Just a quick question, we are considering puchasing DVC and would like to get a Grand Villa at OKW in August. We're looking at 2 packages, one has a home of Vero and other OKW. I know the 11 mo window is past, and we'd probably not need GV more than 2-3 more times before 2042. Any thoughts/suggestions on what to do? How could I (a non owner right now) fin out if a GV is even available at OKW (or anywhere at the World) in August?
Thanks so much!:smooth:

You really never know until you call what will be available. If you called today and they said a GV was available, chances are when you called back in two or three days it would be gone. On the other hand, the same thing could happen in reverse. There really isn't anything to tell you except you'll be taking your chances for this August whichever package you buy.

If you intend to stay at WDW most of the time, buying VB probably isn't a good idea.

August is still one of the higher point seasons, your chances are better than most times of year.

Agreed - and buying resale you'll have to wait longer to make reservations than via Disney. I've done both, so no knock to either.

You just have to wait for the entire closing and for you to be entered into the DVC computer system, which typically takes about 6 weeks, before you can make a reservation. So you could check now, but as Pam says, there's no guarantee it would still be available by the time you could reserve. I would suggest having the current owners make the reservation for you, but I hear they now expunge ALL reservations when the contract is sold, even if the current owner asks them not to. I could be wrong - they might make an exception - but I wouldn't base my purchase decision on whether it's available.

On the other hand, August isn't too busy a time, so you would likely be able to get a two bedroom and a studio, which would accomodate the same number of guests. It's a good backup in any case, if the GV isn't available.
