View Full Version : 40% Code at all resorts? What price did you get?

I have not received a discount code email yet, but I am hoping for one!
Are the discounts available at all resorts? What price have you been quoted?
Just want to get all the 'prices' and then as soon as my code arrives, I'll know what resort to ask for (I am thinking very optimistically, I know I may not get the code - but just in case!!!)

We got $49 for All Star Sports in 2 weeks. It took a lot of finagling to get it as the resorts are filling up fast with this code! We could have had a preferred room at Caribbean Beach for $99, but that's twice the price of the Value we reserved so.....:goodvibes

I collected several while booking our PIN stay; here they are. All were quoted on 1/11/08 for PIN dates that fall in value season, and are pretax rates for the cheapest available rooms, unless noted:
Pop Century 49.20
Wilderness Lodge 150.00
Beach Club 195.00
Polynesian 204.00
Contemporary (garden room) 192.00
Contemporary (tower room with non-Magic Kingdom view) 228.00
I was told I could book packages if I wanted, with the same room discount but regularly priced dining plan and tickets. We just booked the room.
Also, the first time we called to find out the rates, we were told Friday and Saturday nights would be more expensive. I don't know how much, I just told him to quote 5 nights Sunday through Thursday. But we ended up booking seven nights on our second call, which were all the same, cheaper price.

As far as I can tell by pricing things out on the website, in value season, particularly Sept. and early Dec. there isn't a higher charge for weekend stays. If it's in "regular" season then there's the higher weekend charge so perhaps it's a seasonal issue.---Kathy

I tried to get the beginning of August (around 10-17th) with no luck. They pretty much had every date after the 20th. I booked Labor Day weekend. I was nervous about the crowds but I just read that it is not a peak period. I figure it cannot be worse than Christmas or Easter and we have managed both.

Even after calling yesterday to see if I had code attached to my name and was told "no" - So there is still hope for everyone who has called.
CBR - Sept. 18 - 24th $89.40 a night
My postcard said 40% off deluxe resorts, so I worried I couldn't use it for a mod, but was able to.
CM did offer a package with code also, but after giving me the total cost, it didn't sound like there was a discount on passes and dining, so when I asked, she said discount is only on the room, rest of package is at reg. price.

AKL dec 7-13, standard view, but I'm gonna call in a day or two to see if I can get pool view for a little more, 6 day single park no waterpark passes, basic dining plan----$2,085 I didn't have any codes on my name and was on the don't mail/email list, but a wonderful cm found the code because I told her I knew some people were getting it on a discussion board, such a great cm. I was wondering what you meant by this. Sometimes I wonder if I'm on some kind of negative list of theirs. You know, maybe some bad comment sits by my name.
I had some mighty snotty ressie supervisors last year talk extremely ugly to me and all I was doing was asking questions...long ugly story. At the time, I thought I would never want to go to WDW again.....but my son loves it and who can stay away from the magical place even if the ressie supervisors are no where close to magical?

The postcards/emails are still being sent out, at least according to the CM I spoke with last night. She checked to see if there was a code attached to my name and when she didn't find one she advised me to book anyway since the codes were still being sent out and I could apply it later if I got one.

Oh my gosh - I just got wind of this. What is going on? 40% off codes via email and postcard? Okay...I hate to ask because it's probably already been asked but for what time period? We're going in June and I got so frustrated with the cost for our choice resort, the Polynesian. So, I booked the Dolphin with an AP discount and saved $1,232.00 over the Poly (I'm doing room only).
If I could snag a 40% code, I would switch it back. I don't have such a code yet, but God willing I'll get one. Can someone give me the skinny on these codes?
Thanks

I just called and am even more bummed now. There wasn't a code for my hubby and I, but the CM asked who Kevin was on our street with our last name. I said, that's my father-in-law. He said, oh...well, he has 30% off. I said, really nice. We had to pull teeth to get them to go to Disney with us 3 years ago and that was their first trip to Disney ever. I'm sure that was their first and last trip and THEY get the PIN Offer. My hubby tried to tell me that's why because they don't go every year like us, but I'm still bummed.:sad2:

We have been going every year since 2004. In 2004 I took my father in-law, my sister in law and my neice. We paid for everything and had everything going to my address. Well last year we got 40% off to our address in my father in laws name and this year we got 40% in my sister-inlaws name. Never have we recieved a discount in our names. Luckly since the postcards came to our address we have been allowed to use them. Maybe next year a card will come in the neices name? Oh well keep them coming no matter who's name is on them. BTW we got 8 night in December at AKL standard room, room only for $1215 total. That is $135 per night. I was told by the CM that we couldn't book club or sevanna view with the discount. I think he may have been mistaken as I see many people on this thread booking just that. I might call back and switch a couple nights to club level because we want to do the sunrise safari and you can only do that if you are on club level. Good luck to all those waiting for codes. Remember if it comes in someone elses name but all the other information goes to your address you can book it.

