Thanks to Yonkrs_Girl for a list of FE Exchange participants.. :flower3:

The FE * Fun Exchange or Fish Extender Exchange* is a cute fun way to add a little more excitement to all our Dis Members and Families/Friends.. There is a Letter Holder next to your stateroom door in the shape of a Fish.. That is where the words "fish extender" comes from... Most people hang something with pockets on it or a Christmas Stocking or anything and everything else creative.. Then all the participants sneak around the ship and drop little fun items into your Fish Extender and try not to get caught .. It could be anything as simple as: Tattoos, Stickers, Mini Note Pads, Keychains, Toys and More.. This not a meant to Break Your Budget.. Even Handmade items are exchanged..

Any room for another?

DH & I were booked on the Eastern/Tortola 09/12/09 but we changed it to the Western 09/19/09. This is our anniversary and we thought it would be nicer to start a cruise rather than ending one on the day.

Last time we did the Western, we didn't really get get off the ship. I walked around Key West, and did a bit of shopping in Costa Maya, but that was it. Except for Castaway Cay of course! :goodvibes

Jasmine really liked Pompeii and Olympia so we'll probably go look at the ruins in Cozumel this time around. And I'll look for something interesting in Grand Cayman since she's never been off the ship there.

I'm glad we're doing the Western 2nd, because by that time she'll have had a chance to get her fill of the club (oh sorry, the LAB).

I also want to do a Dolphin swim sometime during the 2 weeks. And we really liked parasailing at Castaway Cay last month....

Thanks goodness for DU and their double shipboard credit! :worship:

Thinking about booking the 19 September cruise.. it just happens to be our anniversary, and we can't afford to go anywhere this year, so we are thinking of doing a cruise next year.

I must say, though, I am little concerned about the prices.. the cruise site is quoting me under $3000 for the two of us for a partial view balcony(navigator's veranda) is that right?! It's telling me the price is for the entire party in the stateroom, but I am so used to cruiselines telling you multiple times that the price is per person..and I was always under the impression that Disney was one of the more expensive lines out there.. but I paid MORE than that for our 7 night Mexican Riviera cruise on another line a couple of years ago for a comparable room.

could it be that I was mistaken and I could have been eating at Palos for years already?!

Right now the prices for this cruise are great! I'm not sure why. But I do expect they will go up soon. Over all Disney is usually more expensive than other lines. They don't have a casino to make money from, and they tend to not sell as much liquor as other lines. Add to that the cost of all the Youth Activities counselors, and you can see why they'd need to charge more. But like most things, if you look for a good deal on Disney, you can find one.

If you are interested in this cruise, I'd suggest booking now as the prices will definitely be going up!

sent my request in to the Unlimited website. DH even said he'd float the leave chit THIS year and pointedly remind his boss that last year they sat on it too long and we missed out on the cruise we had wanted to go on. I figure we can pay it off during the next year and not be pressed to come up with fundage right away.

and of course, making sure there is a military clause in the insurance. cuz with my luck he'll be deployed....

I just found a OLD (series E) Savings bond that has stopped accruing interest. it will pay off the cruise in one shot.. But I had already budgeted where the cruise money was coming from, same with my student loans.. BUT we are putting a deck in this summer(hence the reason we can't afford to go anywhere this year).

So, conundrum:

Pay off cruise waaaayyyy early
-
or
-
Pay 1/13(yes we calculated it out) of the SL now(grace period ends September) and save maybe a couple hundred bucks in interest in the long run
-
or
-
add the Bond to the funds set aside for the deck, and either upgrade the deck or borrow less. The deck will add about $35-50k to the value of the house, allowing us to lose PMI quicker.

Decisions, decisions.......:headache:

well, it appears as if His Squidness will be deploying after all. he just volunteered to do a 12 month IA, which would get him back just before the cruise( he did at least double check the dates before volunteering, most likely to save himself being drawn and quartered by a VERY irate wife)

so, in addition to the REAS package, would there be anything else that you would recommend as a MUST do? I was thinking either a couples massage or even just a spa day for him in addition to Palos and any excursions we might do.

