Does anyone know if the wii remotes sold in America work on our system, I know the games don't :headache: but was wondering if the handsets do? as they are a bit cheaper :yay:

No they don't work over here.
my dd has got a wii and bought the wii remote charging station, which you need to use with a transformer with over here. Transformers are only $20 in wal mart!
hope this helps!

As you say the charging station will not work over here, but the contolers should as there battery opperated? the only outher hardware that wouldent work is the box as its region coded

Ok, being a bit of a tech head I can confirm that Wii remotes and Nunchuks (the extra control that attaches to the wii!) will 100% work with a UK Wii, infact any Wii remote will work with any Wii console in the world. :thumbsup2
As Paul mentioned, they link up to your console via the magic of Bluetooth connectivity which is not effected by where you purchased the Wii remote from.
Just remember that games ARE region locked so you wont be able to buy any from the US and play them on your UK console.
Hope this helps! :)

Apparently the box is not region coded its just the games which have the code.

Hi!
I can confirm with orlandomagic, the wii remotes DO work. I should know I bought 3 in December for friends as they were so hard to get hold of before christmas. They will work, as they are battery operated, but as you have been told, the games or systems wont.
Have fun!!

That's great news, as we need another Wii remote so we can all play at the same time! Thanks for asking the question :)
Jeanette - I had also assumed they wouldn't work for the same reason as you :goodvibes
