Well, I've caught up! :surfweb:

My Mom wasn’t too pleased when we announced that we were going to get married at Disney – I think she thought it was going to be all childish and that they would have to dress up as characters. Oh if only!

Haha, before I took DF to Disney (he had never been before), I think he thought it was all about people dressed up as characters...and I don't even think he thought of Jasmine, etc., but just the ones in those character suits, lol.

I asked if they had the specific dress (Lynette) and was corrected on my pronunciation of 'Sottero' first of all (!) and then told they didn't have it. I asked if they had any of her dresses with pick-up skirts and they asked me what that was. Hmmm, not a good sign.

Wow, they correct you on the name of the dress, and then don't know what a pick-up skirt is!

I would like to introduce you to my new baby. Her name is Capri Royale and she is perfect:

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b263/blondepuff/wedding%20pictures/CapriRoyaleFront.jpg

I really wanted a dress that looked like Belle’s dress from Beauty and the Beast

Love it! :thumbsup2

One time when I was at the restaurant in the Polynesian I saw a girl in a dress JUST LIKE the Belle dress. It was April and she was there with her date before the prom. It was adorable. :)

Awww, how sweet is this? My Nan died last week and Mom told me she had left some money which Mom wanted me to have towards the dress. I was really touched. Mom said it would be Nan's way of bieng with me on the day

Aww. My grandmother's not doin' too well, but she gave me a pearl and diamond necklace my grandfather had given her to wear. :) I think part of it was cuz she wanted me wearin' somethin' of hers since my dress was my other grandmother's.

Mom and Dad are looking at villas, we are starting to put together an itinerary for the trip and looking at doing something special for them to say thank you.

I've been wondering what to get my parents for the longest time. Finally it hit me to get the hot air balloon ride thing at Downtown Disney. My mom has wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride since she first saw the film in France, so I know she will love it. I just dunno if it's my dad's thing. I'll have to see, and maybe get him something seperate. :)

We also booked Jiko as a thank you meal for my parents before they fly back to the UK. We are using the limo in the wedding package to pick us up, take us to Cirque du Soleil and then over to AKL. They have no idea what we have planned for them!

Love Jiko! :thumbsup2 Have you seen Cirque du Soliel? If not, it's awesome! popcorn::

BTW, when's your last day in Disney gonna be? I just realized we might be there when you are, lol.

Wow, you really did catch up! Thanks so much for reading :goodvibes

We went to CduS for Tim's birthday a couple of years ago and were just blown away with. My Wrinklies (as we call my parents) will just love it. We're also using the limo in the package that day to pick us up and take us to downtown disney, and then onto the Lodge. Perfect!

I'm sorry to hear about your Nan - it's horrible isn't it? Sending you love and hugs :lovestruc

Our last day in Florida is Sunday 27th December but we are staying onsite until the Tuesday before. The rest of the time we have in a villa which is our wedding present from the Wrinklies.

We got our BEO today and it is perfect, apart from the fact we need to change the number of guests for lunch which will affect the price.

We don't have the floral cost in it yet, but at least we know how much the bulk of it will be.

We also thought the unlimited drinks package covered alcohol but it is only soft drinks so we need to decide whether to include that or have it billed on consumption.

Our planner has done a great job getting everything we wanted absolutely spot on, even with some last minute alterations. We've decided to have the champagne toast at the Boardwalk and the cake cutting at the GF.

Just need to pay for it now. Anyone fancy helping out??!!

I told it its much cheaper to have it BOC.

Yeah, definitely. There is $100 straight off for a bartender if we want to do it as a package or an open bar.

I think we are going to have a few bottles of wine and leave it at that. There are only a few people who drink so it seems a complete overkill to pay for an open bar or have an alcoholic drinks package.

Disney's wines start at $35 for the house wine so I'm going to ask the drinkers what wine they would like and have it pre-ordered.

We had a bit of a stressful time this weekend trying to pay for the wedding.

We have a fairfx card and, now that we know the amount from Disney, wanted to transfer the amount across ready to pay. I tried to transfer $5000 (£3000) and it was rejected. My bank said there was no problem with the payment and it must have been the merchant (Fairfx) that rejected it.

I checked with Fairfx and they hadn't rejected the payment, my bank hadn't authorised it. Luckily the money hadn't moved anywhere - I had visions of £3000 floating around in a virtual reality somewhere!

Turns out i had tried to transfer more than the maximum amount for an online transaction which is why the bank hadn't authorised it.

The currency transaction with Fairfx was cancelled as they didn't receive payment so no harm done.

I need to get the money across in smaller amounts so it doesn't throw up the same problem, which is fine, but you can bet your life the exchange rate will go down as I'm doing it. Luckily we have plenty of time before we need to pay Disney so i can do the smaller amounts every day until we have what we need.

Phew!

We are having to do that as well as our credit card limit isn't enough.

That's one of the reasons we went with the pre-paid credit card - the limit you can have on that is $10,000. Plus we get a much better exchange rate than using a standard credit card and no transaction fees or % taken by the credit card company.

Oh my!
Now that is something that would set me over the edge!
I'm glad that you found a solution...

Oh yes, my edge was nearly well and truely crossed believe me!
We now have half of the amount transferred that we need and the other half will be tomorrow so no harm done, well, only to my nerves anyway!

Nice idea but we don't drink - only diet coke and coffee so the caffeine may not help at the mo!

Hi,

Thanks!!

No problem. I'll get it on here over the weekend. We have had the final costings from Rosie in floral so I can now add that in too.

You're the second person to say how good the servers are there which is really good to hear.

We've just been shopping for tim's wedding band and he went for a 9ct yellow gold flat band. It looks really good. We've had to order it as they didn't carry his size. It cost us the grand total of £7/$12 as he won some money on the lottery last week!

We signed off our BEO with our planner and sent the credit card authorisation form yesterday. The money has been taken so that is it - all confirmed and payed for. Wow, now this is serious. I'm nearly an old married woman!

I've posted this on the main Wedding board but wanted to put it in our PJ too.

We have had our final BEO through (and paid for it woo-hoo) and I thought you would like to see the breakdown. I've put the total figure which includes any gratuity and tax:

Escape Wedding Package
1 Wine Sparkling Brut
1 Escape Wedding Set-up
1 Venue Rental
1 Escape Wedding Photo Package
1 Violinist/Escape Wedding
1 Bouquet
1 Boutonniere
1 Limousine Charter
Event Total - $4499.99

1 Wedding Cake Upgrade - $161.09
Total - $161.09

7 Soft drinks & Bottled Water Package @ $12.50 per guest - $112.76
2 Bottles House Wine @ $30.00 bottle - $77.32
7 Ybor City Montage Buffet lunch @ $72.00 per guest - $649.48
1 Small Party Service Fee @ $50.00 - $53.25
Total - $892.81

Extra Floral
1 Fathers Boutonniere - $10.50
1 Brides Mothers Corsage - $25.00
Aisle petals - $65.00
Sand ceremony petals - $12.50
1 Single Long Stemmed Rose - $20.00
3 Chiffonbags with petals @ $3.50 per bag - $10.50
Total $152.83

Event Total - $5706.73

The only thing we spent more money on than we intended to was lunch. We were originally going to go to the GFC and had 12-14 guests so we reckon lunch ended up less than double what we had planned. We weren't going to upgrade the cake but then saw one we fell in love with!

Phew what a week! I seemed to have spent more time in the car than at home this week. I only went to the gym once and that was just to go on the sunbed. I wasn't being lazy, I was just really tired and not going has made me feel sluggish.

I went for my final dress fitting and it looks so good, especially with 3.5" less of me in it :rotfl:

The seamstress did a bustle for me on the train and also one either side of the central bustle and it looks fantastic - just a bit of the material on the floor to sweep behind me. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!

I took my flight case in and the shop is going to steam the dress and pack it the day before I pick it up. They are letting me hire a crinnie for 4 weeks at less than half the cost of buying one which is fantastic. It's a quiet time of year for them so they offered me the crinnie rather than buying one. How good is that? They could have had more money from me.

I started to feel a bit overwhelmed with everything this week and took a deep breath this morning and started to look at what needed doing. On the wedding planning side there is nothing, we have confirmed all the times with the vendors and paid for everything we can.

