Intro

Hi everyone! :wave2:
I’ve always wanted to write a really great trip report. I thought about writing one from my Disney Honeymoon,
but I had so much stuff going on then, I just couldn’t find the time.

But now, the time is right. I just hope I can be entertaining and
interesting and all of the great things that come with a trip report.
I’ll try to give as much information and details as I can, with the help
of my DH (I’ve already warned him that he better remember the details!)

Oh, and did I mention PICTURES? Well, this report will be full of them.
I’m never without my camera. Some may be nice and informative,
and some will make you scratch your head and go, “Huh?”

Yeah, we’re ‘those’ type of people. Weird, crazy, fun-loving,
and most of all, obsessed with Disney! DH has been about 14 times,
I’ve been I think 6. We just can’t get enough.

The most recent trip was our Disneymoon. May 12 was the happy day, followed by 6 nights in the Polynesian, ending with
a cruise on the
Disney Wonder. It was the most amazing vacation, I don’t
think
anything could top it. :cloud9: But, that’s another story entirely.
Let’s focus on the trip coming up…

The Cast

Me Heather - 21, Mickey Mouse and Tinkerbell lover,
aspiring Travel Agent, hopefully for Disney. I dream of the day we’ll
take our future little rugrats and show them the Disney way. ::yes::

DH Darren - 23, he’s a ‘Goofy’ kinda guy. Possibly more obsessed
with Disney than I. (I just rhymed, it wasn’t on purpose!) He’s a
wonderful husband and a dedicated worker. He definitely needs this
vacation!

Mrs. Michele - DH’s mother, my mother-in-law. Loves Disney,
just not the walking!

Mr. Darren - DH’s dad, my father-in-law. Claims to get sick of Disney,
but can be heard expressing his love for the mickey bar :mickeybar
by the time we see that first billboard. He’s the one who drives us
the whole way. (11 hours!) He goes non-stop, then as soon as we
get to Disney, he doesn’t even rest, we just go straight to the parks.
He’s definitely a trooper. :car:

Mr. Mike - DH’s uncle, won’t be going with us, but he will be joining
us for a few days during the trip.

Mrs. Renee - Mr. Mike’s fiance. See above description.

Summer - Mrs. Renee’s granddaughter. I think she’s 6 or 7? They say
she will ride anything! That’s more than I can say for myself :rolleyes1

Dasani - Yes, my water. I can’t be without a bottle of water. Call me
weird, OCD, mental - whatever. I can be seen carrying it with me at
all times. So it will be making many appearances during this trip.
Don’t be alarmed, it’s not an addiction! :hyper:

Ok, so you're probably wondering what my plans are...For all you know, my trip could be next December! :scared1:
Nah, I wouldn't make you wait that long! Here's my trip details...

We leave Thursday, January 24th, at around 9 or 10pm. Drive alllllll through the night, arrive about 11 hours later, depending on rest stops.
Get to Disney (:yay: ), check into All Star Music (requested the renovated rooms), and probably head to the MK, then Epcot for EMH.
No further plans after that. I like to be spontaneous and just wake up and decide then where I want to go. So you all will just have to be surprised :rolleyes1

Anyway, as you already know, DH and I went to the Poly in May. Oh, how I long to stay there again and again...*sigh* But it just wasn't in our budget. We really can't afford anything right now, but we just HAD to get back to Disney ASAP.
We're very blessed, we have a brand new house that's just gorgeous, and each other....But we still want more! You just get that itch that only Disney can scratch.
So we're saving as much as possible and we're on a strict 'only necessary souvenirs' budget. Like my Mickey head ring that I must get on every visit. (Is it my fault the diamond falls out by the time another trip rolls around? Noooo.)

Restaurants that are a must:
Rainforest Cafe in AK (tradition. We love the atmosphere)
Fulton's Crab House (Never been. I LOVE crabs, but I'm a little leary about the taste. I'm from Louisiana, we like alot of flavor! Any input on this restaurant will be greatly appreciated.)
DH would like to try ESPN after seeing a picture of the nachos here on the DIS. I just hope and pray that the Superbowl isn't on that night! :scared:
I like watching football, but only LSU :thumbsup2

We haven't made any ADR's, we're just going to go with the flow. And since our cash flow is just creeping along right now, we'll probably do faster, cheaper meals. Fine by me, as long as I get a turkey leg and a dole whip! :lovestruc

After 8 wonderful days, we will be checking out on February 2nd. :sad1: Ok, I don't like talking about this, so nothing more will be said of the dreaded check out day... :ssst:

Here's the random information you probably don't care to know:

-DH Darren and I have been together for over 7 years. Yes, I was only 14 when we got together. That always made people turn their nose up :snooty: but look at us now. :love:

- I will never ride TOT. I am definitely not a fan of the 'free falling' exerienece. No thank you. :scared:

- Darren LOVES it. He can ride anything at all. He usually doesn't want to leave me alone though, so he doesn't get to ride.

- I rode RNRC once, but I probably won't again. I don't like having a harness holding my shoulders down. I'm very claustrophobic.

- I'm nervous to ride EE, but I told Darren that I would this time. Wish me luck! :rolleyes:

- Most things I like start with a 'D'. Darren, Disney, Dasani, Destin (Florida), Dole Whips, Dogs, Dolphins, Dungeness Crabs, Dedicated Readers ;) ...I'm sure there's more..

- Darren is a GREAT drawer. He recently drew a picture of Walt Disney. If y'all are interested in seeing some of his pictures, just let me know and I'll scan them.

- I can't draw worth a crap :rotfl:

- We plan to take our 'future' kids to Disney every year.

- Hopefully the 'future' isn't that far off ;)

- If I saw a Disser in the park, I probably wouldn't go up to them. I'm shy in that way.

- When I told Darren this, he said, "Well, make me a name on there and get me a green Mickey head thing, I'll talk to them!" :lmao: I told him no one would even know who he was!

- While watching Modern Marvels show about Disney, my brother (who has never been) made some crazy comments.
While showing Soarin', "How much does it cost to ride THAT?"
"What about that thing you ride that takes you around and you can see everything (Monorail), how much does that cost?"
"All of that is free? Hm."
"You knew that TOT didn't just drop, it takes you forward and everything?"
I was like, "Um, yeah. Do you see who you're telling?" LOL.
And he's 25 years old! Don't worry, I'm taking him very soon. There's no reason for anyone to live like this! :rotfl2: He was skeptical before, but I think he wants to go now.

-Sticky Florida water always makes me break out. I don't know what it is, but it happens almost every time. :sad2:

-I like to scrapbook, but I'm no good at it.


Ok, I'm sure that's plenty of information for you. Nothing to really add for the planning, except I have a few more things to buy.

-Drinks and snacks for the ride

-Purell

I think that's it. I know I'll probably get in Wal-Mart and need this, and that, and this other thing. Sorry DH!!

Ok, so we formed some sort of plan for the first day.

Hope to arrive early enough to get to Captain Cooks at the Polynesian for breakfast. (DH loves the Tonga Toast!)
If not, I assume we'll just eat lunch there.

We'll either check in to ASMu before or after that, depending on the time. If we check in before we go to the Poly, we'll just get on the monorail to the MK. If it's after, we'll just take a bus to the MK from ASMu.

Stay for awhile and get in some attractions. Go to the ESPN to eat. Then Epcot for Extra Magic Hours.

And I know for sure we're going to MK on the 27th for evening Extra Magic Hours. We'll most likely try to get all the evening EMH's in...Not so sure about those morning ones though! :lmao:

So that's the plan so far.

I dyed and cut my hair before my trip and the excess bleach ruined my hair., you can see from the pictures from my report that #1 - I should not have cut bangs. I am not a bang girl. #2 - Do not ask for highlights when your hair is already damaged. IT looked so bad.... and yellow!

I never, ever, ever, ever, ever go anywhere without a water bottle and my camera. Literally anywhere, but mine's always a bottle of Poland Spring instead of Dasani. Everyone thinks I'm insane because I'll just go to my cousin Cari's house directly across the street from mine and bring a water bottle. She'll give me a weird look and be like, "You know we have water, right?" :lmao: I even bring a water bottle to restaurants! I thought I was the only one so I'm glad I'm not :rotfl2:

I LOVE the little Minnie ring that I bought at the Arribas Bros store in Downtown Disney. Your Mickey one is probably the same thing. We were playing cards around the vacation home the day after I bought mine and I noticed that a rhinestone was already missing and we had to go back and exchange it :headache: I hope my new one lasts cause we wont be back until next summer so get a new one :sad1:

I can't believe you leave so soon. Have an amazing time and take tons of pictures! And don't forget to take lots and lots of notes ;)

I hated how people laughed at us for being together when we were younger, since Darren is 3 years older than me. They thought we'd never last...Well, guess they were wrong, huh? Hahah!

