We've used the kids' clubs at WDW for 10 years. Hands down, our ds' favorite was always the Neverland Club at the Poly. If you're going to be at the GF for dinner, it will be very convenient for you! Ds loved it so much he'd usually ask to go more than once each trip. ;)
The GF also has the Mouseketeer Clubhouse, but I can't give you any feedback on it because we never used it.

Currently at SSR, which I love, however would love to be closer to MK...so in May I will try to get in at VWL...knowing my chances are slim:(
DH wont let me pay $$ for a monorail resort since we have DVC. And I dont want to use pts for a deluxe resort stay.

Check out a the Passporter Guide to Walt Disney World. It is wonderful, and it has pockets in the back for all your planning needs, as well as areas throughout the book where you can write down ressies or other notes.
I also enjoyed Complete Walt Disney World. It is different from all the other guide books and gives more info about the parks than anything else.

That is not the reason I get it. The one I have I got in Nov 2007 for 2008 and is good until the new one comes out in Nov 2008 for 2009. I will make several trips thru the year, but I do only write trip info in it for my Dec 2008 trip. I know almost all of the info in the book anyway, it just helps me get organized for a stree free trip and everything is all in one place.
It is still nice to have a guide to refer to when you can't get on to Dis.

Tried to get into WL that week - but the standard rooms are apparently all booked ALREADY (at least those with the AAA rate ...) Doesn't matter - we ate at Boma last May and DW fell in love with AKL ... :cloud9:
DD will be turning 5 a month (to the day) beforehand - so this trip will be a birthday surprise for her ... :princess:
Make sure you get a "Birthday" button for your DD ... Is a month later too long to get our DD a button? - even if the trip is a sort of birthday present?
[Of course not ... :)]
I'm thinking of using the AKL "kids club" one night for a relaxing dinner someplace ...

It's the best time of the year there. There is so much to do that it's hard to fit it all in. Some of my favorites are:
MVMCP - hot chocolate and snow on main street, Mickey's Night Before Christmas Show in Tomorrowland and another show at the castle, characters all over and if you go on a Tuesday, the crowds are quite low. A hard ticketed event.
Candlelight Processional - in front of the American pavilion in the World Showcase. A celebrity reading the Christmas story backed by a full orchestra and a massed choir singing carols. Amazing, but be sure to buy the CP package which includes a full dinner at one of the countries and reserved seating for the show. The show itself is free, but those without reserved seating might have to stand in line for a long time, and might not get in.
Osborne Light - at the studios. Millions of moving lights set to music and snowflakes drifting down. Magical.
Christmas wishes and the Christmas parade at the Magic Kingdom - not to be missed.
Decorations at the parks and at all the resorts - If you get a chance, ride the monorail to the monorail resorts just to check them out - for example, a full sized gingerbread house in the GF lobby with cast members inside selling gingerbread - a small group upstairs playing carols :santa:
Wow, I do go on, don't I, but:
Do decorate your room, try the hot chocolate at the resorts (it's to die for),
see the parade at AK, and much, much more....
OH, and have the time of your life............Laura

Hi Laura - some questions ...
Are Tuesdays "historically" the least crowded? I would think so, compared to Fridays and Sundays at least ... which is why that's the day we plan on hitting MVMCP ... But I heard some "horror" stories about this past December 11 - which was a Tuesday ... :worried: :jumping1:
Can you use the DDP for the Candelight Processional "dinner package"?

We are going in December as well. Yeah I am so excited already I think I might bust!!!! I am going to do a pre-trip report or at least start one now because I can't hardly stand waiting to talk about the trip! We have our ressies for Dec 2nd through the 8th and we may even ad an extra day in there because we do not want to have to leave! We are staying at AKL and this is only our 2nd trip to WDW...our 1st was in 2006 and we stayed in a villa at the Boardwalk (so beautiful)! Anyhow like I said ressies are made and trip is paid for now we just spend the rest of the 9 months and 2 weeks saving money for spending while there and also picking up items for our trip along the way!
Is anyone else who is going in December already this excited this early??? I just do not know how I am going to wait....I wanna go tomorrow:woohoo: . Anyhow glad I found this thread. Oh and one more thing for those of you who are going in Dec as well.....What are you doing this early in the year as far as planning??? Anything yet???

Got the 40% code and finally convinced DH to book! Dec. 7 - 14. No WL or AKL Savannah available, so we are back at the BC which we enjoy a lot. We usually go during Halloween so I won't be able to wear my blue fairy costume to the party. Oh well
The kids have never seen Christmas at WDW and it's been a long time for us also. Our youngest DS will be 3 in a few weeks and now is 36.5" tall. Do you think he will be close enough to 40" by Dec.to make it on the big rides? Last trip our other son was right there at the height line with shoes on so we stuffed a few napkins in his shoes so he would be just over. Does anyone else have this issue?