I found a place on the Dis boards she could look. It's hard to believe people aren't as addicted as we are. My parents first took me to Disney in 1974. That's when they realized no child under 6 should go if they were going to keep their sanity. For some reason they still kept taking my sisters & I. Every year since 2001 they have taken my sisters and myself & our families to Disney. I've been more times than I can remember. This will be my first cruise and I'm not sure how I'll make it to next September. :scared1: :scared1:

Oh, oh, can I join this group? I'm doing a happy dance because we're finally booked! Going with DH and our two guys who'll be 11 and 9 at the time of the cruise.

Does any one know - my younger one will be 2 months shy of his bday and would really like to hang with older brother in the Lab (they hung together alot on our last DC in Dec., but they were both in the 8 -10 year old group) - will the counselor's allow him to go with the older group since he will be so close to 10? I've read that they will allow without problem when you're within a month of birthday - but he'll be another month shy of that. Okay - hopefully that made sense.

Welcome to the newcomers!

Yes, you should be able to keep your sons together with no problem. On our first DCL cruise my DD was 4 months shy of her 5th birthday. We asked to put her in the 5-7 year old group with her cousin and they immediately said yes. They understand that you know your kids best, and will work with you.

Hello to all! Fresh off the Magic 4/5-12 western cruise with DH and DD6. While on board we booked for 9/19/09 with friend and fellow diser yonkersgirl and her family (DH,DS8 and DD5) and two other friends. Decided to toss our hat into the ring. I mean we have a mere 521 days til we board the Magic again for another memory filled week of fun. Thus no time to waste! Guess it is the Cruise withdrawl talking!!! We did the Fishextender thing for the first time last week and the kids all LOVED it. So if any of you lot want to get in on the FE action speak up. I Know Yonkersgirl and I are both game.
Other than that lets hope the next 521 days fly by so we can get this party started!

Hi!

Outside every stateroom there is a Bronze Fish that notes, etc. can be left on for you from DCL or other guests. The "extender" is either fabric or plastic and it hangs from the fish. Those who sign up for the fun bring surprises to put in all the extenders of those participating at some time during the cruise. It's so much fun to see things appear in them and see what goodies you have gotten. On our cruise in April we had lots of cool stuff from magnets, toys, candy, notepads, stickers, beads, etc. and some people use things from where they are from :) :)

Hope that helps

Thanks. Sounds like fun! Do we sign up on a list? I can't wait for the cruise. I was excited when we booked, then we found this board and now I can hardly wait! I'm glad I found this board. I never would have thought to make magnets for the doors or know how to meet other people going on the cruise before hand. You guys make it more exciting than it already is. :cloud9:

On our past cruise, we just had someone keep track of a list and then posted updates as we got closer to the cruise so that everyone would know which Cabins and how many, etc. We just did the gifts per cabin and not geared toward each person in the cabin. Sometimes we got stuff that was just for the kids, sometimes for the family, sometimes both :-)

I can keep the list of everyone unless someone else has started one or wants to do it :) Just let me know and I will get it started:thumbsup2

So, we will get to experience the Wonder for the 1st time so that will be cool!

I have started the Roster and will post it this weekend and then those who want to be added can let me know and I will just keep updating it every few weeks and of course before we leave, make sure it's accurate with Cabin Numbers, etc. which I can send via PM if everyone would prefer it that way :)

:worship:

Just wanted to share about what we did on our cruise in April...

We tried a gorgeous park in Cozumel for the first time on our April '08 cruise - Chankanaab Park. It was just a 15 minute cab ride from the port and it was amazing - gorgeous beach, very cool pool, dolphin experiences, Myan Ruin Replicas (my DS loved these) and more!

In Grand Cayman we went to Boatswain's Beach! It was AWESOME - it is mainly a Turtle Farm and you get to pick up and hold the turtles - my kids were at the Turtle Tanks almost the entire time (more than 3 hours!!!). They also have an Aviary, snorkling, beach and pool. We ALMOST got rooked into paying an insane amount for a cab until we followed some who had been to the island before and took the bus for $2.50 each! It was completely safe (we had DS - 8 and DD -5 ) and we got to see some cool sites along the way. GC also has a beautiful public beach.

I will post some photos once I remember how to do that here :rolleyes1

Will you be going to these on the cruise?

If I remember correctly, the fee was $16 for adults and $8 for kids. If you use the link below there is a place in the upper right hand corner where you can print a coupon for $2 off each adult and $1 off each child. You have to fill out a form but I did that and didn't get any spam or anything else. It was an amazing park and we plan on going back and getting there as early as we can when we get to Cozumel again. The cab was $20 for the 6 of us that went over (one way). The entrance fee we paid was for access to everything but it did NOT include the snorkleing or Dolphin Experiences, which are build seperately. The link has alot of info but feel free to ask anything else you want to know :)

We absolutely loved it - us, our kids and our friends who went that do not have kids. They spent most of the time on the beach in chairs under a straw unbrella with some beverages :) We plan on doing a Dolphin Swim next time we go. The only thing I would say is that you would need Water shoes for the beach area. It was very rough on the feet. They are not needed at Castaway Cay but we felt it they would have been great to have at the park.

I will post some photos as well - working on those now :-)

HI disneyfanatics...

There were taxis waiting outside of Chankanaab and we just asked one of the men who worked there which one we could take. There seemed like there were at least 7 taxis waiting and then 3 vans (which we needed for our party of 6). Just be sure you know the price up front before you take the ride. But it was encouraging that the first person we asked all the way to the driver said the same amount ($20). You have to go through the shopping center at Cozumel to the back of it and there are taxis lined up out there.

Hope that helps! Just let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi,
Just wanted to introduce us. I am Vicki, and my DH is Greg. We just got off the WB Repo, and have booked the Sept. 12,2009 Eastern, and the Sept 19,2009 Western. Several of our fellow Repo cruisers have also booked the B2B. I am not sure we will ever be able to do 7 nights. Our 1st Disney cruise was 4 nights in Dec. 2007, and then the 15 night Panama. We have really enjoyed the Disney cruises, except for one huge problem last month. We do not have any children, except for 2 adorable miniature longhaired dachshunds.::yes:: It seems like such a long time until the cruises, but I'm sure the time will fly by starting next summer.
We look forward to cruising with everyone, we have met some of the nicest people on a cruise. Vicki

Hi Wendy,
That sounds great. Have you ever done a b2b before? The CM told us when we booked the 2nd week that we actually have to get off the ship with the other passengers on the 19th, go through customs, and actually re-checkin at the CC desk just like we were just getting there. Apparently we then can reboard, and go on ship-we do not have to wait for general boarding. She said that there would probably not be any restaurants or pools open, and some areas on the ship may be blocked off, but we could go to our rooms. Does this sound right to anyone who has done it? I had assumed that we just stayed on board, but I guess not.:confused3 :goodvibes Vicki

Hi Vicki,
Yes, as Stacy said the latest version I've heard is that all the B2B folks are escorted off the ship together after the general disembarkation, and then immediately rechecked for the next voyage.

Craftymouse did a great trip report from her B2B last December. She also talks about how it works if you have to change rooms (she was upgraded the second week).

Here we are.....me and DH just got off a 15 night cruise and fear that we'll never be able to take a 7 night again.....so we're booked b2b on this cruise and the one before it going East with Tortola. This will be our first b2b. It will be myself, Deb, and my DH, John, travelling together. The eastern will be our 7th DCL cruise and this one will be our 8th.....we ONLY cruise DCL. I'm waiting for one of those new ships to go to Hawaii.....that's what I want to do!

By the way, I've already been looking at excursions and I'm interested in finding hotels with pools and bars to hang out at on the excursions. If anyone runs into anything like this, please let me know. Thanks.

I will post a list and then as everyone has their Cabin #'s as we get closer - I will send PM's with that info. as well to those doing the FE. I know we have plenty of time but I am a BIG planner - especially when it comes to anything Disney and Our DCL Cruises most - so bear with me ;)

Hope everyone is doing well! We have been home bound - my son had surgery last week and is recovering but getting better every day and the tumor on his leg was confirmed to be BENIGN so that was great news!

Hope everyone is doing well! We have been home bound - my son had surgery last week and is recovering but getting better every day and the tumor on his leg was confirmed to be BENIGN so that was great news!

Happy Summer everyone!:flower1:

That is great news about your son's operation.:thumbsup2

Thanks, Marilyn! It was a scary time since he is only 8 but we are through it now and he is recovering well and is getting stronger on his leg every day :-) It was a huge blessing that it was not nearly as bad of a recovery as we thought it would be!

Hello Eveyone!

Here is the list I have so far for FE Fun :cool1: If I have missed anyone, please let me know and I will update my post. If you need any info. on the FE fun - please post and we can answer for any first-timers :) I have listed in alphabetical order for now but may list by Cabin # as we get closer - let me know what you think! Also, do we want to track how many kids/ages per group in case anyone wants to do specific for the kids?

