I got the email from Disney Destinations and called last night and got WL for 4 nights in December and got the rate of $135 a night ($151 with tax)!! Great rate and we weren't really planning on going, but couldn't pass that up!! We usually book packages, but will save loads more by doing room only.

Okay, please forgive my ignorance. I did get an email from Disney Destinations but I don't see a 40% off code anywhere. We only have a reservation on "hold" because we have not officially decided on anything yet. Is that why? Do the emails say different things? Where does it say it on the email?
Thanks!

I got a large postcard mailer today it was this 40% off code you mentioned here. It's like a dark grey color on the out side with a yellow highlighted code right above our name. We where not planning on going till next year but may not be able to pass up this offer. We'd choose dec value season if we use it.

Tickets and dining plan UP TO 40% off as well. I got a quote for 2 adult 5 day park hoppers, one week at OKW and the deluxe dining plan for $2670 but we decided to buy APs and DDE instead (week of March 30th)

All the codes I have heard of on post cards and e-mails are name specific. I have no idea how to get on a mailing list... We received a code after we requested a planning dvd with specific dates. You can't use someone elses code unless it is for the general public... (I think):confused3

You are correct. My # code was specifically to my name. I got AKL Aug. 29, 30 & 31 for $135 plus tax. I am paying the higher fee because it is a weekend. Otherwise it would be $129 for weekdays. This is a standard view room. We don't mind.

I am thinking of doing a trip in Dec. for my mother and children Kimberh. I haven't even been on the Dis in a month. I really am sorry I left you with a mess. Life goes on and you can either decide to live it or let it live you. I have decided that I am not going to give up the things I love because my life didn't turn out the way I thought it was going to.

My PIN/post card is for room discount only. I checked with a CM and online and the GF club rate was $550 before discount, $303 after - exactly 40%. The dates are value season.
Jan 6-17
Jan 20-31
Feb 24-Mar 5
Mar 30-Apr 8
Aug 10-Sept 27
Nov 9-Nov 15
Dec 7 - Dec 17
Right now, AKL sav view for $174/night is looking good to me.
The CM I spoke to said Dec is filling up at these rates. We are going in May (free transportation and free room thanks to nearby conference), but I'm thinking of taking a second adult trip in May to celebrate a birthday.
How did we get a code? No idea. This is like the third one in the last two years (sorry) but the first one we've even considered using because of the dates and our school aged children. It was addressed to DH who has never had a room booked under his name, does not have a Disney Visa, has never requested a vacation DVD, hasn't had any contact other than a three day hopper ticket four years ago. Go figure.

I hope you don't mind if I ask you a question. I thought you could probably help me. I got the 40% off code in an e-mail. It is for room only. When I called today to make my reservation, the CM I talked to said if I used the code on the room then I couldn't get the dining plan. He said that I would have to pick between using the code on the room and the dining plan. He said that if I use the code on the room I will just have to pay out of pocket for meals.
I don't understand this. I have read on here about lots of people using the code on their room and still getting the dining plan. Do you have any advice?

I got the 40% code and looking at booking in December for the one offered the 7th - 17th. Since I don't know my specific dates should I book the whole time frame and then just modify it later? Will I still be able to get the same rate if I make changes by taking some days off it?

That's a good plan. I often do this when I book a reservation, especially a DVC room with my points. I book the timeframe I think I'm going then drop a day or two at the beginning or/and end once I decide on airfare. It's easier to have it now then to wait and try to add a day on later.

