Sailaway DIS Party - Deck 10, Overloooking the Pool - Starboard Side - 4:30 PM
Secret Mickey - PM Goofieslonglostsis with your information if you would like to participate. Please include your REAL name, DIS name, Cabin number, Favorite character, Favorite color, your interest, your likes...such as color, food, hobbies, smells, etc....and also your dislikes....allergies, etc.
Cut off for signing up is June 15, 2009 Names will be put into a hat and drawn from there. No changes as this gets to complicated.
I would encourage people to put ingenuity into their gifts - and to hunt the bargain tables and racks for gifts that may qualify. There are lots of options out there, so have fun with it. There should be at least 1 nice gift with a minimum of 4 gifts. The rest is up to you, if you choose to do more gifts or just the minimum, the important thing is that you have fun. A gift amount limit will be determined and posted here....so check back often!
Lanyards and Name Cards - PM Sftnslky, Maggie62677 or lexiconjoe with your name, DIS name and how many you want to order. Let us know if you need one for a child and how many. We will look into getting shorter ones for the children.
FE = Fish Extender Gifts - This is a fun "game" that was started several years ago by fellow DISers. For those who want to give gifts, please use the roster for names and locations of people. Participation is voluntary and you are not required to give anything to get anything!! All you do is purchase small gifts to put into the FE....this is usually done secretly. Some ideas of gifts are magnets, postcards from your state, keychains, pirate themed trinkets, stickers, candy, personalized candy bars, etc....This might be a good time to stock up on bulk items since we are in the Halloween season. Items do not have to be expensive. Just use your imagination and creativity. Cut off for sign up will be June 15, 2009
PJ Breakfast - Lumieres on October 2, 2009 at 7am. Group photo to be taken. More details to follow. Contact Fire14 if you will be attending. It's a go!!!!!!!! Cut off to sign up is June 15, 2009

WOO-HOO - hi guys and gals (and KAY - I can't believe we are cruising "together" again)! :goodvibes  Just put my deposit down today. This will be a celebratory cruise for my 30th birthday, and DH and DD (who will be 5) will be joining me. We *hope* that our dear friends and their 2 girls will also be joining us. Anyway, I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone. Take care!

LOL - well, my birthday is actually in July, 2009 but the cruise prices in July were $3,500 more than this cruise. :scared1: So, I guess I should say that I'll be celebrating my 30th un-birthday during our cruise. :woohoo: :yay:

No your not. You're just a tad bit later celebrating your 30th. Some people wait untill the next weekend to celebrate and party, you just happened to wait untill the next cruise. :rolleyes1
If there are going to be more people celbrating their 30th, we'll be asking for a discount. We deserve it. As a present and as a thank you for letting everybody enjoy our great celebration. :rotfl2:

That's just down right rotten, Fourgonefishn. Who ever decided it was a good idea to hand out snow at Easter!?
It's been snowing overhere for 5 days in a row allready and not looking like it's going to stop yet. It's a looooooooooong 18 months still to go when you look out of your window and see all of the white and grey. :(

Well, I have to say that snow sounds a bit welcome right now. Atlanta's pollen count has been in the 10,000s, which means that everyone in the Metro area is walking around with itchy eyes, sniffly noses, and tickley (is that even a word - LOL?) throats. I can't wait for the darn trees to quit flowering! :rolleyes1

If you wish, I'll send it your way Crystal! :cloud9:
Surely most of us wont be missing it. The kids love it, it makes for nice pictures, but that's about it. Just a small amount of snow and traffic and everything comes to a halt. You'ld think we'ld be used to snow in march by now after a couple of years of it, but I guess we're not.

DH & I (early 50's) will be there with you. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. The first was the Western with just the two of us. Last Sept. my sister & brother-in-law joined us for the Eastern. We will be just the two of us again next Sept. My sister & brother-in-law are converts now! They have a 4 day booked for Dec. 09--taking their daughter & boyfriend along. I would love to take our children & grandchildren but its just so difficult to get everyone scheduled!
We have enjoyed both the Western & Eastern. I think I lean more towards the Eastern. I love the extra sea days!

Thank you for the welcome. I am so looking forward to the extra days at sea. I love watching the waves go by. I am looking forward to bringing DGrandDaughter on her first cruise but I am waiting until she is at least 4. (almost 2).
Christianweecare - what are the main differences between the Wonder and the Magic?
Fire14 - Did you also post on the passporter site?
Spectrum-Turbo - Where in Texas is the group from? We live in Keller a suburb of Fort Worth.
My philosophy on Disney Cruising (not that any of you asked) If you are not on a Disney cruise, you should be planning a disney cruise. Well should be picking up instead of chatting.

I have never been on the Wonder so I can't give an informed answer. We have only cruised on the Magic. From what I have read there are only a few differences. Some of the eating establishments and so forth carry different names. Also, some of the shows are different.

Welcome, Mal! Love, love, love your DIS name! :lmao: This cruise will also be our first on the Magic. We did the Land/Sea in December, 2007 and DH fell in love with cruising (he said that he would be a happy man if he could cruise for every vacation). I, on the other hand, still prefer the parks, so our compromise was to switch off every year. 2008 is our parks year and 2009 will be our cruise year (although I hope I can convince DH to add at least a couple days at the parks in 2009 - LOL). Anyway, welcome aboard! :goodvibes

Crystal, I've been meaning to ask; is it a costume your daughter is wearing in the pictures? Seeing them allways makes me wonder about the storie behind it.
About the difference between Wonder and Magic; isn't the decor also different?

Goofie - yes, indeed, that is a costume. I actually went a bit overboard last year in purchasing costumes for our trip, and purchased 2 pirate costumes. The one that she is wearing in my signature is Elizabeth Swann's "fancy" pirate costume from the 3rd Pirates movie. However, a few months after I bought that costume, Disney released a second Elizabeth Swann pirate costume which actually looked like a pirate costume, so I *had* to buy it. DH made me use the fancy pirate costume for Halloween (which is where those pictures came from) and I packed the second (real) pirate costume for our trip. Here is a picture of the pirate costume she actually wore on our cruise:

Hey there....let it be known that I go MIA from the Disboards from tome to time especially when DH starts making noises about too much time on the computer, etc.
Christianweecare - what are the main differences between the Wonder and the Magic?
.....
Spectrum-Turbo - Where in Texas is the group from? We live in Keller a suburb of Fort Worth.
Mal, we are all in the Austin area.
I can also address the question about the ship differences. there are three areas that I noticed a difference:
Restaurants are where the biggest differences are (and even then it's not startling differences) The Magic has Lumiere's and The Wonder has Tritons. Also, the buffets on 9 aft are Topsiders (Magic) vs Beach Blanket Buffet (Wonder). In both cases I don't think that there is a real difference in the food. Last year I was fortunate enough to sail on The Magic for a week and then turn around and get on The Wonder the very next day and I will tell you that Palo's had a pretty significant difference in menus both for dinner and brunch. I was told by The Wonder staff that The Magic would be switching their menu in the weeks following my trips, don't know if that ever came to pass.
Secondly, Ocean Quest, where tweens can go to hang out is in the Oceaneers Lab on The Wonder and is a separate entity all together on The Magic and is located on Deck 2.
Lastly, there are different murals in deck six mid-ship elevator lobby!! I don't recall exact the difference, but I do remember commenting that they were different.
Other than that as a passenger I didn't notice any other differences.

Love the picure of your daughter and Captain Hook it is so precious and I agree she is so precious.
Spectrum - turbo - appreciate the info - we did the palo dinner and the palo brunch both on the Wonder. I thought brunch was amazing and would like to do it on the Magic. Back to back cruises - that is probably my next dream.
I am watching the food network it is the disney pricess cake challenge - I am such a Disney Geek.
Probably should do some work but would rather "cruise" the boards

Mal, I miss that. Disney on the tv somewhere if you look for it. Overhere there is less attention for the disney theme and less tv-stations, so it's pretty much either a disney film or cartoon and that's it. And yeah, I find myself watching those more than once. Or twice, or ten times for that matter.
And what a great bunch of pics of your DGD. Especially the ones of the photoshot are great. The laughing one in the green dress just makes you want to take her home with you.
The brunch at Palo. I'm allready eagerly awaiting the day I can start trying to get a ressie. After seeing all of the pictures of it, it looks like a "I must do that, or I'll go mad". The great reviews only makes it more appealing. Has anybody done the High tea at Palo before?

:goodvibes Thanks for the compliments about my DD. She just celebrated her 4th birthday on March 26th, and I swear she gets more cool every single day.
I also wanted FN's princess cake challenge. What a disappointment, though. Usually, the chefs blow me out of the water (did you see the Disney Villains cakes?), but I wasn't really that awed by any of them (although I thought that the Cinderella cake should have gotten an honorable mention - that castle was incredible).

I also am going to try to do brunch (and dinner) at Palo. For our December, 2007 cruise, since we were first-time cruisers, when we booked at 75 days, Palo brunch was not available (but we did get dinner - which was incredible). I have no experience with High Tea, but I'm quite sure that anything related to Palo is always good.

Oh boy, that was not what I love to read. ;) I'm a first-timer this time around :goodvibes , and knowing how popular the brunch is on the DIS makes me assume it's going to be a bit of a lucky event to get a ressie at the 75-days mark. popcorn::

Thnx, You're right. We've got 3 see days to get those ressies. Should be a good shot, compaired to the other intineraries.
And if it doesn't happen, I guess I'll just have to do my own brunch, by using room service and eating it out on the balcony. :)

Thanks so much for the DGD compliments.
I have never done high tea but I sure am going to try it.

Mal, since you're a CC-member you can start making ressies for the High Tea at 90 days out, just like all of the other ressies. As a newbe I can start at 75 days out, and those in concierge or booking the REAS-package can start booking at 105 days. You're in a good spot with the 90 days. :)
I'm in the Netherlands. Overhere it's mostly Nickelodeon and stuff. :scared: Well, and a lot of Europe 'baby-tv' in the range of the Telletubbies. Most consequentl shot of Disney I get from the commercials telling you to book Disneyland Paris, and those are only on certain periods of time. And to be honest? DLP is nice, but no way near WDW!
Last night I had my first DCl dream. I dreamt I was about to board. :goodvibes I never made in on board though, the Southpark tunes woke me up. :headache: Only 17 more months to go before we can really board. :thumbsup2

Love the new name - So glad you will be cruising with us. 7 days of Disney Magic should be great. I called yesterday and upgranded to a verandah room. I think we are in 7118 or 7018. Already trying to figure out what kind of door sign to use and of course desperately trying to lose weight so I can fit into some slinky black number for formal night. 3 weeks until our magic kingdom trip. Has anyone looked at the navigators online - this cruise looks great. Hope everyone is doing well - thanks for writing.

Hi Thumper! Nice to meat yet another fellow cruiser. :) Where are you guys going in May? Uptill now the prices haven't gone up to bad with DCL and enough TA's out there still got the tier1 price, so hopefully you'll be able to still book a nice quote.
Mal, we'll be on the same deck and if you've got 7118, we'll actually be pretty close. You decided to upgrade (congrats!!!), while I decided to downgrade. It saves me $700,- and I just couldn't justify that difference. The single supplement is killing. Anyhow, now I'm in 7631.
Were did you see the navigators? I've seen some of the western, but not of the eastern. I'm so liking this intinerary! I've always wanted to do the dutch antilles one day and now I will. Also the 3 days on sea is a bonus if you ask me. I doubted about cruising a week later (so going on my actual birthday), but that would be a western cruise. I doubted about cruising earlier, so hopefully I could do a couple of days WDW with free dining before the cruise (FD tends to end a week before our cruisedate). But again; either the western or an eastern without the antilles. Nop, this is the only intinerary for at least the first cruise!
I'm glad I'm not the only one going a bit overboard with thinking about all kinds of little stuff allready. I like you. You're pre-fun-crazy enough to make me believe it's not out of the ordinary at all. ;)

I am so excited about this cruise!! :yay:
Goofieslonglostsis - thanks for the welcome! :goodvibes Mal's family and my family are meeting up at WDW in May for our first trip as DVC members. I actually gave up a cruising this year so DH would buy into DVC. My oldest boy is in the Army and we haven't seen him in almost a year now. I am really excited about seeing him.
i guess I'd better get back to work..gotta pay for WDW somehow!!

And oldest son back after so long, that must really be a Special trip. Only one more month to count down.

Thumper08 -
Sorry you have to go back to work to pay for Disney. You should do what I did get your best friend to join DVC and invite you to go with them. (told you I was a genius ) Hope you liked the ticker for our WDW trip.
Goofiessis - had to shorten the name as I can never quite remember the appropriate way to spell it - I love the planning part of the disney cruise - I will look at menus, navigators, read books, make door signs, buy stuff - like suntan lotion - have drinks out of my Disney cruise line glass and almost any other thing I can think of to get myself in the cruising spirit. One of my favorite things is the door signs. Thumper08 DH made us a cd of our last disney cruise and put it to music it was awesome - Anyway chat as much as you like about the planning. http://www.*****************/ has the seven day navigators and lots of other great info. So glad we will be on the same floor - I can't believe none of your friends wants to go on a disney cruise with you. Well better go

Mal, you ARE a genius!
(hmm, maybe I shouldn't have 'invited' my parents for a normall WDW trip, but for a DVC-buy, darned that's a missed chance)
My nick is too long. It's fitting, but to long to keep having to type. You can call me Jacqui if you wish.
Oh hang on a sec, you mean the castaway cay club site? (they keep editing the url) Hmm, I must have been looking with my eyes in my pocket than. I've been on there a couple of times and didn't look at them yet.
Do you get the weird looks also if other people find out you like the pre-fun and planning? People look at me like I'm crazy if I check out the changes on WDW-menus. They think I'm totally nuts for checking months in advance, let alone check menus of a cruise for 2009 allready.
Oh, friends want to come, but you know what it's like with people. Haven't got time, it costs too much, cruise is great but dísney? That's for kids, yadieya. Well that's their loss. They'll probably gasp over the pictures and stories again as they did with the WDW-trip.

LOL- I, too, get the "weirdo" looks from people who just don't understand that planning a Disney trip is half the fun (I mean, we have to do something to keep ourselves occupied, right?). ;) The girls at work all think that I'm crazy for having my itinerary reduced to a spreadsheet for our upcoming September, 2008 trip to the parks. Oh well, stuff like that is fun for ME (which probably does make me a bit of a weirdo - LOL).
We actually have friends who are joinins us on this to cruise (although I haven't yet convinced them about the wonders of The DIS - maybe soon they will be posting here), and we are trying to convince another set of friends to join us as well. However, the second family that is still "on the fence" because they are a family of 5 and would have to book a Cat. 4. :scared1:  So, anyway, it sounds as if our ship is going to filled with some uber-cool people.

Ah, another spreadsheet user. Sounds familiar. ;)
If you ask me, DCL should give you a discount for filling up cabin by cabin. You're working for them for free. ;)
The second family, isn't it an option for them to do 2 connecting lower cat staterooms? If I remember correctly that's a cheaper way to go than one cat. 4 and it would give them the benefit of 2 bathrooms. I can feel their financial 'pain'. It's harder if you're not within the 2-4 standard range. Hopefully they'll find an option that is doable for them.

I feel bad because I don't have a spreadsheet. I'd probably just lose it. Then I would get stressed because we were not following the proscribed program at the right time. (I have control issues - my confession is good for the soul.)
I am also looking forward to it I am a little nervous about the tendering - never should have read the thread about all the awful things that happen on the cruise ship.

How are you all doing?
Thumper, you are one lucky 'bunny' alright! :) Saratoga Springs sounds great, never been there yet unfortunately.
Mal; that's what back ups are for. Oh, and prints. Does it sound like have experience in losing something or having the computer?
I don't book times ahead of time (other than ADR's) though. I'll book a dayprogram and that's it. But than again, I haven't done DCL yet, so I might find myself starting to do a timeprogram for the cruise.
Lol, that thread is a good one! I like reading it. I'm not too worried about tendering issues. I doubt it's a good option to tender with my powerchair and since 'll be going solo it isn't an option to go ashore with just my manual chair. So either I'll be going ashore when they dock or I'll be enjoying a quite ship almost all to myself.
The thing that makes me get itches is being overly worried about flying in. I'm flying in a day early anyway since my flightoptions tend to arrive at MCO at 6 pm or later, but what if weather interferes? I'll have to switch flights, I'll be flying from one continent to the other so even just one big weatherproblem in either region and I might have a big problem. Sounds pretty controlfreakish, he?
Well, back to work it is! I've got enough to do this week and a meeting tonight to prepare for so I'ld better start doing it.