Thanks!

Monica! So glad to hear that DS is recovering well. I can not imagine how stressful waiting for the results of the tumor had to be for you. So this next cruise of yours couldn't be coming at a better time! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Hi everyone! We just booked, I'm so excited! This will be my 3rd DCL cruise, but a first for my dd's and my dh. He is an avid SCUBA diver, any ideas on excursions for him to do that? I'm sure there are some, but my first 2 cruises are only 3 day Bahamas, and I didn't pay too much attention. Sign us up for FE too, my oldest dd will be 9, my younger will be 2. Thanks, can't wait!!!!

Thanks, Chris! He is just about back to normal now and cannot wait to get back to swimming later this week. It's hard to believe that tomorrow will be 2 weeks since his surgery! He has recovered so quickly - it's all been a huge belssing on how well the outcome has been!

I will be sure to report about our 4-night but I know we will miss our 7-night as that is what our other 2 have been. But since we haven't been to the parks since April '07 - we decided to do both this September for school break:)

We visited Boatswain's Beach (Turtle Farm) in Grand Cayman and had a blast! We all loved it. They have the Turtle Tanks where you can hold the turtles and then a beach, pool, snorkeling, Awesome small Aviary, Gardens with a trail, etc. It really was a great day there! I can post some photos if anyone wants to see those :)

I know it's a long way off but we found this and used it when we were there...it's a coupon on page 48 (upper left corner) for 10% off Admission - it does not show an exp. date or anything.

We will definitely be going back here when we go on our cruise - we didn't really want to see any of the other sites or do the beach (but they have a beach there as well) and wanted something different to do :)

Hi everyone, we have just booked for the 19 Sept 2009 cruise. Its our first time cruising not just DCL. It will be me, dh and 2 dd's - 7 and 4(nearly 5) at the time of the cruise. I'm so excited. We will have 2 weeks at WDW following the cruise. We will travel from Australia to LAX on 17 Sept and probably overnight there and travel to MCO early on 18 Sept so that we are all refreshed for the cruise. I haven't booked anything else yet, its just a bit too early but wanted to make sure that we got what we wanted for the cruise.

ya know It occurred to me I needed to stop by and check in.

any rumors as to when the booking will open up for post 2008 cruises( esp. REAS? ) Andrew from UK is suggesting August. not terribly concerned, but this will be a (one year late) 10th anniversary cruise and I want to be able to have as much budgeted and paid for this year as I can so that next year when it will cost as much to fly to ORL :rotfl2: as the cruise is costing, I won't have to dip into the emergency funds....

Cuz I am also researching other packages like one of the wine packages( we are CA wine snobs and proud of it) and the occasional shore excursion. our last cruise we spent most of it asleep in the cabin,so we kinda sorta promised we'd actually, you know DO stuff this time... :rolleyes1

Hi everyone! It's nice to see lots of familiar "faces" on this thread. I was on the WB Panama cruise. It was my very first cruise :goodvibes So of course I booked another cruise on board, Tortola Sept12-19. After I got home I decided to book this one too. After a 15 night cruise I knew 7 nights wouldn't be enough! So I'm doing the B2B :cool1: I'm so excited that so many of my fellow cruisers have decided to do the same :goodvibes So I'd like to introduce myself to those who don't know me yet, and say hi to those that do! I am widowed, so cruised the WB solo, and will cruise Sept12-19 solo. But for this cruise, my daughter will be joining me :thumbsup2 She is married, but her DH doesn't want to cruise :confused3 She has never cruised....so this will be my 3rd cruise and her first...I'll be able to show her the ropes :goodvibes ;)

Guys, I need GOOD vibes my way.

DH came home last night and said his specific department has been tasked with providing an O3 for a one year deployment..that ends in late October 2009.

Guess who is still an O3?! and right now all the prices for the same exact category on another cruise are anywhere from $500-$1800 more pushing it out to November or December. the cheapest increase is actually an Eastern In November. itinerary isn't THAT much of a deal breaker, but the price we paid I was happy with. Not sure I am going to be able to talk myself into having to fork over more. affording it isn't the issue, hell, he will make enough money just in Combat pay and the other special pays for being deployed to Upgrade to a Cat 6 or even 5.

and lord knows that he will NEED a break when he gets back. So I am being silly. I KNOW I can reschedule, I KNOW we can afford it it. But dangit.. It's bad enough we can't go this year due to other reasons. I don't wanna wait an extra month or two. waaahhhhhh:sad1:

he told me NOT to panic, he's volunteered twice already and they have told him he cannot go. it's by no means a done deal, and he may not be the one to go. But I am grumpy anyway....

