DDE (Disney Dining Experience) is a discount card you can purchase if you have an AP. I think it still costs $65, and gives you 20% discount on many WDW dining locations. Most of these are table service places.

Disney Dining Experience. It's a card you purchase, it's good for a little more than a year (so you can use it for multiple trips), and it gives you 20% off F&B (including adult beverages -- the only discount plan that does that) for up to 10 people at one meal.
You must be either an Annual Pass holder or Florida resident to purchase the DDE card. I believe the prices are $65 for AP holders and $75 for Florida residents.
The DDE card can also be used in conjunction with DDP for alcohol and other non-DDP items like appetizers, speciality drinks, or friends/family dining with you who are not on DDP.
Starting 1/1/08, an automatic 18% gratuity will be added to all DDE checks, regardless of the size of the party.

Do we have to purchase the DDE card prior to arriving, or can it be purchased when we arrive?

I believe (and correct me if I am wrong someone) that it can now be purchased on site at guest relations.
Previously it needed to be ordered in advance

Yes it can. I purchase mine at the Magic Kingdom guest relations. It is $65. It is no longer a hard, plastic card, but is the same paper used for annual passes.

Thank you for your answers. Unfortunately it doesn't pertain to us - we are not AP holders or FLA residents. We will stick with DDP

Does everyone in the family have to have a DDE card, or is it one card per family?
TIA!

You only need one card if you are all going to be eating together, because you can get the discount for up to 10 people with one card (sometimes more - we've done it with 11).
However, if your family splits up and you want additional cards, you can purchase them. I believe the additional card (formerly free) is now $25.

That's what I thought, but I wanted to verify it.
You would think that as a FL resident I would know these things.............