Yep, I'm usually on the Disneyland Boards because that's where we usually go. We LOVE Disneyland, but we've been sooooo many times that we're looking for a new Disney experience. I have two kids they will be in Dec DD6 and DS8. It is nice to meet someone in the same area who loves Disney as much as my family does. I don't even tell my friends and family anymore because they don't get why we go back year after year. We are also go to DL in March on the kids fly free discount.

Cheryl, check the aaa.com . Even if you don't book through AAA, you'll get a good idea about the rates you'll be quoted by CRO when using the AAA rate. The easiest way to check the rates for different rooms and resorts I've found so far when using the AAA discount.
Ipberg, who knows if an AAA rate hurts your changes?? All I can tell you is that I had a reservation for 13 nights at a mod with a AAA rate. I didn't have the code, but still got 40% off for a ressie for the last 3 nights at a deluxe. (so now it's 10 nights at a mod and 3 at a deluxe, still hoping for an even better discount coming out later on for those 10 first days)

Thank you - I got a card yesterday - HOWEVER, I called and my discount was 20%, not 40%. For the same dates you've listed below. The CM explained to me that the discount pin codes are assigned randomly and until they check, they have no idea what it is for. Some are 20%, some 40%, some are prices off tickets instead of rooms, some are free upgrades. He told me it was part of the Year of a Million Dream Celebration (blah blah blah).
Seems like nobody is getting anything for June...at least from what I can tell. I think AAA will be as good as 20%.

Couldn't believe when I got this postcard in the mail last week! Just booked at the Polynesian garden view ( they had no lagoon or magic kingom views left at the discount). They let me book the room plus book the park hopper and dining at the same time. Total cost 3329.00 for 5 nights 6 days...I think I saved roughly 1000$! Good luck to everyone else hoping for codes!!

Should have included in my above post that the total cost is for 2 adults, 1 child age 10, and 2 children under 9.....so roughly 3300, for room at poly, park hopper tixs for all of us with meal plan!

I got an email code for 40%, so we are going 2/26-3/4, 2 adults, 2 children staying ASMu for approx. $80 p/night. Total was 578.00 including taxes. Found out after I booked that is was peak season for the dates for the code on the dates I picked, but that is ok because I am so excited, we are going to Disney! :)

i booked at animal kingdom lodge for 3 nights, 3 day park passes(no hopper),dining plan, no insurance i didn't have a code but the guy looked and i don't know where he got it from but he said he put in a code for me. total price is $1777 (no travel insurance) is this a good rate? I'm new to this forum and its so overwhelming i don't know where to post things so i hope this is in the right spot:)
Im no expert, but that seems a little high, especially with a code. 3 nights/standard and no hopper option (4 adults) $1777....but Ill wait for the experts to respond=))

Got a rate of $204/night plus tax at the Poly GV 8/17 - 8/24
We're celebrating our 10th anniversary so I wanted to do it in style ;)
My dsis was the one who got the email code and we called and booked two rooms, one for her family, one for mine.
I specifically asked what would happen if my sister cancelled her reservations (they own a business so their schedule is crazy) The CM told me it wouldn't have any effect on my reservation since I already paid for one nights stay as a deposit per their policy.

I called last night to see if there was a code attached to my name and/or address, and was told yes after being put on hold. I was told I could only get one room under my name with the discount, and the CM wouldn't tell me how much the discount was for :confused3 . She said all she could tell me was if the discount was available for the dates I wanted. Based on the oddity of the answers she was giving me, I assumed it wasn't the 40% email or postcard that other people are receiving. We are looking at a trip in the early part of May.

Are you getting these via email or postcard by mail? I got a post card a few weeks ago but, dont think it was 40% off. Does it say 40% off resort rooms or does it say something different. Just want to make sure I wasnt talking to an uninformed cs person. Im calling back tomorrow.
My 1st ever postcard finally came in my maiden name with a very old email address. Ive been married 8 yrs. LOL.

