Neat idea...
What I did last year was deck out my window top to bottom in lime green, then I took several LGMH's and taped them to my door...along with 3 huge ones I had made myself. All my DIS friends were encouraged to write their screen name on the LGMH of their choice & then I had that for a keep sake. It was also fun to hear from everyone both there and here on the boards.

As of about an hour and a half ago, we're in! Yesterday DH e-mailed me at work to tell me Star Wars Weekends were going all the way through June so I teased him about booking a trip (four days after we get from Disneyland).

Guess it wasn't such a joke after all--when we saw prices on airfare and got decent quotes from lots of beautiful places at Windsor Hills, we just couldn't say no to another trip.

Look out for us June 27 to July 6--we'll be the exhausted family with a permanent smile etched on our faces from spending 20 days with the Mouse!

We are headed to the Wilderness Lodge on May 29th through June 8th. This will be our 13th trip but our first stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We are countin' down the days.

Our last two stays have been at the CBR and I decorated our window with Lime Green Mickey Heads. On one head, I wrote my user name "mickeystoontown" and then staggered three heads with each of our names on them, John, Lisa and Hunter.

I also made a Lime Green Mickey Head backpack tag. I wrote my user name i on it also and tied it with a bright green ribbon.

I was so disappointed when I didn't see any other Lime Green Mickeys, ribbon, etc.

Group of 14 family and friends -- 4 of them are children -- all boys (mine now 9 and 7 and two families with one son each, both now 8). Staying off site at Windsor Hills Resort -- so we can chill out and have a blast when we are not at Disney! We are soooo looking forward to it! I haven't been back since I was a teenager ... back in the early 80s ... which seems like a lifetime ago! Anyway, I'm an anal, retentive, planner queen and I'm addicted to the Dis boards!

I took my lime green Mickey heads and wrote my Dis name on it. Then I laminated it with the clear plastic stuff you get in the jewelry department or sports department at Wal-Mart. I punched a hole in the corner and tied it with a lime green ribbon. I then tied it to my backpack.

I also decorated our window with the lime green Mickey heads.

Going June 1-10, staying at the Contemporary with a fantastic conference rate. We're so excited! This will be our third June trip in a row.

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"]I know there is probably a thread...but can someone tell me about the Star Wars day??? Or is it Month??? My 10 yr old loves star wars. I havent said anything to him about it because I just don't know that much.

It's Star Wars Weekends, and there is a thread about it, but the gyst of it is that there are lots of Star Wars themed activities at MGM (or whatever it's called) Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in June. Don't miss the parade--it brought tears to my eyes the first time I saw it, being such a big fan. Your son will love Jedi Training and Star Wars trivia. Be sure to get their before opening so you can see the little stormtroopers show on the roof of the entrance.

Oh! And your son can be a Padawan in the parade!

We're in for 6/19th to the 25th at POFQ!! This time we're going with SIL. BIL and DN. It should be interesting, if not fun!

Is it too soon to start packing?

I want to pack and shop now!!!:thumbsup2

We are also going with my SIL and her DD. We are trying to decide on what character dining experience we should choose for a lunch one day: 1900 Park Fare (we've done that one already), Royal Table, or the Princess Storybook.

Who has made ADRs? What day and where?????

Ours so far are:

Friday, June 13th (didn't even realize this was Friday the 13th!) - our arrival night - Chef Mickey @ 7:30 (a tradition before really starting the parks!)

Monday, June 16th - Perfect Princess Tea Party at GF (total splurge for my little princesses!)

Thursday, June 19th - Akerhaus Princess Storybook lunch @ 1:25

We're not big on breakfast and just grab something quick before heading to the parks. Still debating on a few other places....

Have you been to the Princess Storybook lunch before? We are contemplating it. That's funny because we were considering eating there on June 18 or 19th!

I just realized that Father's Day is on the 15th, our first day at WDW. Do you know if they do anything special for Dads on this day?
Unless I am mistaken, no they really don't. You might be able to buy a special Disney Dad shirt, but it will be on your shoulders to do it. We are going to be there during Fathers day too and I made sure that my DH was able to pick our dinner that day and I will pack him a gift that the kids can give him that morning and we will do just little things for him...kinda let him lead for the day. They may have buttons you can get but I would not expect it.

Count us in for June 2008! I just booked the trip this week, specifically for Star Wars Weekends. (For some reason I can't find the thread about that, despite using the search function here . . . if anyone can send me the link, I'd appreciate it.) It's just DS11 and me. We always have a great time on our mother-son trips, and we're both SW geeks. :ewok: :chewy: :yoda:

It's gonna be an odd trip, cobbled together with hotel rewards points and frequent flier miles. We'll be staying at 3-4 different offsite hotels, but at least they're all pretty close (mostly Lake Buena Vista. One night will be at the Nick Hotel, which we've enjoyed before; it'll be nice to have a little extra room in the middle of the trip.

DS doesn't know about the trip yet, but I'm hesitant to join the Keepers of the Secret thread again . . . I always spill the beans well before the trip! But I am hoping to do some sort of fun reveal, even if it's months in advance.

If I had my choice, I'd stay at POP and go for a month! Funny, AKL was my last preference of the 3 resorts and I have to say I had a hard time justifying the cost of the Savannah view room. We are doing a big Grand Gatherings trip for my MIL 70th b-day. We told her the hotels were her choices and it has always been her dream to stay at AKL with SV. Because of the cost we opted to stay only 2 nights. We'll be paying this off for quite a while :) I just hope we can actually see some animals close up to make it worth it.
We stopped over at CSR when we were there in Oct. It was the first time we were ever there. It looks pretty nice...we loved their food court!!

I am not from TX, BUT southwest airlines does not pull up on travel search engines . .and they almost always have a deals on trips, especially to orlando. I didn't know your dates, but I searched and pulled up 5 people from Houston to Orlando for about $1100 RT (approx. $99 one way per person). It doesn't save you a ton, but hey $400 dollars more that you can spend somewhere else.

My family and I are staying at POP May 31-June 5. It'll be me, my BFF, my dad (all first timers), my DSis, DBIL, and 2 nieces. Thankfully, DSis and family are experienced WDW-goers. While there, we will be celebrating my BFF's 30th, DSis's 40th, and dad's 70th!

We are all on the DDP. We have a few ADR's - Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package, Yak & Yeti, Crystal Palace, and Le Cellier.

MouseEarsForLife, what restaurants do you have ADR's for?

I got
Yak and Yeti
50's Prime Time Cafe (chose this because someone in our party will be celebrating his 50th birthday!)
The Plaza Restaurant
Tony's Town Square
Coral Reef
California Grill
Les Chefs de France (may change though; this was the only one I didn't get a time I wanted)
Considering the rest of my family avoids plans and such like the plague, I was rather happy with what I got (calling at 109 days out):yay:
I'm also trying for a Lunch with an Imagineer but that's 60 days out.:wizard:
(Side note: to some, this may seem like overkill[and to others not enough!]; but my family is sadly firm believers in the "once in a lifetime" vacation. I managed to sneak in another one though!)

We go to WDW every year and I have a "We are going to Walt Disney World" box that stays in our closet. Every time I see little things I know we are going to need, I buy them and put them in our box.

Right now is a good time to buy the small handheld mister fans. Wal-Mart has them and they are about the size of a cassette tape (old school kind not the mini ones). I love those because they have a clip on them and I can clip it to my son's belt. Best of all, they were on clearance since it's still Winter time.

I also stopped by the local dollars store and picked up a couple of the mesh laundry bags. They are perfect to put dirty clothes in. I bring along large trash bags. When we are ready to leave, I put the mesh laundry bag down inside the trash bag, tie it up and smoosh it into the suitcase. Whey the trash bag? It keeps the dirty clothes smells inside.

I also hit our local Target but most of the stuff they had was for smaller kids and our son is 10 so he's sooo not into "little kid stuff".

Ordered our park tickets from undercover tourist- so they're paid for.

Haven't even THOUGHT about ADRs (good grief!) Dh said "Where ever you want to eat is fine..." a little input would be nice, but oh well.

Now we're looking at car rental prices and what size we need.

Oh, and now we need a hotel because we're going up on the 13th- a day early because flight prices were that much difference between Friday and Saturday!

I told Hunter(ds) that we'd make a chain starting at the 50 day mark. I was afraid if I made it for longer than that, he'd loose interest.

Yesterday I got in a grab bag of 25 trading pins I had ordered. Guess what the Easter bunny will be hiding in the Easter eggs?!!

Will look for you at OKW. I bought Lime green tissue paper (on sale .50 a pack) to put in windows. Have my tags ready. Look for my window! Also told DH & DD if anyone gives them the look or says hi, let me know.

OK, we'll look too! I have to start getting prepared with my lime green tags! Do you think DH will think I'm crazy???

Since we are all planning and shopping it seems, why don;t we start sharing any good deals we find?

Free shipping on shoes and bags at shoebuy.com (http://shoebuy.com) - They have Crocs, baggalini and overland bags For the shoes, its free return shipping too, if they don't fit.

We stopped buy the dollar tree and ours right now has glow necklaces, bracelets and sticks, several in a pack for one dollar.

Walmart carries the All small and Mighty travel bottles in their travel section. one small bottle does 3 loads.

We got clearanced travel space bags at Bed bath and Beyond for $3

Sears and Carsons has luggage on sale right now. As well as some good deals at Walmart.com

I have more and will return! heheheh

I'm starting to get a little nervous about going in June. I've read some posts that pretty much say June is a nightmare. I know it is going to be VERY hot so I'm prepared for that. Does anyone know what the crowd levels will be like? We have been there before during President's week, how does it compare to that?

We were there the first week of June last year and it was fine - yes, it was hot, but just make sure you spend some time in A/C and stay hydrated and you will be fine. As for crowds, the only time we thought they were really bad was at DHS (MGM then) because of Star Wars Weekends. A few days they did get crowded here and there, but then you know it's just time for break or to move to another part of the park.

I wouldn't worry about it - I've been there Easter week, and it is NOTHING compared to that! ;)

We will be there the 15th-20th, so I wonder how bad the crowds will be then. The last time we went to WDW was during the week of Valentine's Day. Actually, Valentine's Day was our last day at WDW. The crowds were not bad at all. We waited no more than 15 minutes for a ride. The longest rides were POTC and HM.

Thanks...we usually make good use of fast pass so I'm hoping it will be managable. We definitely plan on going back to the hotel in the afternoon for lunch and swimming. I get so excited for our trips so I like to be prepared for what to expect so I'm not disappointed when we get there :)

I have to concur with what has been said . . . go back to the hotel in the afternoon and use the pool or take a nap to re-energize. You avoid the hottest part of the day this way.

on a side note: We are now doing the double digit dance :cool1: 99 days to go and counting!:woohoo:

We haven't been since 2004 either! And now since our kids are bigger, we should be able to ride everything this time! Plus, we no longer have to push one of the rented strollers around the parks! Well, perhaps we will get one anyway - someone might need to push me around! :lmao:
