Can be dark, can be funny, can be the I-can't-believe-I-forgot-about-that-and-look-where-it-landed-me moments.
Like running through one of the bushes in the labyrinth at the back of the UK and getting a piece of wood stuck in my knee

Ate a bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers, and onions from Starring Rolls, then rode RnRC twice in a row...I was offered a choice of pepto bismol, mylanta, and tums at the first aid station...took all 3.

We used the First Aid station at the MK to store my son's insulin and infusion sets. When it was time to change the set it was nice to have a private room in a clean place. We didn't have to miss a beat in our park touring. :thumbsup2

dd had a major panic attack and had to lie down at the first aid station at MK. It served her well, we are both very grateful. S

We were staying at the Disneyland Hotel and I had a very bad sinus infection. I knew I wouldn't be able to stand the flight home if I didn't get some antibiotics and decongestant soon. :headache:
Disney has a policy that they will transport you to a doctor or hospital if your needs are beyond what they can help you with at the park, hotel, or resort. DH was attending a convention there, so I had to wait for him to get back around 9pm to stay with our DD. :cutie:
At the time, they had these white jeeps with Mickey ears on them used by their security, and I was told to look for one looking for me out front. I thought that would be cool!:earsboy:
Turns out they were all too busy so they hired and paid for an actual ambulance to transport me! No lights and sirens... oh, well.
But, the EMTs waited for me and drove me back.
Disney treats you right!:goodvibes

My mother having her foot run over by an ECV outside of the Hall of Presidents and needing to ice it to keep the swelling down. She also lost her balance but somehow or another I managed to grab her arm and keep her standing or she would have been knocked down also - which luckily moved me out of harms way or I would have been on my butt to boot. Poor Mom ended up with a giant bruise on her shin and a sore foot. Thankfully it was the last day of our trip. (Just for the record - bad things happen when adults allow children to try to back up and manuever an ECV in a crowed space - or any space for that matter!) The cast members were very fast to react and helpful - but we never did get an apology from the EVC family. :confused3 They just scootered away I guess.

On our honeymoon Disney cruise, DH asked if I wanted him to reapply sunscreen on my back during our last day on Castaway Cay. I didn't realize the sun in the Bahamas was hotter than in MD and passed on the extra lotion and REALLY paid for it later!!! :headache: When I pass up a picture with Mickey before getting back on the ship, you know I don't feel well!!! I missed our last night at dinner because there was no way I could have put a shirt on my back... The medical attention on board offered up good old Tylenol - I ended up paying double the price for Solorcaine at our Disney hotel when we got off the ship the next day. I learned my lesson after that:upsidedow

A few years ago DS had some "plumbing" problems and spent most of our first few days visiting every restroom in the world...so we took him to the closest urgent care clinic. They gave him some antibiotics and told him to drink more fluids (why won't he ever listen to his mother!) and promptly charged us double the co-pay. Even after they received payment from our insurance and an EOB indicating the correct co-pay, they refused to refund the difference. I was not happy but decided it just wasn't worth the fight over $20!

Our last trip down, DS4 was acting like he didn't feel good...but wanted to do the triceratops spin. So I thought he must feel ok.
We head off towards ts and pass the Pooh and friends place and he wanted to go down there.
So off we head down in line and he looks at me and just throws up all over me, him, the stroller and street. :scared1:
They were very friendly and offered to go get me a shirt to wear, and even for him to go up and see Pooh before we went home. :confused3 but DS is shy and was hating all the attention so we just left.
They were very nice....the funny part was they asked DS4 if was ok and he says "can I go on the triceratops spin now?!"

Sorry, I know "food" must be a typo for "foot", but I initially had a very funny visual to go with it...and wondering why her food had been on the ground in the first place!

Why is it our kids think that we want their vomit all over us? I have never figured out why they can't turn their heads away! I have one of those that looks at you and pukes with no warning! I have been thrown up on ALOT, but thank goodness never at Disney!

I've gone in twice.
Once during Grad Nite when I was chaperoning. My headache was T H I S big and I got some Tylenol. My neck just starts tightening everytime I hear that song, Errybody in the Club Getting Tipsy as they played it in heavy rotation that night.
The other time was when after getting off of California Screamin' my daughter's ear started bleeding. They took a look at it and got us the information to the closest Kaiser. Turns out she had some abrasion from her hearing aid but it really freaked me out.