You know, pricing it for two lower connecting categories might just be the thing. I just looked at the pricing again a few days ago and the price for a Cat. 4 jumped up by $1,000. In two weeks. Holy cow, right?!?

I have to admit that I, too, am worried about transportation issues. We typically drive to Orlando (from Atlanta) but I'm thinking that flying may be better for us for the cruise (of course, if we have a set return flight, that will make it harder for me to convince DH to spend a few days at the parks when we get off the cruise). Hmmmm, decisions, decisions. :sad2:

Hey all! My DH and I will be joining you on the Magic for our first Disney Cruise! I swore I'd never go on a big boat (we have Titanic issues in my family...) but here we are! Don't think there will be any icebergs at Castaway Cay! ^.~
Well, we're both early 20s and by the time the cruise rolls around we'll be married for over 3 years. Our two (fur)children will be staying home with the grandparents!
Husband is most looking forward to Palo (he works at a high end restaurant and is a total foodie) and I am psyched for PIRATE NIGHT! I have been a Pirate 3 years running and actually have Pirate ancestors, so this is my kind of party!
Looking forward to planning/chatting for the next 17 months!

Welcome to the thread. So glad you will be joining us. My husband loves pirate night and he gets really into it. It is so much fun. I have issues over everything the ship just feels so safe. I had to start with the 3 day to see if I could handle it. This is my fourth Disney Cruise (first 7 day)

We are going to *try* to make a fish extender for this cruise. We were going to do it when we cruised in December, 2007 but I just couldn't find the right fabric. I'm hopeful that I will find just the right thing (since I only have about 17 months in which to prepare - LOL). :rolleyes1 DH is the creative force in our household, but he has just been slammed at work (he owns his own business). Between getting our scrapbook autograph made (ahem, started) for our upcoming September trip generally putting up with my fretting about plans, I think asking him to think about a fish extender would put him over the edge - LOLOLOLOL!

Sometimes you've got those days were you think you must be dreaming. I've got such a day today. Totally unknown to all of us, some relatives living on the other side of the globe decided to come visit Europe. So out of nowhere I had them standing in front of my door. I can tell you, it was just as surprising as to see Mickey himself at your frontdoor when you totally don't expect him. :goodvibes The Big Mouse kinda was here also. In the mail there was something from 'disney destinations'. Boy oh boy, a PIN? Hurry, open up, what can it be? Looks like Mickey has a bit of a concussion or something. He sent me 3 sgned postcards, all with the message on them 'we're glad you're here'. Well, I would love to be at WDW at this moment! :) But I'm not. :headache: Oh well, at least I've got Mickey and the gang to look at. :cool2:

Yeah, "Administrative Professionals" day is just the politically correct-way of saying Secretary's Day - LOL. :sad2: Do you all have the P.C. issues on that side of the world or is it just the good old U.S.A. that worries so much about such silliness?!? Oh well, at least I got lunch out of the deal - - my bosses can call me whatever they want so long as they feed me. :rotfl:
I hope you enjoy your visit with your relatives!

A_L, thank for explaining! Never ever seen anything like it, but I think I like it!. :)
Crystal; please do post the instructions.
We're less P.C. than the US of A, but we're getting worse. We tend to be about a decade or something behind on you guys with a lot of stuff, so this is no exception. For instance the good old word of 'housekeeper' is a big nono by now. They're called 'interieur professionals' now. I mean; come on! :lmao: We're becoming less and less of the liberal 'wild west' we used to be. Allthough we're no way near as 'liberal' as Foxx tends to portray us. Down side of being behind on some things; no Wallmart, no Target, no nothing of that kind. :scared: Could you imagine the feeling of 'I've gone to heaven', the first time I walked into one of those in Australia. :worship:
An employer feeding you is always good. :cloud9: My old employer did the same thing. Almost each friday we'ld all decide on which take out to get and munch at lunch at the expenses of the boss. :rolleyes1
Hoping you guys will have just as much sun as we do here at the moment. We all will need it, with still 17 months of countdown to go before some serious great weather. (knock on wood). :cloud9:

Thanks for carrying the torch on this. It would be great if Fire14 could edit the first post and add the roll call.
Also, we should add our family info so that we know who all is cruising.
Here is mine: Me (Bigferrell), DW, DD 14, DD 12, DS 8, DS 8
Oh, BigFerrell, I just realized that I misspelled your name in the list. I worked with a guy for 5 years whose last name was Farrell - I guess my fingers just worked without my brain present. I'll edit my original post and hopefully Fire14 will pick up the change as well. Sorry 'bout that.

I have one and planning on doing it one way or another. :)

Have you guys tried the Conch Cooler at CC? Yum!
In St. Maarten and in St thomas we dock and are able to walk off of the ship. There are pictures on wdwinfo.com of the ship and the ports.

Ahhhhh, Bigferrell, I just viewed your entire slideshow - you have some fabulous pictures on there. They soooooo took me back to our trip on the Wonder. *Sigh* After we cruised, DH told me that he would be perfectly happy cruising for every vacation that we ever took. I (of course) scoffed at the notion of missing my dear Disney parks, but I'm starting to rethink that sentiment. Since we're off work for 2 weeks for our upcoming September trip, we're doing the parks for 9 days - - I'm thinking we can sneak in a 3-Day cruise - LOL? It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission, right? ;)
I hope all of the mothers out there have a wonderful Mother's Day!!! :grouphug:

Good morning everyone. I have a couple more questions for you bigferrell. On St Martin DW and I want to do the Under Two Flags Island Tour we had some friends tell us this is a nice tour. Have you ever done this excursion? What did you and you family do while you where there? Then on St Thomas we are not sure what if any excurions that we want to do. DW and here friend want to shop. When they heard about a choc. store on 1 of the island not sure if they will get pass it. I want to go into the casinos on St Martin. Not sure if there are any on St Thomas? We did not care for Nassau. We do go into it but not to long. The last time we where on the Wonder and got off in Nassau . This guy wanted to braid my hair and give me a tattoo in the same chair :scared1: For 1 my hair is not that long and 2 I don`t want a tattoo. Then 1/2 of a block from the boat guy wanted us to taxi back to the boat,he said we look beat. :rotfl: We heading to WDW friday morning and I we can hardly wait. Will be in the park for 8 days.:woohoo: Back to the islands what should we stay clear of on the islands ? I quess that is it for now, will think of more after I get off of here.

I agree with you on Nassau; we weren't impressed.
We have been on three Disney cruises but have not yet done this itenerary with St Martin and St. Thomas. Do you guys have a passporter? That is what we use as our solid source of info.
Also try:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-ports.htm
As far as shopping goes; I recommend going to the shopping presentation on the ship the day before port. They give the best places to go and last week they gave coupons, gifts and prizes. Just look at the Navigator and it will tell you when. Looks like the chocolate place is called the "Belgian Chocolate Box". Check out a sample Navigator here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/DCL-Navigators/1-05-08-ec/pages/St%20Maarten%20Shopping%20Pg3.htm

How and when do I make dining reservations? Am I able too? We would do the early dine as we have 2 kids.(DS will be 9 and DS will be 6). We booked through a travel agent, do I tell them or is this something I do? We would also do the fish extender thingy as well. Just gotta get one and what do you put into said extender? Stuff from your state or things that are common where you live? We also will be doing Palo after all we will be celebrating our 10yr.

Your dining rotation is assigned to you by DCL. You can request early or late dining thru your TA.
Your Palo ressie you can book once cruise is paid off and 75 days prior to sailing you log into disney cruise website and one of areas you can fill out cruise contract, cc info, register kids for clubs, book excusions etc.
as for fish extender you can put whatever you please in them I'm thinking of doing Stickers, ink pens, Some kind of small gift in mine. you could do something from your state if you choose. Once cruise gets closer I'll start list of who's doing and what cabin they are in.
Be sure and have TA note on your Ressie you are elebrating 10th annv. On our last cruise we got a special dessert one night, A special gift in state room and were seated with other celebrating annv.

Ok for anyone who doesn't know how to book things:
Go to www.disneycruise.com (http://www.disneycruise.com)
You will need to log in using your disney site id, if you don't have one there is place to sign up
once logged in click my disney cruise on right top of page
once page loads you can see bunch of buttons on left side
click cruise plans
you will than need to type in dcl ressie # and birthdate of lead person on ressie
once your cruise is paid off and your booking window is open (75 Day new cruise/90 day repeat cruiser) there are buttons to book shore excusions, palo, etc.
I hope this helps anyone who needed it. You can also check on your cabin number etc thru this area by choosing my reservation instead of cruise plans.

LOL - DH nixed the 3-Day cruise idea. Actually, since the Wonder leaves on Thursdays and Sundays, we would have to either extend our trip by a day (as we check out on Wednesday) or knock 3 days off and leave on Sunday. I just don't think it's in the cards this year.
As to our WDW trip this year, YES, we are most definitely staying at the Poly. We stayed there last year during our Land/Sea and we fell in love not only with the resort itself, but with the convenience of the monorail. I'm so excited!!!!

Got back from amazing Disney World trip several magical moments really amazing. Welcome to all the new people so glad you have joined this wonderful group. We are Brent and Cheryl from Keller Texas. I will be over the age of 51 when we travel - 50th birthday 8/8/08 Yippee Skippee! DH- Brent four years younger - I either robbed the cradle or raised him up right which ever you prefer. I never thought I could enjoy anything more than WDW until I cruised with Disney. Have done other cruise lines with mixed results. I love Disney cruises and I am already buying princess dresses for DGD. (2 tomorrow) We are doing Palo's brunch and high tea. If any of you would like our tickets for the character breakfast we will not be going. My guess is my best friend in the whole world - Thumper08 - and her dh will not be using theirs either that will be four extra tickets.
Got some great news be son in law will be back in Navy SEAL training sooner than expected. He had some injuries and had to sit out for a while. That is a real answer to prayer as my DD is pregnant with number 2 and we did not know if he would be in the states. Now because of his training he will be definitely be stateside when the baby is born. Anyway so much to say, missed talking to everyone - so glad to have new people join us and hope everyone has had a little magic the past couple of weeks.
Best to all

Oh, Mal, I'm so jealous that you just got back (September can't come soon enough). I truly hope that your vacation was wonderful and magical! I just have to tell you that I had to laugh when I saw the date of your birthday because DH and I are hoping to renew our vows at Disney World (YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY) and the date of our 15th anniversary is 12/12/12. *Sigh* I can't wait to get the DVD from Disney weddings.

I also would love to participate in this. Since we're from Atlanta, Georgia, I was thinking about getting something Atlanta-related to give as our little gifts (although the one thing that Atlanta is really known for - - the traffic - - I would not wish on anyone). Too fun!

See page 175 to see where everyone is staying Pre-Cruise.....
Deadline for signing up is Monday June 15, 2009. Names will be put into a hat and drawn from there. No changes as this gets to complicated. If children would like to sign up, we will have a separate hat for them.
Secret Mickey Reveal will be on Thursday October 1 at 2:30pm in the Promenade Lounge. Be sure to be there and find out who your Secret Mickey was so you can thank them for all your goodies!!
Lanyards and Name Cards - PM Sftnslky, Maggie62677 or lexiconjoe with your name, DIS name and how many you want to order. Let us know if you need one for a child and how many. We will look into getting shorter ones for the children.Deadline for signing up is Monday June 15, 2009
Wristbands - Please contact Spectrum-Turbo if you would like to sign up for a wristband. Design to be determined.
Please PM Disney Sweetie or Fire14 and we will add you to the FE list. Deadline for signing up is Monday June 15, 2009 Names highlighted in RED are participating in the FE.
PJ Breakfast - Lumieres on October 2, 2009 at 8am. Group photo to be taken. Contact Fire14 if you will be attending. Deadline for signing up is Monday June 15, 2009

Ok guys.....I just added everyone to the list but realized that this had already been started. Please accept my apologizes as I did not mean to take over what had already been done by someone else.
I did put an FE by the ones I know had said they were doing the Fish Extender.
If you would like for me to add to my list with your names, cabin numbers, state and if you are doing a FE, just PM me.

Welcome Pam!
You can add me to the fish extender list. At the moment I've got cabinnumber 7631. (still not giving up hope of being able to upgrade to 6654 ;) )
Crystal, it just goes to show yet again that great minds think alike. :goodvibes ;) I was thinking the same thing, although you'ld have to replace the Atlanta-part for a Netherlands-part.
Bring me some Dutch Chocolate and some klompens.

Be carefull what you wish for with the klompen. Before you know it, you'll have to walk around CC on a wooden pair. :rotfl2:
Chocolate, don't even get me started, drool! I've got a fridge full of it :cloud9: (gotta love all those people that don't bring healthy stuff when your in the hospital, but the good stuff :goodvibes ) but aren't allowed to eat it yet. Talk about torture.
Our chocolate aint bad though. :thumbsup2 Nothing can beat real belgian chocolate, but we sure are in the top 10.
Disneydreamin; upgrading, great for you! What cruise are you doing in october?
I just mailed our TA so she can make our ADR's for our december WDW trip, finally the 180-day window came up. Nice and all and it sure hightens the excitement about wanting to hit that 45-day window so I can try to get my hands on a Palo brunch ressie. :cool1:

PS; weird possibly stupidish question coming up; what is the scoop on different flavors of tea? I mean the hot version, not icetea. I've seen all kinds of herbal flavors available at WDW, so those would probably also be available on DCL. But how about fruit flavors? Are those available in the US at all? If not, I'll just have to take some of my own bags.

I recall seeing a big "box" of teas offered at some point during our cruise (Palo, maybe??) so I have to assume that there is a selection of teas onboard. And, yes, fruity teas are definitely available in the U.S. *Sigh* I wish I could make myself drink tea. It's so much more healthy than Diet Coke.

As we tend to say; you must have been hit in the head by a windmill one time too many, which would also explain you living Holland. ;) Just think about the look on the TSA-guy checking my luggage and finding a dozen pair of klompen in there. :lmao:
Disneydreamin; the 4-day, not bad. If I could, I would hide in your suitcase. :goodvibes
Do you guys know that feeling of wanting something, getting it, but not getting the 'right one'? About 3 weeks ago or so I got a pincode from disney destinations. Woohoo, 40% off! Darned thing just didn't fit our december trip but was for april and such. And today I get another pincode. And yet again; 40% but not usable, as it is for august and september. I love that the pincode-fairy seems to know to find my email adresses (came in different addresses), but boy oh boy, I want one for december. Come on pincode-fairy, 3 times is a charm?

I'll be crossing my fingers for you, Hon! Since you first got one for April and then for August/September, perhaps Disney is now gearing up for a December pin-code release? Anyway, best of luck!! pixiedust:

Hey all! We are planning to do the fish extender too...I thought someone said list would be started closer to the cruise so I missed this!
We are in room 6582.
Are we doing any kind of theme for the gifts?
BTW, I think we need to come up with a cruise name/logo! I've seen other groups with really cute ones. I'd be happy to put some possible logos or graphics together once we have decided on a name!

A group logo would be cute IMO. I stated I'd do a FE list closer to cruise. As for Theme I was going to see what kind of cute things caught my eye.

A logo/name would be great, if you ask me. No inspiration here yet, though.
I don't know if we're going with a theme? I've decided to go with a dutch theme. Enough to pick from and I kinda like it to play a small version of Epcots World Showcase on DCL. :rolleyes1

Love the picaroon pirates capturing the caribbean. I know the trip will get here sooner than we know but right now the days just seem to be crawling by. So glad Thumper08 has made reservations. Are most of you eating early dinner or late dinner. We have always done late - but I am thinking about early - Just don't know. I am wondering how much weight I can lose so I can gain it all on the cruise. Well - heading off to Austin in the morning for 2 days of hearings. So I guess I should get ready. Hope everyone is doing well
Best to all

Another vote for you favorite!!!
Mal, I've got early diner rotation. Not only am I used to eating around 6 pm, but to start somewhere around 8/8.30? That would mean your not finished until 9.30 or later? :scared1: That would mean feeling like a stuffed turkey when I go to bed! And not to mention running the risk of eating a snack too many before diner and not having the space for a diner I would've loved. No, I'm more of the 'eat early, so I can have a 'late' night snack while on vacation'-type.
Weight, hmm don't even want to think about that one! Allthough, after 9 days of WDW I came home lighter and ate like a horse. :confused3 And it's not like I get the walk-it-of-excersise. :rotfl: I think I've lost enough weight (about 20 pounds) in hospital last month to be on the safe side for pigging out on the cruise, but knowing me it'll be back on even before our WDW-trip. ;) Good luck in Austin!