We'll be at WL the 18th to 23. I have a feeling it might be crowded. Last year it seemed many people said the crowds didn't get bad til the 23. But I wonder if it has more to do with the day of the week than the date. The 23 was the Sunday before Christmas in 2007. This year the Sunday before Christmas is the 21. And when I look at MK hours for past years, the park didn't stay open til 11 or 12 until the Saturday before Christmas. I know MVMCP was before that.
Do you think the big crowds arrive the Saturday before Christmas? We're pulling ds out of school Friday the 19 and maybe the 18th, but I hate for him to miss more than that.

Hello all my December buddies!! I have been thinking about WDW all day now and even called the travel agent who booked it for us the 2nd through the 8th and asked her to take some more notes for us....LOL andyhow it was a good thing I called her because Disney had made a ****oo and only had us down staying through the 7th of Dec but we have paid through the 8th....I about flipped and told our travel agent that Disney better have a room available for that last night at the AKL because we booked this back in Dec 07 and we are not about to give up a day there and do not want to have to change resorts for the last night of our stay!!! I told her that if it becomes a problem that Disney was going to have to comp us big time for this error!!! Well I went into panic mode mode for about 20 to 30 minutes because it was the unknown with Disney..... NOT MY DISNEY!!! She called back real quick and said she got it all taken care of so we are good to go and now Disney has it right in their computer.....Yeah!!!!!
Can you imagine if I had not called her or what if I waited until later this year to call and check in with her and we ran into this issue.......I am sure AKL would have been booked up by then and we would have had some issues to deal with...I think she may hear from me once a month now until we leave.....LOL....she's going to love me.......I am sure she will have nightmares about the disney freak that calls every month just to hear that nothing has gone wrong with her ressie....LOL
Anyhow you all have a great night and oh yes I will let you all know when I get my pre- trip report started... I am going to make it fun sharing Disney moments of the past including pictures from Disneyland and our 1 trip to WDW.

Questions for my december buddies: have you been planning your ADR's? or What days you'll go to which parks? And what time do you typically make your ADR's for? I was looking at the UG best days and then I looked at the historical hours for the parks during our stay 12/6-12/13. It looks like all the "best" days for our time frame fall on the short hours for MK-like closing at 7pm. I've got little kids, so I know MK is important-and we plan to spend 2 days at MK. Should we go ahead and go on the best days with the short hours? Or ignore those best days and plan for the longer hours days? Does any of my rambling make sense?
LVSWL
02-29-2008, 09:43 PM
We always follow UG best days. That being said, during the time that you are going in December, there will probably be several days that the MK is closing at 7 because of MVMCP. That might be a great option for you to get in lots of fun at MK for your kids. Some people even sleep in that day, maybe do a Chef Mickeys lunch/brunch and you can enter MK at 4 with your MVMCP ticket and not buy a park ticket for that day. Or..just plan to go to another park early, come back and nap/rest/swim and then hit the party. If you want to eat in MK, many people make an ADR for around 4:45-5:30 and that way they have finished just in time to really enjoy the party. Have a wonderful trip!:santa:

Disney hasn't officially posted park operating hours for December yet (only through September) - or MVMCP dates. The UG dates (which I also use) may be revised once the official park hours are announced ... However, my understanding is that MVMCP is usually held Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday ... so that's what I planning on (for now ...) :3dglasses
... and looking forward to an early dinner at Liberty Tree :goofy: :mickeyjum or the Crystal Palace pooh: :eeyore: before the MVMCP ... and sleeping in the next day ...
And coincidentaly, I actually just started to discuss what parks to visit on what days (based on the UG) for Dec 6-13 on my pre-trip planning report

My understanding is that it goes until about 12:30 am - not sure what time the MVMCP "festivities" end - but think of it as a party followed by "EMH" with some of the attractions open ...

We will be there December 7th to the 13th at CBR.
Never been at Christmas so we are really excited. I'm thinking I should pick up some lime green mickeys for our trip. There seem to be a lot of us going about the same time.
For those that have been before, is it overlycrowded during that week?

We are staying at the Poly 12/7 to 12/15. We have our plane tickets and I am working on ADR plans to give to my TA for the rapidly approaching 180day mark. We also plan on doing BBB for dd and the rest will I guess just all fall into place.
We are planning on doing MVMCP, the Candelight Processional, Osborn lights and of course doing some resort touring!!!!:cool1:
But we are staying a few extra days to get to see all that and enjoy the absolute tranquility of the Polynesian :cloud9:
I am looking forward to holidays at Disney World. It will be like going for there first time again with addition of the holiday decoratios. How special:love:
looking forward to hearing all of your plans!