LOL - opps - yes it is supposed to be foot. I will edit it - but don't you know that I proofed my post several times before I clicked and I still missed that. And in my book, having your very expensive Disney food run over by an ECV might just be cause for a medical emergency!!!

Uncleromulus had a kidney stone attack the very first night of our trip last May!! Hurt just as much as they say it does!!! Took two trips to the ER at Celebration Hospital--some Percocet/Motrin combination medication and I managed to stay at WDW and finish the trip.
Now doing what I SHOULD have been doing long before-drinking LOTS of water.

After that we also wondered if anyone had ever given birth in the parks. I know years back someone delivered a baby and left it in the bushes at the MK. I think that was baby Jasmine.

I visited the first aid station at the MK once when I had a terrible headache. A couple of ibuprofen did the trick. DH had to go at Epcot one time to get bandages for a blister that developed on his ankle during the day.

My son got an eye infection when he was 2. Something not mentioned in the podcast, but I think the absolutely BEST choice, is having a house call visit from a local doctor. I got the information from the first aid nurse at the Magic Kingdom.
Yes, it was expensive, but he came right to our resort room right on time, same day, and then had a pharmacy deliver medicine we needed to the front desk.
The whole thing took about 1 1/2 hours out of our day, instead of ruining the whole day.
I've heard awful things about the walkin clinic mentioned on the podcast, in terms of waiting times, for years. I'd never go there.

We call Miles the Vomit Comet. He's 9 and still threw up in his bed instead of making it to the bathroom this past Thanksgiving week. Then of course he comes and gets me up to clean it all up and change his sheets.
I wasn't going to admit this publicly, but he's thrown up on a Disney bus *and* in the pool on the Disney Magic, in the past.
No warning, no signs of not feeling well ahead of time, I swear I'm not a bad parent ignoring his symptoms. He just barfs.

The walk in clinic is not so good. When I got the wood stuck in my knee, my dad and I were in there from about 8 to 2 at night. It was not very fun.
I got a splinter on the bridge at Dixie Landings my first trip...got it pulled out at the first aid station at the MK.

My partner, Gabby knew how disappointed that I was about not being able to see Wishes for my birthday because they chose to throw a MNSSHP on 11/02. So, when our itinerary was turned upsidedown unexpectedly during our last trip, she sweetly offered to go over to MK on 11/01 to see Wishes. I was thrilled, that is the only thing that we went there for that night. We staked out the perfect spot. Just after the opening sequence was done, I felt a fireworks debris fall on my face. It was a really windy night due to a hurricaine off the coast. A few moments later, Gabby grabbed my hand an pulled me away saying "I have something in my eye, we have to get to the light". We went to the icecream parlor and I pulled a ground pepper sized flake of debris from her eye. Her eye was totally red, bloodshot, and she said that she smelled sulfur in her nose. I told her to close her eyes and let me lead her to first aid.
I hope that we didn't mess up the Wishes experience for too many people, but I wasn't very shy in my quest to make my way to first aid in the dark and leading Gabby by the hand as I excused our way through the crowds. The nurse on duty flushed her eye. He also gave her some drops to flush her eye with a few more times and gave her an ice pack. Luckily, her eye did clear over the next few days and we didn't have to seek further medical attention.
We never did see Wishes all the way through during our trip. She is totally spooked about seeing fireworks without eye protection now. She says that she is going to buy everyone clear goggles for our trip later this year, so that nobody has a similar experience. Maggie

On our trip this past August, my DH cut his leg coming off of the Jungle Cruise. It took him a few minutes to realize what had happened (I think the bleeding profusely did the trick! ;) ).
Well I took him over to the first aid station and the nice nurse cleaned up the cut and gave him a stack of band aids - - and we were ready to get back into the park for the evening.
While we were in the first aid station, there was a poor girl (in her 20's) that had hit her face somehow and had lost a tooth/teeth. :scared:
The nurses were trying to locate a local dentist to see her right away! I felt really bad for her!

