great idea. i have to say i would hate the roof views the most!

noticed no boardwalk inn rooms. anyone have a bad view here? i've stayed here 5 times, 4 of those were standard garden views, all very pretty views.

I'd have been camped in the hall way until they removed that spider!

Me too!

Maybe it's time for Disney Resorts to trim back some of the trees and bushes that sit directly in front of a balcony or window.

We had one of the white gravel rooftop views at the BC once, but the light bouncing off was so bright the curtains had to be closed or it hurt our eyes -after an afternoon we requested a room change. We lost our full balcony, but we had a nice inner courtyard view.

I'm going to WDW for the first time next month. I am so looking forward to taking photos that I will be able to contribute to different threads on DISboards.

This particular thread is NOT one I want to be contributing to!

But I must admit, it is an enjoyable read!

We've had rooftop view at BC in the past. Didn't complain, standard view is what it is. This summer, booked BC. We were in a corner room, you could see the pool looking off to the left. HUGE balcony - that was great! However, every day of hearing kid karaoke, etc. at the pool got old. They had the speakers cranked. I'm no fuddy duddy, I have a 12 year old and a 3 year old, but try getting a 3 year old to nap with the music blasting not easy. Didn't ask to be moved - the rest of our family were in 2 rooms close to us so we didn't want to be separated. When we were send a survey card I did respond and told them they may want to turn down the speakers a smidge due to napping kids. Man, I sound like my mom, but I swear I'm not THAT old!!!

couldn't find a picture, but we stayed at the Dolphin, which I do love, but we were in an end room near the peak and when we opened the curtian on the window we looked smack at a brick wall! they did move us and the bell man said he really never understood why they made it a guest room, it was a conference room for the longest time...:)

The room was at the point where the buses turn around to go back the other way. The noise was just wonderful in the early morning.

We didn't even have to pay extra for this waterview. I wish I remember what the room number was. Country Building - 3rd floor farthest possible room at the back of the resort - with the free SWAMP view!

In the Values, you don't pay for view, you pay for location. (Usually the buildings near the front). So, you could have a parking lot view in a preferred building!!!!

Coming across this thread again reminded me of the horrible incident we had at AKL in 2002. Sorry no pictures of the rooms we were assigned but it was a nightmare!

We originally had a teacher discount room booked at the Swan for Easter week but when I got my first and only PIN CODE in the mail I quickly booked a savannah room at the AKL. Excitedly we checked in and were shown to Room 2212. I opened the drapes only to see the Sunset Savannah, yes, but also tall ugly doors to the air conditioning units, in other words, the entire wall that backs the Front Desk area. It was enormous and very distracting and immediately asked to be changed to another bunk bed room since we had two teenage boys with us. Little did I know that we probably would have been better off in this room which would have been quieter and closer to everything than where they moved us.

We ended up in 4548 which was quiet inside the room but we are balcony people and using the balcony was almost impossible due to all the cell phone conversations on balconies around us, day and night. Parents sent their screaming children out to the balcony to have temper tantrums. There were rows and rows of balconies around us; more than any I've seen at any other deluxe resort. Almost no animals came out ever and our savannah view included billboards and a 4 lane highway! Add in some CM problems and even at a discount rate the whole experience was horrible.

I wrote a carefully worded letter to Disney Guest Services and they responded appropriately for the situation but it took me another three years to convince DH to return to WDW!

What awful OKW views. When we stay at other DVC resorts, we request a room on the third floor or higher which usually helps. At least you can't reach out and touch the air conditioning unit.

Our balcony looked straight into a drainage zone. You could see some of the savannah if you stood on a chair...

It was - and, in fairness, it was partly my fault we ended up with this room. Our room was not ready when we checked in and this was the only one available. My husband and I wanted to go ahead and head out to the parks, so we went with it. This room was right above the front desk, facing the Sunset Savannah.

Bell services can take all of your stuff so that you don't have to keep up with it. I know it might be a pain to take your purse into the parks. I either leave mine at home or lock it in the trunk of my car.

Great thread!!!!:)I have been lucky and have had ok views from my rooms (I haven't paid for good views though). I did get upgraded to a savanna room at AKL which after seeing these pics makes me happy I got soem pixie dust :wizard:. Some of these views are absolutely horrible and to think they are in Deluxe resorts...I am not one to complain ever because lets face it Disney is the best place on earth:love:, but I would have to if I got stuck looking at the top of a roof or a maintence crew!
God bless you all for putting up with those views!!!

I agree, I'm a previous poster (Dolphin dumpster view) and I've really only had that one bad view. Heading back to The Dolphin next week, hoping for the best but not expecting much. The hotel is sold out for a CRM conference so no chance of a Starwood upgrade. Bummer!

Yes I know we were at a value (POP), but I thought I could qualify with this. We really didn't care because we are park commando's and spend very little time in the room. ;)

Taken from my TR:::::

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33942569&postcount=55

We found our room 6348. It was a third floor room in the 70's section facing the lake right across from the ice-machine and next to the elevators. I had requested a 60's 4th floor room facing Epcot. Oh well, we didn't get what I wanted but honestly I didn't care. I was just happy to be at POP! Here is our great view from the door of our room. Maybe I can enter this into the worst room view thread?

Thanks for that POP pic! Every time we see those rooms at POP we always comment on the poor guests who get stuck with that view. I'd have to ask to be moved. Why and earth doesn't the resort trim those trees..and what were they thinking when the trees were planted??

The worst view we ever had was our first stay at the Polynesian in 1982 - a 1st floor with bushes covering the entire patio - it was creepy.

We stayed at POP in December. Didn't have much of a view other than bushes, but it didn't really matter since there was no balcony. We usually kept the sheers over the window just for some privacy, but honestly we were not there enough during the day to worry about a view. And despite being a Value resort, we really enjoyed it and had no huge complaints.

We are returning (without kids or grandkids) to WDW for our first visit to POR in April, and we'll see how it goes there.:)

It is a little weird that they let those trees grow right next to the walkways. It does obscure the view. :confused3

Seeing how Disney usually is so strict about hiding backstage areas it's surprising how they have such views at some of their resorts. Especially the loading dock at WL.

Maybe they should add a new view category, "Backstage View" and charge even more. Hey, it works for the backstage tour, were you get to see some pretty rundown areas as well, but there you are not allowed to take pictures... :-)

Yes, you're right, the Swan/Dolphin view is a bad one. I guess the thing about the #35 Wilderness Lodge view that really stands out, is, that while all the other views are just plain horrid views, #35 has a Twilight Zone Outer Limits Vertigo quality about it that no one ever knew existed until it was brought out in this thread. And for that reason, I think it is the most unique worst view in a Disney World resort. Yep, it's a doozy.

I'm the OP that had the dumpster area/loading docks view behind the Dolphin. DH checked into the Dolphin today for a conference, and since the hotel is sold out I wasn't expecting any view or upgrade, but held my breath when he called this afternoon. I said "what do you see when you look out the window?" He said "I'm on the balcony now & see that ball over in Epcot. The guy at the front desk gave me a Starwood Gold upgrade to fireworks view." I'm heading to WL in 30 days and thanks to this thread i'm pretty realistic about my view. I booked standard view and as long as I don't get the one in post #35 i'm okay. If I do get that one I'm going straight to the front desk and begging to be moved.

I've paid in the past for a view and realize I'm just not in the room enough. Or if I am i'm too tired or busy preparing for the next day to enjoy the view. I'm also not a very lucky person so I'm not anticipating any upgrade.

Looking at the CR on Google Maps the way it was built there aren't any really bad views of the dumpster variety. The worst might be a parking lot view at the South Garden Wing or maybe looking out towards the roof of the convention center if you are in a lower floor at the south end of the main building.

I was assigned that same WL view when I took a quick trip with just me and the kids. The kicker? I had paid for a courtyard view! I complained and was reassigned, and the CM told me they only sell that room as a courtyard view when they're really booked but it really is standard.

The second room they sent me to was occupied. I've never been back to te WL.

Here is ours!
We had one of the very few "bad" views at the Poly a few years ago.
Tuvalu room 2401 Garden view. Looks directly at the end of Fiji, stairwell, entrances and all. We were staying for a week, so no way was this view going to cut it!!!