We're going Dec. 4 - 13 staying at the Pop. :woohoo: I'm glad there are other Disney addicts out there to share my excitement!
We'll be at Pop from Dec 5 to Dec 13th. We stayed at Pop in Dec of 2006 and my DD loved it so I had to re-book this year. Hope you have a great time.

We'll be there Dec. 7-13 at BCV - our fave! Looks like we're the only ones on this board at BCV. Wanted to come in Dec. 6, but I have a work event that morning! GRRRR.
1st time at MVMCP was overwhelming. We weren't sure if we wanted to do it again. We did - & regretted it. We won't be doing it this time. Too crowded. I like regular Wishes better. No more free photos. Liked the old Christmas parade better (not the new one launched last year). Cost.
Will definitely do Osborne Lights. Not sure about Candelight - will mostly depend on temperature.
We have leftover tickets from a previous trip, so that's a huge cost savings. Will probably do 4 park days: 2 whole at MK and split the others between EPCOT & DHS. We don't care at all for AK.
We'll also do our traditional shopping at DTD and miniature golf. Definitely will visit the other resorts to take in the holiday decor.
The detailed spreadsheet is coming along nicely!

We are staying at POP 12/5 - 12/14 and I am busting at the seams to plan our MVMCP, I would love to get the crystal palace, then head to the party!!!!! This will be our first MVMCP, we just did the MNSSHP in sept at it poured rain for hours, but the kids still went trick or treating.
I think I must have been at the same MNSSHP, if it was last year. Because it was a total rain out!! They were handing out passes for a free admission some other day, but my MIL went to customer service and complained enough that they ended up refunding our money for it. I was glad for that since we didnt get to enjoy it at all!:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Any help or suggestions are really welcome!!! And we'd love to meet other families going the same time we are!!
Thanks all:tink:
*on a side note this site has the best selection of smiley's of any board I've ever been on...:disrocks:
We celebrated my DD 3rd bday there in 2005, and it was wonderful. We did the cinderella breakfast at the castle (this was before BBB--but we did that last year) and she had her button on. She had a wonderful time and still talks about it. I think the part she remembers the most, is I got some small Disney themed gifts and wrapped them in Disney paper, and collected bday cards with Disney characters. I signed all the cards with the character on it, and on her bday when we got back the bed was covered with little presents and cards from her Disney friends. (I snuck back in while we were walking out and sat them out!) She LOVED it!! We went again for the 5th bday and we had to repeat this, and again she loved it!! In fact she wants to know if they are going to bring Christmas presents this year since we are going near christmas.:cutie: princess:

I love your pic with the bike - We are going Dec 3-10 2008. I cannot even stand waiting that long!!!!!! It has been two years since we went. When we went in 2006 we did the princess lunch at the castle with dd's 7 and 3 sooo cool. Although DH didn't think he got enough to eat. I'm like - food is not the point here!! He's a good sport though. :goodvibes
I'm thinking hmmmmm what to distract myself while I wait???? Go on DIS boards, look at our pictures from 06, maybe I'll work on losing 20 lbs so I look hot at the pool?
The cool thing is when you go in DEc. everything is decorated for xmas. It is way cool.
It's so nice to see other people as Disney crazy as me because my friends think I need an intervention!!!!!!:rotfl:

We will be there Dec. 4th through the 13th at WL. It's my DD 7th birthday on Dec. 9th and we are planning on BBB and CRT. We are thinking of MVMCP that night also. This is a surprise trip for my DD and DS. We are not telling them until the day we leave. It's killing me already and I don't know how I'm going to make it to Dec. without spilling the secret! :rotfl:

We'll be there December 7th - 14th. The past couple of years my DD, DSIL, 2 DGSs, and my DH and I have made it a point to plan a trip to visit Mickey in December. It's the best Christmas gift I could ever receive and my fave time of year to visit.

My DH had origonally said that we could not go this year. He just wanted to go go the beach. But Friday night over dinner he said he was thinking that maybe we could go at the end of the year.
I've been once in December when I was a kid and I've wanted to go back so badly to see the decorations and festivities. So here's hoping that will happen this year!
If we go it would probably be the week of Dec. 7-14 or 14-21. How bad do you think the crowds will be?
Any good tips for December? I want to see fanstasmic this time, we didn't get to last time. I also want to do MVMCP.