Oh I can understand the grumpyness! I would be too if I had to delay a long planned vacation, even by a few months. I don't really understand all the terminology about being an O3(from the UK), but he is great to volunteer. Perhaps as you say he won't have to go, so you don't need to reschedule the cruise just yet.

WELCOME! Sorry that I haven't replied about your Fish Extender question - have been out of town for the last 12 days. Here is a link to a thread that describes alot about the Fish Extenders, etc. Basically, if you sing up - you can either make or buy a Fish Extender and then we all exchange gifts on any night that you want to leave your surprises. It's so much fun to see things appear in your FE and to discover what they are. Please let me know if you have any other questions about it and if you would like to sign up and I will be sure to add you to the list at Post #104. I will post another updated list next month and just keep updating so we don't have to go so far back in posts :-)

Room in here for a few more??? Just booked this cruise for my family. At the time of the cruise, it will be:

Me (Scott, 36)
DW (Amanda, 33)
DS (Tyler, 5)
DD (Ashley, 5)

This will be our second cruise. We did a 4-day Wonder last September. Went by too quickly so now we're going with the 7-day. Don't plan on telling the kids until their birthday in April. :confused3 Doubt I'll make it that long. I still need to go back and read the previous posts in this thread, but wanted to go ahead and touchbase with our fellow cruisers! :woohoo:

I'm glad to see so many families on board! Although I've been on DCL 6 times, this will be our first 7 day!!! My husband feels this is too long to be on a boat! Crazy man. We tried to find space for a four day in 2008 and had to accept the 3 day with the agreement that we would take a 7 day the next year!!!! YAHHHH!!!! I'm so excited! I've lived in FL a while and admit I have never been to Key West so that port is exciting to me!

We'll be making Door Decs so look for those Mickey Mouse Paint CHips!!!

I would love to hear from any families that have a child/children the same ages as ours! They could be pen pals (an almost extinct activity) before they meet on the ship!!!

Here's our roster at time of sailing:
DD 4
DD 6 (almost 7)
Me 30+
DH 40???

I'm looking forward to reading through the posts further to "meet" everyone!!!

We are going - 4 of us
My Disney Mama ANNA age 54
My Disney Aunt MARGO age 51
Myself AMANDA age 27
My DS SEAN age 10( 11 at trip time)

WHOO HOO!

It's our first cruise also. My boys will be 12 & 13. My youngest Kyle was wondering if your son is into Star Wars. I've been making him Star Wars magnets for our door. I have never done anything like this before so it has been a definite learning experience! Not to mention a huge lesson in patience, not only for making the magnets, but waiting for the trip. :rotfl2: We booked in February and I was beginning to think I wouldn't make it until the 1 year mark, but we're almost there!
Is anyone else making magnets for thier doors?

My DS will be almost 10 at cruise time and he has a penpal for our Sept. '08 cruise that he emails back and forth with so let me know if you want to do the same :)

I hope I'm not butting in, but my son will be 12 when we cruise and he would love to have a pen pal. My guys are homeschooled and like to hang w/ a variety of ages. He's crazy about Star Wars, Ben Ten, Stitch, & pin trading.

Hi! We are also on the Sept 19th, 2009 sailing and I noticed we have DDs almost the same ages! My DD 6 (almost 7) and DD 4 at time of cruise! I would love for them to have "penpals" to meet before the cruise. Are you up for it?
Amy

Hi Amy...

We will have our DD who will also be 6 almost 7 at the time of cruising and our DS will be 9 almost 10 at cruise time :-) We would love to have the girls become "e-pals".

Hello Everyone! I thought it might be easier to keep moving the list forward so we dont' have to go back as far and I will continue to add as newcomers want to be and if you already know your cabin - please send me a PM so I can keep track of those as well and I will send out a PM close to our cruise date to all of those participating so you will have the Cabin #'s for everyone.

Most people just do gifts for each Cabin not necessarily each person in the cabin. It can get pretty expensive if you try to have something for each person. Some of the gifts we got were for the family, some just for the kids, etc. Some did gift bags and some did individual items :-) It is just fun to see the surprises in the Extenders.

