View Full Version : Fess up! Who has been checking their email a lot more lately?

I know I am not the only one who has become obsessive about checking my email (and DH's) since the 40% off pin code got reported :goodvibes

Fess up if you are checking it a lot more in hopes of getting the magical Disney Destinations email! Or if you get excited to check your mailbox in the hopes the elusive postcard will be there...

Any other measures you have taken to see if it will "help"? I for one ordered a planning video. I also set up DH with an account on WDW's site and had him order a planning video as well ;)

Come share your stories as we sit and wishfully wait...

Ok, I'll cop to this.

I updated my disney profile on disney.com
I ordered the planning video
I made 2 itineraries and saved them

I am checking the e-mail a lot more than before and I want a code so bad!!!

I am going to call tonight and see if there is a code attached to my name...I feel like an idiot asking but I want it so bad.

I will admit that after reading the boards the past few days I have been checking email and just got back from getting the mail, nothing:confused:

However, I picked up the phone and called CRO about an hour ago and lo and behold, there is FINALLY a pin code attached to my name:goodvibes. Got a 40% discount for GF in Sept for around $2300, probably won't go thru with it, sort of Disneyed out:eek:

We vacationed at WDW the last two years; in 06' at AKL and BWI last month, with nary a pin code in sight! Ironic that we've decided to give ourselves a break from Disney and do some alternative vacations... and now I get the pin code!

Here's hoping there is some magic in your mailboxes!

I'll admit I've not only been checking my email, but going back through all my old messages trying to see if I missed something. No success, so I finally called today to see if there was a code by my name in the system... turns out the email they had in their reservation system was a really old email address - even though I keep my contact info updated online. Apparently the two don't interact. Maybe I'll receive something now that my info is updated. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!

I'll fess up.
Checking both of my emails & my DH's email.
Made an itinerary, made a phone call and been stalking the mailman, poor guy.

Nothing here.

I've probably ticked them off since I have...

Updated our main Disney.com profile...
Added two other Disney.com accounts - the main is in both our names with our shared e-mail address, the other two accounts are now each in our own name with our separate e-mail accounts.
Made at least two saved iteneraries on each of the three accounts
Called CRO, made a package reservation in the afternoon one day
On the same day (later that evening) called to cancel saying - "I forgot that I can get a 20% discount on my room portion if I book through CAA, unless you (the CM) can find me a better discount, I should probably cancel this ressie and book later with CAA"
And yes, I keep checking our e-mails, and checking... and checking.......

Am I being ridiculous?

AlexWyattMommy

Am I being ridiculous?

Nope, I don't think so.
I made a reservation Thursday and canceled it today, hoping they would find me a code to keep it. No luck yet.

Okay, hate to ask and seem dumb, but what is CRO? I am new to these boards and this is the one acronym I can't figure out. Please don't laugh.

CRO is simply Disney's "Central Reservations Office" - at least I'm pretty sure that's what it means.

I'm with you guys. I've probably checked my email more in the last few days that I normally would in a month. And I've done the same as a lot of you - updated my Disney profile, ordered the planning dvd, etc. Also (and it really is pure coincidence) I'm pleased that the wife and I made an $80+ order from Disney shopping last week. Can't hurt!

I'm guilty too! I incessantly check my email, and get almost giddy when the mail comes each day (darn Sunday and NO MAIL!). I updated all of my info at Disney.com and Disneyworld.com too. I haven't tried calling CRO just yet as I am saving that for tomorrow. But I know Disney has my info because apparently last year I had a code for Jan/Feb, but never received any word that I even had it! However, I think I may set up a few accounts with some alternative email addresses too! Also considered ordering another video, but already have two, the wedding video, AND the DVC video and all the information!! I think I'm beginning to hoard it!

So glad there is a support group like you guys! :worship:

I keep checking my email and this message board to get sometype of discount.. Saving money is always good in my eyes....

esdras

Well, last night I tried another option...

I called to get a quote and possibly book - but I had spent the day making Exel spreadsheets to know EXACTLY how much what we wanted would cost for every conceivable combination and discount package. I even included the cost of renting a fridge at a Value resort to let them know that I had a really good idea of how much things would cost.

So, I told them this is what we want - end of August to early September, 8 nights in either the ASMu Family Suites or two preferred rooms at Pop, either vacation including a 5 day hopper for two adults and two juniors and the basic dining plan for 7 nights (the eighth night would be booked as a room only ressie).

As the CM was figuring out the cost, I said that is should come out to (without the fridge) $3317.83 - I think she was a bit surprised as it was a bit lower than what she got - I told her to take off the trip insurance as I would decide whether to add that later - she got the same total.

I then said that we are CAA (Canada's AAA) members, and that using the 20% room discount, we could lower the cost to $3056.28, saving $261.55. The same figures for the Family Suite would be $3370.60 vs. $3033.40 for a savings of $337.20. She replied that she couldn't book a package with that discount, and that I would have to go through CAA directly. I agreed, but I said that we are always eligible for that discount, but that our budget really only allows us to go when we get a significant promotion, such as our Free Dining vacation in September '06.

So, I asked what she could do, saying that the costs for the two rooms with the current 40% code going around would come out to $2717.88 - a savings of $599.85. Or, the Family Suites with the 40% would be $2700.68 - a savings of $669.62.

I then said if Free Dining came out instead, we could save $785.22 on the two rooms and $717.86 on the Family Suite (if we booked through CAA, a little less savings, but close, if booked through Disney)

Finally, I said that if we did get the 40% code, and then Free Dining came out, we could keep the 40% on the second room in the two room ressie and apply free dining to the package, or on the Family Suite, switch to Free Dining, and place the one night room only on the 40%. Savings there would be $975.57 on Pop, or $759.45 on the Suites (okay, that would be an easy choice as to which way to go!)