Tim is now working 12 hour shifts and will be right up to the day we fly so we don't have much time during that last week to get things packed and ready. When he is at home he is absolutely shattered so I am doing as much as I can with the wedding stuff, packing, cooking, cleaning etc.

I've nearly finished the itinerary cards with our reservation numbers on, phone numbers etc so that is another thing nearly done and ticked off the list.

We went through the holiday cases and sorted out some of our clothes to take and threw away some old ones. I have thrown out half of my wardrobe as nothing fits anymore!

I started to get the goodies together that I bought ages ago for the welcome bags/wedding favours and they look really good. I have some things to buy for them when we are out there so feel happier that they are coming together. I've been buying things for the last 18 months...

I've just bought wedding pressies for Tim, my Mom and my Dad and got cards for each of them to open on the morning of the wedding. I've been making something for my Mom for ages and I finished that last weekend. I'm going to post it separately as I know my Mom has a link to this PJ.

We've got a lovely present for our planner and that is in the case ready, along with a thank you card and paper.

I'm frustrated as I have nowhere to put the cases out to put things in and I'm worried I'm going to forget something. My packing list is getting longer and longer to include everything!

I am getting my hair highlighted next week and then I'm straight off to the salon that is doing the extensions so they can colour match and order the hair. Next is getting them fitted - I am so looking forward to it!!

There isn't that much to do really but it ran away with me this week.

Right, enough of all that. Back to being me, back to the gym and back to being super organised.

Cool, we'll do our best to be there around that time. I missed you in Birmingham so it would be great to meet you.

Hmmm. How about all the stress his family has caused has pushed you to the edge and you need to get away? Or you need to go to the Disney Store at DTD to get him an extrta special present that you can only get there and they can't ship it? You suddenly get a craving (that'll worry him lol) for a Carrot Cake Cookie and they can only be bought at Goofy's Candy Store? Someone has mysteriously offered to pay for your DFTW and you have to meet them over Christmas in Disney - you have to come alone...

That last one was a suggestion by the way. Don't get excited. With our finances at the moment we might be able to stretch to the Carrot Cake Cookie :rotfl:

Operation Wedding Hair started today!

My natural colour is a dark blonde and I have grown any old colour out for the last 2 years. I went to Toni and Guy to have blonde colour with lighter highlights. Let me say that again - blonde colour with highlights.

Hmmm. 2 hours later and it was not blonde colour with highlights. The highlights were there but the blonde colour was just 1 shade later than my own colour. The colour technician had used a 'warm honey blonde highlight' and lighter highlights. My hair is virtually a warm honey blonde anyway.

So, with my face like thunder the manager comes over and tries to tell me they had done what I had asked them to. Err, no you didn't. They said I could go back next wek after the colour had settled down and have more highlights. Err, no I can't. I had my hair extension colour match booked in for this afternoon so they could order them and do them on Thursday for me.

Anway, they said they couldn't do any more colour or highlights as they were worried my hair would turn out too dry. My solution? Fix it or I stay here all day.

They put some more highlights in the top to brighten it but wouldn't do the rest. Better but still not what I asked for,

I went downstairs to pay and looked in the mirror and my hair was so light on the top it looked almost white. Then it dawned on me. The light upstairs was a more natural light as I was by the window, and it has been a really dark and miserable day in Birmingham today. I was now looking at it under a halogen. Why didn't they move me to see if I was happier with the colour? Grrr.

I'm really not happy with Toni and Guy. I have been going to them for years as I think (thought) they were really good but this time, for my wedding hair, they screwed up.

I went to the hair extension place to get the colour match done and am happier with it than I was in the hair salon, although it is very light blonde on the top. They have matched 4 colours to my colour and will be ordering them today for me. They are going to run lighter blonde through the back to tone in with the top so it should turn out very blonde. I am so excited to get extensions!

I am booked to go back to Toni and Guy next Saturday to get my hair and extensions tidied up and styled - their suggestion at half the cost of a normal appointment as a gesture of goodwill. They have booked me with the Technical Director too so I'm happy. Well, happyish.

I'll get the extension people to take a picture of my hair before and after and post it next week.

