Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to post to help Dana out. I'm still here until Friday at 5 PM. I can't wait for it to get here, but have far too much to do to get ready by then.
Leana: I'd really worry about running in a shirt you haven't run in before. I never ran in mine so I'm planning on having it for after the race. During the race I may print out the WISH logo and pin it to the back of my shirt so that all my WISH teammates can offer encouragement as they run past me.
Good luck getting thru the next couple days everyone.

Dana Thank you for your post and letting me know I am not alone. I was doing the EXACT same thing yesterday..... EXCEPT I'm not even running :confused3 We are going to cheer for 1/2 at TTR and Poly then mile 12 but we are getting up and driving to Epcot at 5. Actually DH keeps saying he is just going to ride with me to start, I try to tell him he needs to be there earlier and he says for what?? He hates standing around waiting at the start, especially since he will be by himself. Are you cheering by yourself or is fam coming. You could ride with us from ALL SS if you want?
Luckily I have been busy at work today. Speaking of, have to get back.:surfweb:

I have been leaning toward going to MS since it will be so early, I was worried about being stuck way in back and my kids not being able to see but if we go that early do you think we can get a decent spot.

Dana- I'm with you on waiting until the last minute to leave. It's the curse of living so close- sure we can go more often, but we never go for more than a 3 day weekend!
Leanna- I have rarely worn my WISH tanks. I have two- in theory I wore one to the ToT and one to Minnie (could have been the same one, what do I know?) I'm going to probably wear them anyway. It could end up being a bad idea, but so could many other things I'll be doing this weekend...
Sandy- maybe I should go check and see if I exist...;)
I just made it to Target- no cowbells, but I did get green pompoms and some green baskets for my family to carry wipes and tootsie pops in. I spent some time in the pharmacy section getting bandaids, vaseline, tylenol, etc. I just kept thinking we must all be crazy-- here I feel fine physically, but I expect to hurt like crazy by Sunday afternoon. :scared1:
I fluctuate between being completely terrified and completely euphoric. Is that normal?

So...um....I've never actually run in my WISH shirt.... By the time it arrived I needed colder gear. So am I just asking for a problem if I do wear it for the full?
Its cold here too (or was in December :rotfl2: ) but I wanted to make sure the tshirt was roomy enough to run in - so I took it for a treadmill run, its lighterweight than my usual running shirt - so it was actually better than what I usually run in!!
I also plan to do a "trial run" when we get to Disney either Thurs or Friday put on my gear and take a short lap around the Boardwalk and make any necessary changes!!
DANA how is your refresh page doing now??? :cutie:

Greeting Racing Team -
I'm not having the best of days. Not feeling very well and MAJORLY stressed from issues at home. SO not ready for this race.... :sad2:
I have five WISH posters but don't have time to make name badges. I'm really really sorry. :guilty:
I'm so sorry to hear about the accidents on I-4 last night but, well, I'm kinda wondering if the brush fires are anywhere near WDW. When I was there in May the smoke from he wildfires was awful at PC. :scared:
Anyway, See you all very soon. Travel safely. :goodvibes

Badges? do we need *stinkin* badges???
:rotfl2:
Sorry - I'm weird!! I'm sure we can make our own name tags - I was thinking of bringing my Lime Green Mickey Head and adding my name
OK I've decided - I am in denial!! IF I get myself off the computer, then I have to do something and then its all too real!!

Ooooohhhh... I hope you feel better soon Judy!! See you Friday....Have a Safe trip!!
Maybe I can come up with some name badge ideas before I leave...
I already have some sticky letters for everyone to use on their cowbells...or wherever :) We can have some crafting fun at POP!!

Hi Everyone-
Thank goodness Carrie asked us to keep the posts short!
I just had an idea for how to find people at the start when its still dark. Green glow in the dark necklaces. I was packing my goody bags for my team and had purple ones for their kids to wear at the pasta party. Then I thought about you guys and I was so mad I didn't think of this sooner.
A few years ago, I brought them to MK for my kids and their cousins. We passed them out as soon as it got dark and you'd have thought I was Santa Claus! I can not tell you how many people stopped and asked us where we got them. It helped us keep track of everyone too. I buy them when they go on sale at the dollar store 5 for $1.

DH and I always have (06 and 07). They don't open MK until ~6. Last year, they let us out at COntemp, as we could not get off at MK, either. We walked from there , got in line adn had no problem.

Hi Everyone!
I have my lime green Mickey Head with W.I.S.H., Dis, and Worfiedoodles on it. I tuck it into a clear badge bag around my neck. If you see me say "Hi"!
I have to go to Target one last time, so I'll be looking for the glow in the dark necklace. Great idea!

I want to pack tonight as Thursday have to take the dog to Vet and drop one of our cars off to get inspected while we are gone.
See everyone Friday at POP.

