'Tis the Season in Disneyland: A California Christmas
DH & I were thrilled to be going to Disneyland for the second time! :yay: Our first trip to DL and my first trip to Cali was back in May for a whirlwind vacation for the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End World Premiere. pirate: It was my dream to always go to Disneyland, but the trip was very quick and busy. Plus, we didn't get to enjoy all the true Magic, since we were trapped staying at the Motel Hell. Yes, Johnny Depp did make up for it! :rotfl:
You can read my first Disneyland Trippie here:
For All Who Come to this Happy Place: My 1st Trip to DL for the POTC World Premiere! (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1501941)
I got hooked on Disneyland after our first visit and I wanted to go back as soon as possbile. So, we decided that we'd go back before years was over and enjoy the Holiday Season in Disneyland! :santa:
I called to make the reservations as soon as we picked the dates for our vacation and I knew we just had to stay on Disney Property. I really had my heart set on staying at the Disneyland Hotel. It is the first Disney Hotel ever and to know Walt had spent time thee as well, it was a must!
Sadly, the Disneyland Hotel was booked, except for a concierge level room that was double the price of a regular room. I went ahead and made reservations at Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel, atleast we would be on Disney Property. I was determined to get into the Disneyland Hotel, so I decided I'd call once a week to see if anything becam available.
It was a month before our vacation and I made my weekly phone call to Disneyland and found out there was a room available at the Disneyland Hotel overlooking the Neverland Pool! I was so excited! I just loved that pool when I saw it and only Disneyland Hotel guests have access to it. It was only a couple hundred dollars more for our stay there and I knew it would be worth it!
We were all set for our Disneyland Vacation!

We're going back to Cali!
Saturday morning came very early because out flight departed at 5:25 am! The alarm went off at 3:00 am and I had just fallen asleep around 2:00 am. I knew it was going to be an exciting day, but also a very long day!
We arrived at the Orlando International Airport around 4:00 am and went to park in the long-term parking. I knew check-in was going to be quite the experience with our seven bags and our kitten, Jax! :cat:
We were lucky enough to get a connecting flight through Charlotte, NC and my parents were going to be picking-up Jax at the airport. He was also going to have his own little vacation with his grandparents. :goodvibes
We were also going to be flying First Class from Charlotte to Los Angeles. I was so excited because it was my first time flying First Class and it was the perfect time, since we were flying from coast to coast. We grabbed a quick bite to eat at McDonald's as soon as it opened and then we boarded our plane to North Carolina.
Jax was just perfect on the flight! He loves traveling and he was a perfect little boy. :thumbsup2 We landed in Charlotte around 7:00 am and our next flight was leaving for LAX at 7:55 am, so we had a short period of time to get Jax to my parents. Luckily, we were able to meet near security and a very nice security guard transported Jax to them, so we didn’t have to go back through security. Jax was in good hands and now we were off to Cali! :woohoo:
We made it to our gate as soon as they began loading, so it worked out perfectly and we were the first to board the plane. DH & I were split-up in First Class and, of course, I got stuck next to a rude man, who thought he would just take over all of our leg room. Luckily, a very nice man switched seats for me, so DH & I could sit together. I was very thankful I got to sit next to DH for our long flight.
We enjoyed our flight and actually had a wonderful breakfast on board, while we watched the movie, Unaccompanied Minors. I slept for a little bit, but I can just never seem to sleep on a plane. I actually found it harder for me to sleep in the First Class seats because it was almost impossible to have my head against the plane. DH can sleep sitting-up, but that is impossible for me to do.
We arrived at LAX around 10:00 am, West Coast time! We were in Cali! We didn't have to wait long at all to get our luggage and then we were going to pick-up our rental car. We boarded the shuttle over to Avis, which was almost a 20-minute drive. It was so nice because the shuttle dropped us off and our car was ready to go! The keys were already in the ignition and we just had to load our luggage.
We were all set and now we just had to make that almost 45 minute drive to Disneyland in Anaheim! We started seeing the signs for Disneyland and I knew we were almost there! The directions were not too great once we got onto the Disneyland Resort Property, which isn't that large, but there were no signs! Luckily, we remembered where everything was, so we figured out how to get back to the Disneyland Hotel.
It was still quite early, but we were hoping we'd be able to check-in. We parked our car in the guest parking lot and made our way to the front desk. We decided we'd keep our luggage in the car, just in case we were not able to get a room yet.
We had made it! We were in Disneyland! :wizard:

Disneyland Hotel
We had a wonderful Cast Member check us in and we got our room overlooking the Neverland Pool with a king-sized bed. She handed us our room keys, free Disney Trading Pins, and our packet of Disneyland information and we were all set!
We made our way back to the car to grab all of our luggage and we made our way to the Dreams Building, where our room was located. I just love the Disneyland Hotel property and I could not wait to be able to enjoy all of it!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260226_4465.jpg

The elevator doors opened and we made a right down the hall to our room.

We entered our room and it was simply elegant. The rooms all have a Disneyland touch to them, but it is done in a very classy way. I just loved all the special Disneyland touches. The furniture was just amazing!

We couldn’t' t believe how tall the bed was and it was so comfortable. We may have had to jump to get into it, but it was so worth it, once our head hit the pillows. :rotfl:

I noticed a painting next to our bed and took a closer look at it. I quickly realized it was a picture of Pirates of the Caribbean in New Orleans Square. I just loved it and it couldn't have gotten any better for a POTC fan like me!

I opened our large windows that opened the small balcony area and there it was, the Neverland Pool! We had a perfect view and I was ready to begin our Magical Disney vacation!

Yeah :yay: I found another Lindsey trippie. I just went back & caught up on the last few pages of your last trippie & am so excited that you got to meet Samantha Brown (she has to have the all time best job EVA) & go to the Christmas parade taping.
When I watched the new Samantha Brown Holiday special & they were in the floral dept I seriously looked for you & thought to myself "how cool that I get to see where Lindsey works."
We are seriously thinking about California/Disneyland next fall for our vacation so I was very excited to see the Disneyland Hotel because that is where I was thinking we might stay. The room looks great!!!!!! I love the Grand Californian but it's alot more points & the Disneyland hotel has that nostalgia factor.
Can't wait for more.
P.S.........hope :santa: was good to you.

I made it! Wohooo I'm so excited you started your next trippie!  Thats awesome you guys got to fly first class. I can never sleep on planes either. Ugh the plane flight to Paris was awful! We left 5:35pm out of Boston and made it to Paris 6:30am their time so we had the whole day. We could not sleep at all on the plane so it sucked when we got there with no sleep and had the whole day with no sleep (well in reality it was 2 days.) Next time I'm taking a sleeping pill :lmao:
How lucky that your weekly phone calls worked out! What an amazing view you guys had, that pool is beautiful! Ohh and I love that tink wallpaper border.:goodvibes
Looking forward to more, you always have the best trippies!

Great TR so far. :goodvibes Can't wait to read more. It's always very interesting to read TR from DLR since we live here and don't have the same experience since we never stay on-property. How funny that you travel from FL to CA and we travel from CA to FL. :rotfl2: Waiting to hear more.

Just a quick note about the Disneyland Hotel...if you want to try it, you better do it soon, because they are going to refurb the entire thing. It is so old, it needs to be refurbed, BUT I will cry if they take away the Disney theming and make it just another hotel. The DL Hotel is the only Disney Hotel with absolute Disney theming everywhere! Disney is everywhere, even on the bedspreads (which we were lucky enough to purchase one of this trip:lovestruc ) I LOVE the rooms and the whole grounds. I truly hope they keep the midcentury modern style and all the Disney touches. If you have never been to DL or stayed at the DL Hotel, I HIGHLY recommend doing it! The hotel will not be the same soon. I believe they will be doing it building by building and it will start sometime this year. So go now, or you won't get to see one of the most magical pieces of Disney history. We go to DL at least 2-3 times a yr and ALWAYS stay in the DL Hotel on the concierge level, Dreams Tower because the service is superb and the view from the 10th and 11th floors towards the resort and DtD are spectacular and you get to watch fireworks from your window. If you get an inner room you will be overlooking the Neverland Pool, which is very inviting.
Sorry off topic, just wanted to let everyone know that they need to see the DL Hotel before it changes forever!!!!!!

Are there any dates on this in print, I would really like to know as we are planning a big trip next Dec. and were going to splurge on the DLH, but would hate to spend all that money and have it not be nice, any help or any website stating dates, etc. Thanks.:goodvibes

California Adventure
We had reservations over in California Adventure at Wine Country Trattoria for 12:00 pm and I don't know what I was thinking when I booked those! :rotfl: We pretty much finished unpacking around that time and we were exhausted, but still hungry. We decided we'd see if we could still make it for lunch.
I just loved being able to walk to everything so quickly from the Disneyland Hotel. It was just great! You walk right under Mickey's sorcerer hat and you are in Downtown Disney!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v153/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260255_2398.jpg
I just love Disneyland's Downtown Disney! It's smaller than the one in WDW, but to me it's just nicer and classier. I just love all the smells of the wonderful food and the shops there are just fabulous! I knew I had to do some shopping later. ;)
We made it through to the other side of Downtown Disney, where the security check is for you to enter either of the theme parks. We made our way to the right to go to Disney's California Adventure. It was so cute because all the letters in "California" were done as candy canes.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v153/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260256_2703.jpg

