I went to Universal last labor day weekend and on that Monday I noticed people getting in a 8am. I decided to check and see if I could as well. Backround info I did stay at th RPR that weekend. Anyway The gentleman at the gate siad I could go in early. So as I ramble on here is my questions.

Because I was staying on site do I always get in before the general public?
Are there certain days that are essentially extra mummy dust hours or was that a fluke?

On busy days, the gates usually open early.

Usually the gates open at 8:30 (when they were supposed to open at 9). That was in June last year when we went. You were actually able to get in at 8am with an AP. We didn't get in till just before 8:30, but rode front seat on Hulk about 4 times in a row with NO wait :banana: !!

I think being onsite has the advantage that you can walk to the parks and not be waiting on the parking garage to open and let you 'filter' in....which, can take some time (get in, find a spot, walk over from the garage....)

I thought it was only a 'summer' thing....don't know if it's always or it was just a "trial" thing last summer.....be nice if it was offered this summer too :teeth:

I didn't know this was an AP thing, we arrived early a few days in June and were just let through. I do have an AP, but nobody was checking.

But didn't you have to use the AP to get in? They didn't just open the gates and let people in without any ticket.

:rotfl: What I mean was they were letting everyone through, I was with 3 others who did not have APs, just regular tickets and they were not stopped from entering early, in fact I did not see anyone stopped.

OK got ya....

They do often start letting people in around 30 min before posted opening time.

Not that we'll utilize it anyway....but what are the odds of letting AP peeps in an hour before official opening time???? :confused3

It was a perk offered to AP holders and was listed in the AP newsletter when it was offered. Sometimes the hotels have an early entry and also certain ticket venues offer it from time to time.

How do would I find out when the RPR would have early entry? Should I call a week before I head down? Or just ask the front desk when I arrive? TIA

The true early entry is usually just for 2 rides in each park. At IoA, it is Spiderman and Hulk and, at Universal, it is Shrek and Mummy. It is a planned and an announced early entry for certain venues such as hotel packages, ticket venues, or annual pass holders.

Many times though the park just opens a little early and many rides are open. This is an unannounced opening and helps to alleviate the crowds at the turnstiles. Many of the rides will be open at that time but not everything in the park.

We've hit IOA on days like that. From my experience, they usually open the rides in Mavel but nothing else. However we've not made it back to DD before posted opening. the couple of times we've done it, they did not open Seusslanding, and didn't even let people walk through it.