Allyson & Kira - :welcome:
Heather - Sorry to hear of the loss of you FIL:grouphug:
Judy - Feel better. :wizard: Don't stress on the name tags. We still have our from last year so we will bring them with us.
Didn't find any green cowbells at our local Target & I had Sean(DS) check at the Target near Babies R Us when they went there to register...no luck there either. I do have my cowbell & clapper from my band parent days so I am bringing them. :yay:
Time to finish packing & hopefully get some sleep tonight. We leave for the airport at 3:30am. :woohoo: Hope to see some of you at the expo Thursday afternoon & then see most everyone else Friday at POP.
Safe travels everyone!
Sometimes poster/ (mostly lurker) wanting to wish everyone luck. I've been following these threads for a year and they have given me the courage to keep going! No matter what I'll be at the starting line!
I'm leaving tomorrow morning and 4:00am. Went to home depot and got a couple to Green Mickey head to pin to my sleeves! (hope "alien green" was the right one :goodvibes )
Hopefully I'll meet some of you at the starting line of the 1/2 on Saturday.

BRING it anyway!! see what works best!!
GLOW STICKS can you carry them on the plane? We're not checking luggage (fingers crossed, its part of the plan, but dh is very flexible!!) I do believe we have a box in the garage left over from 4th of July!! I'll bring what I can - I dont think there are any yellow/green - 4th of July RED and BLUE!! But they're free! (I'm talking I have 50 of them, maybe more!! So I can trade glow sticks for a cow bell!! 5/1 trade?)

Sandy, your question about bringing glow sticks on the plane got me thinking. Anybody know if you can bring Clif Blocks on the plane? i have them in my carry on with the rest of my race gear. Maybe I will pack a couple more in my checked bag in case they get confiscated!
fan_of_small_world
01-09-2008, 04:30 PM
Sandy - I'm not sure you'd be allowed to take Glow Sticks in your carry-on, since they have liquid inside. You'd be better off packing them in checked luggage (that's what I did when we went to WDW 10/06). ETA: Should have read your whole post, lol. You can always give them a try, but you'd have to be ready to toss them if they won't let you take them in your carry-on.
Susan - I've never even seen one, but if they're less than 3 oz each, can you just pop them into your quart-sized ziplock bag?
Sandy321
01-09-2008, 04:30 PM
I just read the TSA website and gu etc is allowed as long as it fits in the 1 quart bag and is in the 3 ounce (3 - 1 -1 three ounces, 1 bag, per 1 person)
I'll throw in the gu I havent used!! I must remember to transfer my deodarant and lipstick in the 1 quart bag!

Cari - they look like jello shots but I think the package is more than 3 oz. I think I will just pack some extra in my checked bag. Worse come to worst I am sure I can pick up more at the Expo. Thanks!

Unless training consists of trying to cook 4 meals while doing 5 loads of laundry (why did we put the w/d upstairs?) then I think the answer is YES, you alone are still training. Enjoy your 2 day taper.
Jen- I don't know if the mood swings are normal or not but I am right there with you. Thank goodness I left so much to the last minute, I don't have time to think about the race. (yeah right, I am obsessed!)

No, the fires are closer to Lakeland and according to our news tonight, 90% contained. Unfortunately, 70 cars involved from 10 accidents and 4 people died. The smoke was combined with severe fog that made zero visibility. I4 still isn't open. They're hoping to open it by tomorrow morning. We can always use backroads to get to WDW if needed but we're glad to be waiting until mid-morning on Fri when any fog that might be there will likely have burned off.
Howard...I did 30 min on the TM tonight. Doesn't feel like training anymore when it's only 30 min :cool1:

UGH! Someone (actually more than one) decided to poke this sleeping lion (aka me in taper) today. No. 1 my hairdresser is MIA--so no haircut. She works for the gym and was doing me a favor. Okay, so not a huge deal, I would just workout in place of getting my haircut at the end of my shift. Well, at 3:45 (my shift is supposed to end at 3:30) I found out that no one was coming to relieve me until 5! The general manager was supposed to tell me earlier in the day, but she forgot:mad: And, now, that means I can't work out b/c employees aren't supposed to workout between 5 and 7 b/c it's prime time for members! To top it off, I had dinner in the crockpot assuming I would be home in time to turn it off--no such luck, so I had yummy dried up chicken for dinner! It's time for me to go on vacation!!!!! The only thing that saved me from not going postal on someone today was the fact that I'm leaving for my happy place tomorrow!
Okay, so need to go finish up the last minute packing and clean up my lovely dinner. We'll be landing at MCO around noon tomorrow-anyone else in that time frame hitching a ride on ME???

OK TOTALLY FREAKING OUT!!
I'm already not getting out of work as early as I was supposed to tomorrow (because my boss is an idiot and now I have to clean up his mess, OHHH did I just say that :rolleyes1 ) and now with the interstate being shut down I don't know how long it is going to take me to get there. DH and DS's will have to go to expo without me :headache: and I don't even know if I will make it in time for ressies at Whispering Canyon double :headache:
BTW - I have been to the gym every night this week, but I don't count because I am not running any races this weekend. :lmao:
IF anyone is going to expo Friday afternoon I will be working at AT booth handing out goodie bags ( after kids races before POP meet), stop by and say HI!!:wave2:

Howard- I ran an hour plus a strength session yesterday and 30 min plus a yoga session today so others are still training. Not as much as you but...
I'm all packed. Did it after coming back from my run this evening where it was 34 with the wind chill. I don't fly out of Portland until Fri morning but I'm driving down there immediately after work tomorrow. The B&B I'm staying in is 20 min the wrong direction so I packed tonight.

Training? Well, I read somewhere that any training you do now can't improve your overall fitness before the race, and you could injure yourself... oh, and I've packed my favorite shoes.:rolleyes1 I did walk every aisle at Target today because I was so excited to be there without my kids/DH! That had to be a couple of miles.;)
I think I need to re-pack my suitcase. It weighs a ton, and the handle on the tailgate thing on my SUV just broke. Would you believe I can't get into the back of my car now?! I'm going to try to have it fixed tomorrow, but otherwise I need to pack a million little bags that I can throw over the back seat... geez...

Actually, tons of stuff to get through today, so I wont' be here much. WISHing all of you who will be phsyicallly with us this weekend happy, uneventful travels! See you tomorrow afternoon! To all of you with us in spirit, thank you! And WISHing you a wonderful weekend. :grouphug:

Hi all!
Mel - I'm with ya! http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/spezial/jasons_smilie/rolleyes2.gif
I've been up since 5; at least I'm getting used to getting up earlier! I have to go waste a few hours at work this morning before I can finish getting ready.
Kids were supposed to stay with my dad, but he has to go out of town at the last minute so I spent last evening scrambling to arrange child/dog care for 6 days. We will divide and conquer; each one is going to a different household. At least it kept my mind off the marathon!
I'm very envious of all of you already on your way or even at WDW already! I WISH we could have made it a longer trip and gone up today. I'd love to get to the expo on the first day!
Kudos to those of you who got in some training this week; I've taken a major taper. Perhaps if I were still doing any running taper madness would not be quite so severe!
24 HOURS FROM NOW I'LL BE ON A PLANE HEADED FOR MCO!!!

If you're leaving during the rush hour, you will probably have a long trip ahead of you. I'm not sure how they are routing the I-4 commuters, but chances are things are going to be backed up. At least the fog won't be a problem.

Should we have **Big Vic** put out an APB to all WISHers at WDW. Do you think the brains could have escaped to the Great Movie Ride at MGM to hang with Dorothy, Scarecrow and company. For your sakes, I truly hope they don't end up on the side of the road with those socks that escape the dryer, but don't make it to sock heaven. Nyquil is the BEST! I've been taking it for the last week or so. When I started taking it, it was because I was feeling a little congested, but the last few nights, I've been trying to convince myself that I may feel a little congested just so I don't feel like a druggie taking it. ;)
But it does ROCK! It's like a liquid form of a sleeping pill. I'm guessing I should probably lay off it from now till the marathon because I'm sure it has some side effects that would hinder me come race day. Maybe I'll bring it will me to the starting line instead of water bottles. :thumbsup2

Was it at least a chocolate or smores flavored one in honor of an eclaire's frosting? Although, when it comes to PopTarts, I am partial to the frosted berry flavors. Its a good thing they went to eight packs too, because when having PopTarts as a meal, two was never enough, so then I'd have a third, but you can't leave one in an opened package. After four, its not worth having a box taking up space with only one little packet in it. Of course, all that rationalizing makes me the man I am today, a future distance/endurance athlete in the body of a two-gap, run stuffing nose-tackle.
Feel free to have an eclaire, baklava, Kitchen Sink, pint of guiness or anything else ON OR AFTER SUNDAY AFTERNOON. You can do it in my honor if you want to blame me (I can take it), but you are the one who will be deserving.

Just back a few days ago from our WDW NYE trip at VWL. I know I missed most of you and you're now down there, but I really wanted to say good luck to everyone! I can't wait to read all the trip reports and hopefully see lots of pics! DH and I plan on doing next year so I need pics of you awesome guys to inspire me! ;)
I'm now in week four of my half training. I was bad on our trip - I only ran once for three miles. We were down there when that incredible cold snap they had came through and I also caught a MONSTER head cold the second day we arrived. We were on the DDP and I ate a Mickey bar everyday I think... Now I'm paying the price and I've run some tough runs this week - totally taking all my effort. Anyway, I'm back watching my calories and hoping to lose this extra seven pounds I've acquired since the holidays started. :headache:
Again, good luck to all the WISHERS! I'm so excited for you guys! :woohoo:
