the free dining promo can be added to your package.

You can apply any discount to your existing package, if there are rooms available at your current resort. If not, then you may have to switch resorts to apply it. You have to decide what works for you.

Discounts, like free dining, are done to fill rooms. If the resort you are currently booked at is filled for that time period, then they won't offer it to you.

Last year, by a fluke, 4/3 deal was extended to my week; the week after Thanksgiving. POR is a very popular resort, so it was already full and they could offer me the discount there. I had a couple of choices, and ended up upgrading to a deluxe.

Call again - ask for a supervisor. Something is wonky here.

Seriously .. ask for a supervisor.

I have a similar question. I have a 20/30/40 year long discount. I wanted to vacation from Oct. 9-16. Well, the 9th and 10th are blacked out.

At first the CM said, "well, that will be like $500 more dollars(i was booked CR mk view, hence the high extra price). Then she said, "well, actually, you cannot even do that". Hmm, guess she was confused.

Anyway, I just went ahead and said "fine, book me starting on the 11th then". Is this the only choice I have? Considering my kids would miss a day of school/soccer, I am willing to pay extra for those first two nights, but obviously I don't want to make two different ressies and pay the extra costs incurred by that(assuming it would be like a split stay as far as having to pay more for tickets).

This is undoubtedly a strange question particularly because I don't have a pin code (yet, I keep hoping :worship:), but I'm currently volunteering outside the US and will be until our Disney trip. I don't have an address and there is no mail in Ganta, Liberia. I have, however, kept my old New Orleans address on my Disney account. If I were to get a pin, would I have a problem using it because I don't technically live at that address right now? I don't suppose my mom could even use it because it would be a lot easier for her to call? I'm just trying to figure out what the rules are

We booked our vacation over the phone. We initially wanted the FW Cabins only because there are 6 of us traveling and food costs add up, so we really liked the idea of having a kitchen.
At some point, my husband tells me "ask if there are any codes associated with our names" and I find out... yes, yes there is. The pin code was sent to our old address and, well we haven't lived there for a year. So, a quick change of address in their database and voila!
We have free dinning and changed our minds and got 2 rooms at POP instead.
I think that the pin is assigned to you, not your address, considering only you can use it.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. Now I have a pin and another question :cool1: Hopefully I can use the pin and hopefully my mom can call so I don't have to call Disney from Africa.

What about a split stay? Even with the pin, we probably don't want to pay to stay ten nights in the Contemporary but we've never done deluxe. Can we make two reservations, as it were, and apply the 40% to the first room at the Contemporary and then apply the 30% at the POFQ where we had intended to stay? It's like booking two rooms, right? And I can book up to three on the pin?? Thanks again (I'm still so excited about the pin :yay:).

Awww thanks so much, that's so sweet of you :flower3:. Yeah, no one ever answered, but then suddenly my mom changed her mind about the GF and totally forgot the Contemporary. And then she HAD to have the GF since this may be our only opportunity for a discount like this and who knows when we'll go back to Disney and yada yada, so she booked the whole trip at the GF. It's still a good question for others if anyone does eventually post the answer.

And I'm super excited because I wanted the GF :woohoo: but I'm not paying the bill since I currently make no money

Oh and when my mom called Disney they already had my pin attached to the reservation she had already made for POFQ, so it was no problem for her to use the pin to book the GF. I don't think they even asked her to verify anything or asked anything about me!

This Board is the greatest...I read about the Pin code, did exactly as told (different e-mail, did two bookings without Disney hotels) and got the code today. Called and applied the PIN code to all three of our reservations (we are a party of 9-three rooms). Needless to say we are thrilled and so thankful for the wonderful help from this board! Thank you all so much!!

Forgive me if that has been stated elsewhere. I couldn't find and have to rush off to work. I booked Free Dining last week but now see that hotel discounts have been released. 40% off of a Deluxe stay for 7 days would be worth more off to me than free dining. But my stay is Oct 2-9. Free dining extended the whole stay. I'm not sure if discounts (which end Oct 2) work the same way.

Not sure if i should call and redo my reservation or if it's even worth the hassle.

Yes it probably would work out cheaper.

Yes you can easily switch discounts without rebooking the whole trip provided there is discounted room inventory at the resort you've chosen.

Call to confirm.