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h319/reefherbie/Tuvalu24010001.jpg?t=1271896758

We checked into the room, looked out the patio doors (note: no Patio, or bacony, just doors!), took a picture, and promptly went down to the front desk to get our room switched! CM gave us a bit of a hard time, because we went into the room first, then asked to be switched (duh!). They eventually gave in when I got a manager involved. They put us in a 3rd floor room overlooking the "boat" lagoon, volcano pool, and Ohanas. That was a great room/view !!! Here is a picture of the "new" room. It was Fiji 3311 Garden view.

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h319/reefherbie/Fiji33110001.jpg?t=1271896823

I would have to agree about the Tuvalu garden view being the worst on property. We stayed in Tuvalu but with TPV and it was amazing, but every time we walked into the building, I felt bad for anyone who had a garden view. Very congested with overgrown branches everywhere...:sad2: Glad you got an "upgrade" to Fiji....definitely the best garden view on property IMO! :thumbsup2

OK, here is our "Water View" at POR, in Magnolia Terrace, Room 8920:

http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu197/mprause/8920.jpg

I can understand that at one point that WAS a water view, big beautiful trees completely blocking it now.

Luckily, it didn't compare with our neighbor on the left, this was their view:

I know this is the WDW message board, but one time at DL in the GCH we were in a theme park view, and there were so many trees blocking our view we couldn't see any of the park.. its not like the park is something so small to see. I do not remember the room number, but it would be in the corner where the two theme park wings meet.

Terrible experience switching rooms. It wasn't a problem to get out of it, but there were not any other rooms available. Then when we get the text that a room is ready, it wasn't cleaned. No managers would come talk to us... the front desk CMs kept going to a back room, like at a car dealership. Since our time was wasted all afternoon, there solution to fixing it was two fastpasses to any ride (besides Toy Story Mania). Get another text that the room was ready, still not cleaned. I keep calling about every 20 minutes, and keep hearing that someone is on their way. At 6pm I talk to a CM, who says that housekeeping has left for the day. I was so mad I hung up the phone. Immediately call back, and talk to CM Jason, who sends a housekeeper and their manager, and calls back in a few minutes to tell us they are on their way, and calls back again to make sure they arrived. We went to eat downstairs, and when we came back in an hour they were still cleaning the room.

I'm heading to WL in 30 days and thanks to this thread i'm pretty realistic about my view.

Well we are back! I did not get that room but darn close. We were in 4091. The upside is, it was ready for early check in and right outside our room was a door to a large balcony where the kids went to practice with their lightsabers! The room view was pretty bad, we had an enclosed balcony. I had requested 2x my TA ask for a high floor northside but I don't think she bothered.

I'll be writting a trip report and posting pics. I can honestly say we didn't care at all about the bad view. We loved the resort overall. The room was small and not at all what I consider deluxe but the property was amazing. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

For those of you wondering about the standard view, if it really matters don't risk it. There are some bad views on the 4th floor. But if you want to save money and still be in a deluxe resort seriously consider how little time you'll spend in the room. Sure having coffee on the balcony is nice but do you really do that? I was sure the answer would have been yes but once in Disney I had so many other things I wanted to do and see that never crossed my mind.
OK, here is our "Water View" at POR, in Magnolia Terrace, Room 8920:

http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu197/mprause/8920.jpg

I can understand that at one point that WAS a water view, big beautiful trees completely blocking it now.

...we had the same room or extremely close to... the only upside is that we paid for a standard/2 full size beds...and got upgraded to the "waterview" kingsize bed. i dont think i would ahve been too happy if i had actually paid for it

You poor thing, that is so miserable. :sad1:
Did they not offer to move you to a room where you could actually enjoy sitting on your balcony?
We were in a one bed in that area and if you looked out of the side window of the sitting area that was the view we had. We just shut the blinds and thankfully the view from the main balcony looked over the water.

Agreed! It was not what I pictured for the Poly, but I made up for it this year when I stayed TPV at the Poly and had the room of my dreams! The worst room views at the Poly were the other side of TUvalu facing Fiji...I'd take my tree view over those views any day!

