We're flying Edinburgh to MCO via Manchester. First leg with BMI then Virgin. All booked with Expedia with only one airline e-ticket for each person.
I had hoped to do on-line check in which looks easy enough with Virgin or do I have to check in with BMI? :confused3 Anyone done same trip before?
Also hoped baggage would be tagged straight through but now read something on BMI site about this service being cut back!

From the BMI website
http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/planningandinformation/check-in/throughcheck-in.aspx
If you are booked on a single ticket then they will book your bags through.
Both online check-in opens 24 hours in advance.
I'd still check in online for BMI first and see if they will let you check in for the virgin flight online, I doubt it. Then check in online for virgin.
I did a similar thing with BA and virgin last year via Gatwick. You still have to visit the check in desk for the BA fast bag drop off at EDI. I got the bags checked through at that point.
I'd printed off all my boarding cards for the way out, on the way back I got the virgin staff at MCO to check us in for the BA flight and got our boarding cards at that point.

Thanks Jakey. I'd misread the BMI page but that looks as though bags will get checked through. :)
Next problem is getting a booking confirmation number that works on the BMI site! I've tried every no. on my e-ticket without success! I've e-mailed Expedia for some help, just waiting for reply.

Not sure if it's relevant to you but you can't do online check in with an infant.
Online check in is only open 24 hours from departure, you can only "manage your booking" prior to this if you have an online account with them or are a diamond club member. You can do either from here -
https://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/my-flybmi/my-flybmi.aspx?ReturnUrl=/bmi/en-gb/my-flybmi/manage-bookings/manage-bookings.aspx
Other than that I guess you need the lucky booking ref.

Thanks Jakey. No babies anymore thank goodness just teenagers to torment me!
Expedia replied with the info I already had but I phoned BMI with my airline ticket no's and they were able to give me a code that works!! ;)

Good stuff, this inter webby thing is going to catch on. :)
Something for other Expedia folk to know.
One last thing if you didn't know, BMI should honour the Virgin baggage allowance if you are on a single ticket.
