NOW!!!

It is just too hot in Orlando for the Marathon weekend to be just 2 weeks away!!

I just did what should have been a 9 mile run (I stopped after around 7.5, and a lot of that was walking!) and it was miserable!! My shoulder is a little sunburned:scared: :scared:

We are expecting a Cold Front early next week, but I doubt it will last 10+ days, so be hoping for another one to be coming our way!!

I've been doing some heavy praying for cold Orlando temps. I told the girls this morning that this is crazy, we are 'training' in low 30's (the feels like temp was in the 20's) and today was going to be 86* in Orlando. We are going to melt! then die :scared1:

We just finished lunch together were I just sat quietly freaking out LOL I kept telling myself the reason I was shaking was due to be out in the cold not fear LOL

chanting under my breathe 'cooler weather, cooler weather, cooler weather'

stay healthy! stay positive! :goodvibes

I will seriously barf then die if the temp's are too high. :scared: We've been negative, or in the single digits here, so I'm definately praying that it will be cool in Orlando.

Diane and Monte: I am with you. My mom is in Tampa and has been telling me how hot it is and I keep saying I'm gonna melt. We have been outside in the 0-15 degree temps skiing and sledding. What ever shall we cold weather girls do????? :confused3

I looked at the current 10 day and saw the 35 degree Wednesday temp on there and then saw how it raised back up to the 80's and I got a knot inmy stomach, too. The longest distance I have run in that heat was 8 miles! :scared1:

Praying for 40 degree weather at 6am on Saturday, January 12th! :worship:

Please, say it will not be so. Robert, I'd love that to be the hottest for the weekend. For me even a bit cooler please.

As a Florida native I say proceed with caution: OUR WEATHER IS CRAZY AND UNPREDICTABLE in the winter.

We went to Epcot Saturday before Christmas and it called for high of 75 so I wore jean skirt and FROZE my butt off!!! :confused3

But pleas be warned, we have had EXTREMELY warm winter. It has averaged 80 all winter. I am truly praying for you guys that you ALL bring the cold with you.

We don't want a repeat of last year :scared1:

I think you should all stop your cold weather dances now. They have been working and it is freezing down here.

I had to wear jeans to work today because it was to cold for shorts. :rotfl:

Start the dances next week when it gets a little closer. :dance3:

Let it warm up for the weekend so I can go out and run.

Let it warm up for the weekend so I can go out and run.

Ditto. I was going to do my last LR today for the 1/2, but I was too freakin' cold to step outside.

It's gonna' be worse tomorrow!!! AAAAAAAAAAAGH!!

Seriously, if it is super cold come race day, I do not have a clue what to do. I have no cold weather running gear. Would not know what to buy/wear (All Diser's insert advice here).

The forecast temps are just ducky with me. 50's to 60's would be perfect for me. I don't need long pants for the 40's, but am not sure about the sleeves. I ordered some "arm warmers" just in case (they have really cool flames on them that will make me run a LOT faster :lmao: ).

I'm with you guys. I was forced inside tonight to the treadmill. It was in the mid 40's with the wind blowing. Just to darn cold to be outside.

I am in awe of you treadmill folks. It just drives me crazy. Can't do more than an hour and that's it.

Jim, I have no idea what to wear if it gets cold. Gotta figure this out this weekend.
enjoy,

For your cold weather gear....head off to Walmart or a local thrift shop. Buy some cheap sweats. Use them until it warms up and then throw them off.

I actually cut the shirt up the middle and the pants up the legs and hold them on with duct tape. It makes them "rip offs".

Pick up some cheap garden gloves while you are there.

You will be able to tell the warm weather runners for the notherns by what we wear for "cold" running....anything below 50 degrees. :yay:

50 degrees? Today it is 9 with a gale force wind bringing the actual temp to about -20. I don't even switch from shorts to tights until it is at least 40 outside. :upsidedow I hate TM running also which is why I have decided that a winter race is not for me again. Too much time inside as the roads are either snowy, icy or it is just too cold to run without looking like the abominable snowman!! :scared:

Accuweather is reporting low 37 and high of only 61 for marathon day. so its gonna be CHILLY at the start folks! a little trick I learned re: gloves--I grabbed an old pair of my DH's sweat socks (clean of course! LOL!) a lot cheaper than gloves and the work nicely for makeshift mittens. you can cut a thumb hole if you want too. I have an old "space blanket" from my last marathon too that I will be bringing to wrap myself in for that chilly morning wait.

Gosh, global warming is a scary thing. It was -10 here in Chicago yesterday and by the time I go out for my Saturday morning run it is supposed to be in the high 40's. :scared1:

Not that I'm complaining about the high 40's... it's IDEAL for me... :thumbsup2

It is true that the cast off clothing will be donated to charity, right? (Unless someone decides to cut it all up and duct tape it back together to make it easier to take off? :headache: )

I've got a navy blue zip up hoodie that I never seem to wear that I'll "donate" as long as it doesn't get throw into the landfill.

80 at the finish for the marathon? ugh.

I ran a half in September when it was about 85-90 at the finish and HUMID and I about died. it was pretty rough.

Problem is that the low temps posted are for the evening not the morning....both races look to start in the high 50's per current forecasts...

Someone needs to dance harder to get the temps down.

Hmmmm, for those from up north where it's cold I would agree. However, I have this head cold stuff that seems to be going around and find that the humidity actually helps.

Dancing for the cold.... I'll leave the humidity to others. :scared1:

Okay, you can stop the cold weather dances. It more than worked  . People reported seeing snow flurries yesterday morning down in Palm Bay (just south of Melbourne where I am) :scared1: . I am such a wimp. I have no idea what I'd do if I had to run (okay, walk) in weather as cold as it has been. I know the heat was a problem last year, but couldn't we try to find some middle ground. Guess I need to head out to the thrift store to get some throw away clothing for that morning.

I did get a ToughGirl running skirt for Christmas. Guess I could try that, but I'm hoping it'll be too warm for that. Sorry.

Golly!!! I can't believe I'll be running (okay walking) my first Half Marathon in about a week. I'm so excited and nervous and scared -- all at the same time.