I thought I had my wedding planned out, too. We had an October date, I had my dress, the reception hall was booked.
A few months later, I exchanged my dress for a simpler one, moved the date back to May, and changed the reception hall...The only thing I didn't change was the groom!
Just hope you don't marry an only child...My MIL wanted alot of say so in the wedding plans, and I had many stressful moments because of this...:headache:
If I had to do it all over again, I would just get married in Disney and be done with it! :rotfl2:

Aquafina's the worst. UGH. No, actually the Nestle water's the worst. We never see it around here but when we went food shopping down in Orlando they had it everywhere and it was the grossest thing EVER! It tasted like dirty bleach :headache:

Honestly, the luau was ok...I didn't really like the food, besides the fresh pineapple. Darren loved the chicken...The show is good, but I didn't like watching it from the side like that.
I say experience it once, but it's not really a MUST do...It was cute though.

Definitely take a cruise! If you do it, you gotta do it Disney. It's so awesome going to their private island and being the only ship docked there.
All the food and drinks (except alcohol, of course) on the island and ship are free. I know on Carnival, you have to pay if you want Coke or something.

Day 1. January 24th. Part 1

Ok, so Darren went into work as usual. He calls me at 9am, they let him leave since he was leaving for vacation that night. :woohoo: So he brought us breakfast from McDonald's and we ate, then took a nap.

We woke up around 1 and went to my mom's to visit for awhile. Darren left to get me some books to read, and get himself some more hats. I stayed and spent some time with my nephew.

Then around 7pm, Darren's parents came over and brought us all dinner from a mexican restaurant. We ate, then went to load up the van with our luggage:

Then we were on our way! We left at 8:30pm. Stopped to fill up the van in Slidell, then drove, drove, drove.
Mr. Darren started to get tired around 10:30, so we stopped at a gas station for Darren to take over. While I was in the bathroom, Darren found me some barbeque Corn Nuts (My favorite!) and Mr. Pibb (Another favorite!) So we paid for that and went on our way.

At 11:41pm, we passed the Florida state line. Alot more driving to go! After about 3 hours, Mr. Darren took over driving again.

We got to our hotel at about 7:30am. That's losing an hour with the time change. So it took us about 10 hours to get there. Not too bad.

It felt so good to be here! We got in line for check in and didn't have to wait for a person. We requested king beds, and the two rooms close together if possible. The lady was kind of new I think, so she asked the manager, DJ. He was really nice and helpful. He said he could see what he could do.
He said, "See, I'm helpful, even though I graduated from Ohio State." (Darren was wearing his LSU hat and shirt. LSU beat Ohio State in the National Championship.)
Darren laughed and said, "Well, you must hate me then!"
And DJ said, "No, I love y'all, just not your shirt and hat." It was funny.

Coming up....Will we get the rooms we requested? And what's for breakfast??? Stay tuned!

We have always lived in apartments, or rental places- were they are all white walls and cream carpet.. grr.. I hate it. But anyways, you are inspiring me with ideas.. because now that I get to finally paint- and actually design.. I can't make a final decision! hehe

OHH and I love all the disney touches you have throughout.. soo cute. I have turned my computer room into the disney theme memorbilia.. I'll have to post pics once its gets painted and all set up.. I'll try to remember! =)

Ok, I was going to post an update but I'm kinda working right now. I just came home for lunch, so I just have a quick question for you all.

The day we came back from Disney, we booked our trip for Panama City Beach in May...We usually go to Disney once a year, then a beach trip once a year. We always go to the beach with my brother, and to Disney with Darren's parents (which you obviously know)

Ok, so I got that 40% off post card in the mail for Disney resorts...I get a quote for this September. We can stay in the Caribbean Beach for only $800 for 8 nights..Pretty good deal, so I ask Darren. He says that sounds good.
So I'm looking forward to this trip alone with DH and I, just relaxing, most likely the last trip before we have a baby.