If I have missed anyone, please let me know :)

My DH and I just booked this cruise, our first ever!

I'm so excited! I wish DH shared my enthusiasm...he has agreed to this only because we'll be celebrating my...*cough* second 29th birthday around then, so I got to pick where we go. I think he'll come around, though... I keep reading tips, advice, and trip reports on the DISboards and feeding him the little tidbits he'll find interesting. Hopefully before we set sail, I'll have him as excited as I am! :)

I feel really silly because there's over a year to go and I'm already so excited! Plus there is so much info out there i'm sure i'll have forgot all the important bits by the time the cruise gets here

If anyone would like any of my DS's email addresses so they can have e-pals just PM me.

What type of things do we give out for the FE?

Yonkrs_Girl
08-20-2008, 01:22 PM
On our last cruise we received lots of a variety in our FE...stickers, pencils, candy, special things from the state where peopl were from, door magnets, Disney figures, tattoos, confetti, fun straws, notepads, etc. It can be anything. Some people make up goody bags and others just leave small items on their own in the FE's. It's so much fun to arrive at your cabin to a surprise. :yay:

After much debating with myself I just booked this cruise for next year. I am Lori and dh is Chris and our are daughters Cassidy and Courntey who will turn 9 and 6 while onboard. This will be our 4th family cruise and 3rd with Disney. We are going on Carnival this October, and I already miss DCL. LOL I am a huge Disney fan, and even a WDW cast member, but the ports we will do this year convinced me to try Carnival. At least knowing we will be on the Magic next year will make seeing her next to us in port in October a little easier for me. I look forward to getting to know my fellow cruisers over the next year.

Just thought I'd add our family to the list here. We are booked in a cat 6 GTY (makes me a little nervous as I've always had assigned staterooms before) and it will be my family's 3rd (but my 4th) Disney Cruise.

Sailing will be myself, DH, DS (15 at cruise time) and DD (turning 11 the week we get back, so celebrating on the ship).

I know that I probably won't post a ton until our cruise gets closer, but just wanted to say hello!

Hello Marilyn/Granmaz - I see you've done one of the repo cruises. I'll bet that was great, I'd like to do one someday as well. You are from the UK? I'll be over on that side of the "pond" next week and a little closer to you as I am going to Paris with my mom and sister. :)

Yonkrs_Girl, the FE thing sounds fun. I've read a bit about it, but wondering if everyone distributes little things on multiple days (i.e. a sticker one day, a pencil the next, etc.), or does everyone give something one time but each day has different people assigned to it (i.e. my gifts get distributed on Tues, yours on Thurs)? Thanks for the welcome, the info, and for managing that list. :) Btw, I see you're going on a cruise in a few days... have fun!!

The FE's are so much fun! I will add you to the list! The way they have worked the 2 times I have done them has been that you just "surprise" everyone on the list with whatever you want to give out at any time during the cruise. That way, it makes it eaiser since people all do so many different things ont he ship - they are not locked into a specific time. Some people make up little gift bags and include their DIS name on them and other just leave individual items...some also leave them anonymously.

We are cruising on the Wonder on Sunday and then spending 3 nights in the parks. We wanted to do the parks first but ti didn't work with the kids school schedules to do a 3-night (they have school break next week) and we also wanted to get to go to MNSSHP and that is only on the Friday of the week of our break. So, we got the bonus day and get to the the 4-night

Hi Jan, I want to cruise with you! I love that you do a lot of cruises and don't have to wait long inbetween.

This will be our 8th cruise and it'll be our 18th anniversary.....we're right behind you. But we only get to do one cruise a year. Can't afford the time or the money to do it more, but we want to.

We cruised in May this year, so we're just doing WDW this month. We leave next week and stay for 6 nights. I'm getting excited.

My DH Dave and I will be cruising with you! We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary. We just got off the Wonder yesterday. The 9/19/09 cruise will be our 12th DCL cruise. Going on the Magic in 2 weeks and again in January 09.

Can't wait to catch up on posts and getting to know fellow cruisers.

This is our first b2b too!

We did the 11 night in 06 and then a 4 night in 07 because we wanted to go to Atlantis. Then we did a 15 night in 08. How could we go back to a 7 night again? We said we need to do a b2b and some of our friends from the PC are also doing this b2b......so we had no choice but to join in.

