One of the cool things about digital photography is the ability to "save" a shot by cropping it, after-the-fact. I've been going through my July 07 WDW shots to see if there were any "POTD candidates" that did not make the first cut, but could be salvaged by a little cropping, as well as some other editing. Below are a couple of before/after sets.

I agree- very good point. Here are a few recent ones of mine that come to mind. It is a lot easier (at least for me) to think more about composition on the computer later than when trying to grab the shot.

yekim: love the cropped spaceship earth. so much more dramatic and interesting without the tree :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
i'll have to go through my photos but i usually shoot "extra" room since i know i am going to want to crop.. if i had some of those giant lenses i wouldn't have to but, that's life:rotfl:

even with those giant lenses it's always best to shoot wide, it's much easier to crop something out, than it is to add it in if you cut it off composing the shot, such as a hand, foot etc...

it's funny how we all like or prefer things differently.
with the spaceship earth shot I like the original better, the tree is an excellent example of framing your subject,

the cropped pic is good if you want a pic of lines and angles, but for me as a pic of spaceship earth, when I look at it I wonder where the rest of it is...:confused3

with the woman with the rose, I tried cropping it without cutting of her back, and I'm undecided which I like better...

the dancers, try cropping that one, keeping their feet, and see which you prefer...

again, not saying any of these are wrong, the artist has the final say on how they want their work to look, they are all great shots, cropped or uncropped...

Great idea Ed. I'm just about finished uploading my pics from last months trip. Then I'll be able to finish my trip report. After that I do plan on going though them again and doing some cropping.

Jeff, I like the cropped version of the dancers. Nice job.