Called to check and see if we had a pin or code attatched to our name. We did not, but I whined :goodvibes about needing any kind of good rate and mentioned this would be our 32nd trip to WDW. She was able to find a rate of $178 per night at Saratoga Spring(studio) for April 5-13. She mentioned a few times about us staying 8 consecutive nights, but I am not sure why, or if that made ,us eligable for this rate. We`have never stayed at a DVC resort and I am very excited.

Ok - I've been searching the threads - planning our 1st, yes 1st trip to Disney for this May. I am at a loss of how to get the discounts everyone is talking about! Am I better to book through a travel agent or do it myself? Where do you get those great tickers at the bottom of your emails?
So excited and overwhelmed!!

Hi Christine and welcome!
The most basic code you'll probably find is through AAA. Depending on the resort you choose and the time of year, you can save up to 20% off the rack rate. It's well worth the price of joining. That's your absolute first step.
The 40% thing is a stroke of luck. Either totally at random or using some complicated mathematical algorithm, Disney has decided to send a small percentage of people a coupon for 40% off room rates. No one is really sure how they decide who gets one, but going to the reservation site, asking for a free video-- basically doing anything possible to get your name into the Disney system-- probably can't hurt.
But first book with the AAA discount. If you get a PIN code, you can always change to get the discount.
Do you have any ideas on when you're going or what level of resort (value, moderate, luxury, off site, other...) you're thinking of?

A quick question that just occurred to me:
We have friends who are planning to go in June. Is it possible to add them to our reservation (either at the same or a different resort) for the same time frame as us, and for them to get the 40% code as well?

I know this is childish, but my feelings are hurt over not getting the 40% code.
I still plan on going without the code in August since the price for a 10 day trip for DS, DH and me at Pop for 10 days and basic dining is $2600, $2400 if I book through AAA.
What really killed me is my sister got the code. She's never stayed on site. We went in 2006 together and rented a villa offsite.
We've been the last four years in a row and nothing. She ordered a Disney Planning DVD 3 years ago and got the postcard for 40% off. She just chucked it without a second thought....
I am just so upset. It really is a little hard to not take personally...  :headache:

Just thought I would share what the CM told me on the phone when I called to see if we had a code or pin with our name. We have been to WDW 31 times since 1992. We did not have a code with our name and I kinda whined about that since we have been so much. She kinda laughed and said well the point of these promotions is to get people to Disney who don't come all the time. My response was, yeah but we are the ones who would actually decide to book a trip, usually one we hadn't already thought about, if we had the discount option. She agreed that was probably true, but that was her thoughts about the process. I think her statement was based on her opinion and not WDW policy. So, my point is that when our relatives whom we had convinced to join us on one of our many trips to WDW are sent a code or pin, it is because they are trying to drum up "new business" not necessarily book a trip with someone who will be making return trips anyway. Also, most of us who make numerous trips to WDW are`AP holders which make us eligable for that discount. Maybe that also goes into WDW thought process when they send the cards out. Of course, it most likely is computer generated and just a "luck of the draw" scenerio.

I don't know the exact cost of the room, but with my 40% off of the room only part this is the cost of our package. (Nov. 9-20)
We are: 2 adults, 2 jr. adults (12 and 10), and twin 5 year olds
We are staying at All Star Music Family Suite for 12 nights
We are getting regular DDP (had to pay for 4 adults/2 children)
We are getting 10 day park hoppers w/ Water Park Fun Option (had to pay for 4 adult tickets/2 child tickets)
Total was $6400 (including insurance)
They also quoted me this price with 40% off room only. (Nov. 9-15)
All Star Music
2 adults/1 jr. Adult
standard room for 7 nights
DDP
Park Hopper tickets w/ Water Park Fun Option

We'll see. I've been looking around at other vacation options. An allinclusive for DH, DS and me for a week runs about $3,000. Not too bad. We're also trying to get pregnant, so if that happens, Disney is definitely out, especially in August when we hoped to go.
Congrats on the new baby, only 6 more weeks to go!

