We are thinking of flying into California now instead of driving for 2 days, thanks to my Mom who will put the trip on credit and let us pay over a few months:thumbsup2 Are there any car rental companies you recommend or ones we should stay away from? We're doing San Diego first for 3 days then up to Disneyland for 3 days and there are 2 adults and 5 kids.

Thanks

We just got back from Cali mid December & we too flew into San Diego & out of Lax. We stayed at Days Inn on Hotel Circle, they picked us up at the airport, had free shuttle to Zoo & SeaWorld & then rented a car from Enterprise (free pickup at our hotel). Cheapest price I found for a 1 way (we dropped it off in Anaheim) and they dropped us back off at our hotel after we took it back. We rented a mid-sized SUV & it was a 3 row, 7-8 seater vehicle. We didn't keep it when we got to Anaheim as our hotel was right across the street from DL & just got another shuttle to LAX.

We had no problems & we even took it back w/over 1/2 tank of gas & they gave us credit for 1/4 tank for our next rental. Very cool of them, it was barely over a 1/2 tank.

No problems, would recommend.

My parents had previous trouble w/Alamo, but they have since made it good & refunded them the problem difference. (they had made reservations & because the flight was delayed they called to inform them & they then re-booked them at a different price & wouldn't budge - it was hundreds of dollars, but after letters & calls, they were refunded the difference in cash - not credit). I do know that there is an Alamo right in downtown Disneyland, so convenient, but my parents problems weren't resolved before our trip, so I wasn't sure....

We usually have good pricing with Budget Rent-a-Car. Look online for some online discounts, plus if you have BCAA, you can add that discount on to the other web discounts that you find.

I know you didn't ask for airfare. But I hear there's a good airfare sale on Southwest Air, flying out of SEATAC to either LAX, Ontario, or Burbank. $99 each way + taxes = $226 pp roundtrip.
