Could someone please clarify if this is the permanent home of UK DIS or work is underway to bring back our own board.
I read that it will be a while before we have our own board back and then on other posts this is now the permanent home of UK DIS.I might be missing info maybe, as I'm not clear which it is?

A quote from Penny in an earlier thread:-

I think it's safe to say that this is our permanent new home now.

Hi Karen

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the old UK Dis as we knew it is gone for good.
There was a severe technical problem and it suffered a complete database failure.

We are here for the forseeable future which is why we now have our own Community, Trip Planning, Trip Reports and DVC boards here within the US Dis to try and make everyone feel as much *at home* as we possibly can.

We are all very sad that all the valuable information, posts, trip reports etc has been lost and are doing all we can to try and get some new threads going so that we can build it up again.

Hope this clarifies it for you :)

Feel free to email me if I can help any more.

Thanks Janice.

Could you answer the second part of the question though?

Is work being done to create a new UK Dis board. I think we have all come to terms that all our original posts are lost, but can we start again?

Due to technical limitations on server assets etc, this is going to be your home for a while. We are working on plans to ease that situation and once that is accomplished I think we can give you back your "home". What I don't have is any kind of a time frame. There are a lot of variables right now and we need to see how things shake out.

Thanks Alex.

We do appreciate all the hard work that must be going on at present, especially the hour upon hour of your unpaid time which is going into this.

When everything settles down a bit, could you give us a ball park time scale as to when we can "go home". Not that you haven't made us feel really welcome, but if I had a pair of ruby slippers, I'd be banging them together by now.

Thanks again