Well, last night Darren tells his parents that we're probably going in September, just mentioning it to them. His mom says, "That's a good deal. Let me know when you book it and we'll give you the money."

Ummm. :confused3

They just invited themselves on our vacation. Of course Darren doesn't want to hurt their feelings and say they can't go with us, but still. It kinda makes me not even want to go, because we ride with them, go everywhere with them. I wanted it to be just DH and I for the first time since our honeymoon.

And the thing about it is, at the end of this vacation, they were both complaining about it being too long, not wanting to ride anything, once a year is enough, too much actually. :confused3

What would you do? Am I just being a with about the whole thing, or is it as rude as it seems? Why can't we have a vaction with them, a vacation with my brother and his family, and then one of our own? :sad2:

wow! that totally sucks that they invited themselves on your vacation. Maybe sit down and have a chat with them and just tell them that there's nothing against them but you guys really want to have a trip to disney just the two of you this time and you all can go somewhere else later. Maybe try and make a deal with them to go to disney with them every other year so that way at least once every two years you get a disney trip just the two of you garunteed. All you can do is put it to them gently and hope that they recieve it well. Things like that when there's assumptions going on are always hard to deal with. Good luck! I hope you can get it worked out. If you do go in september when are you gonna go? We'll be there sept 13th - 20th. maybe we can run into eachother :thumbsup2

I don't think I would let it ruin your trip or cancel it. Maybe explain to them that u were thinking of going yourselves or if they would like to come that you would like to do your own things and you can meet up for dinners.

Day 1. Part 2. January 25th.

Ok, so did we get the rooms we requested?? Yes! :woohoo: Two king sized rooms right next to each other. They were handicap accessible, so it was just the shower. As long as no one needed the rooms, we said we'll take them!

They weren't ready yet, so we drove to the Polynesian for a breakfast at Captain Cooks. Ahhh, it brought back so many memories of our honeymoon! It felt as if we'd never left!

So we got our food and sat down at a table outside. It was so chilly! We had some of our duck friends from last time trying to bum some food out of us, but we didn't give in. We didn't want to mess up their normal eating habits, although I'm sure they get way more people food than they're supposed to.

I had the child's scrambled egg and bacon with grapes. It was fine, as far as scrambled eggs go:

This was about the only day that those cheap paper tickets actually worked when we put them in the machine, but more on that later. We had to rent Darren's mom a cart because she has arthritis in her knees and she can't walk very far.

There was only a 5 minute wait, and we got on in no time. I just love this ride, and Jack Sparrow is a good addition I think. So we yo ho'd and then exited to the gift shop, of course.
In the gift shop this little girl's mom handed her something, and the little girl said, "OH YES!!!...What is it??" I thought it was funny.

If I decide to leave the butthead at home and go with this woman I work with and her daughter and we split the cost, I think I can swing it. Ya just gotta motivate me to start saving!!;)

That's a long drive!! Eventually, I want to go to Disneyland, and I refuse to fly, so that will be a REALLY long drive...We'll definitely have to stop and sleep!

My travel agent said that so far, Disney hasn't announced the free dining :sad1: I think they're giving those big discounts for the resorts this year instead. We've never done the dining, it just seems like too much food! But if it's free, why not?!

Day 1. Part 3.

Ok, Scott was right!! He wins the prize!!! :rotfl: He must have had a peak at my notes somehow ;)

We skipped Thunder Mountain, I think it was like a 40 minute wait. We didn't want to get a FastPass because we weren't staying too long.
So we walked over to Haunted Mansion with no wait at all. I couldn't wait to see the updates. They were great!!

So after a haunted ride, we went to one of my favorites, Philharmagic. For some reason I have no more pictures in Magic Kingdom for this day :confused3 I must have been really tired!

Philharmagic had no wait as well, so we got right in. I hate how they cram you into those rooms like sardines. I can't stand being so close to people I don't know :scared:

Anyway, after a great show, we headed to Tomorrowland for a turkey leg. Darren and I always get one to share, and it's plenty. So after that, we relaxed with a ride on the TTA. While on it, Mr. Darren called to see if our rooms were ready. They were! So after the ride, we left Magic Kingdom because we were all really tired.