Funny really. I've been looking forward to this for 2 years and it has been the most stressful and unhappy day of all the planning. Oh well, if the worst thing that happens is that my hair is too blonde I can live with that :)

I cant believe they didnt get you to check it in different light we have the oppoiste problem in the salon where I work we have all Halogen lights and no natural lighting and people say it is to light I always say to people to see it in a different light I cant believe

Our nearest Toni and Guy has a very bad reputation as they only employ new qualified stylists as they can pay them much less

Thank you for the info. They were very busy today which is why I think they said about leaving it a week. No way was I moving!

I was so disappointed with them as I have been going on and off for years and always had fantastic results. The colour technician has been there for over 3 years and I have seen her before which is why I was so surprised with today. I wish I had insisted on viewing it under the halogens before they lightened it again

On the plus side I'm starting to get to like it and the back doesn't seem as dark as when I was in the shop. Oh, and Tim absolutely loves it!

It's a nightmare isn't it?! Glad you got sorted. I really like my hair now that I've got used to it and it has been washed. I'm being careful to cover it when I go on the sunbed so that I don't lighten it anymore.

Hey Rachel,

Thanks for the info. Someone told me it was like sleeping on a bag of Maltesers the first night! I'm going to keep them in for as long as I can after the wedding. I've got some lovely shampoo - Tigi Self Absorbed - which I was recommended to use and my hair really likes it so I'm taking that away with me.

I know - how close now?! I keep doing the 'this time in 2 weeks we'll be...' and driving everyone mad with it :rotfl:

In fact, this time in 2 weeks we will be getting the marriage license, going to have the suits fitted and then going into MK. It will be the first time my parents have been into MK and I can't wait to see their faces

They have ordered the 18" extensions so that I can get them cut and styled and still have the length. My own hair is just above bra strap level so the extensions will be longer but not down to my waist. I want to go for the Cheryl Cole look so need them long so they can take some curl. I have a tattoo on my back so these need to cover that at the top of the dress.

They are using the keratin glue on them so all looks good. I'm getting them fitted on Thursday night and as I work from home on Fridays it won't matter as much if i don't get a good nights sleep. Although, i reckon I'm going to be up all night just looking in the mirror at them :rotfl:

I have the shrinkies hair extension method. No glue used, and i really like them. I have them because my hair is really really fine.

Only tips are to make sure you platt your hair every night before you go to bed. The hairdresser will probably tell you to only wash your hair 3 times a week. I wash mine everyday and don't have any problems. Also might be handy to take some Dry shampoo with you.

I'll bet you can't stop touching your hair when it's been done! lol x

Brilliant, thank you :goodvibes I nearly bought some dry shampoo today but wasn't sure. I'll get some to take with me.

The salon told me that you get a really nice 'surfer chick' look by platting it and also it doesn't tangle overnight.

I'll have to post a before and after photo - I sould have done one before my hair was highlighted. It would have been a bit like the Ascent of Man picture :lmao:

So, Thursday night at 6pm i started having the extensions done and they finished just after midnight!

I absolutely love my hair :goodvibes The colour match is perfect and it is so long, but looks natural.

Here is the before and after:

I've got about 5 different colours running through.

It is starting to shed a bit today and tomorrow is wash day - it will probably look totally different by the time I have lost patience with it lol!

I feel the best I have felt in years. I've got a nice colour from the sunbed, killer hair and have gone from a UK size 18 to a 14. Oh yeah, AND I'M GETTING MARRIEDaT DISNEY!!

Wow, you're hair looks really good. I never really considered getting extensions, because my hair is pretty long, (probably similar length to yours with the extensions in) but it does start to get that really thing strangly look to the bottom of it, looking at your extensions, it looks like they'd stop that from happening, so I might start looking into them now!

Thank you all very much. It does look a bit heavy around the front but that was what I wanted. The wedding day style is going to be lots of waves so I wanted lots of hair at the front.

This how it looked when she had finished, and she had also pulled some of the hairfrom the back round to the front which makes it look heavier. I'm not selling this very well am I?!

Ah, I see what you mean. The more they put in the more heavy it looks so as long as they don't put too many in you should be fine :goodvibes

i've been a bad girl - I've not been on here for ages!

I've been meaning to do a TR for ages but don't have any pictures to post (still waiting for them from Randy) and am still battling with one of the vendors. I don't want to post any details until it is resolved.

I will be back, promise!