How long can you stay with these codes? Is there a maximum stay? And can you add the dining plan to these codes?
If I got a code, I would be able to go for two weeks!!! I am doubtful that I will receive a code though as I have only been to WDW once but am dying to go again of course.:cloud9:

I don't think you can be barred from purchasing the dining plan...I got a 40% off code for room only last year. In that case there was also free dining and I think THAT was either/or...it turned out that for us a discounted room at WL and purchasing the dining plan was cheaper than a mod and free dining. Could the CM perhaps have been talking about not being able to combine the room discount with a package? You can purchase the dining plan as a separate entity...just not as part of a package. Is that making sense? Like I said, I could be wrong...but really it all depends on which CM you talk to. You should call back. Just to clarify...and if you don't like the answer you get...just hang up and call back until you get the answer you want! That's the Disney way!!;)

We booked Sept. 18-28 @ Carribean Beach
10 nights of dining for 3 adults and 1 child (kids are 11 and 7)
10 day park hopper
our total before we applied discount was $4,030
After Discount $3,359:cool1:
We still hope for FREE dining...which would be additional $540 of savings.
(I assume you can not combine discounts, you have to go with one or the other, correct??)
I am so excited to at least have SOME kind of discount and SO early!!! :goodvibes
I thought I was going to have to wait till April to see any discounts!!!!

Just out of curiousity, when you get a 40% code in email, does it literally say 40% OFF or is that just what the code generally ends up bringing the rate down to?

I dont understand why this is being told to so many people, this is NOT TRUE , you cant use 40%off and free ddp but you can use it for your room then add ddp (full price)...i have done this many times and I am sure some cm would get into to trouble for discouraging people from getting the ddp, they loose money because in order to get ddp you have to buy a one day ticket at least (at their price) .

yep got the ddp with my room and used the 40% off...did this last year too....they were wrong, the 40% is off room only but if you add a one day ticket you can get the ddp with that....i got AKL CLUB LEVEL,ddp, one day ticket (i will upgrade to fl res) for 5 nights for 2 adults,1 jr and i child for 1900.00 and that is after tax that is also with a sat night stay in there (dont know how much that was)but without 40% the room alone would have been around 1725.00 and whole package would have been around 2500.00 (did not do math to exact number)and i did not have one problem adding ddp.

I just wanted to say thanks to those of you who told me to try calling again when I said the CM I talked to wouldn't let me use my 40% off code.
I just called and talked to a really helpful CM. She was more than happy to apply the code to my reservation (room only portion). It saved me over $700.00.
She said that it is a lot of computer work on her end to apply it and that is probably why the other person I talked to said it couldn't be done. He just didn't want the work for himself.
So thanks for the advice to call again!!!

Currently WDTC packages include tickets. So a package with dining would include room, tickets and dining. It could be the room or resort they want is not available or offered during the time they wish. :confused3
I think many assume they can book a room only res and just attach the DDP if they wish. This would be turning a room only res into a WDTC package.

What is the best way to ask if you have a code. I have received a few emails from Disney Destinations and just skimmed them, not really looking at the content and I may have deleted it. What do I ask a CM when I call to see if I do indeed have one?
Turtlegirl
01-12-2008, 12:25 PM
I received the e-mail on Tuesday evening via e-mail. I had recently requested the planning dvd. The e-mail was from Disney Destinations LLC and said 40 % off deluxe resorts and gave 7 different times when you could book. These are "wonderful weeks" as defined by Disney-they must be low occupancy. In Sept., value season, 40 % off value price of $340 was $204 garden view Polynesian. October-regular season Poly GV $239 (40% off $399) & AKL Savannah View $207 40% off $345. You can view what the normal season price would be on-line and then take 40% off that way you know if you're being quoted the correct price. I was able to add the DDDP.
I called at least 5 times and some CSRs were very knowledgeable and helpful and some wer quite confused.