As to a theme, I was all set during our December cruise to find some festive and merry Disney-related Christmas fabric but was unable to do so. :( So, this time, I think I'm just going with tropical fabric (hopefully with some Disney flair). YAY!! :hyper:
Also, we opted for early dining for this cruise, which really worked well for us on our December cruise. I liked having the evening entertainment to look forward to after our meals.

Crystal, I can understand you guys doing the early dining. Especially with your DD I would think that would be the best option. Not too late for her to be sleepy and she can go to the shows in her pj if she wants to. Which -then- 5-year old wouldn't want to walk around in public in their pj's for once? I know I would. ;)
Today my tax return came in and it seems like somebody decided I've been very patriotic the last year. That or very deserving. Which, I don't care! Combine that with the new knowledge that my next trip after the cruise will be one to australia somewhere in 2011 (so no use in rebooking on board) and that just 'of course' had to lead to me upgrading. And heck, after almost a month in hospital, I deserve it. And a lot more of those excuses. :rolleyes1 Just mailed my TA, so hopefully there will still be an accessible cat 6 available. :worship:

:yay: Hi, we just got back last night from our June 8th Mexico cruise, we re-booked on board for Sept 26, got a great deal, and the $200 obc is a cool thing, and once DCL has our reservations we will transfer to DU for an additional $100 per cabin...which we have 2 [connecting] so a total of $600 will be super duper!!! This time around we had $300 total for our two cabins, and we spent it all, so doubling that is going to be awesome!! ::yes:: We did the Western in Sept of 06 and REALLY did not care for it, so we are hoping that the Eastern will be more to our liking. :thumbsup2 Well am looking forward to learing more about all of you...Oh guess you should know who is going...

DD will be 13 at time of sailing
DD will be just shy of 11 by the time of sailing
Twin DS's will be 8 1/2 at time of sailing.
Also going will be DBINLAW [dear brother in law] and on the fence is DBINLAW's GF and his Sister and her Boyfriend and DH's two sisters and their families.

My DDs will be 13 and 12 and my DSs will be 8 and 9 when we cruise. Looks like they will have some friends to hang out with!

Hello! We will be on this cruise too. It will be me, DH, DD 7, & DS 4. We are so excited. I saw the pic of the fish extender - how exactly does this work? Do you put small gifts in them & disboarders take them or ??? Thanks! :yay:

The fish extender is something you hang outside your stateroom on the little fish (some recommend ziptie-ing them so they don't "swim" away). Everyone in your exchange will at some point leave something in it for you, and you would in turn leave something in everyone else's. Some people do one thing, some people do everyday (yikes! That's a lot!) some people do it whenever some do it on a swap schedule, it all depends on your cruise board. (Can you tell I read to many threads? ^.~) I'm already starting to think about what we'll be giving out!
Cruise board logo on page 10 feel free to use it! I hope everyone likes it...

We did the fish extender gifts...and decided to only do it for the week days..mon-fri, and mostly for only the kids... but in all honesty we had 17 cabins with a total of 26 kids...so it was over 100 small gifts.. but most of them were small little things..like homemade magnets for the day it was...ie... a pirate magnet with the words... Pirate Life for me on it... so you would put it on your door for Pirate night..lol and of course sickers, one dis'er made personalised journals with matching disney pins for all the kids... they all LOVED them. The list goes on and on..I can't wait to start buying for all of our cruise. :goodvibes

Hello everyone.
Lokks like from reading the loast two pages there are lots of us in Cat 6. Just DH (Carl) and me (Jan) on this cruise cabin 6596.
Well done Goofielonglostsis for paying off yours this early. We are still getting the last lot of money together for our Xmas disney trip !!.
Nice to see so many posters on this thread.

Woo-Hoo - you go girl! We always wait until the very last minute to pay ours off. I figure that Disney gets enough of our money that we should try and hold on to as much of it for as long as possible. :rotfl: Have a great day, everyone!

Sure sounds like it, Jan! It'll be a blast on deck 6. :yay:
Lol, this is even paying it off 'late'. Overhere if you book anything? You pay in full for it, that same minute. (also no more changing anything, can you imagine? ) So Disneys and DCL's policy is like, well, financial heaven or something? Having it payed off makes me feel more at ease, especially with still enough things that'll need to be payed for, for the cruise. I'm living on a sort of disability pay so still having 15 months to safe up for the rest is very welcome. :)
And besides; the sooner everything is payed off, the sooner I can start saving for a next trip! :rolleyes1

:yay: Hi, everyone I'm so excited I went to transfer our reservations to DU and noticed they were offering double obc so I decided to see just how much DCL would charge us to upgrade... We originally booked connecting cabins 2122 & 2124, and orginally when I called DCL they came back with a pretty steep increase..:scared1: But I asked them if I could still get my castaway member discount, and if I could also keep my 10% discount for on-board booking AND figuring I had nothing to loose I told them when we booked on board their was also a speical that the per person deposit was half off...another words $125 per person and I didn't want to pay an additional $125 to make it the normal $250 and last but not least, I WANTED/NEEDED to keep my $200 per cabin stateroom credit.
After a long pause..he said "ok, let me check". After about 4 minutes he came back on the line and said "Ok, you got it all!!" :faint: Oh gosh that is super exciting. So in a nut shell, we still get to keep all we had, but now we have connecting verandah staterooms 6620 & 6622 for only an additional $126 per person from what we were already paying. And the best part of all, I transferd my reservations to DU and they are giving us an additional $200 per stateroom credit, for a grand total of $800 for the two cabins. We have never ever had verandah staterooms before and I can't wait. I am super excited, not only about the extra $$$ to spend, but being able to have fresh air, and sit outside and just watch the world/ocean go by in private. :hyper: Hope you all have a great Thursday.

I hope everyone in the States had a great 4th of July. We just cooked out with some friends and blew off some fireworks. Tonight we'll be headed to one of our local parks to get more firework action (although it's hard to even view other fireworks that are not Wishes fireworks). Anyway, I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

DH and I decorate our door for every day of the cruise. I'm not too creative so I keep it simple if you check out my pics at the bottom it may give you some ideas. Fish extender gifts, I have already started buying some small dollar items for kids. Love the idea ... Hope everyone has been well, welcome to all the new comers - This should be a wonderful time What's not to enjoy

For those even poundering the idea of upgrading to a suite; there is an offer in the latest Mousesavers newsletter that would mean one gets a lot more OBC when booking a suite. Might be interesting for some people.

Things are just rolling along here. We're really starting to gear up for our trip in September - - making shirts, scrapbook autograph pages, a countdown calendar, etc. We also are doing some minor home improvements projects, so that's keeping us busy. Oh, and I also came down with a cold yesterday and have been so sick and achy and miserable (especially since I job-share and only work part time so I have to be at work). UG - - send me some healthy vibes, guys. Take care! :goodvibes

Great, good to hear you got rid of the cold. Colds should be forbidden in summer! They should be forbidden in winter also, but first let's start with summer. How's the planning for september going?
Overhere things are a tad bit crazy. I'm trying to hold down the fort for both of my volunteer jobs. Seems like I'm the only one not going on a holiday during the summer. Normally not a problem, but somehow this year clients are coming out of everywhere to book our theatre for upcoming season(job1) and ofcourse want to know everything about all the things I normally know nothing about ;) . And even weirder; it is summer, almost all of political and legislative (spelling) stuff is in recess but we somehow keep getting new reports to read up on and respond to asap (job 2).
And to make things worse on myself, I'm going back and forth about the cruise. I don't know what happened, but ever since I discovered WDW and the DIS I've become infected with changeritus. Right now the planning is the 7-day St Maarten cruise started of with a day or 2 (perhaps 3 if budget is really friendly this year?) at WDW in a deluxe. Great! But a longer stay at WDW and combine two deluxes I've allways been drooling over is also great. If I did a 4-day cruise instead of the 7-day, I could stay at a deluxe for almost a week. I keep coming up with pros and cons of the both, so it'll be interesting to see what I decide.