It was quite chilly outside, but DH & I were too tired to change from our sandals and Crocs, so everyone quickly realized we weren't from around here. :rotfl: The Cast Members made sure to point that out to us! We arrived to the Vineyard area and to Wine Country Trattoria. We were only one hour late for our reservation. :rotfl2:
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v153/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260257_3004.jpg
The CM was really nice and she still had our name pulled out to the side and said it was better late than never! We got seated pretty quickly and it was then that we realized how cold it was in California! The restaurant had all of the doors open and we were only seated a couple feet away. I was so glad I packed all my winter shoes and coats. I knew I was going to need them!
The restaurant was very quaint and definitely had an Italian feel to it. Of course, we went through two servings of bread sticks within minutes!
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b7cc09b3127cceb2ea8eb4571c00000025101AaMWrNw3aMW
I decided to warm up with some broccoli & cheese soup first. Our lunch was good and we had your typical Italian food, spaghetti & meatballs and vegetable lasagna.
Originally, my plan was to stay at California Adventure the rest of the day and it was going to be spent as one of our theme park days, since we pretty much had the entire day. But, the lack of sleep and the time change were not working on our side. We decided we'd go back and enjoy that nice warm Disneyland bed in our lovely room. It was naptime!
We had smelled the most delicious kettle corn, while we were walking through Downtown Disney and DH just had to get some! We got hooked on it and knew it was going to become a part of our routine every time we walked back to the hotel. :rotfl2: It was just simply delicious and the best we've ever had!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v153/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260259_3608.jpg
We made it back up to our room and turned the TV to ABC Family, a Classic Holiday Shows Marathon was on. We didn't get to watch too much of it before we were crashed. I woke up and a couple hours later and looked out or window. The sun was still out and I then noticed some people in ponchos. I thought that was odd and thought maybe they just didn't have any warm jackets with them. :rotfl: I realized it was pouring down rain! You couldn't even tell because it was still sunny and it hadn't looked like it was going to rain at all. :confused3
Luckily, we were nice and warm in our room. I decided I'd start unpacking, since DH was still asleep and I hadn't unpacked anything yet. I had a lot of luggage to go through. I was taking my time and I had also made a few phone calls to the family, but DH was still asleep! We had reservations at Yamabuki at Disney's Paradise Pier for dinner at 6:00 pm, but I knew there was no way we'd be able to make it. I called Disneyland Reservations and I was able to change our reservation to 8:15 pm, so we wouldn't be in a rush to make it over there. It had been a few hours by this point and I had to wake him up. I thought it would be nice for us to spend some time over at Paradise Pier in California Adventure before we went over to the hotel next door for dinner.
I woke DH up and we changed into our winter clothes because we knew it was going to be cold outside and luckily the rain had stopped. The ground was still pretty wet and all that did was make it colder.
First, we did some exploring around the Disneyland Hotel. I always have to go checkout the gift shop and the quick-bite spots. The lobby was so pretty and quaint. I loved the mural of Sleeping Beauty's Castle that was at the entrance.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v153/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260260_3924.jpg

I am still shocked by the weather in California! It was cold and windy our entire trip. I haven't been in California with warm weather yet! It did make it nice for December though and it really did help to make it feel like Christmas. It's a total change from the weather in Florida.
We made our way to California Adventure for the second time today and we saw that Santa Claus and a few of the Disney characters were all out front at Santa's Beach Blast. We just had to go meet this Cali Santa!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v153/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260262_4534.jpg
Then, I ran into Goofy! He was so cute in his Christmas themed beachwear!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v153/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260263_4841.jpg
We had just about over an hour to kill before we needed to start our walk over to the Paradise Pier Hotel, so we decided we'd spend our time over at the old carnival themed rides at Paradise Pier. We had so much fun over there last time and this time we got to enjoy it in the dark with all of the lights. DH & I just love the Orange Stinger and the Sun Wheel rides!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v153/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260264_5144.jpg
We managed to ride all of the rides over at Paradise Pier, except for California Screamin' before it was time for us to call it a night at California Adventure. The Paradise Pier Hotel was right next-door, but the only way to get there was to leave the park through the entrance or we could have tried cutting through the Grand Californian Hotel. It was a longer walk than we had realized and after the walk, we were sure glad we managed to get reservations at the Disneyland Hotel. We walked around through the Paradise Pier Hotel before realizing that Yamabuki's entrance was actually located out in front of the hotel.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v153/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260266_5781.jpg
We checked-in and we were asked if we'd like to have dinner in the tradition Japanese dining room. Of course, we said yes! I have never been able to eat on the floor without my shoes on before, so this sounded good to me! The dining room was so neat and it was a great way to relax before the evening was over.

I had hot tea at almost all of our meals in Disneyland because it was helping to keep me warm and this was the best Mango tea I've ever had!

The food was fantastic and we had a wonderful server too. The servers have to take their shoes on and off every time they enter the dining room. I know that would have to get annoying after awhile!

We stepped out of the dining room and put our shoes back on before leaving to go back to the Disneyland Hotel. It was a fun first day in Disneyland and now it was time to get some more rest because the next morning was going to come very early! I couldn't wait!

That's so neat that you were thinking of me! I've only seen part of the new Holiday Special and I actually just came across it when we were hanging in our hotel room in CA.
That would be so great if you got to go to Disneyland! You will love it! I really like the Grand Californian too. It's beautiful and a lot like the Wilderness Lodge, but I love the Disneyland Hotel because of the nostalgia feel and because it is the first. It has Walt all over it! :goodvibes
Happy New Year!
I am glad I finally have some time to sit-down and write me Trippie! :yay:
Uggghhh...I can't even imagine being on a plan that long! I've made it coast to coast and that's enough for me! :rotfl: This time we had connections every time, so that made it even longer.
I just loved being able to look out over the Neverland Pool, it really felt like you were in Neverland. Oh, you just gotta love Tink in the room and all the hidden Disneyland touches. I loved all the rides that were actually hidden in the bed comforter. Characters were all hiding in the Victorian themed wallpaper in the bathroom too! :goodvibes
I am in, too. I love your pics already! Where did you write about Samantha Brown? I want to be her!
Thanks! :goodvibes I'm glad you are here!
You can check out my last TR to read where I wrote about Samantha Brown.
The link is in my siggy.
I didn't write too much about it because it was a quick encounter at work, but it is there! :thumbsup2
:cool1: Another TR from Lindsey- my favorite! Can't wait to read more!
You are too sweet! :goodvibes Glad you made it and more is on the way!
I've been waiting for this one!!
It's here!

Oooh!! Another fun trip report. I loved every bit of your other one.
I'm so glad that this time you were not subjected to another hotel hell, and your perseverance paid off for the DLH. We stayed there for the first time last June and loved it too.
I need to read your WDW TR, and find out about your job, and Samatha Brown. :confused3 She seems nice.
Ok............you can write more now.:surfweb: :rotfl:

YAY!!!! Hi Lindsey!!
I'm so happy to be in on your new trippie right from the beginning! I would LOVE to go to DL some day. But for now I live vicariously through you. Thanks for letting me, BTW.;)
I absolutely LOVE the glove light in the bathroom. Soo cute! And I'm very glad to see that you got a MUCH better hotel than last time. :thumbsup2
Waiting for more....
Lesley
You are so welcome! :goodvibes
I hope you get to make it to DL one day! It's worth the trip!
It was still hard for me to believe that we were in DL and we could sleep in a bed we were not scared of :scared1: :rotfl:
So what do you do mere hours before you leave for your own WDW vacation....look to see if any awesome Lindsey trippies are around of course.
Lindsey, the pics from Disneyland hotel are great. it looks awesome there.
I'm glad I'll have something to look forward to when I return from WDW -- another one of your amazing trippies!!!
Haha! I am so glad this was the kick-off to your WDW vacation!
You are here right now! :yay: I can't wait to hear all about your trip! I'm sorry that we will probably miss each other. I know you'll be busy at Epcot tomorrow. :goodvibes
Happy New Year!!!
Great TR so far. :goodvibes Can't wait to read more. It's always very interesting to read TR from DLR since we live here and don't have the same experience since we never stay on-property. How funny that you travel from FL to CA and we travel from CA to FL. :rotfl2: Waiting to hear more.
Thanks! :goodvibes
I love being the newbie over in Disneyland!
I've been going to WDW ever since I was born, so it's neat to have a new experience with DL!
Ariel
I had no idea! I am even happier now that I had the chance to stay at the Disneyland Hotel. :) I'm sure there will be a hint of Disney and Hidden Mickeys here and there, much like the resorts at WDW. I really enjoy the Disneyland Hotel because it is all Disneyland and Disney themed. It makes it classic and there are so many memories in there. You can just feel it when you're there. I'm glad I got to be there! :goodvibes

As you can see...we decided to have a quiet New Year's Eve at home and I am spending it on The DIS! :rotfl: The best place, right!?
DH is always wearing his Red Sox hat and he likes to talk to everyone he sees that is wearing their Sox hat too. :rotfl2:

Sorry that I'm a little late to hop on the band wagon! :lovestruc
First off, it's great you got over to Disneyland again! I think the DLR Hotel Is Awosome :) Though, that Goofy's Kitchen's food fills you up well! Especially for the price, if ya know what I mean. Don't worry, I can't fall asleep on planes either, they vibrate worse than my phone! That Cali Santa was darling :) I stayed at PPH from 10/31-11/4. It tuckered us out. Though, we loved the hotel! You HAVE to stay in it! I just loved the Mickey lamps. Though, on my next trip, I promise I will take WAY more pics. That was my new year's resolution. Also, as you may not know, my birthday was on the 25th! Coming back to that later, I haven't been to WDW since I was 4. You most likely haven't been to DLR as much as me. Try at least 89 times, hehe ;) Yeah, so my wish for my birthday was to go... I think I'm getting that! So, fingers crossed. Anywho, I'll try to sleep on the plane and tell you how it goes ;)
It's so different when you don't stay on a Disney property. I stayed at Best Western a few years ago, big mistake. Disneyland Hotels *Starstrucked About The Buildings* Ah-mazing! Anywho, I talk too much.. So, great Report so far, I'll be sure to check your updates!:cool2:

Disneyland
We were up bright and early for our first full day in Disneyland! We had found out when we checked-in that Disneyland Hotel guests got to get into Disneyland one hour earlier. I thought it would be great to take advantage of this!
What's great about Disneyland is that their Monorail is right in Downtown Disney and just a few feet from the Disneyland Hotel. It would take us straight to Tomorrowland! Our bags and our tickets were checked before boarding the Monorail, so you can be dropped off right inside the park.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260281_4622.jpg
The Monorail drops you off in Tomorrowland near the new Nemo Submarine Voyage ride and, of course, that's where everyone had gotten in line. DH & I decided we had to go make our way over Sleeping Beauty' Castle. We couldn't start our day without seeing it first!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260282_4897.jpg
There were not many people around because they were all busy rushing to get in line, so we got to enjoy the castle all to ourselves for a little bit. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. I just loved the snow and icicles that covered the Castle.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260284_5495.jpg
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260294_8434.jpg
We decided we'd make our way over to Adventureland to ride Indiana Jones before our breakfast reservation at the Carnation Cafe on Main Street. We didn't think it would be too crowded yet, but it turns out that Adventureland was still closed until the park officially opened. That didn't make any sense to us because they only had a few rides open for the early opening for the Disneyland Hotel guests. That was a bust, so we made our way to Fantasyland because it was one of two lands that were actually opened. Not all of the rides were operating, but we did manage to ride Dumbo, Snow White, and Peter Pan. It was our first time riding the first Dumbo, so that was exciting for me!
The park had now opened and it was getting close to our breakfast time, so we made our way down Mainstreet U.S.A.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260285_5783.jpg
I was happy to be dining at the Carnation Cafe because it was Walt Disney's favorite place to eat and have breakfast in Disneyland. That just made it such a special place, so I had to enjoy it for myself.
Of course, it was a cold and windy morning in California. I had my four layers of clothes on, scarf, and gloves and I was barely warm. This is when I realized that the Carnation Cafe was all outside dining. :rotfl:
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260286_6064.jpg
The umbrellas did not help because they blocked the little sun that we did have shining down on us. The Carnation Cafe is quite small and it was crowded. Our service was not good and it took us a long time to finally get waited on. We were very happy when our food finally arrived. We had to eat fast because the food was starting to get cold as soon as it hit the table.
I couldn't believe the line of people that were waiting to get in for breakfast and the line was formed around the tables. It was getting a little hectic! We did have a nice breakfast and it was great to start the day with a Mickey waffle!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260287_6357.jpg
We finished our meal and decided to begin over in Tomorrowland. My plan was to do every single ride! It was very important that I ride every ride and see every show that I had missed during our first quickie trip to Disneyland. Our first ride in Tomorrowland was Space Mountain! We didn't have to wait half as long as we did the first time, so that was great!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260288_6637.jpg
We had been in Tomorrowland hours already riding every ride and seeing "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience." It was starting to get crowded, so our longest wait was for Astro Orbiter.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260290_7212.jpg
Tomorrowland in Disneyland also has Innoventions, so this was our last stop in Tomorrowland. DH really wanted to check it out and I'm glad we did. As we entered the large building, a CM asked if we'd like a ticket to see the 12:00 pm show of Asimo, an actual robot created by Honda. This sounded exciting, so we decided to stick around to see the show.
There was a small theatre in the back of the Innoventions building where they presented Asimo to the crowd. This walking, talking robot was just incredible! DH & I just loved it! I had to pull out my video camera and take some footage of him, so you can check it out too! ;)
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33260291_7518.jpg

Video: Asimo Robot created by Honda at Disneyland's Innoventions (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLl2LkBRs2k)
After Tomorrowland, we made our way to New Orleans Square because I had to ride Pirates of the Caribbean! It's so much different than the one in WDW and I just love all the extra scenes. It's amazing how much longer it is too. When we entered the ride, I noticed this new Captain Jack Sparrow portrait that I don't remember seeing when we were there in May. I loved it!

Lindsey, your pictures and trippie are amazing as always, you really got some beautiful shots of the castle!!! It looks so pretty!!!:goodvibes I took that same picture of Captain Jack when we rode POTC in June, too funny. Sorry to hear about your experience at the Carnation Cafe, that doesn't sound too nice, maybe it might have been better on a warmer day. So did you and DH ride Nemo or do I have to be patient and wait for the rest of the trippie, trying to figure out the best plan of attack for this ride and all the Fantasyland rides. :goodvibes

I was thrilled to find out that in Disneyland they have a holiday version of It's a Small World. I just love how they add special holiday touches to everything in Disneyland, even the rides!

The wait for It's a Small World was pretty long, so it was close to parade time when we got off the ride. We knew it would be crowded, so we rushed to find a good spot. I couldn't believe how many people were in the park and we couldn't find a place for the parade.
We made our way to Main Street and I found a small open spot and a very nice woman next to me told me I could sit by her because her friend would not be able to make the parade. I was happy because I had the front row on Main Street. I could not wait to see Disneyland's Christmas Parade, which was called "A Christmas Fantasy." :yay:
We heard the music from "Enchanted" coming from all of the speakers. It was the song "Ever After" by Carrie Underwood and I just love that song! Then, we saw a beautiful white horse with Princess Giselle in the carriage. It was a perfect way to get us all warmed up and in good spirits for the parade! :yay:

A Christmas Fantasy Parade
We heard the catchy music and we knew the parade was on the way! I just loved the first float with the adorable and cuddley teddy bear!

The Toy Soliders are my favorite part of any Disney Christmas Parade because they jsut are a tradition for a Disney Christmas. I just love them and the live music!

Daisy, Donald, & Pluto really got the party started with Mrs. Claus at the beginning of the parade. The floats were just so festive and beautiful!

Now, it was time for my favorite part of the Christmas parades, the Gingerbread House! Of course, the Gingerbread Men led the way and I love them! I actually just bought a Disney Gingerbread Man stuffed animal here at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

I quickly spotted one of my favorite Disney Characters ever, Max! I just love how Disneyland really makes him a part of everything. One of my favorite shows growing up was "Goof Troop" and still to this day one of my favorite Disney movies is "A Goofy Movie!" I had just a little crush on Max when I was younger. So, yes...I get very excited when I see him! I've only seen him twice before and have never been able to meet him! :sad2:

The Christmas Parade was just wonderful and it was actually only the second Disney Christmas Parade I have seen in person. The last time I saw WDW's Christmas Parade was in 1998, so I was ecstatic to be able to enjoy it again at Disneyland!
Would you like to see Disneyland's "A Christmas Fantasy" Parade too?

Great update! Very cool how DL dresses up everything for Christmas even the rides. I love the mermaid pic from "It's a small world" very cute!
The parade looks fantastic too! Was it longer than the WDW parades? It seems to have a lot more floats. The snowmen are so cute! You just wanna give them a big hug. :goodvibes

Hey Lindsey, great Trippie once more! You fail to not impress me. ;) Well, time for critiqing(sp?)
First off, I must stay, you're so lucky you get the best of both worlds! Also, does IASW board inside at WDW? And also... Who doesn't like a catchy IASW tune once in a while? Lucky you that you got a seat in the parade! That lady was awful nice (Fairy Godmother?) I'm suprised that she didn't ask a kid.... Or are you obnoxious enough that you were giddy to see the parade and merely imagined she sai that?..... Good for you if you were, obnoxiousness, if that's even a word, is good for the soul. Giselle looks so pretty! I'm happy they air both the parades on TV... then you don't have to pay to go to DLR or WDW! Also, don't you think they need to make a DLR, WDW, TDL, DLP, and HKD channel? Showcasing them with interactive things and virtual parks? Just an idea :goodvibes
Gotta love those ugly stepsisters! ;)
Over and out,

We ate at Goofy's Kitchen back in May and really enjoyed it. The desserts were the best! I'd love to stay at the other two Disneyland Hotels whenever we can get back to DL again. I don't know when that will be, but I think I'd really like to try the Grand Californian. That would be the perfect hotel for the Holidays! :goodvibes
I hope you get your birthday wish! How exciting! :yay:
Happy New Year and Woot Woot a new trippie.
I have never been to Disneyland but would love to go. Maybe I can get a few hints from your trippie and sell it to my hubby :goodvibes

:goodvibes
Thanks so much! :goodvibes
I can't believe I missed that picture of Jack back in May!
I had to hold up the line to get the picture. :rotfl:

Me too! First Class was great and what a difference it makes! I never imagined Cali to be cold either. May wasn't that much warmer than December. We'll have to make it to DL one time when we can wear shorts. :rotfl:

I wasn't sure what to think of this post when I read it because I didn't know to take it as a compliment or as an insult. :confused3
Yes, at WDW you board pretty much every ride inside and the rides are all pretty much in closed areas, except for a few (Ex: Big Thunder Mountain & Splash Mountain.) It's amazing to me how everything is almost outdoors at Disneyland, including most of the rides. We are not use to that at WDW at all, so in DL you are right outside with all the weather elements. That would never work in FL.
And no I'm not obnoxious. I think being polite and kind goes a long way. The woman just felt like being kind to me, since I was standing behind her, so why would she not ask me?
Have a Magical day!
 the Disneyland Christmas parade & I would love to see IASM & HM all decked out for the holidays....that is just so special that they do that.

I filmed some of my video on a DVD-RW, while at WDW for Chrismas (the parade, etc.) and I cannot get it to upload on my computer. Sometimes my computer reads the DVD and sometimes it doesn't.
I usually don't shoot on this type of DVD and I have only done it once before, but I did manage to get the computer to read the DVD and upload it after about 30 different tries of sticking the DVD in and out of the computer.

Let's Celebrate Halloween on Christmas
After the parade, we finally made it over to Adventureland and this area of the park always seems to be the most crowded. I'm not sure why that is, but every time we've been there it is wall-to-wall people.
The rides were all too crowded and too long of a wait for us, so we decided we'd have to hold off on Adventureland. Then, I spotted Tarzan's Tree house, which was closed when we were there in May, so up the tree we went.
It was so neat and such a great idea compared to the Swiss Family Tree house. It's a great update and addition. It really takes you through the movies and it was done very well.

We left Adventureland and entered New Orleans Square, so we could ride the Haunted Mansion! It was really crowded because they had redone the ride for the holidays as "The Nightmare Before Christmas." Luckily, we were able to grab Fast Passes earlier in the day.
The Haunted Mansion just looked amazing! I am such a fan of "The Nightmare Before Christmas," so I was just thrilled! I really had no idea what to expect with the ride. Honestly, I originally thought they just decorated the outside. I had no idea that they changed the entire ride too!

We entered the Haunted Mansion and I really felt like I had stepped right into Tim Burton's fantasy. It was amazing! They redid the entire story and made it all about Jack Skellington's journey from Halloween Town to Christmas Town. It was incredible. DH was even shocked by the amazing detail of the ride. Even the stretching room was themed for "The Nightmare Before Christmas" with Jack's hackling laughs filling the room.

Jack-o-Lanterns had taken over the place of the talking-head statues and then we saw Oogie! He was at the end where the three Hitchhiking Ghosts usually are and then you are frightened by Lock, Shock, and Barrel.

DH & I got off the ride and we knew we had to ride it again! I think they should leave the ride like that all the time or at least create a new "The Nightmare Before Christmas" ride. I dare say it, but I enjoyed it even more than the typical Haunted Mansion.
I thought it was really neat how the evil doll took the place of the black crown in the ride and how Sally took the place of the scary little bride.

Any ideas? :confused3
Lindsey, did you close the disc in the camcorder? I know that if you don't close the disc (you won't be able to record anything else on it) it won't read on anything except the camcorder. Did that make sense? Just pop it back in the camcorder and close it...