......sure, twist my arm.....ha!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Now That's My Kind of Thinking!!! :thumbsup2

My parents and sister will be joining us, they are in a Cat. 8, just 4 doors down from our room. My sister has done DCL with me before, so she would like to do the FE also. She's not a DISer, is that ok?

Hello! Welcome to our Thread and cruise :) I bought my FE on eBay and some people make their own. Just let me know if you want to be added to our FE Fun List and I will be sure to add you to it :thumbsup2 This will be our 4th cruise.

We also made about 30 magnets to decorate our stateroom door for this past cruise. Some were for each special night (pirate, Castaway Cay, etc.). It's alot of fun and their are tons of design ideas on the boards!

Has anyone seen measurements on the FE's? I'd love to know so someone could make me one. What's a good rate for them on eBay?

Wonder if we met on the Wonder! I was with my family of 11, including 4 grandchildren. The youngest was a 2 year old redhead. I was not very active on that cruise thread knowing I'd be so busy with the family.

Good morning everyone, and hello JanDave and gwtinkerbell427. :)

I'm back from my Paris trip and ready to think more about the cruise... has anyone thought about excursions yet? I know we have a lot of veteran cruisers here, so any suggestions would be welcome. We are not big "lounge at the beach" people on vacation since we are lucky enough to live about 2 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. :) The last DCL we did (2005) was supposed to be a Western, but a hurricane changed that at the last minute. We had booked the dune buggy tour for Cozumel but I have heard that they were so wiped out they no longer do the "rugged" offroad beach part anymore, which was what interested us. I was looking around and Xcaret looks interesting.

For Grand Cayman I think we will do a stingray excursion... DH and I did that on our honeymoon and it was definitely a highlight. Would like to share it with my kids (although they are a little timid of the idea since Steve Irwin's untimely demise).

Love it that the counters are under one year!

I've been thinking about excursions as well and am really not sure what to do. I'm limited because of the age of my kids. My eldest will be 7 and is not frightened of anything and I would like to do the stingrays as well with her. My youngest though will be turning 5, 10 days after the cruise ends and is scared of everything. We will have just finished with winter here when we leave for our cruise so will be ready for sun and hot weather and hope to spend some time on the beach. Lots of thinking to do. I'd love some ideas from those more experienced cruisers.

Hi all, I am starting to get some items for my door and just wanted to clarify that you are only aloud to use magnets on the back of things, no tape. is that correct? I found some really cool mickey shapped ballons and have some postcards and am going to mine and my mom's name on mickey ears accross the door.
Is $30 a going price for a fish extender?

Hi Gretchen,

I know in the past you have not been allowed to use anything but magnets, I'm guessing it's still the same. If it's something that you are not printing out yourself on magnetic paper, you can get the sticky-back magnetic tape and use that to make your item magnetic.

You can pick up some types of "fish extenders" on eBay for about $10... just depends on what you want. I'll put a link below to a current eBay auction just for reference... looks like the seller is in Australia, but the actual item is $2 with around $8 for shipping I think. Then there are the custom ones that will cost you in the $30+ range. I've also read about people using just a rectangular shape or even custom decorated Christmas stockings. I guess anything you like that can hold the goodies. :)

Bet you can't guess what my name is from my screen name. :rotfl:

Hey everyone, I thought I would not be posting much this early on, but I guess my DIS addiction is back in full force, cause I'm haunting the boards again. :surfweb:

Has anyone decided where they are staying pre-cruise yet? We stayed at the Radisson on our first family cruise, and on the second one in Oct. we stayed at WDW and went to MNSSHP the night before, then drove to the port in the a.m. and parked. I'm thinking we will do the Radisson again this time, but I have a newer car now and I'm not sure if I want to leave it there. Still, saving $105 on parking is pretty nice...

Hey Gretchen,

My cruise group is me, my DH and my DS14 and DD10.

I think the best way to find someone from a past cruise is to look up the cruise meet thread from that cruise. If it's the 5 night cruise, there are two threads, one closed (but you could still maybe find her DIS name by reading it) and a continuation thread that is still open (you might be able to just ask on there and someone may know). Here are the links:

Original thread for 9/01/08 cruise (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1343812) (closed but still readable)

Open Thread for 9/01/08 cruise (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1709991) (continuation thread)

Good luck, hope you find her. :)
