View Full Version : DDP quotas at table-service places?

When I call for ADRs, I am asked if I am on the DDP. I often wonder if there are quotas on the number of DDP patrons per evening/time slot for table-service restaurants. The last few times I've called and I answered that I am on DDP, the agent has said nothing is available.

Of course, I could lie and say no, but then if there is something available, I'd feel pretty silly booking it as a DDP.

Does anyone know whether quotas are maintained? It could just be that I'm a conspiracy-theorist ;)

It's interesting to speculate about, perhaps, but there is no real reason to believe that they're asking for any reason other than what they tell you if you ask a manager: They pass this information through to the restaurant so that when you're seated your server has a better chance of knowing that you intend to use the Dining Plan, so your server can better help you understand the parameters of the plan (i.e., what is and is not included with the plan, including what you might be missing out on by not knowing that it is included).

Thx a mint for your reply. That makes sense and I never thought of that. I guess I expected them to ask after they found an open time slot.

I think the other reason they ask is because not all restaurants are on the dining plan and some cost 2 TS. If they know you are on the plan, they can warn you about these situations.

I don't think there are any quotas or restrictions -- I think the other two posters are correct. Honestly, most of the time when I call for ADRs, I haven't made a decision about DDP yet, so I tell them that.

okay, I take it as innocent...was just curious why it was done. Thx a mint for all the replies!
