I will rain on your parade as I am being buried by a blizzard with another wave of 2-3 feet coming in a few hrs. Nearby Reno is an ice field after 2 inches of rain in 24 hrs(over 1/4 of a years total) before turning to snow which added 12-16 inches of snow on top of that. Also nearby Fernley had a levy break(4:30am today) flooding 400 home and evacuating 4000 people with 3 ft deep water. The water that is washing into driveways freezing solid.
I want warm:beach:
I just hope to get out of here on Weds as they cancelled 40 flights yesterday and expect more today and tomorrow!

Wow, that's not good. I hope everyone is ok out there. Robert, how close are you to Fernley? I spent about 4 months out there back in 2000 when my company put in a conveyor system for Amazon.com. Actually, I didn't stay IN Fernley. We stayed in Reno, which was a nice hike to Fernley every morning.

We are in the Sierra Nevada mountains at Lake Tahoe. No flooding just feet and feet of snow.

The weather channel NEVER gets the weather right, so I've been checking the NOAA site, and it looks good to me. :thumbsup2 My DH deals in weather (on the side), and he said you can't trust anything more than three days out. So, that leaves us all down to the wire. Praying for no rain, although a little might not be bad because it would make the heat a little cooler. :)

I'm watching 3 different forecasts:
http://www.wesh.com
http://www.weather.com (using 32830 as the zip)
http://www.accuweather.com
None of them agree, but 7 days out is still a long time in winter weather here. Accuweather looks like they're predicting some cold front to come through Sunday, but the others don't.

Looks like I am nor going to have to worry about a cold weather race (phew!). Looks like the highs in the 70's.
Be aware though that the high is usually around 2 p.m. (give or take), so the mornings will still be cool.
I still remember 2 years ago when it was cold as !*&#^. Last year it was REAL warm. It would be nice if it were a happy middle this year.
Hydrate well ahead!

It's now saying high of 81 both days. The system behind will push through more quickly than anticipated and the highs will end up in the low 70's. That's my prediction.

Back in December a week out from my 50K, I was setting out all my cold weather gear, but by race day I dressed for highs in the mid 80s.
There is too much variability to the weather to depending on the forecast just yet, just keep watching.

I use NOAA's website (National Weather Services website) at http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?site=mlb&smap=1&textField1=28.53806&textField2=-81.37944 . It shows 70 & 20% rain Sat and 69 & 30% rain on Sun.

I just listened to a 7-day forecast from a Central Florida TV station. High in the high 70's/low 80's the next few days with a front (rain) moving into CF on Fri-Sat-Sun with temps in the 70's. After the front (and Marathon weekend), cooler weather - mid 60's. *sigh*

After looking at weather.com and accuweather this morning I have to wonder if they're forecasting for the same planet, much less same zip code.
Weather.com: thunder and low 80's
Accuweather: low 70's and few showers
I think I'll add NOAA to my list and really drive myself

Does anyone know what happens if there is thunder and lightening? DH is running the Goofy and we were wondering if they let the races go on, delay them, postpone them to another time, etc ???? what happens???

My 5K letter states it as this:
The race will be held rain or shine. If there is lightning in the area, however, the race will either have a delayed start or depending on the intensity of the weather, cancelled. The determination will be made by the Disney Sports Event staff.
The Walt Disney World Lightning Policy is as follows:
Event operations will shut down when lightning is 6 miles out from the event areas. Event operations will not resume until the lightning is 6 miles out moving away from the event areas. Sports Manager will determine this using the *Flash to Bang Rule* and weather radar. The Sports Manager will consult with the Theme Park and Resort Partners and Walt Disney World Security on a course of action to utilize the operational rain plan, delay the event, or cancel the event.
*Flash to Bang Rule* is applied by measuring the time (in seconds) between a visual lightning "Flash" and hearing the resulting "Bang". This time is then divided by a factor of "5" to obtain distance in miles. For example, 30 seconds between "Flash" and "Bang" divided by "5" equals 6 miles.
Hope that helps!

That reminds me - in Sept we were taking the boat from MGM to Epcot - - and had to pull under the bridge because of lightening - the boat was standing room only, it was hot, the windows didnt open - we sat under the bridge for about 20 min before getting the ok to move on -
Safety first - and now I am careful NOT to board the boat when there is inclement weather!!