I know this sounds stupid, but I think Disney sent me a PIN a month or so ago and I didn't pay much attention to it because we hadn't planned on going to WDW this year. I deleted the email. Would Disney keep any kind of record? I didn't know if I could call and check. I registered last night with my husband's email address, so now I'm just waiting. Hoping for another PIN!
I promise I won't delete the next one!!!!!!

Wow thanks so much. I am new to all of this and this really helps me out. We're hoping to get some sort of pin for our visit in October for my daughters birthday. It's her first visit and as a disney veteran I want it to be as special as possible. :D

Hi everyone. I've been sent over to you by the 2010 YC/BC thread. We will be staying at the BC (2nd year in a row.....woo hoo!) 8/3 - 8/12. Have DDP. Park Hoppers plus water park. We are getting VERY excited!

What is the deal with these pin codes? I've been told that the information about how to obtain them changes so I figured reading through all the discount threads might be futile? Or I'm just lazy :scratchin

Any current information would be greatly appreciated!

TIA

Hi !
Sorry , but I'm new at all the PIN things , too. Can someone answer this ?
I got a code a few weeks ago 20% off Deluxe. We're booked for BC in Nov.
Does this mean I won't recieve the 40% off PIN ? My PIN came from Disney Destinations , not sure why I got one. Do all PINS come from that site ?

Any inside info about a possible FD plan ?

Thanks so much !

The problem is that no one knows the exact formula to receive a pin code. Many different things have worked for many different people. The only things that everyone has in common is that on a Disney account, they created at least one itinerary (not price out vacation but create itinerary under My Vacation tab). After that, everything's speculation, but something worked for me so it might be worth it to read th beginning pages of the "Support group for us no pin people" to see what has worked for others. GOOD LUCK

All pins come from Disney Destinations, yes. No one knows if getting one makes you less likely to get a second one, BUT others have received more than one pin code so it doesn't automatically disqualify you or anything.

Others have gotten pins that didn't match up with their name, address, email address, whatever. Some have been allowed to use them anyway, some have not been. I would suggest calling back to speak with a different CM to try again, because a different CM MIGHT let you use it. Can't hurt, right?

You don't need a pin code. I believe there is a general public discount for those dates. Maybe 30 or 40% off rooms---I can't remember. Did you book through Disney or a TA? Either way I would call to check. :goodvibes

Hi All you helpful Disney Addicts!
I am new to the boards, and returning to Disney after 7 years away, spent having and raising my kiddo. We are finally ready to hit the parks! I am planning a trip after Thanksgiving 11/29-12/4 and have received one of the coveted 40% codes. I was hoping to see free dining for the same time period, but as we all know, that's not nearly a given. So, my question is should I book the hotel discount at the value resort and assume if a DDP free dining offer comes out I can cancel and rebook? I have now got a Disney Visa, so maybe they will have an offer for the end of the year. Is there a time that these offers are usually released? I see the summer-early fall deals are off and running, but haven't seen anything regarding late fall. Hoping to benefit from the vast brain trust that is this board.
Thanks!

We got the monster code and tried to apply it to our CL GF reservation. We were told NO! There were no rooms available at GF for our dates so we ended up changing resorts. We are now staying 1 bedroom villa kidani village, savanna view for $1600.00 less. Couldnt pass that up. Plus we will be coming home with clean laundry as it has its own washer and dryer

Gosh, I feel really stupid now. I just booked 8 nights at BC in July thinking I had a coveted PIN email. Now (thanks to this thread), I see it was just a general public 30% off email. Since our trip is in 25 days, it's already paid in full. Would it still be worth it for me to call and see if I have a PIN code associated with my account, or has the damage already been done? (And to think I was so excited! Well, I am still excited we are booked, but not as excited as if I was saving, say, 40%!!)

Does anybody from the UK ever get email codes as I am sitting patently waiting for one for my upcoming trip in December but I feel that I may have to wait forever as I've never heard of anybody from the UK receiving codes. I am currently booked at the Wilderness Lodge but feel that I may have to move to a moderate resort. Got a great mail from Universal so am staying there for 2 nights, but nothing from Disney for my other 8 nights.

This is kind of a random PIN question.....

My mom just got a PIN for dining this fall, and the general public dining plan does not cover when I'd be traveling (October 13-21) but this PIN DOES. I know that sharing PIN numbers with random people is not acceptable, but has anyone had a problem using parents'/or family members' PINs? I suppose I could always have her book the trip for me on our Disney Card (which we share.) Any thoughts?