Totally agree with you about summer colds - - I'm just thankful that my 4 year old DD didn't contract whatever I had (though she probably gave it to me in the first place - LOL).
I just have to say: your jobs sound very interesting, especially the theatre - - of course, anything beats suing people for a living - LOL!
About your cruise, I understand what you are going through. We did the 3 day land/4 day sea last year and, although we did have a wonderful vacation, we vowed we'd never do a "split" vacation again. However, since you can't very well hop in the car and drive to Disney World, your situation is certainly a bit different than ours.
Really, for me, the only drawback to doing another 4 day (or 3 day) cruise is Nassau - what a dump that place was. However, if you were doing a long Disney parks vacation with a cruise added for fun, I think that a 3 or 4 day would be ideal. What is the price difference if you opt for a Moderate hotel and an inside stateroom? Could you do the 7 day cruise *and* 7 days at the parks then? Now, to me, THAT would be an ideal vacation. ;)
Anyway, good luck with planning. I'll tell you what: I never realized that planning a vacation could be so much fun. We leave for Disney in a mere 47 days and I can't wait!!!!

Suing people could be fun I guess. Especially people that deserve it. ;) Probably The Big has given the bug to you but has become resistant herself with all of the colds etc. kids catch.
The theatre sounds 'more' than it is. It's a combination of a community center and a local theatre. Pretty big and 'wow' when it comes to the techniques we use compared to other volunteer theatres, but nothing compared to the real deals. We have about 30/40 nights per year filled with shows and stuff, varying from an occational pretty big name to the 'graduationshow' at the end of the kids theatre course. But it is fun, especially the shows for kids.
The land-sea package has always sounded like 'nothing of either' to me. Too short at WDW and too short of a cruise to totally relax from the buzzing at WDW and really enjoy the cruise. Nassau doesn't attract me either, but the cruising itself would make up for it. ;)
I must warn you, I'm a snob. I've decided that whatever I will do for the 2009 trip, I want it to have something big 'wow'. I've done mod. before, we're doing it again this december (14 days :) ), I'm afraid it would feel a bit like 'nice, but been here, done this, doesn't blow me away'. Same thing with an inside cabin. Somehow now that I've got the ressie for a cat 6, it feels like I would be picking a 'second best' when going for the inside. And the price difference between cat 6 and cat 8 is so relatively little, it's not really worth it.
Mainly the choices (haha, might change again!) are narrowed down to;
- the sept 26th cruise + 2 day (maybe 3 if lucky??) at AKL beforehand
- a week at AKV followed by a 4-day DCL
- a week at AKV followed by a week at BWV (or other way around) and perhaps one/two nights really splurging it something big somewhere (concierge or monorail??)
As you said; with flying in from this distance it does influence choices. And with me having just gotten an AP as a present (whohoo!), it would be smarter money wise to do a longer WDW-trip in 2009 and cruise on a later date than vice versa. Basically I'm having the toddler-problem; I don't wanna pick, I want them all! (well, just option one and three are ok also ;) )
Planning for disney is always fun :) but I've never had so many doubts and 'oh, want to do that also'.
When you check in in less then 7 weeks, wave to Kona for me and tell them they'ld better still have the crabcakes on the menu when we get there in december! ;)

Hey folks, I'll be paying my deposit in the morning (whoops it's already the morning! What am I doing up this late?)
We are at cruise date:
Me (34)
DW (33)
DD1 (10)
DD2 (8)
DD3 (5)
We're booked for cabin #8036. I don't know if that's a good thing or not, but my TA said it was so...
I was curious if anyone's kids wanted to exchange a few emails with one of my DD's. It'd be neat if they could have a friend or two or three to look forward to meeting before they even got on board. My oldest recently got her own (heavily monitored) email address, but she really only has people like me to email so it isn't as exciting for her right now. PM me if you think that's a good idea. Of course, that would mean telling them about it much sooner than expected, but why should I be the only one to suffer with so much anticipation?
Lastly, how can I change my user name to something more disneyish? I used the log-on I usually use for boards, but now I feel out of place.
Anyway, looking forward to the cruise. Now lets hope that my annual bonus isn't affected by the economy too much so I can actually go. :rolleyes1
Later,

Did you check out the deckplans yet? 8036 is midship. Have a look at; http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-deckplans.htm# (you can click on the desired deck and it'll give you a bigger pop up)
As far as changing your username, I think it's best to ask one of the moderators. On most boards you're not able to do it yourself, only the webmaster. You'll need a minimum amount of posts (I think 10 or 15) to be able to sent a PM, so an other option is to check out the WelcomeToTheDis-board ( http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=83 ) or the TechnicalSupport-board. ( http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=43 )

Well, let me just tell you that starting with a Deluxe for our first onsite trip is exactly our problem too. We stayed at the Poly last year and fell.in.love with the convenience of the Monorail. DH wouldn't even consider a non-Monorail resort for our September trip. So, I understand what you are saying about feeling like you were stepping down - I know I would feel the same way (although I'm trying, trying, trying to get DH to agree to a cheapie February, 2009 trip and stay at a Value. Same thing with the cruise: DH said he'd rather not cruise than to not have a verandah (which is silly because we spent so little time on our verandah in December). :sad2:
If I were in your shoes, I'd keep this cruise and just hope for a room discount code for AKL and hopefully save enough to do 4+ days there.

I must admit, I was just a tad bit surprised to read that you guys are bouncing back to the Poly. After reading your trip report (and how you mentioned mwah about the darkness of the decor of the rooms) I was assuming you might have wanted to try out another mono-resort. But than again, having Kona right at your doorstep.... what a luxery that is!!!
I think I have made up my mind. I think. I'm going to bug you guys around on the cruise :woohoo: and do 5 or 6 days at WDW. I'm going to look into renting points, that way a 5 or 6 day stay at the BWV would be doable. (and cheaper than the 30% bounceback offer)

But than again, having Kona right at your doorstep.... what a luxery that is!!!
Well, the only reason we re-booked the Poly was because the Contemporary was only $30.00 (or maybe $50.00) cheaper than the Poly and I *really* wasn't a fan of the decor at the Contemporary. We didn't even inquire about how much it would be to stay at the GF, and I kick myself around the BLOCK for not even asking the CM. I think that we could have probably gotten into the GF for just a few hundred more, and that would have made me one happy girl. Of course, to be fair, we were soooooo rushed during our Land/Sea that I really didn't have a chance to *really* experience the Poly. I'm hoping with this trip, I'll see what the die-hard Poly fans see.
Oh, forgot to add: glad you've decided on keeping the cruise. I think that your plan of renting points will work out VERY well!

That little difference between the both? I can understand your decision! The Cont somehow doesn't do it for me either. The monorail is great, as is the themepark view but the resort itself? G, now isn't that a dream resort? If I ever marry a rich guy...... ;)
I'll hope along for you that you'll see the same thing as the poly die-hard.
So far, I've got the same thing about the Poly. Only seen it as a visitor, but it came across as so dark and buildings a bit old/run down. And was it just me or was the main building very noisy? Like the landscaping there though. :) But I can understand your feelings about the three. I'm all pro GF but don't even want to hear the price, knowing I'll die from stickershock. And with me hoping to do a monorail stay one day, that would make it expensive. ;)

It looks like I might be staying at AKV for 4 days before the cruise. :goodvibes If budget allows it (there is a small chance my wheelchair insurance might be a substantial amount cheaper -maybe even 2 nigths deluxe worth!- than I budgetted for. So :wizard: come my way!) there will be at least 2 other nights at a deluxe added to that. And believe it or not after my previous posting, but the Poly is growing on me after seeing the pics! :lmao:

I really want to stay @ the Poly or GF pre-cruise- but my mom loves animals- as do I!!! I just love being close to the castle! LOL. So- AKL it is for us! Hopefully in a savannah view- there is just something about watching the animals eat their breakfast while we eat ours! Have a great day all!

Frankiesmom, I agree with you. AKL is a great place to stay! It definately is unique in it's own way. :)
Don't mind you asking at all. I should stop assuming people tend to know what SD stands for. It's a servicedog.

Rebecca, AKL is Animal Kingdom Lodge. POR is Port Orleans Riverside and CBR is Caribbean Beach Resort. As you can see; a lot of us plan on hanging out at WDW before the cruise.
Thank you so much. We have never been to DW before... We have been to DL many times, but with living in California that isn't a hard thing to do :rotfl: Its funny DH and I have been discussing if we should rebook on board or instead plan a big DW vacation. We keep watching all the Travel channel Disney shows and are starting to get the bug....But I :lovestruc LOVE cruising this one in Sept will be our 8th cruise, 3rd with Disney, and am not sure I want to give up the sea to do just a land vacation yet. We typically try to do a small Mom & Dad only vacation each year, usually in Las Vegas we have a time share there...which is very funny since we don't drink alcohol or gamble at all, but we LOVE the shows, and food......come to think of it thats exactly why we cruise. :lmao: Have an awesome Thursday all.

For DH and I it's just simplier to fly in and out day before or after cruise as we ususually take early flight in or out and it saves a bit in sanity dept.

This past June was easy for us since the Magic left out of LA...so we just had a 7 hour drive... Last Sept we did the Western on the Magic and we actually flew down a day & half before. And trust me we needed the recovery time. The flight was over 7 hours and the three hour time diffrence, so we checked in to the hotel late the first night, and had the whole next day to rest then the second day drove to the pier. And due to flight times we have to stay a night after the cruise as well. Last time we stayed at The New Residence Inn....they let us park our rental car for free the whole cruise, and had a shuttle for us to the pier, and the free breakfast is a plus ;)

I agree We are on same Time zone as Fl so it's not time adjustment and our flight is only 2.5 hrs if that. Now when we DL I'll be one needing time adjustment course.

Rebecca, if you ever get the chance; do WDW. Even just dropping in there before or after the cruise or doing DTD for a couple of hours is worth it. You will never be able to get a glimps of it all, but it'll be enough to make you know for sure you want to be back. ;)
Just like Fire, I'ld have to fly in before the 26th also. The earliest I'ld be arriving at MCO is around 4 pm. Not a good time if you still want to make it to PC. So that would mean flying in on the 25th. However, depending on the airline I'll be flying AMS- FRA and than from Frankfurt straight to MCO. (this would be the carrier of my first choice at the moment) That flight is only once a day. So if I mis my connection, can't fly to MCO untill the next day. Don't want to miss the cruise, so I found myself another great excuse to get to the US days beforehand and what better place than to do that at WDW?
I must say I don't have any problems with the time difference though. (in my case 6 hours) OK, the flight is energy draining (depening on route anywhere from 10-12 hours) but what saves me no matter where I go is to start living in the new timezone as soon as I hit the plane and if need be even the night before flying. (one night without sleep does wonders to get into the new rythm within a day, at least for me)

I'll have to remember this. With the price of parking at the terminal, that really is a deal. How was the hotel's shuttle when you got off the ship?
Just like Fire, I'ld have to fly in before the 26th also.
Hmmmmmm, I'm starting to see a possibility of a pre-cruise Dis meet? :cheer2: :grouphug: :flower3: We, too, are driving down the day before (don't want to take any chances). If there is any interest, I think that we'd have a really fun time!!

You were hinting Rebecca? Hinting? About what? You were so subtile, I can't read a hint in there anywhere. :lmao:
Seriously though; I'll be at WDW and going from there to the pier on the 26th. Don't like it per se (already a bit obsessed with wanting to be at the port early in the morning. Maybe I'll even take ME back to the airport and than take the DCL bus??? They start driving down earlier than the ones from WDW, how obsessed does that sound?), but it is the easiest and cheapest for me travelling solo and with the powerchair. Oh wel, can't have it all.
No, I don't mind you asking. Unless it are truely, ehm, 'weird' questions I don't mind asking about Xippe at all. Any reason to give me an excuse to keep talking about him. :rolleyes1 Xippe is something we call a 'helping dog'. He's trained to help me open and close doors, get me all kinds of things, pick up after me if I drop things, push switches for lights, elevators etc, hep me do the groceries, help me do the :laundy: , even helping me out when I do dislocate a joint again and can't put it back myself. He should be able to put it back, which will safe me a lot of trips to the ER. He basically has to run the household for this lazy woman.

I'm still debating on whether or not we'll do anything at the parks before our cruise or not. I know that we'll drive down on Friday either way, but we'll either stay at the port or at Disney for the night. What's swaying me in favor of the port is the offer of free parking at the hotel for the duration of the cruise, a savings of almost a hundred dollars!! The good news is that we have lots of time to decide!

Sounds like we'll just have to do a lot of meetings. ;)
Crystal, you could sent DH to the same school as Xippe but their very picky to which students they allow in. Not only that, but you'ld miss DH for about 2 years and it would cost you somewhere around 40K with the risk of him not graduating. Sounds like you'll just have to put up with him and spent the 40K and regular trips and cruises to keep you going. Oh poor you. :goodvibes
The joint-'trick' sounds more wow than it is. One of the most basic commands they teach the dogs is to push and pull. These 2 commands are used for a lot of every day stuff like opening and closing doors, cabinets etc. I know in which direction to pull or push a limb and with how much force. Next to that, it's basically Xippe pushing or pulling like he's told to. It's more difficult to teach a human, medical professionals included, to do this. :lmao: But yeah, these dogs are very smart. I mean, knowing the difference between right and left, behind and in front. Knowing which distance (there are different commands for walking without leash that let's him know how far he can wander off during playtime) is which, and the list goes on and on. Really unbelievable. To be honest, it is a long long wait until next month.

And not tell me anything? Sjeez, now I'm not letting Xippe come on here and give you hints. :rotfl2: And more brothers and sisters than I'ld want to claim? The more the merrier! Family always is a great excuse for another trip abroad.
Allthough to be honest, I'm silently hoping that either the Magic or Wonder will soon be coming to Europe again. Either for a special in 2010, or permanently when the 2 new ships are in on the action. Especially if the rumours are right and sailing might just be from England. That would be just about in my 'backyard'. Not only great for distance but it's a lot cheaper to fly also, so cruise again sooner! :dance3:

Crystal, was allready thinking you must have been totally involved with your next WDW-fix. And rightfully so! :goodvibes Have fun and tel the CM's at Kona they'ld better keep the crabcakes on the menu untill I've had my fix of them in december. We've finally hit the dubbel number on our countdown for WDW. :cool1:
Adam, such a nice bonus! Wh would mind getting one like that every year or two.
Things are very exciting around here. I used to drive my own car until a couple of years ago my health went down south a bit. Adapting a car to wheelchair driving isn't too cheap overhere and you'll have about 0,00001% of getting a fund for it if you can no longer work. Totally unexpected I just recieved a letter stating that I am getting a certain amount of funding! :woohoo: And now the difficult decisions will have to be made. Will we adapt a van so that I can drive or isn't that veisable (spelling??) and will we adapt a van so I can be chauffered around. Of course the first has my first preference but time will tell what is realistic. But wow, getting that funding! Who knew 2008 could bring so many great surprises. An almost free trip to WDW, being able to go cruising next year, getting Xippe and now this. I am one lucky woman! :cloud9: Makes me wonder what a great year 2009 must be and what great surprises the cruise will have in store for all of us.