OMG that was our view!!! Walked in, walked right back out & down to the front desk. Sorry, no comp upgrades so we paid for a woods view. Instead of looking at the dumpster, we got the 6th floor so the balcony was IN a dumpster!!! Great castle view but you had to stand to see it. Mgr did end up comping the upgrade though so I guess I can't complain!

Oh Gosh! This pics are making me nervous. We are staying at the Poly for a week in Jan for the Marathon. Our running group (for a charity) got a rate of $179 a night. At first I was overjoyed, but after seeing these pics we will probably be put out in the parking lot next to 20 HVAC units:mad:

We are definitely not getting first rate views for that price. Here's hoping for the best!

FWIW, we thought we had a horrible view when we stayed at WL in April 2008. We had a "woods view" which consisted of some woods and mostly parking lotfrom our balcony. But much to our surprise, that night we were able to see Wishes fireworks in the distance almost clearly, despite a few random branches here and here... Hilarious thread! I've never had a bad view, but I've booked a standard at BC for August, so I could very well be back here posting after our trip. We had a water view at POR this past summer and i swear I don't think I looked out the window once! We wanted to do BC this trip, but a beter view wasn't in the budget, so I'm hoping for a nice rooftop or parking lot and not the dumpsters! We'll see!

I wish we were actually upgraded. It was still garden view, not concierge or anything. :( The front desk clerk lied! :headache: I think *if* we ever do the Poly again, we'll definitely book at least lagoon view. I wish we got to enjoy the rest of the resort, it was soooo cold during our trip, we were in our room by 8:00. I think that if it were warmer and we could keep the balcony door open, it would have been nice to feel the breeze and not have everyone see in. Maybe. If we had a better view and a little privacy that would have been ideal! Oh well.. no more room requesting for me!

Disney really needs to have a recent look at it's "views" now that the trees have been growing for several years at the newer (and older!) resorts.

Several years ago we booked a water view at Riverside - when we found our room, we were delighted to find it was corner room in bldg 14, just steps from the food court, bus stop etc. It wasn't until we were all settled in and leaving for the rest of the day when we realized there was no water to be seen - other than the rain. We stepped outside looked around for water and only then noticed that if the wind blew, the pine trees would move a bit and if we looked very carefully, we could see a sliver of the river. Next morning spoke with a front desk manager who changed our rate to std view. :)

It amazes me at how many deluxe resorts are mentioned in this thread. For the amount of money that you pay for deluxe, I don't care if they call it a standard view or the super-ultra-impressive-water-fireworks-castle-Epcot view, you should get something better than some of these views.

When we first visited WDW in 1981 we began making twice yearly visits, alternating between CR and the Polynesian - we never had a bad view. When new resorts came along (BC/YC BWI. then WL and AKL) I was very surprised by so many reports of truly awful views. Although some DISers will say they are never in the room and the view doesn't matter - many of us do enjoy a nice view and it's part of our vacation - no matter the level of resort.

Disney managed to build CR & Poly without views of a dumpster or loading dock, so why not every resort?

This is true of a lot of snazzy hotels outside WDW, and I think it's because the look of the building is so important. If you're going to build a big, complex building that's pleasing to the eye on the outside, there will usually be a few areas where they want to tuck a room rather than waste the space that won't be able to see much but rooftop or whatever.

True also of trimming trees. If the landscaping is a big part of the appeal and you want the area to look lush, you're not as likely to trim trees back so people can see out of the rooms. Cutting the tree back to clear the view would make the building as a whole less visually appealing, so they don't do it. If the buildings were mansions, they'd stuff the servants back there. Since they're hotels, it's some of the paying guests who get the crumby rooms.

Of course, most grand hotels, those would be the discounted rooms. What would annoy me is that some of the WDW rooms with terrible views are supposed upgrades -- that's just wrong. :sad2:

I've not had a really bad view at POR, but we stayed on the back side of building 17 in AB last year and it was inconvenient to everything!

It was a long haul to the food court, the busses, everything. I take that back we were fairly convenient to the laundry room that we didn't use. I think it was an ok distance to a pool, but we don't swim.