Newbie here,
Thanks to finding this wonderful board I finally went from the planning stage to making an actual reservation on site at WDW, which I had just about given up on.
I ordered the DVD almost 2 weeks ago, but never would have known about the PIN code without this board. I called today and asked if there was a PIN code associated with my name, and almost fell over when CM said yes!! BUT, when she gave me a quote for ASMovies it worked out to $82.00 per night. I asked her (very nicely) if that was a discount, as I thought it was the rack rate. She said well, let me look further here, and after that the offers got better and better...I was on the phone for like 45 minutes very nicely asking her to get us the best deal she could. According to my CM, there are like 200 codes, and they are all different. Luckily, she was willing to sort through them until she found the 40%. :cheer2:
We got:
CBR 12/10/08- 12/17/08
5 day tickets (no hopper option)
$1547.90.
If my math is correct, that works out to $99 per night for the room.
I was thrilled! Then I saw that some people are getting moderates for $89 and I want to call back (I am quite possibly the cheapest person on the planet).
I do have a question- would it be better to get room only and order tickets separately? It sounded to me like we did better getting the package, but now I'm not sure. It's so confusing---and exciting!
Good luck to everyone- I recommend calling until you get a nice CM

I got my first-ever code yesterday in an email (40%). But when I called to try to use it, they said it wasn't "loaded" yet and I had to call back in 24-48 hours.
Has this ever happened to any of you? Will there still be rooms available at WL in September in 24-48 hours?!:cutie:

I've been calling WDTC for WEEKS to ask about codes. I NEVER get postcards, e-mails, anything. EVER.
I called tonight and asked if there were "any discounts available" or if there was a code attached to my name or household that I could use to add to my existing ressie made for WL (standard) in August.
It took calling three times and speaking to three different CMs in one night :confused3 but I finally got us a 40% off room only code!!!!:cool1:
The 1st CM offered my husband what equaled to 30% off but then told him that we would have to change our view ("no standard available at this rate") and if we didn't take the deal now "it may not be there when we called back." DH said he needed to discuss the offer with me and would take his chances. He then hung up and I called back.
The 2nd CM told me that there were "no codes attached to our household AT ALL," and discouraged me from cancelling my existing ressie "just in case a code came through later." Before I could answer her, our call was disconnected and I was switched to the phone survey.
The 3rd CM, who turned out to be the charm, said, "Oh, yes, I do see a code here, why, it's for 40% off room only!":woohoo:
WL, Woods View, 2 adults, 1 child, $1687.50 for TEN nights, again, room only, so no tix, and no dining plan.
I WAS offered a package; still 40% off the room, but full price for tix and dining plan. I was told I could add these on later if I wanted to for $3363.07 total (Resort stay, 10-day base tix for 2 adults, 1 child, plus the DDP for all three).
My advice? KEEP CALLING! And, most importantly, if you feel uneasy about your CM, politely hang up with them and call back.
Third time was a charm for me, and I hope for you too!!!!!

Unfortunately, I would have to agree. I won't say much more about it, but I think my original post backs up what you're saying. I'm just grateful to have a code. There would be no trip this year if I didn't. That certainly wouldn't be the end of the world, as we are lucky to have gone many times, but it sure makes it a little brighter.

We are staying in a woods view room at WL Sept. 6-13, seven nights for $1,181.25, or about $168.00 a night.
We were so fortunate to get the 40% off code. I asked if we could buy our tickets and the DP, and she said that with our room only ressie, we could not buy the DP - if we did, we would not get the discount because it would be turned into a package, and the code does not apply to the package. It looks like lots of people are getting the 40% off and getting the DP as well. Am I missing something?

So guess what showed up in MY e-mail this morning? An e-mail from Disney Destinations with an offer for $99 per night for a value in November (when we registered at the Disney website we said we were interested in Nov.) OR 30% off during the dates we all know from these boards. It was a direct result of sending away for the DVD as it clearly stated it is on its way, but here's something for you to enjoy in the meantime.
What's interesting is that it was addressed to my husband and sent to MY e-mail address, not his. I guess Disney has figured us out and so I don't think it matters how many e-mail addresses you register, they end up linking them.

If your going during peak season thats the avg price. I got 3 night 4 days at Coronado with DDP 2 adults, 2 kids (9 & 3) for a little under $1600. When you go to the Disney main site look in the top right and click on special offers, go down to the escape winter deal and pick book a package. It would costs me just as much as booking a package in the values without the deal. There were deals still available at CBR but its a few $$'s more. I dont think there are any more deals for values though through this deal.

Of course, I have my fingers crossed VERY tightly for FD to be offered - that is a much better savings for my family than the room discount! I wish there was a "fingers crossed" smiley lol