Welll, Daaaaarling, don't check in the Restaurant Board because you may be in for some bad news about Kona! :sad2: I, however, will give you a full report when I get back.
As to your news about your vehicle, that's absolutely fabulous! I personally would opt for the chauffeur - I'm not sure what that says about me! ;) Still, that's great news, and I'm sure you are over the moon about it! :yay:
YIKES - I just saw that there are 3 hurricanes brewing right now - just in time to make my worry go up 50000000% about our trip. Note to self: add trip insurance to cruise reservation ASAP. I don't think I'll be able to do this again next year without trip insurance - LOL. Oh boy, oh boy! :sad2:

Ouch Crystal, 3 hurricanes? Darned, that's bad timing! Allthough, isn't at least Gustav supposed to be heading (knock on wood for you) way more to the north, somewhere around the New Orleans area? I'm hoping my good old luck for vacation weather will still work it's charm next year september, but yes. I would get trip insurance for that for sure. (to be honest, any time I travel abroad for a longer time I'll get myself trip insurance. And so far it definately has paid for itself)
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, don't say you read somewhere about them removing the crabcakes? I only read al kinds of stuff about entrees being removed, but nothing about crabcakes. I want my crabcakes! :headache:
Chauffeurs aren't what they're cracked up to be. ;) I get (and will keep after the van gets here) chauffeured around all of the times for all things to do with my medical stuff. Healthcare is paying for a taxi to get me to all kinds of places and let me tell you; after 8 years I am acking to be driving myself again. :goodvibes

Warning!!!!;)
Dont live in the desert too long... strange things happen!:rotfl2:
While picking up Dh from school(he's a massage therapist) our A/c went on the fritz. So we drive to the Ford dealership to have it repaired asap. Today was 110..... before I knew it we bought a new Edge!
We pick it up tomorrow after paddling!
I know it will be great for us, the cost for gas will be less, insurance will be less, better air bags, and a cool "sync" set up for our cell phones and IPod:cool1: , but our boat will look very funny on top. The car is about 15' long while the boat is 24'. At least now I wont have to climb up a 3 step-step ladder to put it on the roof rack.
Im rambling... I think Im still nervous about buying a new car!

So we put our deposit down in July, then debated about when to let our 3 daughters in on it. :goodvibes
After some debating we agreed to give them 1 year notice. Today in a moment of weakness on my wife's part :rolleyes1 , she agreed we could go ahead and tell them. Her argument had been she didn't want to hear everyday for a year "When are we going on the cruise?" I think she realized she's pretty much already putting up with the same level of anticipation from me so why not let the kids in on it. :cloud9:
So I put on the DCL DVD and said hey kids lets watch something. DD9 asked fairly quickly, "Soooo, Are we going to Disney World?" "No," was our innocent reply.
Eventually, they figured out the whole thing and I told them it was still a long ways off, but we all had something pretty cool to look forward too. They were excited to say the least.
Still, I think I remain the most anxious because by the time the DVD got to the part where it was showing how they made the MAGIC, I was entranced -- and the only one still in front of the TV. :happytv:
Oh well, I know they'll love it, but I guess I feel more of the pixie dust, cause this level of a vacation was unheard of when I was growing up.
Continuing the countdown...

Congrats with the new wheels, Ann! And good luck with getting over the price. ;) Have you given it a try allready?
Adam, maybe your wife wanted the girls in on it, so her excitement doesn't stick out too much between all of the girls jumping, screaming, and repeat asking 'how many days left?'. Gives her the perfect excuse to start counting down the days, making a calender etc. I know what you mean by being intrigued with the magic and this not being 'standard' when growing up yourself. Same thing here!
Wonder how Crystal is doing. If Hannah and now Josephine are driving her partially nuts already. What stormy timing she has!
Xippe and I should be starting our training next thursday. We're still awaiting approval for hometraining (person who has to approve just came back from vacation yesterday), but the trainer is confident we should get the go-ahead, so she's planning anyway. If time allows, the second training will also follow within this week. And if all goes real well, Xippe would allready be at home and staying with me next week. Sounds like I need to do some serious doggy shopping soon! They will provide me with a basic package including all the dog truly needs, but of course Xippe will need some extra toys, booties for hot florida etc. Shopping, oh what punishment! :rolleyes1
Have fun people, and hopefully dryer days than Florida and my backyard seem to have!

Ann, that's so cool! Those Edges are such sharp looking vehicles, and the Ipod sync sounds like a great option. Enjoy!!!!

Adam, what a fabulous way to announce your trip! I think that you guys will have so much fun together counting down the days until the cruise! I was honestly surprised how much my DD (who's 4) got into counting down our parks trip. We made a countdown calendar and everything, so it was even a bit educational - LOL.

Hey Girlfriend! I'm doing great! 3 more days of work, then a fun weekend, and we'll be off! As to the hurricanes, I *think* that we'll just miss Hanna and that we'll get to Orlando before Ike hits land, so that's good. I promised myself that I wasn't going to stress about the weather, so I'm just not!
I'm so excited for you and Xippe! You will definitely have some shopping to do, and, remember, it's your duty to create another Disney fiend! :rotfl: Well, I'm sorry I won't be here to get the scoop on your first week with Xippe, but I will certainly check in when I get back.

Sounds like you're a wise lady, Crystal. If you do have to 'do' any bad weather, WDW is the best place to do it at. :) Besides, you're taking so much bad weather now, the weathergods should really promiss you great weather for sept/oct 2009. Or is that just a tad too much wishfull thinking? :goodvibes
If it's up to me Xippe will be one big old Disney nut within no time. Hopefully he'll be into Pluto. Just one guess which picture I've got my hopes one getting in december. :thumbsup2

It sounds like we all have some good news everywhere!:cool1:
I dont think I could keep a cruise a secret from anyone. I'm too excited to that a secret, I tell everyone on the street!
Sounds like Xippe:dogdance: needs a whole day of cruise shopping to me
The car is soooo cool. Our cell phones are all hands free now using that sync program. You just ask it to call "someone" and it dials their phone.
Funny thing is... the sync likes me more the DH!!!:rotfl2: I can get it to play anything and he's still having it ask him repeatedly is this what you want?:rotfl2:
And more good news DD and DSIL just did their deposit for this cruise:yay:
So they can be added to the list and the FE list also, cabin number to be posted, because I forgot it:headache:
Have a great week, and Crystal... have a wonder-ful cruise.

Welcome 'aboard' Disztagal!
Sounds like it's not only going to be a celebrations cruise but a 30th-birtdays-celebrations cruise. Crystal, me and now you. We are such smart ladies to celebrate our 30th this way! :goodvibes

I agree, Goofieslonglostsis! We're all so smart. I had read that a while back (I'm a bit of a lurker) and thought I know that I picked the perfect cruise. Also, congrats on your service dog. I hope that the hometraining gets approved asap so you can get Xippe.:woohoo:

Great you came out of the lurking-position! :) Just realised you are a new poster (not reader :rotfl: ) on the DIS, so guess we'ld better be honored you decided to do it on the roll call. :goodvibes
You definately picked the right cruise! Well, one big downside if you ask me. Still 12,5 months to go.
Hometraining isn't approved yet, but we started anyway. :thumbsup2 Next session is thuesday. There really shouldn't be any problem getting the approval and if there is, we'll just go to the intern training at the dogschool. That will also start this month, so either way Xippe will come to stay at my home this month. Right now we're focussing on walking on the leash and no leashpulling. Xippe is a doll when he's off the leash, but doesn't appreciate the leash as much. I told him he'll have to learn or he wont go cruising. Now which dog could resist that? I'm sure he'll improve within no time. :lmao:

I totally understand the pulling on the leash. We have a weim and a gordon setter. Both pull like no tomorrow and one has been through 2 months of training specifically learning how to heel and not pull. It did no good, she still pulls.:confused3 I know that Xippe will catch on quick since he's had so much other training and he's trained to be helpful. He's probably way better trained than my two.
I also can't believe that the cruise is so far away. I've never had to wait this long before. We've been on two other Disney Cruises and only had to wait five months max. I think my husband is raly to scream since all i want to talk about is the cruise and what excursions to take. :rolleyes1

Lol, gosh do I know that feeling of driving others crazy over something wont be here untill many moons from now. Have you got anybody else in your surroundings that's as DCL-crazy as you or are we the only very happily and totally nut fruitcakes?
Didn't know what breed a gordon setter is, so looked it up. Good looking dogs! But does explain the pulling when I read about them having a mindset of their own. :lmao:
Ann, oh my gosh. That sounds like one smart sync. Liking you more than DH. :lmao: Hows the poor guy coping with him having to beg the sync? :rotfl2:
Xippe will do fine. It's pure conditioning in his case. He's almost 3 years old and started full training at the age of 6 months. He behaves perfectly on the leash while in a grocery store so it is pure conditioning that happened somewhere along the time he was with a fosterfamily. He can pull al he wishes, he's not getting anywhere being tied up to a 375 pound powerchair. :rotfl: If he wouldn't be able to behave while being on a leash he wouldn't have passed his exams. They still wouldn't hesitate to retire him if need be. But it wont, he can do it. He's prince charming without a leash so at least he should be able to become a bit less froggy while on the leash.