So, I said we really weren't prepared to book a vacation with CAA only, when there are two potential discounts out there that could save us a lot of money and make the vacation possible - so, was there anything they could do... was there a code attached to our address?

She said no.

Okay, getting both Dining and the 40% is very optimistic, but I should be able to reasonably hope for one or the other, saving somewhere between $670 and $715 as opposed to only $260 to $335 - in other words, we should be able to save at least twice as much as opposed to only going through CAA.

Still, she said there was nothing she could do.

I said thanks anyway, and I hope something will come out for us in Canada soon.

Well, at least now they know I've done my homework and the price I'm willing to pay.

We had a ressie that was made for January with the 40% off bounceback code from our stay at the Poly late last year. We had to change that to September, because my partner was unable to make the January dates work with her work schedule. We decided that we would rather go in December 2008 with her family than go alone in September, so we called yesterday to make all of the arrangements.

Sadly, no 40% off code was listed for us. We booked ASMo using AAA. We will be there 12/10 to 12/19! We are very excited!

I just called...I asked if we had pin/code associated with our household. Here was the conversation:

CM: Quickly intrerupted me and asked, "Did you get a postcard or email?"

Me: "No."

CM: "Well then you don't have one."

Me: "But what if I was mailed a postcard and lost it? Don't you have it in your system?"

CM: "What are you wanting me to do???"

Me: "Just check if I have a household pin...By the way, sorry to bother you, and I truly appreciate you help."

CM: puts me on hold...comes back on the line "No code just as I said."

Me: "Thanks for checking, bye."

The whole conversation started off uncomfortable and odd. He seemed put out. I know enough to end the call and try to get a "nicer" CM, but thought what the heck I'm gonna ride this one out. Crash & Burn...no wonderful 20-40% off for our family either.

**Congrats to those who have gotten it though!!!!!!**

Fessing up! I've been checking my mail just like everybody. And checking, and checking and checking oh and did I mention I check my mail? I'm SO hoping for a PIN. My parents are sponsering my trip and coming along. Just one of the many many unbelievable things they've done for me over the last years. I really want to turn the surprise around. A 40% PIN would mean I could upgrade the reservation without them finding out. (I'm doing all of the ressie making, they only wanted to know the rough total price, so they wouldn't notice it actually being a bit cheaper than the rate we've got now and wouldn't notice the chance of resort untill the get there)

So I just decided 'what the heck, take your chance' and called CRO to see if there's any PIN attached to my name. Got a real nice CM, he checked a couple of things (did take him quite some time), but alas; nothing. Meanwhile we've been talking about going, when, who, why etc. The call ended with him telling me to keep my fingers crossed and keep checking, as there will be a PIN for me before december. Hmmm, that makes you hope..............

I had this CM, but I think it was his twin sister. Especially the line "what are you wanting me to do". I was told I had the code when I called and booked my ressie. Then decided to check on another date and got this CM (or one like this one) and was told, no I don't have a code. I didn't want to tick them off and have them cancel my other ressie, so ended the call. So this one told me no, but my first CM told me yes. My advice is if you ever get a good one, try to book everything and ask every question you can, because the next one will not be helpful.

Pixie dust has just landed on my head. pixiedust:

I decided I wasn't going to hold my breath for a code and to just hope I could afford to upgrade us from a mod to a deluxe for 3 nights on a AAA rate. Started out with humor when who picks up the phone but the CM that checked my account yesterday for any codes and told me 'you'll get one before december'. He gave me a nice quote, but still too much for me. Ok, happens, bummed out me but it's not the CM's fault.

Then he tells me to hold on, does a lot of fiddling and asks me how does this sound per night? Long story short, he helped me getting those 3 nights/4 days (our plane doesn't leave untill 8.30 pm, yes!) at AKL for a dream rate, which comes down to allmost 40% off. :worship: We added tickets and dining while we were at it. We've been on the phone well over an hour to get evertyhing in perfect order. Talk about endurance! :)

That CM made my day, I can tell you! Today and tomorrow, really (it's after midnight by now).

So yeah, I'll be checking my mail. Not for the code, but for the confirmation of those 3 days a special CM made possible. :cloud9:

Oh boy, I'm way too exited to go to sleep now!

Thankfully I was too excited to go to sleep. It took me about 30 minutes to come to a shocking lightbulb moment. I made my ressie for the last 3 days at AKL a package. All nice and all, but we wouldn't be able to access the MYW tickets untill we check in. We'll have been at CBR by than for 10 days, so we'ld want the tickets a bit earlier than those last 3 days. This wasn't going to work, darned! :headache:

By then I was sorry as could be for changing the ressie into a package. Don't despair, call disney! First 2 CM's told me they could get rid of the MYW's and the DDP, but quoted me the rack rate and refused to look further. By than knocking my head into a brick wall and thinking 'now you've done it, this is the price you pay for not thinking about that mistake' sounded about the only right thing. Ok, 3 times is a charm, let's try again before I give myself a bigger headache.

The third time I ran into a CM that needed a bit explaining but after that decided he wasn't giving up within one minute. He was able to lose the MYW's and the DDP, but keep the grate room rate. Making the final arrangements it turns out it wasn't all bad this happened, because now I find out that the first CM didn't put in a request for a accessible room. Third CM calls special reservations and comes back with the news that there aren't any rooms with roll in shower left for our dates. Yeiks! And one with only grab bars? For those 3 days I'll just have to get by. Again; put on hold and letting my nerves play tricks on me. Finally the CM gets back to me and tells me they still had such a room and it's now mine. Big, big, sigh of relieve!

How one woman can drive herself crazy, geesh. :scared:
