Just curious- Has anyone used their first points to stay anywhere other than a disney property? Our first offical trip home will be in October, however, we are using points for a short 4-night stay at a cabin at Big Cedar Lodge near Branson, MO during 4th of July weekend.

We used our first DVC points at The Jefferson in DC over the 2001 July 4th week. We had a wonderful time. We are going "home" to the BWV for the first time this summer. 170 days and counting!:D

We took our very first DVC point trip to Big Cedar Lodge also!!!! Last July as a matter of fact for three nights!

Ya know what???? We loved that place so much that we did a 100 point add-on as soon as we got home and we hadn't even stayed at Disney as a DVC-er yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So watch out, you'll get the bug big time there!

BTW...we did ANOTHER add on after our first trip to VWL in January. At this rate we'll OWN DVC! Hehehehehehehehehe!

It wasn't our first trip but our third and sixth were to Big Cedar Lodge on points. You will love it there. We love it so much we bought into their timeshare, Big Cedar Wilderness Club which is with BlueGreen. Same type of point system and low key as DVC. My only question is will DVC still be able to trade into Big Cedar much longer with the timeshare there.

Thru the concierge program we have stayed at the Sagamore on Lake George in NY and both Juniper Hill and the Equinox in VT. All three were wonderful.

We also went to Big Cedar and loved it there
We took the time sahre tour and fell in love with it also.
Unfortunatlely we dont have a money tree in our backyard, so we could not afford it.
We have traded out to go white water rafting and had a blast.
It was the trip of a lifetime.
We are going to Gatlinburg TN this summer, traded out for that also.

DH and I stayed at the Boston Harbor Hotel in Jan. for our 10th wedding anniversary. It was awesome. I'm sure we will get to Big Cedar Lodge at some point and time since we are only about 4 hours away.

OKWKirt, glad to see a fellow Kansas Citian that owns DVC!! Most people I talk to about it look at me like I'm crazy!

If it all works out, our first use of points will be for the Disney Cruise Line.