Of course, most grand hotels, those would be the discounted rooms. What would annoy me is that some of the WDW rooms with terrible views are supposed upgrades -- that's just wrong. :sad2:

I agree with everything said here.:thumbsup2

a very good room with a view.....the front desk tried to push us to stay saying it would take time to get bellhop to get to the room and we may end up having to wait until 3pm to get a new room (it was like 11am when this occured) but i said no biggie, we can bring our luggage down ourselves (we had already brought it up on our own) and head to the park! so we did, and i think i got a text that our room was ready around 230....sooo on to the new room ( i posted this on the best view thread)

this is just one of the views, we could also see space mountain, a tiny bit of thunder, the front ticket entrance and front part of the railroad, bay lake towers, contemporary, narcooses and the boat launch for the GF.

This is a paid theme park view, non theme park views you could see contemporary (i think) but mostly just the GF marina, pools or the poly (faciing the opposite of the MK). I paid for it because it was my honeymoon and ill never be able to afford the GF again....to me it was totally worth it to be able to see tthe castle and the fireworks at night

I can't possibly be the only one who thinks Disney seriously need to get some employees (preferably those with a bit of clout ;)) to walk around parks and resorts from time to time and note how trees in some areas have obscured the views. There are certain packages which give guests 'preferred' viewing for fireworks at MK and Epcot. Not to start a new topic, but we know the MK one gives you NO VIEW .... because of the trees in the way. There are so many examples of this, both at resorts and in the parks. I really wish they would accept that trees GROW over time :rolleyes1

I was looking at another site, who has been comparing older pictures to how things look today. I'm sad to say, but the beautiful tall trees hurt the look. For example, the castle used to look much larger than it does now. The trees throw off the scale, and gets in the way.

Know what you mean - have been thinking/saying this for years. Most guests never complain so unless the guests who pay for a view do not complain and explain why whenthey get one of these ridiculous views, not sure Disney will ever do a thing. We paid for a water view one year - the only water we saw was rain until it got very windy, the pine trees moved and we saw a sliver of the river. We spoke with a manager and she changed our room charge to standard view - the trees are still there and 5 years taller. :sad2:

I hate to say it, but you should be scared IMO. Out of all the resorts, I personally think Yacht and Beach are the absolute worst when it comes to getting a decent view. Within each room category is too much variation, so one water view could be an amazing view of the Boardwalk with a full balcony, while another has a tiny standing balcony that looks at trees and rooftop with a small glimmer of the pool (which is noisy and distracting anyway - lake and pool should be separate categories, IMO).

At least at the Poly, all of the garden view rooms have lots of foliage in front of them, even if they're facing the parking lot, and the vast majority of lagoon view rooms face north toward the Seven Seas Lagoon. CR's tower rooms all offer consistent views, either of Bay Lake or MK. I've never gotten a bad view at GF - even my garden view that overlooked the rooftop of a pool bar was better than that monstrosity of a water view at Beach Club. And so on.

My experiences at Beach Club have repeatedly taken a negative turn, and the resort has done little to change that impression. It's the reason I added the frowning face to my signature. :)

Sorry to hear that. IMO, YC and BC also have the worst concierge lounges. I mean, really, a terrible view of the parking lot? (Or in Beach Club's case, the parking lot and the villa structure?) Plus, the lounges are tiny. Royal Palm Club at GF has three marvelous floors of space overlooking the lobby, and there are a few vantage points where you can see the Castle from the lounge. Poly also has a spacious lounge with an excellent view. CR's is smaller but still has the view. AKL's lounge overlooks the lobby, and there's a small balcony to look at the pool. Boardwalk's lounge overlooks the garden, and you can see some of World Showcase from it. And Wilderness Lodge overlooks and lobby and has little windows that you can see the lake from. YC and BC have nothing on the other CL's, except hard boiled eggs for breakfast, and that's nothing compared to GF's meats and cheese.

I was reading through the thread and was thinking maybe Disney should do a "value view" room category that has the rooms with the worst views in it. Hopefully do a nice discount, but with the trade off the you can't get your room changed just because of a bad view. Your idea about a "Backstage View" sounds like interesting way to try and get more money for those rooms that show backstage areas.

This was an AKL pool view from last year. It was during the refurb of the pool. I rarely complain about anything but upon seeing our balcony view I went straight down to the desk and said '' I realize I paid for a pool view and that the pool is being refurbed but even if I wanted to see the pool I can't because there's a big honkin tree right outside my balcony''. The CM was good enough to move us to a Savannah view the next day for the rest of the trip.

