Is the snorkeling equipment considered a shore excursion? Should we reserve it ahead of time? or is there plenty to go around?

We reserved the CC package (including snorkel gear, float, and 1 hr. bike rental) just recently, because others here have said that the line at CC can get long and the gear will sell out on occasion.

We just rented one package, figuring we'll share the stuff amongst ourselves. :)

DCL does consider Snorkel Equipment Rental an excursion, and now that they allow advanced reservations for excursions, it would probably be a good idea to reserve in advance since a lot of people are likely to rent snorkel equipment. Then you won't be disappointed.

Do you pay for the equipment at the time you reserve it before your cruise? I read on someone's trip report that after renting this equipment, it was an awful day and they were told visibility was 0%, so no one ended up snorkeling, although they were free to try. I hate to pre-pay if something like that could happen. Are you safe to just decide once you see the weather and still be able to get equipment?

I was told that the charge would be on my stateroom bill, but they didn't say whether I could cancel it or not ahead of time.

I've got a similar question to Daltonsdodisney. We have reservations for parasailing at CC. If the weather won't permit it, we won't have to pay for it, will we?