I can't wait to post my pictures of the HM all decked out. I just love it! It needs to stay that way all the time. I'm a crazy "The Nightmare Before Christmas" fan, so I could not have been more thrilled!
Thanks!
Oh, what a cool moment to share with Max!
Yes, I love him and he's one of those rare characters you actually get to see, so I am so thrilled whenever I get to see him!
Maybe I'll be lucky enough to finally have a close encounter later in the trip! :rolleyes1
You are very welcome! :thumbsup2
It was a compliment ;) Being obnoxious is a good thing! That was a joke, too. That's cool about WDW... Also, that's because Disneyland has a wonderful weather situation! n:love:

Would you believe that I actually have never watched The Nightmare Before Christmas, so I decided to stop by Blockbuster the other day and they don't have it to rent or buy, so I checked the local library and they have it, now I just have to wait for it to come in, I want to be prepared for the ride, I hope it is a good movie. I am sure it is though, it is Disney.:goodvibes
Wish I could help you with your computer issue but I know nothing, I am sure you know way more then I do.
Did you and DH make it to the Disney Soda Fountain in Hollywood this trip? I know you had said you did some of LA too, just wondering what it is like.

Just watched a show on the Food Network about the food at DL. I have been there twice myself...once when I was 7 and once in 2002. I did eat at the Blue Bayou at the time and it was great!
Anyway, they highlighted several places including the Ariel place you had in your plans. But another place they highlighted was Napa Rose at the Grand Californian. Man, I wouldn't mind eating there. I looked on your plans to see if you had plans to eat there b/c I wanted to see what you thought, but I see you did not have it in your plans. From the sound of the show, it is a really neat place. Maybe you can hit it up one trip and let us know if it is really great or what!

We have had the good fortune to visit Disneyland TWICE during the Holidays....once in early Nov and once over Thanksgiving. It has been 3 yrs I think. since our last visit.
We LOVE the HM Holiday version and the first time we saw it in I think 2002 was soooo cool because we loved the movie from the day it came out but it wasn't the cult classic that it is now.
It is really fun to relive your trip with you. Your pictures are always fun and your enthusiasm and happy attitude really make your trippies fun to read:goodvibes :goodvibes

A Fantasmic Evening at Disneyland
I couldn't believe the day was almost over and it was already time for dinner. The one thing that I also noticed in Cali is that it gets darker earlier than I am use to in Florida. The sun started going down around 3:00 pm and it was almost completely dark by 4:00 pm, so that didn't give us as much sunlight as I would have liked.
We had dinner reservations over at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel again and this time we were dining at the PCH Grill aka the Pacific Coast Highway Grill. We went to catch the monorail in Tomorrowland and we got to sit in the way back in our own private little room. We just loved it! It was the perfect way to ride and we could lie down.
We really enjoyed the Monorail ride from Tomorrowland over to Downtown Disney. You actually go right over California Adventure's Golden Gate Bridge, which was so neat! It's especially a beautiful view with all the Christmas lights too.

We made the walk to the Paradise Pier Hotel and we were cold and hungry! The restaurant had a very cute decor and it was a quiet night there, which we really enjoyed. It was relaxing and we were really able to enjoy our meal.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33294304_6773.jpg
I really like the salt & peppershakers here and the crazy straws that you get with your drink! Yes, it's the little things that make me happy!
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b7cc09b3127cceb2eaac7f57c600000026101AaMWrNw3aMW
I had to start my meal with some nice warm soup. In Cali, I had to start every meal with hot tea or soup to heat me up. The mushroom bisque was very good and the cheese pizza I ordered was yummy! DH had a chicken sandwich and he was just crazy about the BBQ sauce.

The PCH Grill had Christmas decorations, but they also had two Gingerbread Houses that they had made. The one was my favorite; it is the "Nightmare Before Christmas" Haunted House. I loved it and wanted to take it with me, haha!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33294305_7048.jpg
We finished our lovely dinner and we made our way back to Disneyland. We walked to the Monorail, so we could be dropped off in Tomorrowland right next to Nemo's Submarine Voyage. We hopped off the Monorail and saw that the line for the ride was actually short! The CM was even yelling and saying that this is the shortest the line will ever be because everyone is watching the Fireworks. We decided we'd take advantage of the 30-minute wait. It was a very chilly night and we were able to see a few of the Fireworks as we waited in line, which didn't make the wait seem bad at all.
I was thrilled because Nemo's Submarine Voyage was not open yet when we were here in May. We missed it by just two weeks and I was so excited to actually be going into the submarine. It's still a Disneyland original, even if it is Nemo now, instead of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33294306_7318.jpg
We were the first in line for our group to be able to board the submarine and I made my way down the small winding staircase to my small pull down blue seat in the submarine. It was pretty cramped in the submarine and little claustrophobic once everyone was inside. That's why they actually had air vents in front of each window for everyone because I can imagine people freaking out from being in such a tight space and under water.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33294308_7853.jpg
The ride was just fantastic! I was so impressed with all of the graphics and I still don't know how they actually created most of the ride. It was really cute too and all of your favorite characters from "Finding Nemo" were there. My favorite part was at the very beginning when you see Darla, which was a surprise to me. Everyone laughed when we saw her. I think it is the most impressive and details Disney ride there is!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33294307_7577.jpg
It was getting close to time for Fantasmic! This was our first time seeing the show and I really didn't know what to expect. We had no idea how they were going to have the show right there at Tom Sawyer's Island. We couldn't believe how crowded it was already and I think we grabbed the last possible spot available. I couldn't wait to see it! After 30 minutes of waiting in the cold, that amazing Fantasmic music began and Mickey appeared!
I am very glad that we got the entire show on video and I can share it all with you! Enjoy!

Video: Part 3 of Fantasmic at Disneyland (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQVX-hY_MN8)
It was truly amazing and it was so different than Fantasmic at WDW. I have to say that I loved it more! The part with Peter Pan and Captain Hook flying around on the pirate ship was incredible! I loved how Disneyland used their Mark Twain Riverboat and the Sailing Ship Columbia as a part of the show.

Before we made our exit on the Monorail, I just had to go see Sleeping Beauty Castle! There it was in all its beauty covered in glistening icicles!

I've never been to Napa Rose, but it is right above the Wine Country Trattoria restaurant we at on our first day. Napa Rose is pricier and is only open for dinner, so we skipped it for this trip. Next time! :)

I saw "The Nightmare Before Christmas" when it first came out in theatres on opening day and I was actually in 6th grade at the time! I was even a huge Tim Burton fan back then. I have the original VHS when it came out for the first time. It's still amazing to me how it all of a sudden became so popular and a cult hit. It happened after Tim Burton had more success, I guess and then he also put out "Corpse Bride." Then, Disney actually wanted their name above the title.
That's so sweet to say! I love everything Disney and I love sharing all of that with fellow DIS'ers! :goodvibes
No, we did not go to Blue Bayou on this trip, but we did in May and ate there the day before the POTC Premiere, so that was exciting! I loved it, but we wanted to make sure to try everything new this time. :)

No, it did not snow in the DL Christmas parade, but it didn't snow in WDW's Christmas parade either. Did it before? This year in WDW, Chip & Dale threw some snow at each other and there was a little snow flying from their float, but that was it.
That's what I was thinking too, but then I don't want it to be too hot! :rotfl: I know it gets very warm in Cali too. Hmmmm...maybe September! :)

Great TR, As ALWAYS!!!:)
The crowds were actually not too bad, except for our first full day there. For some reason, that weekend is one of the most packed weekends. Sadly, I didn't know this, but after the weekend it was great. It was busier than it was when we were there this past May, but it was not too bad at all.
The average wait was probably around 45 minutes, except for the more popular rides and the holiday themed rides were a lot more crowded than usual. There is actually a long line for "It's a Small World."
I find Disneyland to be pretty empty in the morning and then it gets crowded in the afternoons. The lines are never too bad early in the day or in the evening.
Thanks a bunch! :goodvibes

DH & I have just been talking about taking a trip to Hawaii lately. We've never been and it's something he has always wanted to do. Disney will be building a resort there soon, which is pretty neat.
I'm not sure if they have taken all the lights down from Cinderella Castle yet. I haven't been there, since before Christmas, but we may go this weekend for DH's birthday. I'll have to go investigate. ;)
Fantasmic at DL looks great!!!

Lindsey, as always your pictures are wonderful!!! The ones of the castle at night are so beautiful, I can't wait to go!!! Nemo looks and sounds like it was fun, can't wait to ride it, hopefully in March but if not then for sure in Dec. I can't wait to watch your videos, Fantasmic sounds awesome and I can't wait to see it, I have thought about doing the reserved seating for that but I think I will wait and decide later, but it looks wonderful from the picture and your story, can't wait to see the video of it.
So cool you made a special trip to the Disney Soda Fountain,I do hope you continue your trippie through your whole Cali trip, Cali has a special place in my heart so it will be neat to hear about it, plus I can't wait to hear your review of the soda fountain, so I can decide if it is worth the trip or not.
I picked up The Nighmare Before Christmas yesterday at the library and will watch it tomorrow, can't wait, I will be sure and let you know what I think.
Thank you again for sharing with us, your so awesome!!!:goodvibes

You have a tattoo of Pearl!? That is so cool!
I'll have to go investigate. ;)
my sister and i have a running octopus joke... it was only fitting that my tattoo reflect that and who better than pearl?? that's her below...

we'll be in disney this weekend too. i'm really hoping that the castle is still like that... it's sooo beautiful! maybe we'll see you there! :dance3:

The nemo ride sounds fun. Glad you got to ride it.
Ohh and the pictures of Sleeping Beauty castle are great. They did a beautiful job with the lights.
That will be cool if you guys take a trip to Hawaii! I've always wanted to go there, looks beautiful! I didn't hear about the Disney resort there. Is it a DVC resort?

I never said California was North Dakota. It's like when it's 35 degrees in Florida. That's not what you would expect coming here on vacation for the first time. You see it as a tropical place, so to wake up to frost would be shocking. I would expect to be walking around in snow in North Dakota. Just like the image we are always given of Cali and LA is a warm climate in short mini dresses and tank tops. To see everyone in winter coats, hats, and gloves is not the image of the LA area that is projected to the world. It was major news in CA when we were there because they actually had snow, which was rare for that to happen. I am from NC and now I live in FL, so for me it is cold. It's a huge deal here when we got frost the other week and it was big news because of our tropical plants and produce. NC may get snow for one or two days a year and FL does not get snow. Come on, I'm a Florida girl!

I really was impressed with Disneyland’s Fantasmic and thought it was so neat. The Disney Soda Fountain was such a sweet and fun place! They had the best Disney themed sundaes. It’s right there across from the Kodak and Chinese Theatre. We had a great trip and we plan on going back to Cali real soon!

It’s DH’s birthday tomorrow, so I’m surprising him this weekend with dinner at the Spirit of Aloha Show. He will really enjoy it! I’ll have to see if he wants to spend some of the day at the MK. Thanks girl! I'm not sure about all the details with Disney's Hawaii resort, but the sketch photos of it are pretty amazing. It's kinda different for Disney, maybe kinda like the idea they had with Disney's Vero Beach Resort. Disney is everywhere!
Fantastic update. I love the Disney parks at Christmas. Seeing WDW castle all lit up brought a tear to my eye. The DL castle looks just as good.
Thanks! I was very happy to see Sleeping Beauty's Castle looking just as beautiful as Cinderella's Castle. The icicles are such a great touch and it makes the castles even more magical!

Hi Lindsey, thank you for the update on the Disney Soda Fountain, I think since in March we fly into LAX, I think maybe we will stop there first and then head up to Anaheim, I also want to find Amy Grant's star on the Walk Of Fame, I know right where the Kodak is so it should be pretty easy to find. I can't wait to hear your review of it though. I think we will just eat a sundae there, yum yum!!!!:goodvibes

i'm not sure where we're staying in hawaii yet. my parents are coming with us and they're the ones who are supposed to figure out where we're going. haha. they've been there before, so it is easier to have them figure out what places would be best to visit. i have no clue??

A Day of California Adventure
We woke up bright and early, so we could be at California Adventure as soon as it opened! We were happy to also see that it had gotten much warmer outside. It really was a beautiful day and we were glad to be spending it at Disney's California inspired theme park.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33294314_9465.jpg

We made our way to California Adventure and they were letting everyone into the park early and the Santa's Beach Blast activities were already in full swing!
http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33296735_9054.jpg
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33294317_304.jpg
We just had to go meet jolly ol' St. Nicholas again!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33294318_596.jpg
I thought it was so great that the characters were already out for meet and greets to get everyone excited for the day! Then, we saw Mickey in his adorable Cali themed Christmas clothing and he looked adorable, as always!
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33296734_8580.jpg
They had the main areas of the park roped off, so we went over to Hollywood Studios because we wanted to ride the Tower of Terror first. There were a few Tower of Terror CM's hanging around and one approached me. He handed me a Tinker Bell Friendship Pin set. I have seen guests receive these at WDW and I was thrilled to actually get one! It is a very cute pin and it says "Where Dreams Come True." Then, the CM looked at me & DH and asked if we'd like to open the Tower of Terror for the day and be the first to ride!? :scared1: I was so excited and it was a very nice Year of a Million Dreams moment for us!
The CM gave each of us a TOT sticker that you only receive if you are the people that are the first to ride for the day. Then, he handed us the Guest Book from the Tower of Terror Hotel. The guests that are chosen to open the ride for each day sign it. It was a nice leather-bound book and it was such a neat moment. We signed our names and I wrote, "I will survive!"
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33296738_1109.jpg
Then, we were handed the official red rope, so we could be the first to take the walk to the Tower of Terror! We began our walk and then they let the rest of the guests follow behind us soon after. It was so much fun!
http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33296739_1804.jpg

We were then told to go check-in at the hotel and that our room was ready for us. :rotfl: There was one CM waiting for us and I quickly noticed that the wait time for the ride was 13 minutes. They must have it set like that every morning before the ride opens. We made our way into the Hollywood Tower Hotel and the CM lead us into our private room.
It was so crazy for us to be there all by ourselves and then the elevator door opened. We made out way into our private elevator of doom and took our spots right up front. It was so much fun and exciting to be in the elevator alone.
Here's our photo aka our Red Neck photo that DH took with his phone!

It was a great way to begin our day at California Adventure! We decided to go to the "A Bug's Life" play area next because we hadn't been on any of those rides yet and we wanted to beat the crowds.
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33296826_7154.jpg

This area of the park was pretty empty, so we were able to ride all of the rides quickly. It is such a cute area and it is themed so well. You really feel like a small bug with the amount of greenery they have all around you and everything is larger than life!

Hi Lindsey,
Well, we're back! Actually we were back Tuesday at 2 AM, but it takes a couple of days to get back into the swing of things. I still haven't touched the laundry.
We had a great time. Sorry we missed you.
Ironically enough I think we may do a Cali road trip this summer...and of course, we'll need to stop in DL. So I'm paying extra close attention to all the details you mention. Any words of wisdom for dining or hitting the parks?
I love all your updates! Your trippies are always SO good!

Great TR! Thanks for taking the time to put it together. We were at DLR at the same time you were - but not so affected by the cold as we're from Toronto and it had been very cold here. We even wore shorts a couple of days! (Did you spot those crazy Canucks?!?)
We didn't take a lot of pictures for some reason, and I am so enjoying yours (which are way better than anything I take anyway). I especially loved your Haunted House series. Our twin boys had sung a medley from Nightmare with the school choir just days before we left for DLR, so they were thrilled to see it. We saw the "usual" version at WDW last year - they boys liked this one better!
I also enjoyed the parade and Fantasmic video's. I'm the only girl in the family - with my sons and my husband, they'd rather ride than watch a parade - and this trip everyone was too tired to stay up for Fantasmic (our boys are 9 and we'd all beem sick before the trip). If there is ever a next time...I'm just gonna go alone if I have too!!!
Lastly, thank you so much for the Asimo video's. I did see Asimo with 1 of our sons, with whom I'd seen Asimo when he was on a tour a couple of years ago - Asimo's made progress! It's amazing what he can do. The son who saw it with me is physically disabled and had a really touching response to one of the statements in the "host's" commentary. When she described how difficult it is to teach a robot how to walk, she referred to walking as being "something we all take for granted." Said my dear son - "I don't take it for granted!" Wise words from a little man who cannot stand independently and uses a walker to get around.
Thanks again for helping me relive some good memories!

Under the Sea Adventure
Next, we journeyed into imagination with the Animation area of California Adventure, where they have Turtle Talk and they are also featuring Snow White. There is a very neat animation area, where you can enter the Beast's room from "Beauty & the Beast."

They had a lot of interactive areas and games to play. It was pretty neat and I decided to see which Disney character I was most like.
http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33296832_9038.jpg

I saw there was a small stage show about the Animation of Disney, so we decided it was worth checking out. It was pretty cute and you had the change to meet Sorcerer Mickey, Woody, & Cinderella after the show.
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33296834_9660.jpg
Then, we made our way over to Redwood Creek Challenge, which we missed out on last time. It was a large wilderness playground with the magic of "Brother Bear" and it was a lot of fun! There are slides, rope swings, and wall climbs. It really feels like you are on a wilderness trail in the mountains. It's amazing to feel like you have left Disneyland for a moment and are really right there with nature. There were even beautiful pine trees everywhere and streams of water.

It was close to our dinnertime and we made our way over to Paradise Pier to have our meal at Ariel Grotto for "Under the Sea" character dining. We had one of the last seating of the day and we were going to end our day with a relaxing meal under the sea.
http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33296839_1306.jpg
We checked-in outside at the podium and were given a buzzer. We walked into the restaurant and the actually dining room is located downstairs, so we found an empty bench upstairs to wait for our turn. When our buzzer went off, we made our way down the winding stairs to be greeted by Ariel, who was our hostess for this evening's dinner. We had our picture taken with Ariel, which we opted not to buy and were taken to our table for two under the sea.
We had our choice of soup, entree, and dessert for our dinner for one set price. Our waiter brought us some bread and we were brought our soup pretty quickly. Soon after they began making the royal announcements that the Princesses were arriving. It was pretty neat because there was an official announcer, who would ring the bell, "Here ye, Here ye!" Then, he would announce each Princess when they entered the dining room. Everyone greeted each Princess with a round of applause.
Belle was the first Princess to enter the dining room and make her way over to our table. She was very happy that we both wore yellow to dinner.

We had a few issues with our waiter not showing up to our table after he brought us our soup and we had three issues with our bill, but other than that our meal was great. We exited the restaurant and California Adventure was closed. It was so sad that another day at Disneyland had come to an end. We made the walk back to the Disneyland Hotel and decided we'd do some more exploring around the grounds.
We made our way out front to see the giant Mickey because I realized I had forgotten to get my picture taken with him.

We enjoyed our walk around the Disneyland Hotel and then went to our room to crawl into our comfy bed. We had another early morning to look forward to at Disneyland!

I have a great picture of our yummy sundaes. They have Disney themed ones too! :goodvibes
thanks! the guy who did it was great. i specifically went to him because he likes doing cartoony stuff. i got that version of pearl from zazzle (the t-shirt place online), i'd seen it before and knew it was what i wanted! crush and squirt would be really cute for sure!
i'm not sure where we're staying in hawaii yet. my parents are coming with us and they're the ones who are supposed to figure out where we're going. haha. they've been there before, so it is easier to have them figure out what places would be best to visit. i have no clue??
happy birthday to your dh! i'm sure you guys will have a great time this weekend at the dinner! my bf is dying to go to boma again (we'll be there saturday night), it's all he can talk about! :lmao: unfortunately, i haven't quite made him a convert yet, so this will be our last trip for a while...
I will have to pass the Happy Birthday along to DH! :goodvibes
He just got home tonight and I surprised him with balloons everywhere and a chocolate cake. Then, I made an invitation inviting him to the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show and he's excited!
I just love Boma! It is at the top of my list! It's my second favorite Disney restaurant behind 'Ohana. :thumbsup2
When will you be in Hawaii? We are looking at *maybe" going in early summer.
Oh my gosh, Lindsey, you and DH looked like you had so much fun!!!:goodvibes How truly awesome that you got to open TOT, very cool, you got dreamed, way cool!!!:goodvibes And characters too, I'm lovin it.
As always your pictures are amazing, what camera do you have again? I know you've told me at least a 100 times and I keep losing the PM's, I promise this time I will write it down, your camera just does an amazing job.
Just got done watching The Nightmare Before Christmas, it was great!! I really loved Jack and Zero, very cute and just all around great movie with a great message!!! Now I am even more excited to see The Haunted Mansion at DL in Dec.:goodvibes
As always Lindsey thank you for sharing, your wonderful!!! Tell DH hope he has an amazing birthday.:)
I just checked my camera again for you and it is a V603! :) I was right!
I am so glad you liked the movie! Now, you must watch it every Halloween! I know I always do.
I'll pass along the birthday wishes to DH! We are going to really celebrate tomorrow night at the Spirit of Aloha dinner show! I'm excited! :yay:
We got those pins too! As we walked into AK a CM came over and handed the pins too us. I've only recently got into the pins and they are soooo cute. I know have those, a Segway pin and 2 Mickey/Minnie wedding pins.
You're day sounded great, anymore special moments?
I don't even want to start pin collecting because I know it's an addiction I couldn't quit. :rotfl: I also have the Mickey & Minnie wedding pin and just a few more, but I have been given all of those as gifts. I must stay in control, haha! Oh, there are more special moments to come!