Having seen this thread I am now going to check on here first to see what to request NOT to get if I pay for preferred views :headache: So does the 'roof' view fall into a particular category? I would suggest it be eligible for a 'discount view category' but Disney don't do that :rolleyes1 You're right Shalom, there are quite a few rooms there and I would think that there are also plenty alongside the room from which the pic you quoted was taken!

We've had our hits and misses at our stays!

Worst experience is probably when we got to the All Star Resort(i forget which one) and we had cockroaches in our room :scared1: I flipped, and we all went to the lobby, and got transfered to the Contemporary Resort that day.

Next would have to be when the whole family, me, dh, dd, dd, and dd, were staying at the Contemporary Resort, and i go to tuck in my youngest dd, who was about 3 at the time, and there was a man, or possibly a woman's , back hair all in the sheets. We got a free night stay after that one.

Last Summer we booked the Dolphin, and we got to the room to see several mishaps! There was hair in the shower, blood on the sheets, and the fridge needed an extension cord to be plugged in?! I sent DH to the lobby PRONTO. We got switched to a double balcony :cool1:

It's quite ironic that Disney can't come up with a creative way of turning these functional, but very unsightly views into something more aesthetically appealing :rolleyes1 They do it in the parks. So why not at the resorts, which generally cost more per day than the average park entry for the family.

Or at the very least, offer a new category of rooms targeted at the die-hard commando guests who are never in their room except to sleep because they spend their entire trip tearing up the parks.

Not sure why you are questioning me. The thread is "worst room views". Yes, I booked a standard but on check-out day, my bill showed "courtyard view". I asked the front desk and they said "you were upgraded". If you will look at Disney's room types, a courtyard view is a view of courtyard, a pool, a waterfall or Bay Lake. Must be one of those few balconies that look like stone if looking at the Lodge from the courtyard. I always said I would feel terrible for a guest in one of those rooms. It is truly awful! We had a garden view in the BCR resort in May. All you could see was a rooftop and trees. If you looked to the right it was full of scaffolding and men working. I wished I would have taken a picture or a video even. The noise was horrible and we kept the blinds drawn most of our stay. I know they have to "fix up" the resorts from time to time, but maybe it would be a good thing not to put guests in those rooms when construction is going on? :headache:

Those WL standard views get me every time. So ridiculous for the price you pay. Thats part of the reason I shy away from staying there....dont want to pay for the Courtyard view and Im afraid of their standard view~ LOL

I would LOOOOVE a value view category. We wouldnt book it, but at least I would feel more comfortable booking standard or woods, knowing I wouldnt get the worst views around.

I used to do rooms control at the BC and we had what we liked to call - pebble beach. If you stayed in one you know exactly what I mean :rotfl: It was a view of the pebble-covered roof. I never blocked anyone there unless we were in a sold out situation....and when the architect for the resort stayed there. A manager caught the "oversight" and changed it to a nice waterview room with a full balcony :rolleyes1

I always wondered why Disney did not do something with that space - put plants or something. But I think kids might jump the FULL balcony - yes even though some water views at the BC do not have a full balcony these rooms all have full balconies :confused3

He should have let the architect stay in one of those rooms! Yep, we had a pebble beach room on our first stay, but as soon as I saw it, went back to the front desk to ever so nicely request a room change. The CM was probably the rudest we've ever encountered in 30 years of Disney resort stays, but he did finally (and begrudgingly:confused3) move us to a room with a step out balcony near the volleyball court. I would have thought he'd want a TA to be in a better room since she would share her experience with clients. :thumbsup2

We had one of those rooms.....it was also a long walk from the elevator - it is one reason we will choose the BWI or YC over BC.

Ditto. For me, maybe because I prefer a "quiet" view (rather than some of the more popular ones), sometimes the view I most want is categorized with the view I least want. I love, love, love the Yacht Club, and like the wedding pavilion views with the big porches probably best of all - but they're standard, just like the views of rooftops. :sad1:

And then there are the ones that define "water view" as either river, lake or pond -- or swimming pool. :sad2: When it comes to Disney, I consider pool views "noise", but I love a lot of the river views at Riverside and Port Orleans, and the lake views nearly anywhere.

While we're on the subject of relabeling views, I think the Wilderness Lodge should have "otter pond" views ("with optional otters"), and also bear face views. ;)

Try as I might, I've never been able to make out that "bear face". :confused3

Well technically you could call it a "water" view room...when it rains.
It looks like water is standing on the roof at times. :rotfl:

I didn't think there could be any bad views at the Polynesian, but I got one! I got a great upgrade from garden view to concierge level garden view in Hawaii, room 3521, but my room view was non-existent:

Even though we had no view, I grew to like the room anyway. It was very private, and kept the room cool because the trees shaded us from the sun all day. Besides, how can you complain when you get a free upgrade to concierge, right? ;)

Hey ... that looks like the room in the Hawaii bldg we had on our May trip ... we also grew to love the room - was very quiet and yes, the tree kept the room cooler :thumbsup2

We stayed at the Beach Club for 2 days last week before switching to the BC Villas.

It was a last minute change and they accomodated us with a garden view.
Problem was, they are doing some stripping and painting on that side of the resort. The sound of workers stripping paint @ 9:00am with powertools pretty much made sure everybody was up early. :)

This was our view...

I have a picture just like that, car and all. I think we stayed 1 or 2 floors under that room.

We were travelling with my sister, and I specifically told DVC (member Services) that we needed to be as close together as possible and since we were members, and they were our guest...that if there was a difference in views...to give them the better view. Well...we got the road view...and they got the best view in all of BCV. They had a room in the bend of the resort with a huge porch that overlooked the quiet pool. I was happy I got exactly what I wanted to the extreme!

Afterwards, I told Sis that they had a great view while our view wasn't great...and they told us...oh we never went out there. We're just not into the view. They spent a lot of time in SAB, while we spent more time in the afternoons resting in the room. Well...who knew? I still felt good about being nice to Sis and her family. I really got a kick out of my 12 year old nephew going onto our balcony and saying...Wow! That does suck!

I don't have the picture (I'll see if DH has it) but at Wilderness Lodge one time, our view overlooked the concrete part that contained the trash bins. And you guessed it, EARLY every morning, the big loud trash trucks came to empty the trash bins.

OMG! We had the same view a WL! Super early each morning trucks would pull in to the loading dock with their back-up beepers! Horrible. I would have moved, but as luck had it we could see MK foreworks from our window while our very young kids slept. That made up for it a bit. I'll look for a picture!

Beacuse we got married at Disney, we got one free room night at any resort of our choice....we chose the WL. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for this view!

Looking straight ahead, you see the Contemporary and a peek of the castle (which was cool)......

But, below are the generators and service entrance (not to mention the Disney employees smoking on their break....what a way to kill the magic!)...

This thread is both hilarious & terrifying. :rotfl:

Wish we had taken a pic of the view from our room at the Poly in March. We were staying CL and received a pool-view room. Our view was of the quiet pool...which was under renovation. So we got to watch & listen to workmen jack-hammering away all day. Sooooo relaxing. :sad2:

We're booked for a standard-view CL room at the YC in November, and, after seeing some of the YC & BC views posted here, I'm slightly panicked about it.

We recently stayed at WL with a standard view. Was upgraded to a courtyard view. Here it is!

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5076/5908158149_0fcd153c82.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mlm63/5908158149/) IMG_0030 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mlm63/5908158149/) by dsnylvr63 (http://www.flickr.com/people/mlm63/), on Flickr[/IMG]

We got that room two years ago!! I had *paid* for a courtyard view. What's more, since I had a 3 and 4 year old, I knew I'd need a balcony where they could see through the railings (rather than climb on a chair to look over, thus scaring Mommy to death). So I had specifically requested a see-through-able bannister!

The wall surrounding the balcony on those rooms is chest-high on me -- and I'm 5'9"

Needless to say, we did an immediate turn-around and went back to the front desk, much to my DH's annoyance.

OK I still think I win. The first picture is looking straight out at where the pool should be and the second picture shows what you saw if you stood right at the window and looked up.
Welcome to Florida, those Banana spiders are everywhere during the summer especially in the woods.
