Just back from OKW ...

We - DH, DD (22), and I - returned last night from 6 nights in a one-bedroom at OKW. This was our 20th stay at OKW since 1993. After having read some of the concerns expressed here over the last few months, I was a little apprehensive about what we'd find, but couldn't have been more pleased. We were in building 35, Turtle Pond area. The unit was clean, everything was in working order, and there were not the usual scuff marks on the walls. The only thing we experienced that matched what some others have said was that we did not receive "trash and tidy" service. I didn't call, because it wasn't that big of a deal to us - we had enough soap and I wash the towels myself.

I was also apprehensive about the homogenization of the restaurants because of the dining plan. We were not on the plan. We ate at Sci Fi, Rose and Crown, Liberty Tree Tavern, Spoodles, and Olivia's 3 times. I didn't notice much change in the menus, and, except for one instance at Olivia's, service was very good.

Just wanted to let you all know that there's still some magic to be experienced.

That is good news. We have not stayed there yet, but are thinking of trying is out this summer. We have some friends that live in Florida and were thinking of a non-park vacation place to stay. We thought OKW would fit the bill. One thing I that does scare me a bit is the size of the 2BR. I am worried I won't be able to stay in the 2BR anywhere else after we try it.

That's a likely scenario too! We LOVE the space in the OKW 2 bedroom!

Congratulations on your 20t OKW stay! DW and I had our first OKW stay and our first DVC stay last year. We absolutely loced it!

I had also read some of the concerns before our trip. WE could not have been happier.

I know that next to AKV, our home, OKW will be our next most frequent destination.

...about the 2 BR villas at OKW is that I need more points to reserve one than I do for a 1 BR villa.

My DD's have outgrown the sleep sofa..............

Glad you had a good stay at OKW. We own at SSR but have stayed at OKW more than anywhere else. We enjoy it there so much.