Oh yea when I was holding on for dear life! :lmao: :lmao: By the way your DH is making a great face in the picture. LOL Oh and Happy Birthday to him! :bday:
Looking forward to more of your trippie as usual.
It was a blast and quite a surprise to both of us! :scared1:
You are too funny! I love that Red Neck photo too!
I'll pass the birthday wishes to DH! He always acts like a crazy kid at Disney too!
WOW, how are you always so lucky?!?!? That is so cool you were first on Tower of Terror. And your pictures are too cute. :)
I honestly don't know, but I do know I am very grateful. :goodvibes It was a memorable moment that I won't forget. Thanks so much! :)
:yay: you got a dream........that is really cool. You really are sprinkled with pixie dust Lindsey.
It all started after I got hooked on The DIS! It must be because I am always talking with such Magical people. It rubs off on you after awhile. :goodvibes
Hi Lindsey,
Well, we're back!
You're back!
Uggghhh...don't you just hate getting back home and having to unpack!? :laundy: It's the worst!
I hope you had a Magical time and I'm sorry I missed you too! Next time! ;)
That would be so fun to do a Cali road trip! You must stop at DL, of course! You can't go to Cali and not go to DL, it just wouldn't be right. :goodvibes
Any questions you have, I will gladly answer and help you! I've noticed the parks are pretty empty as soon as they open and get crowded in the afternoon. It seems to always be a mad rush when the parks open at WDW, but it's not like that in DL.
I've eaten at many of the dining locations, so if you have any questions or want me opinions, I'm here. :)
Awwww...thanks! I love being able to share my vacations with everyone!
It seems like DL is more decorated then WDW. It just might be me. I am hoping to make it to DL during Christmas time one year.
Yes, that is very true and something I noticed too. I guess it's because DL is smaller and there is a lot more detail they can put into a smaller area, but I love it!
I did see one family in shorts one morning at Disneyland and we thought they were crazy! :rotfl: Even a few CM's stopped them and I overheard them say, "Where are you guys from!?" They sure did stand out next to everyone else bundled up from head to toe.
I am so glad you are able to enjoy your vacation through my Trippie too! That is so sweet of you to say. I actually got sick in Cali too on about our third day because of the cold, I guess. Going from the warm weather to the cold weather gave me a typical head and congestion cold. It happened to me again here a couple weeks ago because we had cold weather in the 30's and then it shot back up to 80 degrees. My body couldn't take that major of a change, obviously.
That is such a touching and wonderful story about your son. That's one of those little Magical moments that Disney is all about. DH & I were actually waiting to watch the Halloween parade at WDW and there was a man next to us with his disabled teenage son. We chatted with him and he was telling us how his son does not speak, but when they come to WDW, they can't keep him quiet. He is the one who plans the entire vacation for them and is even able to read the map of the parks. It was such a touching story and I then told him I was actually a CM at WDW. I just had to do something special for his son, so I did my best to create some extra Magic for them!

Lindsey, as always a great update to your trippie and your pictures are so great. Ariel's looks like it was a lot of fun and the food looks yummy. Can't wait to hear about your early day at DL then!!! It just seems so neat at both these parks and I will be so excited to get to explore them a little more in March and then for sure in Dec.:goodvibes As always it is so sweet of you to share with us so that we know what we are doing once we get there. Your so great.:goodvibes
I will for sure be stopping by the Disney Soda Fountain in March and can't wait to see your photos from it!!! I bet they are just yummy and so cool that they have Disney themed ones. I found out that Amy's star is right in that area too so I won't have a far walk to find that!!! Cali is so great.
I will for sure have to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas every Halloween, or at least sometime between Halloween and Christmas, it was just too cute. I wish I would have seen it sooner. Now I am even more excited to see the HM next Dec. Yippee!!!:goodvibes
I hope you and DH have a blast celebrating his birthday tonight and I can't wait to hear more of your trippie. They are the best!!!:goodvibes

I am so glad you like "The Nightmare Before Christmas!" I don't think anyone can watch that movie and not love it. The music is fantastic!
You will just love the Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store. There are some great items you can also buy there that you can't get anywhere else. The place has such an enchanting feel to it. I love that it's right there in the middle of LA! Just another small touch of Disney Magic! I'll be posting pictures of the famous stars right around the Soda Fountain. ;)

December 11
Breakfast at the Park
It was another early morning for us because we took advantage of the early entry to Disneyland. We had reservations at Plaza Inn for Minnie's Character Breakfast at the Park as soon as the park opened. It was a beautiful morning!
http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302577_6609.jpg

We wanted to be the first to check-in for breakfast because I found out that there was inside and outside seating and I knew I did not want to sit outside. My food would be cold before it ever got near my mouth and I didn't want that to happen again!
We made our way over to the podium to check-in and I walked over to take a picture of the restaurant's sign. I had my camera out and was about to take my picture and I heard, "Do you have reservations!?" in a very rude tone. It really irritated me, especially since it was a CM talking to me like that and I had my camera out taking a picture as a guest. I snapped back with, "Yes, I do have reservations and I'll be over there in a moment after I'm finished taking my picture." Of course, I was not pleasant to her while we checked-in and I think she realized she made a mistake, especially since we did have reservations.
http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302580_7353.jpg

We made our way up the stairs to enter the Plaza Inn and a very sweet CM handed us two Minnie's Character Breakfast at the Park buttons and we were seated in the corner in a great spot. I was so glad we were inside and that we also got a booth.
http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302581_7594.jpg
We were admiring how beautiful the restaurant was and we began to wonder why we had been waiting so long for our server to ask us what we wanted to drink. We quickly realized that we also got our drinks up at the buffet area. This was whole new territory for a regular WDW guest. :rotfl:
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302582_7830.jpg
This was a very interesting Character Breakfast with an odd variety of Disney Characters. In WDW there is always a theme with the Characters and only certain Characters hang and mingle together, like they would in their Toon World or in their movie. In Disneyland, it was literally a free for all! There were Princes, Villains, rare Characters, and it was very unique. They also didn't really go around the tables in a uniformed way like they always do at WDW. They just kind of wandered around and even walked around the buffet area. I met most of the Characters by actually going up to them in the buffet area. It was a very strange experience and I never even met Minnie! She never came over to our area! I had even worn my Minnie hoodie just for her! Let me continue the story and you will see what I mean!
We were both very impressed with the buffet selections and they had a lot to choose from. There were also many different drink selections too, including hot chocolate.

We sat down to enjoy our breakfast and I couldn't believe who I saw coming near our table. It was Max! I never would have imagined that he would be here, but there he was!
http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302583_8075.jpg
I still had never met Max after so many close encounters and he was here! I jumped up like a giddy little kid and said, "Max, I've been wanting to meet you for years!"
http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302584_8328.jpg
We got up to make our second trip to the buffet and there was Captain Hook just hanging out and lashing his hook at guests as they walked to the buffet. There was no Peter Pan in sight, so I guess we had no choice, but to let Hook take over the buffet.

Then, we saw Eeyore randomly hanging around the entrance door and buffet area for a while. He wasn't really coming around to any of the tables and none of his other friends from Pooh Corner were around for this breakfast, so we got up to go give him some much needed attention.
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302586_8857.jpg
I couldn't believe who I saw next weaving in and out of the tables; it was Baloo! He was coming right at me and I still have no idea how he escaped the jungle and made it to the Plaza Inn! I do love him and I had to give him a big bear hug!
http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302587_9115.jpg

A nice CM appeared to hand out Minnie balloons to all of the children, which I thought was a nice touch. It was too bad that most of the children has already left our area by the time he was handing out the balloons.
http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302591_131.jpg
We had finished eating and we were waiting patiently to meet Chip and Dale. Like I said before, we never saw Minnie! She wasn't a very good hostess for our breakfast. We just caught a glimpse of her when we left.
Our part of the restaurant was clearing out and Chip finally made his way over to our table, so I hopped up to greet him. He did look adorable in his Christmas gear.
http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302589_9616.jpg

We were ready to leave, so we got up when we saw Dale walking by our area of the restaurant. We were hoping we could catch him before we left. He was actually walking away and DH yelled, "Dale!" Dale stopped and quickly made his way over to us. I swear we spent the whole breakfast wrangling the Characters, instead of eating. We were full and it was time for our day of Disney fun to begin!

Lindsey, as always, your pictures are WONDERFUL!!! Very sad to hear that you didn't get to meet Minnie at her breakfast, kind of sounds like your poor Piglet story from WDW.:confused3 It does seem kind of weird too that the characters have no random path they follow. Makes me go hmm, but hopefully they will work on that. It sure sounds like you got to see an awesome amount of characters though and you finally meant Max!!! Sweet!!!:goodvibes He looks adorable in his Christmas stuff too.
Thank you for the info on Woody's Reindeer Roundup, sounds like you saw a few characters there, I had read Clara is suppose to be there too, I will have to wait and see next year, but hoping she stops by.
Also can't wait to see and hear about the snow, I gotta see that.:goodvibes
I am sure I will love the Disney Soda Fountain, weird story, when we were there in March, we actually were right there and I was looking at the store, we wandered onto the premeire of Oceans 13 and actually caught a glimpse of Brad and Angie, but were waiting and taking it all in and I kept looking over there and just didn't go in, silly me, so now I am even more excited to go. I guess I better save up since you said the studio store has lots of neat things, do they have unique Disney clothes too?? That is always my downfall.
Can't wait for more of your trippie, they are always the best!!!:goodvibes

Santa's Reindeer Round-Up
It was time to make our way to Frontierland to visit Santa's Reindeer Round-up over at Big Thunder Mountain Ranch, which was all decorated and set-up for Christmas.
http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302655_8380.jpg

The highlight of our visit was seeing the reindeer and they were so adorable! It was the first time DH had ever seen real reindeer and he was just in awe of them. It felt like you really were in the North Pole because Santa was right next-door for photos.

There were picnic tables set-up for children to do crafts and activities, like decorating a Christmas cookie. Pluto was actually there helping the children and he was dressed just like a reindeer! They also had a small stage show that went on a few times a day. I wanted to hang around and see the show, but we had awhile to wait.

We went and rode a few rides in Frontierland before it was getting close to the time for the show at Big Thunder Ranch. The Characters had arrived to prepare before the show. They were taking a few photos with guests and getting everyone prepared for the show.
http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302908_3666.jpg

The show was cute, but definitely for children. There was a cowboy with his fittle and he sang songs you could clap and stomp your feet too, like "BINGO," but we had to do the "PLUTO" version. Of course, Pluto had to lead everyone in his own song.
After the show the Characters hung around for a little bit, so you could meet them. It was a rare chance to meet Clarabelle! I have seen her many times in parades at WDW, but I've never actually been able to meet her.

It was another Piglet moment, but at least I have met Minnie many times in the past. I still have never met Piglet! I was thrilled to finally meet Max, so it was all worth it!
That is so crazy to be able to see Brangelina, as I call them. I can't believe you were able to even get near there with the crowds. But, that's pretty exciting. I actually walked onto the set, while they were filming an episode of "ER" in New York years ago. I turned to go up some stairs and almost ran into George Clooney!

Lindsey, Woody's Reindeer Roundup looks great!! It looks like a really great and fun place, even if it is geared towards kids, I think at DL or WDW we are all kids, I am excited to see it. And Clarabelle was there and she looks so darn cute in her Christmas attire, glad you got to meet her too!!:goodvibes Clarabelle and Max in the same day!!! Awesome Lindsey!!!:dance3: I hope I have that kind of luck in March and in December.
Yes it was wild seeing Brad and Angie, I was not really close to them, my friend and I had just arrived and we were like what is all the fuss, we were up at the top, like 3rd floor of Hollywood and Highland and some nice lady was like, look Brad and Angie just arrived and we could see them, it was cool. We stuck around and saw George at the end walking down the red carpet, Brad and Angie never came back down the red carpet after the movie, but that was ok. It was late!!!
So now you know how very close I was to the Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store, ugh and I never went in, well I will change that in March, but if that Studio Store has clothes that you can't get anywhere else, I may be in debt for the rest of my life!!!:lmao:
Can't wait to hear more of your trippie, as always it is wonderful and your pictures are amazing. It is making me get in the spirit of Disney for the Christmas season already, it is a good thing we are halfway through January already.:rotfl:

Hey Lindsey! I just found this new trip report and I'm enjoying it! I have only been to Disneyland once in my entire life, and that was only for one day during my family's big California road trip back in summer of 1996, when I was 15. We flew from Florida to California, rented a mini-van, drove around the whole state for two weeks, and then flew home. Needless to say, we only had a day or two in each spot, but I remember it being so much fun! And I definitely remember our Disneyland day as a highlight of that trip. I loooooooved Indiana Jones and the Matterhorn. I would love to go back someday, especially since they've added SO much since 1996. DH has never been and is a Disney fan, so he would love to see it too.
I couldn't help but notice your DH's snazzy Red Sox hat. Go Sox! Is he originally from New England??? I lived the first 9 years of my life in a suburb north of Boston and we are a big Boston sports family. Even my Florida-born DH has adopted all of the teams as his own. As a matter of fact, he's wearing his 2007 World Series hat right now! :thumbsup2

Hi there! That sounds like such a fun trip, even if you were only in Disneyland for a day. It's definitely worth a trip to go back and really just enjoy Disneyland. Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer's Island
It was finally time to check-out the new Pirate's Lair over on Tom Sawyer's Island. We missed the official opening by just days when we were at Disneyland in May. I love anything pirates, so I was so thrilled to finally make our way over to the island!
http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302664_1436.jpg
We boarded the raft over to Tom Sawyer's Island and I heard a rumor that Captain Jack Sparrow was getting into trouble over on the island today.
http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302665_1776.jpg
I think it was such a fantastic idea to bring more of a Pirates of the Caribbean feel to Tom Sawyer's Island. I just loved all of the themes they brought to the island from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films. There were skulls and bones everywhere!
http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sctm/v161/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302667_2918.jpg

We did a lot of exploring around the island through the caves and mines. We made our way through a cave to an end corner of the island and we spotted Jack! He had come across the hidden treasure and he wasn't going to let anyone else get near it!
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302674_3039.jpg

We left Captain Jack to do some more exploring on our own and we heard a beating heart. We had found Davy Jones' locker!
http://photos-d.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302675_3342.jpg

We spotted Elizabeth Swan's belongings that had been left in the cave, including her diary and we also found items belonging to Will Turner.
http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302677_3919.jpg
But, watch out for Pintel and Ragetti, who are there to frighten you away from the treasure! :scared1:
http://i.imdb.com/Photos/Ss/0383574/0011.jpg
We had fun exploring the Pirate's Lair, but it was time for us to board our raft back to land.

We then decided that we had to go to Haunted Mansion Holiday again, since we loved the ride so much! There was no way I was going to leave without riding again!

Of course, we loved it just as much as the first time! It is just done so well! Then, it was time to take a ride down the river on the Mark Twain River Boat. It was classic Disneyland at it's best! Disneyland even still has the canoes in operation today!

The Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island looks really cool! :cool2: We were in DL this past summer and didn't get to do absolutely everything, including the Pirate's Lair. Thank you for giving me the "sense of being there" through your pictures! :goodvibes Great update, as usual! I'm looking forward to reading more! You are your DH look like you're having so much fun!

Hi Lindsey, Pirate's Lair looks like it was so much fun!!!:goodvibes I will for sure have to check that out in March, anything to see Captain Jack!!! But you and DH just look like you had so much fun!!! I remember seeing the lines for it in June and they were huge, I believe it had just opened, it probably moves rather quickly though, it seems a lot of people can fit on the boat. That is always good. Captain Jack looks wonderful!!!
Glad you were able to go on The Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion again, that just looks so neat, after watching the movie, I am so amazed at how very much they make it look like the movie, that is a must see. It is amazing.:goodvibes
Can't wait to hear more about your DL/California Christmas trip. :goodvibes

It's very neat that DL pretty much always has Jack Sparrow available for meet and greets on Pirate's Lair. That's something WDW should look into doing, for sure! It wasn't very crowded the day we went, but that weekend it was crazy, so we decided to hold off for a couple days. It was great because we could run around and we didn't have to wait in a line to meet Jack!
Great update! I wish they would do the Pirates Lair at WDW. That would be awesome. I think I could maybe convince DH to go to DL just for that!

Thanks! I think they should do and it would be a great addition to Tom Sawyer's Island, but I think they are tying to keep at least on the "original" Tom Sawyer's Island.

Disney Princess Fantasy Faire
We were a little tired by this point in the afternoon and we wanted to have a little down time. We went to checkout the Disney Princess Fantasy Faire in Fantasyland, which is a whole Princess themed area. There are many things to do there like, story-time with a Princess, meet the Princesses, and there is even Disneyland's take on the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302914_5401.jpg
We saw that there was a Disney Princess Storytelling session, so we stayed to see what Princess would arrive. While we waited, DH went to get me a Mickey Pretzel to snack on. I just love all the Mickey themed food items that DL has and anything that looks like Mickey tastes better!
http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302912_4841.jpg
We spent a couple hours at the Disney Princess Fantasy Faire and we started with a story from Princess Jasmine. There are bleacher seats in the area and then there is a huge floor area for kids to run around. We stayed in the back and enjoyed watching everything, including the children making their tiaras and crowns.
We also stayed to view the Royal Coronation Ceremony with Jasmine & Belle, which also included the Royal Dance. It was very cute seeing all the little Princesses with their parents dancing around. We also saw the arrival of Princess Aurora & Mulan for their arrival to greet their guests.

We kept the fantasy going and made our way over to Toon Town, which I just love! Toon Town at Disneyland is just fantastic and it really feels like you are entering the cartoon world. It was also all decked out for Christmas!

We had to ride Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin, which is one of my favorites! It always seems to be the longest wait too and it was another 45 minute wait for us. It was also a must for me to go visit Chip 'n Dale' s Tree House again!

Lindsey, great report!!! Yes WDW does need to look into having Jack Sparrow out for meet and greets all the time!!! I am so glad I was able to meet him at the Pirate and Princess party and also looking forward to seeing him at DL over on PL!!!
Oh my gosh, I love DL's take on BBB, could you actually get makeovers there? I might have to check that out in March and then get one in Dec. if they actually do the makeovers, did you happen to notice? It looks very cool in there and I can't wait to check it out!!!:goodvibes
You are so right about DL's toontown, it is so awesome, when I was there last June, I just couldn't stop taking it all in, the people I was with kept wanting to move but in March I am going to spend some good time there. I love the Christmas tree, can't wait to see it in Dec.,sure hope they keep the same one, but I would imagine they do, probably a tradition of some sort. At least that is what I am hoping. It is just like walking into cartoon land there.
Can you tell me a little bit about Roger Rabbit's car toon spin, what is it like, I haven't tried it yet but would like to but just curious as to what it does.

Disneyland's Princess Boutique is different than BBB. They do hair styles and things like that, but I don't think it's as detailed as it is in WDW. It looked like it was for small children, so I'm not too sure. They didn't have as many crazy looks like WDW does. :goodvibes
Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin takes you through the movie pretty much, like a typical Disney Fantasyland ride. You ride in your Toon Town Taxi, connected to another taxi, and you spin! It's a fun ride!
I love the pictures from the Pirates Lair. I wish they would bring that to WDW. It seems like there are so many lands in DL. Your pictures are great.. Thanks for bringing the magic to your trip report. Now how do I tell dbf that we have to go to Disneyland... lol

My thoughts exactly!
It's so much better than the WDW!
But, like I learned...Toon Town is Disneyland is where the characters live and the Toon Town Country Fair in WDW is more like their vacation spot.

It's so weird to me that almost everything in Disneyland is outside and not covered, ride, restaurants, etc. Every time I say that, I get responses like...it's not like FL, the weather is better....but I've only been there twice and it rained both times for a couple days and then it was windy & cold. So, I don't agree.