Just call WDW CRO and tell them you'd like to check on availability and rates. Give them the dates you'd be interested in and the resort and ask if you are eligible for any type of discount. If not, then you can always say that you'll think about it and hang up. Some CMs are wonderfully kind and some are all businesslike. Don't take it personally, and you can always call again if you feel like the CM wasn't that helpful.:thumbsup2

The code definitely includes more than just standard rooms. I was able to price concierge level rooms at all of the deluxe resorts for my dates in August. Most likely it is just not available for your dates. When my first choice of dates was not available for the room I wanted the CM told me to keep calling back.

goofieslonglostsis
01-18-2008, 02:55 PM
Tmonferdini; it's the normall CRO number.
Nikandboys; no, they wont. Since 1-1-2008, they'll apply the rate for that specific night, apposed to letting you use the rate of check in date the whole trip through. Last year you could start a week trip on the last day of value season and pay value rate for the whole week. Now you'ld be paying one night for value rate and 6 nights for normall rate. So now you'ld be mostly paying rack rate, unless you decide to make the trip ealier.
I actually didn't get the code, but an unbelievable CM decided it was time to give me major pixiedust. The result; a long weekend at AKL standard view in december (value season) for only $135,- and tax a night.

I've read from multiple people getting either mail or postcard stating a certain type of resort, that were able to get the discount for another type of resort. Some mentioned there being some fine print about 'ask about other resorts'. You could allways call and ask. No harm done there.

I got a postcard today but it is only for 20% off and my dates(8/3-8/10) are not even available. I get 20% off with AAA anyway, so it wasn't a great deal even if the dates worked. My postcard said that my vacation planning DVD was on the way, so maybe the card came because I ordered that?
If you've gotten a 40% off postcard, can you tell me if it's good for 8/3-8/10? If not, I am not going to keep hoping to get one. With AAA, I got $65 a night for Pop anyway, so I may have to be happy with that.

You can book "standard" club level rooms using the code, but it's still a standard view room.

Well poop! I booked two rooms at AKL using the 40% off code, tried to book pool view but CM said only standard view rooms could be booked with the code, so that's what I booked. I called back a couple of days later hoping another CM would let me switch to pool view, but again was told I could only book standard using the code. Maybe I should try calling back again?:confused3

We are going to be part of a Grand Gathering. When I made our reservations last week at ASMu, the CM I talked to let me use my 40% off code for both the rooms on the reservation since it was my code and I was the one making the reservation.
Now today the CM I talked to said that the first CM shouldn't have allowed that, but since she did, he wasn't going to change it. He did say that he wanted to warn me that when the other family in our Grand Gathering checks in that they may make them pay the difference. He also said there was a good chance that since we have our own reservation #s that they won't realize that we shared a code. It will just show up as their own code on their reservation. I told him I wasn't trying to be dishonest, and that the CM said they do it all the time. If they do it all the time..... then it must be allowed.
It is so frustrating when the CMs all say different things. He asked me if I got the name of the CM that let me do it, and I said I did. He said that if they give us a hard time when we check in to just say the CMs name who allowed it. I am a little bit worried. :scared1:

they are not going to make them pay the rack rate...i have never ever heard of them doing that (unless ap rate or aaa rate) ...if they gave them the discount then they will honor that rate, I would not worry.i called last year and they gave me the 40% off and i did not have a postcard,i did not have a problem at all with check in,they did not even ask....have fun

tnmomof4, as long as you get confirmations stating your rate I wouldn't worry about it. Just write the CM's name on the ressie your concerned with so you remember who you spoke to if it becomes an issue, which is not too likely.
I booked 2 rooms with my AP this past Oct. for this past Dec. I specifically asked if I could book 2 rooms (I had read on here that it was no longer allowed) and the CM said no problem. :confused3
I've also had a CM tell me this past OCt. that Fantasia was the ONLY preferred bld at ASMo and refuse to put that bld as my request. :confused3

:yay: :yay: Received a 40% code to my address with my dad's name. They said I couldn't use it. Called back again told them I got a code at my address with someone elses name. Because it had my address, I could use it. I asked to have it applied to the 2 reservations I had and he said I couldn't use it because I had a package with tickets and dining. Because of these dis boards I knew to cancel and make a room only reservation. I asked for AKL standard, he said he only had savannah view for 175.00. I took it. He would not let me add tickets or dining. Why would they refuse money? I will call tomorrow to add tickets and dining. I told him I know the 40% only works on the room. but he still said no. I'm glad to see other people have called back and got dining and tickets added.