I had an episode of very fast heart rythem once while we were at Coranado Springs. When we couldn't stop it, the front dest sent an ambulance TO OUR ROOM. They took us to Celebration hospital, where they got me back to normal very quickly. Then, they gave me a stuffed Mickey Mouse, and called our resort, who sent a cab--no charge.
This is why I keep going back to Disney.

Back in 1999 when my son was 18 months old, we went to Typhoon Lagoon. I was at the back of the park and he was just a foot or so in front of me and we were going down a set of 3 steps. He missed and tumbled down and hit the top of his head on a rock. The blood was pouring so of course I picked him up and ran to the nearest cm. They gave me towel for his head and pointed me to the first aid station at the front of the park. Got to the first aid station and they called the emt's since it was a head injury. (standard procedure I was told). It turned out it was a very small cut and no stitches needed. We just got him cleaned up and we were on our way. From that incidence, I learned that minor head injuries can be bleeders so panic is really not necessary. :)

I've had 2 incidents that required attention. The first was me and the second my nephew. The first, I was 17 and on spring break with mom and dad and 3 girlfriends. We LOVE Disney so we got to MK before park opening that day I think around 7:30 am and were among the first in the park. After going strong from ride to ride, we met up with my parents in the hub for the Easter parade (this was easter sunday 1995). I think the parade was at 1 for some reason, but I guess it could have been 3 already. Anyway, we had never stopped to eat lunch, and it was 90+ that day and we were there from NY, so we weren't prepared for the heat and hadn't had more than a sip of water from a fountain. After about 30 min standing in the blazing sun waiting for the parade to start, right as it started by us I passed out in a huge crowd of people. :faint: I woke up to my parents, friends and a couple of cast member hovering over me  Then, about 30 seconds later, my best friend did the same thing :faint: :scared1: So, as the parade continued, the two of us were rolled on stretchers through the Easter Sunday parade crowd to first aid! We were mortified!
The cm's gave us a bunch of gatorade and we hung out in the AC for a while. My parents took the other 2 friends and went to casey's and got us all lunch. We ate in first aid and then were back on our feet for the day. For the rest of the trip we had mandatory gatorade/water with us at all times and we had mandatory lunch times! ::lmao:
Ok, the second incident was this past April 07. We were at Coronado springs in the feature pool. It was me, DF, mom, dad, DSis and her husband and 2 kids - 3 and 2. About 20 minutes after we get there, my poor 2 year old nephew is in the kiddie pool with his grandpa and he trips on the mound thing in the middle of it that has sprayers in it and he falls and hits his head on the side of the pool. Lots of blood and a screaming 2 year old - poor little guy! So the cm's get towels and ice and call emt's. It took a LONG time (20 minutes or so) before the emt's got there, and they ended up not being able to do anything for him anyway, so DS and DBIL drove him to the Celebration hospital. They were out of there in 90 minutes with 5 stitches just over his eye. :scared1:
Even though the initial response was slower than we would have liked (just hard to wait with a 2 year old) the cm's were the ones that suggested Celebration hospital instead of urgent care. My sister gave it really high marks and I'd recommend it to anyone that has the need!

Years ago when Typhoon Lagoon had first opened, we went there, and I was prob. in about grade 6ish.... I was standing in the big wave pool, in between ankle and knee deep, well when the wave came it knocked me flying and I broke my tailbone...went to the DR in Lake Buena Vista. Been once for bronchitis too (another trip).

We've been with to WDW with our DD numerous times without even realizing there WERE first aid stations in the parks. Now that we have a DS (21 months), we've had to visit them twice! First time was in October at MGM. DH had DS on a bench outside of the Playhouse Disney area while DD and I were in the gift shop across the way. I hear this very loud screaming and the thought passed through my brain, "Huh, that sounds like my son." Turns out, it was! DS had climbed up on the bench to sit next to DH and promptly fell off, head first! By the time I got there, the bump on his forehead was starting to resemble a unicorn. We then were directed to First Aid by a cast member. Thinking they were going to make it a big ordeal and it would take hours out of our day, we almost didn't go. Not only did they give us an ice pack, they gave us tylenol and a dropper. I had to tell the medic how much I wanted dose wise, and then I had to adminster it, but they were willing to give us whatever we wanted for him. We then got a hand out on what to watch for with head injuries, etc. What a great experience!