We got back on the monorail to the Polynesian. We had to get the van because we drove it there for breakfast that morning. Finally we made it back to All Star Music. I was definitely ready for a nap!

Our room number was 542. I always think it's so exciting getting that first look at your hotel room. It's like, yay I get to live here for a week!

Yep, it's a curtain. It has the silhouettes of Mickey and Minnie and everybody. It really came in handy when Darren would get up before me and I still wanted to sleep! :rotfl:

Day 1. Part 4

Well that nap felt GREAT! I didn't want to wake up, but we'd already slept too much. We were in Disney World for cryin' out loud! We woke up at about 5:00 and headed out the door to Epcot for Extra Magic Hours.

I still look tired haha.

They played Wii on that big blown up TV screen every night. And watched a Disney movie afterwards...It was a cute idea.

So Darren wanted to check out the arcade to see if they had his game in there...They didn't...Which is probably for the best! Haha.

We go outside and hop on the Epcot bus. We got there at about 6:30pm.

We headed straight to Mexico to eat. We picked Cantina de San Angel.
I got the child's quesadilla and nachos. Darren got the Cantina nachos. I don't remember what his parents got.
Darren also got a margarita. It was pretty good. I don't know why we don't have pictures of all of this?

I didn't like the quesadilla. It had no flavor AT all. So I just ate the nachos and cheese.

After eating, we stopped off the get our EMH bands:

Now it was time to have some fun! We headed to Spaceship Earth. Let me just say that I have never ever seen a line for this ride before now. It said a 15 minute wait, but I think we waited longer than that.

I have some pictures from the end of the ride, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't been on it. All I can say is we cracked UP!! It was really funny. I love the new additions.

So we get off SE and it's FREEZING outside. So what do we do? Get ice cream of course! LOL. Why do people crave ice cream when it's cold out? Beats me.
We go to a little ice cream shop (I don't know what it's called?) and sit inside. I got a scoop of strawberry and Darren got a Coke float. I think his dad got a shake and his mom got a sundae.

After our ice cream, we head over to The Seas.

There was no wait, but the queue line is about 3 miles long so it takes about 10 minutes to walk through lol. It's a cute little ride, I enjoy it.

After Nemo, we get in line for Soarin'. Let me just say I HATE how wide this queue is. It's just more reason for people to cut. I know it saves alot of space, but I don't like it.
Anyway, it was a 30 minute wait, which isn't that bad for Soarin', so we get in line. We ended up sitting in the last row, which is ok with me! I don't like heights!

I smelled the scents in here too, Tat2!! Haha. I love Soarin'!

After riding, we were still tired and COLD, so we decided to head back to the hotel. We got on the bus and made it back to the resort by 10:30.

We were hungry again, so Darren and I went to the food court to see what they had. We also got our refillable mugs.

I didn't care for these much at all. I didn't like the sauce. We also got Coke in our mugs...Little did we know it would be the last time the Coke tasted good the WHOLE trip! But more on that later...

We went back to the room to take a shower. We were in bed by 11:30.

I woke up at 3:20am....This would be a pattern the whole trip. I never slept the whole night. I read for a little while until I fell back asleep...

And that concludes the very LONG Day 1!!!!

Great updates. Sorry I fell behind. I ate in Mexico in July and I HATED it. I do love Mexican food so it was just a bummer. I cannot wait to see the updates of SE in April. I hope I like them. I have heard mixed reviews. I cannot wait to hear more.

It had chicken in it, but it had no flavor, so she won't even know it's in there! :lmao: I'm sure you can probably get them to leave the chicken out though, I don't see why not? But yeah, it's pretty bland, so if that's what she likes, she'll love it! And it came with plain nachos and cheese to dip them in.

And yep, Disney only sells Coke products, and Dasani is made by Coke. So it all works out perfect for me! :laughing:

Well our Valentine's Day was nice. Darren got me a heart necklace, a card, a dozen red roses, and chocolate covered strawberries! :lovestruc
He was really surprised at all the decorations I had set up, I think he liked it.
I hope everyone's day was good. I have a busy weekend, my friend is coming to set up our alarm tomorrow, I have to make party favors for Darren's aunt's baby shower, we might boil crawfish, I have to make a dessert for the baby shower, PLUS the baby shower is on Sunday...We went shopping today for the shower. It's a girl! :cloud9: I love buying baby things!!