Received my large postcard in the mail 4 days ago. Thought about it overnight and called the next day. We wanted March 30-April 6. The only deluxe resort available was Saratoga Springs. We jumped on it. No problem adding park hoppers and dining. I figure that I am saving about $450. Have now been reading lots of positive feedback on the SSR, so now I am really excited. On with my quest to stay at every Disney resort. (Of course if I did not recieve the mailing I would be saving even more!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

Okay, please forgive my ignorance. I did get an email from Disney Destinations but I don't see a 40% off code anywhere. We only have a reservation on "hold" because we have not officially decided on anything yet. Is that why? Do the emails say different things? Where does it say it on the email?
Thanks!
I too got an email from Disney Destinations but no code was there... hmmmm:confused3

A standard club room is smaller than a deluxe club room. That's the difference. Well that and the price. ;)

For you folks that have gotten "extra nice" CMs who have allowed you to book extra rooms for family members, etc, etc with the code...did you read the reservation fine print? It reads:
"In addition, Disney reserves the right to cancel or modify a reservation (including after a reservation has been confirmed) if the reservation includes or resulted from a mistake or error of any kind, including but not limited to a mistake in price or description of the package or package components, or where it appears that a Guest has engaged in fraudulent or misleading activity in making the reservation. If a package is cancelled by Disney, Disney shall have no responsibility beyond the refund of monies paid to Disney for the package."
To me, that reads that Disney CAN cancel your ressie or ask you to pay the difference if one of their CMs let you have a deal that maybe they shouldn't. Has this ever happened to someone? I for one think this isn't right...if their CMs allow you to book the package AND pay for it...I don't think they should be allowed to adjust the price based on a mistake their CM may have made. If I get quoted a price, I think as a consumer, I should not be charged additional funds OR (god forbid) have my ressie cancelled because I was quoted the wrong price.
Last year, I called and asked if I had a code attached to my name. I was told that I did and was given the 40% off code. I never had received an email or postcard offer. My ressie was honored at check-in and I wasn't charged any additional funds...but have others????

It seems to me that it would be a WHOLE lot easier if the rules were printed on the postcard containing the code. I'm not trying to commit fraud; I think too much of myself and of the example I set for my kids for that.
But if I want to do something that IS within the rules, it's a different story.
Tnkrbelle565
01-25-2008, 02:39 PM
Totally agree. It would be nice if Disney would come up with a set of rules that ALL CMs hold to. I don't want to commit fraud either but I also want to get the best possible deal I can on my trip...Disney gets enough of my money every year :rotfl:

For us it's the opposite... this is the first trip EVER for my 3 kids, and I don't forsee another anytime in the near future. That's why it's SO COOL to be able to do it in style.

The last two CMs I spoke to told me that you could "gift" (you would have to book and pay for the trip) the code to someone in your immediate family (ie. like a parent to child) but if's it's extended family the answer is "no" However, a different CM might tell you something completely different. Here lies the problem

I have been reading this other thread and someone had this same question about getting two rooms.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=22771137&posted=1#post22771137
In this thread someone said that most PIN offers are allowed to book up to three rooms as long as it is at the same resort, the same dates, and the person who received the PIN is traveling. Some PIN offers may have different rules.

Does anyone else find that a little silly???
So if the info I was given by 2 CMs is incorrect, and there's no information contradicting it on the original offer, I'm somehow supposed to KNOW what the rules are? Then, after the plans are made and a deposit has been put down, the rules are explained?
Again, I'm not talking about committing fraud-- I'm big on following the rules.
I'm sincerely hoping that this confusion is about a different series of codes with different rules.