I had just started a newer, stronger, blood pressure medicine just one day before my SOLO WDW trip.
I was feeling fine, but just to be sure, each day, whatever park I was in,
I stopped at the first aid station to have my blood pressure checked.
The people in the first aid station
were great.

Oh wow. I'm really glad your son is okay!
The first aid station is like a ride to us, we need to visit it every year......
The first time was at Animal Kingdom, mij DH got a allergy attack and we never had any medication with us (he only took medication later times in the year but like Pete said, the seasons and bloomings are different). So finnaly i went to the first aid and got him some anti histaminicum and that worked out perfect even better then the medication he used back home so we bought him a supply for ever....
The second time we used it was in the same holiday.
I myself got a sevear allergy rush under my feet and i had to use a wheelchair so i could move, walking was not possible anymore, i cracked open and i went to the first aid in the MK for some bandage.
** The allergy rush was from a allergy for leather, when i came back home i went to the doctor a dermatologist and she finnaly -it took 11 months- found out that i was allergic to leather**
The next year we went to the first aid in the MK because i had a allergy rush on my arm because i used a bandage.
**The allergy rush this time, was from a bandage. This was the first time i reacted on a bandage, so i needed some latexfree bandage**
And last year we also went to the first aid at the MK because i had bumbed my leg at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
We were finished riding the ride and were leaving the carts, when you leave the train the gate already opens for the ones to load.
The kid that entered the train was to exided and didn't wait untill i was finished onloading the train.
He stepped on the back of my feet and so i falled agains the train and scrached my leg. For just one moment i lay down at the onlaoding dock. I was bleading a litllebit.
Because it seemed smart to put a cold pack on it so it wouldn't get thick and blue i went to the first aid and got myself a cold pack.
I wonder what will happen this upcomming trip....

In 2004 my DD3 (at the time) was excited our first night at Disney. She climbed the top of the bunk beds in our room (AKL) and fell off of them. I know I should have been watching her closer, but we had just got there and I was dealing with suitcases and getting settled in... we all know how preschoolers can get into trouble in the blink of an eye hahah
Anyway, we ended up in the ER for a concussion at the Orlando Hospital our first night at Disney :rotfl:
They were REALLY great at the hospital and were used to having Disney Accidents show up. They even gave her a mickey mouse doll while we were there to cheer her up. They knew much better than I how to handle our insurance for out of town out of network stuff and we only were charged our regular co payment... no problems at all with payments.
She had a full recovery and was at the parks the next day jumping and running with the rest of the preschoolers in the park. :rotfl:

my bf stepped on a sea urchin at Castaway Cay. His foot hurt pretty bad but there wasn't anything they could really do. They said it's like calcium and his body would absorb it...or something like that.
Now if he wouldn't have been a show off on a jet ski in Mexico, he wouldn't have gotten a compression fracture in his spine.

Several years ago, my back completely went "out" during our vacation. I couldn't even walk from our bed to bathroom and spent 3 days crying in our room while DH took the kids to the parks. After days of ice not working, advil not kicking in, we decided to visit the Urgent Care clinic on Apopka Vineland Road. WOW! Two hours later, with help to some valium and darvocet, I was upright again. Even walked 12 hours at the MK the next day. To this day, I keep a couple of pills on hand in case the old back acts up. That clinic rocked! :worship:

My 10 month old daughter got the flu on the way down. We were staying at the Grand Floridian. We ended up taking a taxi to Celebration hospital and back to the hotel. We did not get back to the hotel until 3am. They were very good. They went to Walgreens to get the medication we needed and delivered it to our room.

