View Full Version : If no CRV, sale DVC?

With all the excitement and speculation about CRV (and yes it's still speculation until DVC actually confirms it). I'm wondering how many out there will be so upset/devistated if CRV doesn't come into being that they will consider selling their DVC memebership?
It is entirely possible that all the consturction is either just an extention/remodel/rebuild/whatever of CR or something completely different all together (I can't say it would surprise me if it happens to be some 3rd party w/ the way Disney is selling it's own land etc).
Personally CRV doesn't effect me either way, as I'm not a CR fan. I just find it awe inspiring that everyone has decided regardless of what DVC says that contruction is CRV. My question is... "What if it's not?"
(please no flames, just a simple question) :firefight

I don't see why anyone would feel this way. It's not like DVC promised this would be CRV.

:cheer2: :cheer2: CRV will not effect me but it would be great if it was a dvc.

Sell? No way! CRV would be a nice addition, but I didn't buy my AKV points hoping to own at CRV. We have so many great resorts at WDW, CRV would be a nice addition, but it would not diminish the value of our other DVC resorts.

NO CRV wouldn't make us sell our points, but we might not do any add-ons either.

Cannot understand the great excitement about it on the boards myself, out in the real world i cannot imagine there will be any great excitement about it even when, or if it is released as DVC, remember it is the least popular resort on the monorail even though its the cheapest.
Rember the great excitement when Animal Kingdom was released over a year ago now, people on here asking if they didnt buy now would it have sold out in a couple of weeks, obviously didnt happen and it will be for sale for a good while yet.

I find it really interesting, and a bit sad, that anyone would be so upset by no CRV that they would sell DVC. If they would sell for other reasons (change in lifestyle, financial distress etc.) I understand, but not because of no CRV.
CRV has at no time been discussed or promised by DVC. If it doensn't happen, the disappointment should be because of the overhype, not because DVC didn't deliver something they never talked about delivering.
It's a nice thought, and I might even want to stay there if it happens, but i just can't get that worked up over a hyped rumor - however trusted it may be.

I'd rather own at the Beach Club Villa"s ( or the Boardwalk) any day:)

It is pretty funny how people can get their heart set on a rumor and then be upset when it isn't true. I am a recent purchaser and haven't "been home" yet, but I didn't buy my DVC in the hopes that they would open another one somewhere else.

How long has it been since Tink10 found that architect's rendering of the "C" shaped building that was referenced as a DVC project and projected to be be built next to the Contemporary? Over a year maybe? Can't remember, but guess what.... there is the "C" shaped building going up next to the Contemporary and No, Disney hasn't announced or confirmed it, but they haven't announced or confirmed the construction of that building, which I guess still makes it a rumor. I believe others have found references to DVC in permits also. Too much evidence there to worry about it.
Nope, right now Disney can't build the prime DVC units fast enough. I don't think the whole building will be DVC, but DVC is going to be at least a part of it.
I personally, am not interested, but those who are can surely plan for it. JMHO.

It will definitely, at least, be partly DVC. Just won't be announced until SSR sells out. For those of you who are waiting to add on until CRV is announced, just be patient, its coming soon. DVC on the monorail.:cool1:

Nope, no interest in CRV anyway.

It would neat if it did happen, not sure if we would add on there. I could see us staying there at some point. It does not make me want to sell my points ONE BIT. NO WAY.

Nope, no interest in CRV here either. We're more than happy with AKV and OKW.

I wouldn't sell if there is no CRV. We own at AKV, and that's where we want to stay on most of our trips anyway. I like the option of CRV if they offer it, but we want AKV as our home resort.

My guess is that zero owners will sell if it is not DVC. Maybe somewhere there might be one or two people who became members NOW in order to be eligible for any pre-sale offers for current owners if/when Contemporary is announced, but still, I think that is a major long-shot.
However, I like your question of "what if it is not a DVC?" It is talked about like a forgone conclusion around here...and even though I believe that it will be a mixed-use resort (half DVC), I think it is a mistake for everyone to just assume.

I didn't vote in the poll because you didn't have my choice on it. I'm pretty confident it will be DVC because it makes no sense that they would add more regular rooms to a resort that was struggling to fill the original wing of rooms - hence all the discounts at the resort. However, if it's not DVC I will still be happily using my OKW points from now until 2042.
While it hasn't been officially announced, I believe that it will be DVC because it fits the pattern of DVC being added to struggling resorts like Disney Institute and AKL. Also, I doubt that they would add even more standard rooms in an 16 story tower when they had enough trouble filling the original wing that was torn down. I've had too many guides onsite telling me that they are not allowed to discuss CRV, while nodding their heads up and down when I asked if DVC was going in at the Contemporary.

Since we are newbies (just purchased this past November) :cloud9: and we knew nothing of CRV (or the rumors thereof) we will not be selling. However we will surely try to book CRV at the 7 month booking window for a future trip if the "rumors" come true.

I could care less about a CRV resort. I am much more interested in seeing the Hawaii DVC resort begin construction.

We will be at the new CR addition for weekends, wether it's DVC or not is irrelevant. If it is we will buy points and use them, if it's not we will use the $10,000 and dues we saved for our stays.:thumbsup2