It's just like the rest of the typical Fantasyland rides taking you through the movie and this time you are in your Toon Town Taxi. But, it's a little more entertaining, since it's faster and you spin! It's always crowded, so it's a favorite for many. :)

Main Street- Classic Disney
It was late in the afternoon and we had dinner reservations over back at the Disneyland Hotel for dinner. We were going to go back a little early to rest before our dinner at Hook's Pointe.
We made our way near Sleeping Beauty's Castle and did some more exploring. We found this beautiful area to the right of the Castle dedicated to Disney's first Princess, Snow White and, of course, Disneyland has a wishing well too!
http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33302918_6540.jpg

We made our way to the front of the Castle and I spotted the Horse-Drawn Streetcar. I just had to ride it down Main Street, so we hopped into the back of the streetcar for our quick tour down Main Street.

We got off and then I saw the Omnibus and I have never ridden on one, so we just had to take the ride back down Main Street. Of course, we had to climb up the stairs in the back of the bus, so we could sit on top.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33303148_9230.jpg

We got dropped off in front of the Castle and then we walked over to Tomorrowland to catch the Monorail back to the Disneyland Hotel. There is a ramp you walk up to get to the Monorail station, which overlooks the Nemo's Submarine Voyage and it's a beautiful spot!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33303150_9779.jpg

The Monorail pulled into the station and we were on our way to the Disneyland Hotel. I love the Monorails at Disneyland because they are completely decorated for the Year of a Million Dreams celebration.

Hi Lindsey, Your photos of Main St are beautiful, glad you were able to ride both the carriage and the bus up and down Main St., how very cool. The photos of Nemo are cool, I remember coming across the monorail like that in June and thinking how pretty that was and wishing so much that Nemo was open. But it will be neat to ride it in March.
Thank you for the update on Roger Rabbits car tune spin, it sounds very cool. Do you know does it spin a lot? I am just curious because I get sick if something spins and spins, so I was just curious as to how much spinning it did.
DL's BBB looks very cute, I guess it might just be geared towards small children but trust me I am not above going in there and getting my hair done, I will have to wait and check it out in March, and if I am up to it, maybe get it done in Dec. After all when we are at Disney, we are all child like.

Thanks Jen! Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin does spin a lot and it can be pretty jerky at certain spots. It's not as bad as the Tea Cups, but it does spin! You'll have to let me know if you decide to checkout the Disney Princess Fantasy Faire. I know they had a poster up there showing the different hair and make-up options, but I don't remember. I wish I had taken a photo of it now. I'm trying to rewrite my TR that I lost, but it's hard. It's never as good the second time around when I'm writing.

Let it Snow!
We got to the Disneyland Hotel and did some more exploring around the grounds. It's amazing how large it really is and how much there is to see. We came across a beautiful waterfall area near the back of the Disneyland Hotel area, which was just amazing! The area was quite large with bridges and walkways. It was very neat and almost a hidden location that I'm sure most people don't realize it there. You can actually walk behind the waterfall; it was just beautiful!

It was time for our dinner reservation at Hook's Pointe, which is right outside next to the Neverland Pool. There is also a Wine Cellar under the restaurant and I just love the rustic feel of the place.

We made our way up the stairs to the entrance of the restaurant and they had a cute little Christmas tree outside on the porch. We entered the dining room and it was just beautiful! I loved the entire theme of the place, since I am such a "Peter Pan" fan! This is has become one of my favorite Disneyland restaurants!
I quickly noticed the Jolly Roger and Captain Hook woodwork design and it was stunning! You can spot Captain Hook to the right of the Jolly Roger. Look closely!

Just like the rest of my meals in Disneyland, I started off with some nice hot tea, which the poor waitress almost spilled all over us. Luckily, we were fine and we tried to make her feel okay about it. We could tell she was pretty embarrassed.

We were too full for dessert and we had to get back over to Disneyland to enjoy the Christmas lights one last time. I just had to go take pictures of "It's a Small World" Holiday. It is just so beautiful covered in all of the bright lights. We actually rode on the Disneyland Railroad and it takes you through the outside of the ride and you have the best view of the lights! They also do a small show on "It's a Small Word," which is a must-see! They actually turn all of the lights off and then they have different Christmas images that appear on the building dancing to music from "The Nutcracker." It's very neat and just another great touch of Disney Christmas Magic!

We spent the rest of the evening riding our favorite rides again and enjoying all of our favorite Disneyland spots. It was getting late and that meant it was almost time for the "Believe...In Holiday Magic" Fireworks Spectacular. We arrived about 20 minutes early and found the perfect spot in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Right before the Fireworks Spectacular was about to start, a voice came over the speakers announcing that the fireworks had been cancelled because of the high winds. The sound of disappointment echoed all the way down Main Street. I was so upset because we were not going to be able to see the Christmas Fireworks. We had waited to see them on our last night in Disneyland, so we had skipped seeing them a couple of nights before when the show actually went on.
We turned to make the slow walk down Main Street and I heard beautiful music coming across the speakers. I turned around and saw the Castle twinkling and I quickly grabbed my video camera. We looked down Main Street and it began to snow! It was snowing everywhere and it was such a Magical moment! The "White Christmas" music was just so moving and it was one of those Disney moments, where you just get chills. It was our last night in Disneyland and it was a Magical way to say to good-bye.
Video: Winter Christmas Lights on Sleeping Beauty Castle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkeTky3ykUs)
We followed the crowds down Main Street and it was our last night, so that meant it was time to do some last minute shopping! Disneyland has many neat specialty stores, including Disney Clothiers, which I love! I think I spent almost a hour in there, since they leave the stores open for a hour after park closing. I found a Mickey hat, Pirates of the Caribbean jacket, and Thumper long-sleeve shirt that I just had to buy!
The park had official come to a close, so DH & I decided to take the long way to the Disneyland Hotel through Downtown Disney, so we could do a little more shopping on the way. Plus, DH had to pick-up some more yummy kettle corn. It was sad to know once we got back to our hotel that I would be packing our bags and we would be leaving this Magical place.

"Now it's time to say good-bye..."
It's all about the Magic!
It was sad to wake-up to my alarm going off. Usually, it's exciting because it's going to be a full Disney day, but not today. We still had a great Cali vacation to look forward to, but it's sad to have to say good-bye to Disneyland. We did have reservations for breakfast at Steakhouse 55, which is inside the Disneyland Hotel. It would be the perfect send-off to our stay at the hotel.
I got up to get ready for the day and DH took our luggage down to pack our rental car. I told him I'd meet him down at the Neverland Pool when I was ready. It was a long ride down the elevator after I had to leave our lovely room.
It was another chilly and windy California morning, but DH & I wanted to go take one last walk around Neverland Pool because I just love it!

It was getting close to our breakfast reservation and we made our way over to Steakhouse 55, which meant we got to take another nice walk around the grounds of the Disneyland Hotel.

Steakhouse 55 was a very elegant restaurant and it had such a Walt Disney feel to it. It was like an old Hollywood lounge and it felt like you were stepping back in time when you entered the restaurant.
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33303169_5085.jpg

It felt very much like the Hollywood Brown Derby with pictures of old black & white celebrity photos all over the walls. We got seated at the neat round booth with a photo of Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz behind us, who I adore! It was the best seat in the place, in my opinion!
http://photos-324.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v166/12/63/25002324/n25002324_33303172_5930.jpg

Let me just say that the food at this restaurant was absolutley amazing! They were the most elegant and wonderful pancakes we've ever had! I ordered Bananas Foster Pancakes and DH had Mixed Berry Pancakes. They were so filling and, oh, so good! The presentation was beautiful too.

We were stuffed and I decided that we were in no rush to check into our other hotel in Universal City, so we were going to make a quick stop at California Adventure. I really wanted to go see "The Magic of Brother Bear" show, so we arrived early enough to make the first seating. The show is only a few days a week, so I am glad we weren't going to miss it.

We took one last ride on California Screamin' and the giant Sun Wheel before we had to say good-bye to Disneyland. We made the walk back through Downtown Disney and picked-up smoothies at Jamba Juice before getting in out car at the Disneyland Hotel parking lots. We were leaving the Magic, but we still had five busy days of California fun ahead of us!
Our Trip to Disneyland has come to an end...
But, there is more California fun coming soon!
Plus, more Disney Magic! :wizard:

Lindsey, as always you have some beautiful photos, the grounds at the DL Hotel look amazing and I can't wait to see them. The Neverland pool is awesome and I can't wait to see it, don't think it wil be warm enough in Dec. to swim, but thats ok. There will be too much to see and do at DL itself. So that is fine.
Steakhouse 55 looks amazing. Their breakfast sounds yummy, I might have to add it to my list of places to check out, I love all the photos, really loved the one of Walt, very cool and the food just looks yummy, now I am in the mood for some pancakes.
I am sure you were very sad that your alarm went off and you knew it was your last day at DL, but it sure sounds like it started off to be a magical Disney morning, the Brother Bear shows sounds great and I can't wait to ride California Screamin, it looks so cool.
Can't wait to hear more about your CA trip and the special Disney touches.:goodvibes

WB Studios
We woke up early the next day because we were going on a black lot tour at Warner Brothers Studios and I couldn't wait. We got to WD Studios early and we were also able to get a discount because of the Writer's Strike, which sadly didn't end by the time we got to Los Angles. Even worse, it's still going on! Yes, picketers were a highlight of our trip, along with honking and people cursing at them from their cars. Oh, how I love LA!

We were able to go inside "The Tellers" home, which was fun because this is where they filmed some of my favorite "Friends" episodes. All of the flashback episodes pretty much had a scene in this house, including the Prom Video, which was the best! Everyone, including me, thinks DH looks like Ross aka David Schwimmer, so I had to have him sit on the staircase where he sat in that episode before Rachael and Monica went to the prom.

Then, we went to the working-set of "ER," where we got to see the "actual" hospital and ambulances. You'll recognize this from almost every opening scene in "ER" or any scenes right outside the hospital.

I am on my way to the rest of your trippie.
I will be sure to write a trip report about our Adventures by Disney trip. It is going to be so exciting.

Lindsey, so sad to see your Disney trippie come to an end, but I will be sure to jump over to the rest of your trippie as California has a very special place in my heart. I have a funny feeling there will be other special Disney touches with the rest of your trippie.:goodvibes

Great trip report - thank you! We were in DL the same time as you last May, it sounds like. We were bummed to miss the opening of Nemo and the POC on the island! We are planning our next trip for this June and we can't decide if we should do a few days in LA or not, so it was nice to read your TR.
Thanks!