I've got one!
DH and I took the girls for their 1st trip in 8/05. I'm an RN, dh is a surgeon. Kids were 5 and 4. Oldest is autistic.
First morning- we hit MK. I get new annual pass checked in, and get dd her GAC. I walked away from the Guest Service desk without my cellphone. I was rushing to get them all to CRT when the rope dropped. I tripped over the velvet rope and landed smack on the ground, Left elbow first and whacked my head, losing consciousness. I awoke to dh and "Mouske-EMTs". DD was so upset seeing me out cold, she puked all over herself. I grabbed an ice pack and we headed off to CRT. They were nice enough to send over some fresh clothes for her, and took us in even though we were late for our ressie.
I suffered thru that day. In the morning, it was clear there was a serious problem. I was sent via cab from GF to Celebration hospital. That was horrible! I waited for at least 16 hours for an MRI before they finally transferred me to Orlando Regional. There I had the MRI, a minor surgical procedure,( pressure relief for compartment syndrome-swelling on the nerves) and was released 2 days later-with a big bag of Percocet &OXYCONTIN and dressing supplies, by cab to GF! (seriously, more pain meds than a herd of elephants would need)
WDW was as great as possible. They had a VIP guide with my dh during all days to help with the kids, and we were able to secure the same sitter from Kids Nite Out for every evening. DH was able to get to see me at the hospital. When I returned, it was great to be able to walk around with them, and then just get back to my room and allowing them to still enjoy the trip. The guide even helped DH take the girls for a pony ride in the rain at Ft. Wilderness.
I completed my elbow repair when we were at home. Thanks to WDW, our vacation was as successful as possible in the situation. I am so grateful for their help and attention.
Celebration Hospital, on the other hand, was quite a disaster! I was on a stretcher in a hallway forever waiting for a hand surgeon (who never showed)Some poor grandmother had had a stroke and was in the ER with 2 really little kids. There was NO ONE to watch them while she underwent her tests/procedures. Their mom was coming in as quickly as possible from Atlanta. Just so sad!
Our next trip was a much better trip for everyone!!!

I've had a couple of brushes with first aid, both related to twisting my ankle. Once I was carrying my then-6yo DD (chronic fatigue, wiped out asleep) after Wishes and I stepped in the darned streetcar track on Main Street. My ankle buckled, but I didn't drop DD! Went and had it iced and wrapped and gimped the rest of the trip (I still hate that track...it's deadly)
Second time, I had finished a convention at the Contemporary and was loading my trailer when I lost it stepping off an indentation in the curb I hadn't seen/expected. I iced that one myself, but my ankle/foot was swollen and rubbed a huge blister from my Croc, so I wound up visiting first aid in MGM for that one (ice, compression, lecture about Crocs and not seeking aid sooner...)
During the convention, however, 9yo DD dropped a heavy suitcase on her foot in our CR room (that has no storage or we wouldn't have needed said suitcase lying about...). When I stopped at the concierge desk and asked for assistance (gave our room #, explained DD was injured), I was handed a pamphlet for the urgent care. :confused3 Seriously, they gave me a pamphlet while my DD sat there crying (granted, she was already in a wheelchair...lesson learned from the first boo-boo incident, now I don't have to carry her when she falls asleep). Long story, but my 19yo DD had my van (she was doing some seasonal part time work while we were there), so I called her at WoD and had her leave my keys with the manager at the desk and hopped a bus from CR to DTD. Got the keys, located the van in the CM parking lot and drove DD to CentraCare (about now, I realized they'd have sent a van, but it was too late for that). We waited about an hour, had her x-rayed (there was a "shadow", so he put her in a boot and told us to follow up at home), and went on our merry way. No follow up at all from the CR, which miffed me a little bit. I just got the bill from CentraCare, over $200 for this little field trip. :scared1:

I was doing the Segway Tour and my machine malfunctioned and completely stopped, throwing my old body totally over the top and landing on my face knocking out my front tooth. After a trip to the First Aid station I was given the name of an emergency dentist. Luckily, she was in our insurance network so it was covered. Tooth fixed, and back to the parks!!:cool1:

DD3 fell off the bench seat in the Tiki Room this December past. She hit her eye on the bench in front of her and it was all swollen and weepy and a little bruised. We had to go to First Aid for ice to keep the swelling down.

See, the strange thing for me is that I'm pretty much the world's biggest clutz, queen of the mystery bruises, Clumsy, the 8th dwarf, etc, and I've never even set foot in a First Aid Station! I guess the Mickey Magic is helping me out?
