I am currently in Escrow and it will take another 4 weeks to close. I hear reservations start about 11 months prior to use date. This will put me at a disavantage because my close will after the date that I could make my reservations, especially with the hard-top-get Christmas vacation time frame.
My question is, can I just make a cash reservation and then roll it to my DVC reservation?
Thanks,
HJGaus

:welcome: to the DIS!
I am going to move this over to our DVC board. Hopefully someone there can answer this for you :)

Asking this question on the DVC boards. I see it has already been moved however. I would say that you shouldn't worry too much however, because you are speaking of a Christmas Vacation:cool1: and should be closing in about 4 weeks, so you are still well within the 11/7 month window. Meaning you should be able to get ressies at your home resort if that is where you want to stay.:thumbsup2

I would also call your guide and explain your plans. There is no gaurantee they can get the close in time but unless you try you and they will never know. Good luck and Welcome Home!

We were able to hold a reservation while we finished up the details. Why is it taking 4 weeks for you to close? Resale points? Ours did not take anything compared to that.

Had you purchased thru Disney...you would have been making ressies within a few days from you credit being checked, or any paperwork done...that said:
Because you bought resale you don't have a guide yet and cash ressies are not in the same "bucket" as are DVC points. So...you must wait till you close but I don't see a problem getting ressies looking at the time you are looking to go on vacation.
BTW... Welcome Home !!!:goodvibes

As others have said, as long as you can book BEFORE the 7 month window opens your home resort up for everyone in the DVC system, then you should be able to get something. The question will be if the size accommodations you require are available. You don't say what your home resort is. If it is OKW, BWV, AKV or SSR, you should be okay.

No! Cash rooms and DVC rooms are two different catagories. You can link a cash reservation and a point reservation together for a continuous stay.
Congratualtions on your purchase and Welcome Home!

Okay, THAT might be an issue. That is especially true if you want either a studio or dedicated 2 bedroom.

Sorry hjgaus but you'll need to wait till "after you close" then call for ressies.

Hi all, I'm also new to the DVC and the boards and have a "new guy" question about member to member transfering of points.
Specifically how does it work? Member A calls MS and requests the points be transfered to Member B's account and then it's up to Member B to make all reservations and use the points from there?
Also, does Member B now have to use the transfered points before using any of their own?
Thanks for the help!