Exactly what I was saying...I think Disney should have to give you what the CMs quote you at booking. If I bought something at a store and it rang up wrong, I wouldn't except a store employee to run out saying either I have to pay more or return the item :rotfl:
If you've gotten your email confirmation...open up the link that says "click here for reservation details" or something like that. You should see your package details. If you scroll all the way down, the disclaimer I was quoting is under the category "General Conditions and Responsibility" I actually just cut and pasted it from my ressie.

I agree. It seems there is very little accountability for CM's. Most companies do honor quotes/prices, even when incorrect, but Disney appears to be against that policy.

Hi soupy one! Call Disney and ask if there is a code asscoiated with your name. If you got it in the mail it will be on record with your name in their data base as I was told by a cm. A lost code at home doen't disappear in their system.

They all look different. The 40% off one that they just sent was rather large..in fact, if I'm remembering correctly, it wouldn't have even fit in my mailbox at college. It would have been one of those things you would have had to pick up at the counter. Good thing is...the code is associated with your name. So if someone "accidentally" takes it...they wouldn't be able to use it.

We didn't get a card in the mail or an e-mail. We booked our trip for December 08 a week after we returned from our wonderful first trip at the Poly this past December. I also signed up for the planning dvd. After reading the boards about a 40% code--I called twice a day for a good week---no luck. My hubby said we should just cancel our ressie and hope for a code. It would be too expensive too close to christmas to go for a whole week at full price. I knew that financially he was making a lot of sense, but the tinkerbell in me just didn't want to hear it.
I called for another couple of days with hubby harping in my ear to "just cancel". I think it would have killed him to pay full price when he knew that others were getting 40% off. I finally got up the nerve--spoke with a CM and asked her to look to see if we had a code--expl'd that my hubby wanted me to cancel etc..--she looked--no code--accidentally got cut off as my 18 month old switched off my computer modem. I called back 5 MINUTES later spoke with another CM--said what the heck--I'll ask her to look again before I cancel---OH MY GOD--GUESS WHO HAD A 40% CODE?? Now I don't know if we just luckily had the most wonderful CM working that day OR it could be the fact that she took the time to look under all of our names. All I can say is DON'T GIVE UP--KEEP CALLING RESERVATIONS!!

Actually, yes, Our Cm was kind of rude when my husband called. The Cm wanted to know where we heard of such a ridiculous idea (calling to see if pin codes were attached to our name, as if) He said the only way to find out about codes was to recieve them via email or through the regular mail, unless its publicly announced through a magazine or something. The CM acted as though we were wishful thinking, which we are of course but...... a discount is a dscount right?! So yes we experienced the rudeness also, we are in the same boat...*stretching out hand* Nice to meet you, LOL!

I got one in the mail on Sat. I didn't think anything of it as I started reading it (I must have opened it while I was watching tv) then I get to the bottom and it says use the code to by March 31st. Then I turned it over and saw SAVE 40%. I immediately called. We had a suite at the ALL Stars booked. They said that for the time we wanted it did not apply to that so we tried POP for two connecting rooms. I got it for $55 a room and saved over $300. My sons don't care as long as they each have their own bed.
I can make 1 more reservation with it and I have to decide where dh and I will spend the one night before the boys join us. I'm thinking something with a view. We shall see. We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary.

I then got a 40% of deluxe. It came to my address but in my father's name and again was told no. That was not OK. I got sick of it.
So, I then sent an email explaining how disappointed I was in the whole situation, especially that my dad got the code at my address just because I paid for his trip on my card last time. I was mad, because it was obvious that the code was for my household as it came to my address. 5 days later I got a call from one of the leadership coordinators who changed the code to my name and booked my vacation. :cool1: :cool1: I saved close to $600 on my 6 night stay at WL.
I guess taking the extra step did pay off. :cloud9:

Did anyone get a code that could be used in July?
I am waiting and waiting for a code and my luck you can't use it in July! Not that I wouldn't plan another trip with a discount like that!!:cool1:
