Hello Everyone:wave2:
After lurking, posting, and bombarding many other DisPeeps pages I decided to do my own TR.....I'm not much of a writer so I will let my pictures do most of the talking....I'll give you guys as many details as possible without trying to bore you to DEATH
We were there Dec 8-15 and the trip was WONDERFUL!!! I only took about 1000+ pics, and is the reason I decided to do a photo TR.....there are only 60 photos I uploaded for the first day so I hope I don't wear you guys out early .....and I will try to do this as quickly as I can....but no promises b/c I go back to the real world tomorrow, and between work, and trying to read all the other TR's I'm subbed to and also find along the way I'm a busy girl
First I will introduce the cast and characters :grouphug:
My hubby and I met in 2002 at a Luau....we got engaged on my birthday in '04 and were married 3 years from the day we met on 6-29-05
My hubby - 37 - has only been to Disney once as a child....His sister took him when he was about 9 and doesn't really remember much of anything about the trip other than the ghost sitting in his lap on HM
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/MattEllenWDW79.jpg
Myself - 32 - I went to MK for the first time when I was about 3 1/2....and my parents took me I think 4 times, but we all have disagreements about how many times we've been as a fam.....of course we only went to the MK....Epcot didn't open until I was 7....we were always vacationing in Daytona and would make the trip over to Orlando....I went back in 1995 as an adult :hippie:and have been 7 more times and LOVE every bit of it!!!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/EricaMK1979-1.jpg
And here's a pic of the 2 of us:
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/cutecouple.jpg
As you can see we already have SO much in common :lmao:
And here are our babies
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/IMG_0948.jpg
Darby and Dodger are my babies I've had them both for almost 12 years....
And Tank....he's the big baby we both adopted about 4 years ago
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/IMG_0914.jpg
**Disclaimer** ~~you will also see~~....I was OBSESSED:hyper: with the Castle....I could have sat and stared at it for HOURS :hourglass on end....and you will hear that many times along the way too :upsidedowHere's my fave:
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/P1030666.jpg
I just LOVE  this picture...and I may use it many times :goodvibes...I wish they would keep the castle like this everyday...it is SO beautiful!!
So lets gather around boys and girls....and a story you shall see :goodvibes
We left Nashvegas about 6:30a :moped: and headed to Orlando....we made it all the way and stayed at a beautiful :rotfl2: LaQuinta Inn on I-drive to be able to get to Disney and have a full day on Sat!!
We got to POFQ :jester: early and checked in and our room was READY!! So we got everything out of the car and unloaded in the room....we had 2 wonderful beds that we could NOT move together....with a couple accustomed to a king size bed I will say it did not make for the most comfortable sleeping situation....I was told to ask for a king at check-in, but I was so thrown off by our room being ready I didn't
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/P1020858.jpg
We also had a little 'thing' waiting for us too
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/P1020857.jpg
How cute :thumbsup2
And b/c I'm out of image room....on to the next post
We are all headed to Animal Kingdom!!!!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020327.jpg
We went to go get fastpasses for Everest....and then headed around to come in the backside of the Dinosaur area.....and this is what we see....IT'S a gigantic.....
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020311.jpg
oh....dino....my hubby and I both thought it looked like a big butt crack :rotfl2: and that was the laugh of the day for sure :lmao:
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020310.jpg
And here's our 'red-neck' pic of the Dino ride....we both look a little shocked by that huge thing screaming at us!!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020308.jpg
Next...we are off to EE!!!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020313.jpg
It was a lot of fun....I couldn't get a pic of our coaster ride but I think there is one later....but I thought this view was cool
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020321.jpg
Next we went to Yak & Yeti....it was very good....sorry guys I don't have any food porn...I know....I know...I'm actually ashamed :headache: to say my hubby kept me from taking pics b/c I thought he would think I had lost my mind!! But I'll try to remember for each what we had and pass on the goodness of all the meals :upsidedow
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/P1030232.jpg
For appy's I had lettuce wraps...very good :thumbsup2 and he had pork egg rolls...also very good....I got the Mahi-mahi and he had ribs....we were both so stuffed we only ordered one desert and it was the brownie sundae.....all AWESOME!!
We had also gotten FP for the Safari and so we headed back over there...on the way we went on one of the trails and saw this....
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020351.jpg
This gorilla cracks me up....no pun intended
on the way to the Safari we ran intohttp://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020329.jpgshe is VERY beautiful and I couldn't get very good pics of her....but she was following me....kind of ended up freaking me out  and then she went and hugged a tree
The safari pics:

I think this is the first time I've seen this guy awake
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020421.jpg
And before we left we went to hang out with the bugs...
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020360.jpg
We saw these guys on the way out....I thought they were very pretty
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020429.jpg

We headed straight for tomorrowland b/c the hubby wanted to ride Space Mountain....that was another thing he remembered about his trip....being mad at his sisters for not letting him ride it
We got FP's and then headed to Buzz....I think we went on this 3 times total...and I beat him all THREE!!! :woohoo:
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020475.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-8/P1020477.jpg
We skipped through Fantasyland and headed over to HM...which is what he wanted to do...and this is my FAVORITE ride at WDW so no complaints from me

Erica, your TR is off to a great start!
I see y'all have a mixed marriage (VU and UT). Fortunately, my wife is an Auburn fan like me. ;)
You and you're hubby make a nice looking couple! He looks quite tall. How tall is he?
I've seen a pic of Darby and Dodger before, but don't think I've seen Tank before. They're all cute!
WOW!!! The castle looks beautiful!!!
LOL @ the "big butt crack." :rotfl2:
I'm jealous that you got to eat at Yak & Yeti. I love Asian food and had read prior to our trip that it was opening some time this year. I was hoping it would be open when we went in July, but it didn't open until November. :sad1:
Looks like y'all had a great first day at WDW. Looking forward to reading more! :thumbsup2

HEY Scott and Randy!!!
Glad you guys are here :yay:
Scott - Thanks and I'm going to make my way to your PTR soon...I've read some of it but don't' think I've posted there
Randy - yes the mixed thing is fun...but not so fun sometimes....never mean spirited but just conflicts with games mostly....I end up going to a lot of VU games alone :sad1: or with other friends b/c the ut game time is the same
Matt is right at 6 foot...I'm the short one :rotfl: at 5'4 1/2 (and I hang onto that 1/2 :lmao: )
Poor Tank....from me he prob. gets treated like the red-headed step child....but really I've always said if he didn't' shed he'd be the perfect dog...he's wonderful
Yak and yeti was really good...Matt is not to hip on Asian food...but he really liked the ribs....the Mahi I ordered was fried, but picked it over the salmon....I peeled the breading off and it was Sooooooooo good!!!!!! You'll definitely have to go there next time!
I think I'm done with day one....and we'll see how quickly I get all of it finished  ....back to the real world tomorrow :guilty:

HI! Can I please swipe one of your castle photos to print and use as a clue?
I'm giving my girls (6 & 8) a trip to Disney and a Disney Cruise for Christmas - we leave on the 26th. This would be a wonderful photo to include in their box of clues. Thanks in advance!

We just got back from our field trip, and we have thirty minutes until a group of high schoolers comes to share Christmas treats with our school. So, while I had this few short minutes to myself, I had to get on and see what was up with my Dis buddies. I promise to read the trip report in full when I can catch a breath, but I just wanted you to know I am on board, and I haven't forsaken you! I can't see the pictures at work, unfortunately, so I'll have something to look forward to when I get home this evening!

Add us to the list of TN people who think it was dumb to get rid of Opryland! I took my kids there when they were little, and they loved it. I enjoyed the shows, too. It was a good mix. When they closed it, it was rumored that they were going to keep a couple of the rides so people could pay individually to enjoy them, but that didn't happen. I was at good old Opry Mills today, because we took our third-graders to the Rainforest Cafe. We got to walk one time around the mall before we left, but I can assure you that it's a different experience with a hundred eight and nine year olds.
Good Spectro pictures are hard to get. I get about one good one for every eight or ten I shoot. I'll try again next week, but I know it'll be so crowded that who knows where I'll be watching from.
Thanks for all the good pictures. It was good to put faces with names. The castle really was beautiful!

GREAT pics of spectro!!!!! usually everyone's pictures of this are blurry and completely don't do it justice.
Well when you take 5000 pics you usually get 50 good ones :rotfl2: .....but really I think I'll just be making up the plan to steal my dad's camera
i remember that guy!!!! i can't believe opryland is no more....now it's a stupid mall!
I know :sad2: .....definitely makes me angry that some stupid people can sit around a table and decide to close OUR park!! And definitely change Nashville along the way.....you know the first summer after Opryland closed was the first time in my life that the general public could aquire tickets to fan fair??!!?? Now they've changed the name of the dang thing and it's basically just a big concert.....just sucks....and I don't go to the mall much but always depresses me b/c you can still go look at the empty Grizzly track :sad1:

SORRY I was WRONG!! It was the summer after next that fan fair tickets were available to everyone....that first summer after it closed there were people still coming to Nashville thinking they were going to Opryland along with their Fan Fair tickets.....so yea it was a pretty ^$%ty deal :headache:

not to hijack your thread, but i found some pics of opryland i just had to share. these are the only ones i could find of all the times i've been there....which is crazy. i guess i just didn't keep any pictures of the other times. i'm sure my mom and dad have some. anyway, i think this is somewhere around 1987. i look like i'm about 11. i'm the chic in the yellow shirt (with my supercool hi-top reeboks), my sister (brooke) is the little girl in the pink shirt and my little brother (brett - the one you met at the vandy game, believe it or not) is the cute little blonde-headed kid. my dad's also in a few of them....he's the guy with brown hair and a '70's style porn mustache. :lmao:
here we are petting the poor, tortured deer at the petting zoo....

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n187/punkin413/File0055.jpg
brooke and brett on some kiddie rides. check out brett's death grip on the air plane!!!

us on the grizzly river rampage. i'm throwing my hands up in the air and brooke is leaning in towards me as to not get wet (yeah, right). do you remember how long the line used to be for that ride?????
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n187/punkin413/File0059.jpg
and finally, my dad, my sister and me on the old mill scream getting wet yet again. we used to sit on the balcony after the ride and get SOAKED by boats coming down the hill. so silly! my stepmom has a video of us going up the hill and you can hear my little brother crying, "i don't wanna do it, i don't wanna do it.....i have to pee!!!!!" :rotfl2: if only he could see that now!

Hijack on sister!!
Those are GREAT photos...and EVERYTHING you said I think we did also...be sure and look for me in the background of your pics :rotfl: ...sitting on the bridge of the exit of the Old Mill Scream used to be one of our faves....I remember sloshing around there several days.....The Grizzly was my FAVE ride...and I would wait the 2 hours to ride it :woohoo: ...and then go get on the swings to cool off :cold: ....so many fun times
I found a few pics also :upsidedow
Same pic but your 'country' wheel was much prettier painted....I remember when they did that
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Opryland79.jpg
And those Balls!!!! Oh how they must have been NASTY...I can believe we even played in those things :crowded:

Another funny thing....the outfit I have on here in the same one I wore my first time in Disney....maybe it was my favorite :lmao:
Ok guys....sorry for the :offtopic: Opryland talk.....a Disney update is coming SOON!!!!! :rolleyes1....just SO many good memories

You Tennessee gals are taking me waaaay back in time with the Opryland talk, and especially the pictures. The Old Mill Scream was brave livin' back in the day of hightop Reeboks! Grizzly River Rampage was so much fun, too.
I did NOT spit on the floor of Opry Mills. I had a hundred third graders and assorted chaperones with me. I didn't want to be the headline on the evening news : "Metro Teacher Arrested for Defacing Property" or some such thing! I enjoy Opry Mills - it's better than Rivergate - but I do wish it hadn't taken over the entire Opryland park. It would have been nice to be able to have salvaged some of Opryland and we could have had a few rides and a smaller mall.
By the way, just in case anyone wants to know what MeMom will be doing one week from right now (and I just know you are all wondering that), I'll be in Magic Kingdom!!! Okay, there'll be fifty-seven thousand other people there with me, but it'll be okay. We're mostly going on this trip to watch the CP, see all the Christmas stuff in World Showcase, and do some resort hopping, and other than that, whatever we get to do is a bonus.

OK....I kept my promise and now on with day TWO :flower3: ....Resorts, Epcot and my FAVORITE meal of the trip!!!
We slept in some and didn't have an ADR until 6:10 so we hung out at the resort for awhile this morning and then drove to the Beach Club.....enjoyed their decorations for awhile and then went to find the international gateway!!
I actually have never been in or out of Epcot through the IG....I will definitely use it again.....we actually drove more on this trip than I ever have....and it was great driving to an Epcot resort and just walking there....I didn't realize how short of a walk it is.
Here's some pics of the gingerbread carousel at the Beach Club
It was BEAUTIFUL.....I can't believe it's made of things you can EAT!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/DIsney%2012-9/P1020666.jpg
We walked around the UK and Canada pavilions and made our way to Soarin'.....we got fast passes....went to Journey of Imagination (which was hubby's FAVORITE :lmao: ) and the Seas to try and find the dolphins that I would go see in a few days....more on that later
Soarin' was wonderful.....it was a very easy, smooth, FUN ride and I LOVE flying so it was a great sensation for me.....but the way they pipe in the smells to go with what you are seeing is awesome!
Here's a pic of hubby's most favorite area...HA:rotfl:HA....actually we just thought it was cool b/c it was a backwards fountain, and I happened to catch the monorail....very cool!

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/DIsney%2012-9/P1020677.jpg
we only saw one more of the story tellers....but this guy was very good....he was really funny and included most all of the kids....very entertaining to listen to
It's time...........Yummmmmmmmmm
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/DIsney%2012-9/P1020681.jpg
This dinner was SO good!!!!! I ordered the mussels, Mushroom Filet, and the Cream Brulee.....it was ALL WONDERFUL!! Hubby got the Cheddar Soup, a MASSIVE NY Strip, and we ordered a chocolate moose to go.....He's SO cute!! I had to take this pic b/c of his cuteness and a friend of mine that is from Canada I told hubby I had to send it to her
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/DIsney%2012-9/P1020682.jpg
We were so miserable when we left there we just went to the front of the park and walked around.....http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/DIsney%2012-9/P1020685.jpg

After all the traveling of Epcot I was pretty tired.....
BTW the only crazy thing that happened to me on the trip was my knee was KILLING me, I guess from trudging around AK and MK all day before....it hurt me pretty bad for about 3-4 days and finally quit....thank goodness
But we were exhausted when we got back to the room and we prob. felt like my Moose I carried around all night :sad2:

I'm caught up, and I LOVE the pics & memories of Opryland! My df's family is from Joelton/Ashland City area, so we summered there a LOT when I was a kid, and I LOVED Opryland! Especially loved the Little Deuce Coupe...we made my cousin SO SICK spinning him around on that one...
We were in WDW from the 8th-14th, as well, but as we were with the kids, all our meals were character/themed, I am loving hearing about the restaurants I didn't make it to, gives me ammo for planning another trip!:rotfl:

You're pic from the BC is beautiful! We will have some extra time on our trip in March so I'm hoping to do a little resort hopping myself.
sorry about your moose! The same thing happened to us with dessert we tried to take back to the resort. It was so unrecognizeable by the time we got back it didn't look appetizing anymore and it went the way of your moose!
Loving your pics and report! Keep 'em coming!!

I'm here! Thanks for letting me know you were doing this. I've been so busy, its hard enough keeping up with the rest of the threads I'm subscribed to, let alone search the boards for more! But I made it, and I'm all caught up.:thumbsup2
You're really moving right along here. You got some really great pictures! I love those pictures of the castle. I wish I could see it all lit up like that. Very pretty! And the gorilla...:lmao: . I've always wanted to try Le Cellier, too. Too bad about your mousse. Looks like you either had a really great spot for Illuminations, or you have a really great zoom on that camera. Those pictures are wonderful!

We watched illuminations from the steps right by the stort in Canada....it was a good place....I think we prob could have found better but didn't want to walk much past the IG....so we just took a seat....at least we were able to sit the whole time...that was nice

That's what Drew wants for Christmas so badly - a Panasonic. We looked at one on sale for $700. SALE for $700??? What happened to the days when we were satisfied with those $6 disposable deals? I can't get it for him right now, not at that price, but if he sells the old one and puts that money toward one and adds some of his own money, then maybe he can get it. $700 isn't a lot when you're talking about something important (like a Disney trip), but it starts sounding like a lot when it's for one itty bitty camera. He is all about cameras, though, and truth is he's probably like to have one that costs twice that that is capable of doing all kind of awesome effects. Oh well, Santa isn't going to be able fit that in his budget...er, uh, sack...this time around.
Spectro is a good parade to watch, but it wreaks havoc with picture taking. It's not so easy to get non-blurry pictures, but I still keep trying.

$700 sheesh!!!! Which one is it??? Just curious b/c I might want it too if it's THAT good :rotfl: ......This camera you can get for $250...it is the pansonic DMZ-FC8.....and the newest version they have out of it now is $350....my dad is wanting the newest one....so we may work out something....but of course now I want the new one too :rotfl2: .....this camera has a 12x zoom....and the newest one has a 18x....crazy
I am going to sell my little cannon that I have sometime soon....and get a new camera....of course it seems the smaller the better but I didn't really mind carring this camera....it's bigger but it doesn't even weigh a pound  ....we'll see....BUT, as long as dad lets me borrow his
MeMom I hope you guys have a GREAT trip and a very Merry Christmas!!!!
Guys I'll get an update soon....working on uploading my photopass pics right now....it's a little time consuming :scared: ....I'll be up and running again soon :upsidedow

I just got the Panasonic DMCTZ3 a couple of months ago and I LOVE it!! I haven't used all the features yet, but it has a 3" screen which is fabulous. the zoom is 10x optical and 4x digital which brings it to a total of 40x zoom. Fabulous!!! I am shooting everything in sight in preparation for our Magic cruise in March. I highly recommend Panasonic.

i remember that guy!!!! i can't believe opryland is no more....now it's a stupid mall!
I have said that same thing so many times! It makes me sad to pull into Opry Mills and see the rock that used to be part of the Grizzly River Rampage.

you're pics are beautiful! I'm still very jealous that I didn't get that gorgeous castle last December!
We have always managed with the full size bed, although we have a full size at home so that's probably why we aren't bothered by it at WDW. Yes we want to upgrade but we are planning to move next year and don't want to ruin a brand new bed (hopefully a sleep number bed!) in the move!
Is it just me or do Minnie and Goofy appear to be blinking in that first picture of the "Dreams" show?? Do they have the capability of blinking now or did the pictures just come out that way???

He had his orange ut shirt on the 2nd day which would have been the 9th....he had a black ut shirt on later on the 13th.....we were at MK both evenings but not the Christmas party
Oh well maybe you can find the pic
That's neat though :goodvibes....and I still LOVE my Cinderella princess:
No, I am thinking he was wearing the orange shirt, so maybe the 9th, we were at MK all day that day, so its possible that was it...

you're pics are beautiful!
Hey Simba....sorry I missed your post somehow :confused3
Well....never say never....but I don't plan to ever do a week long trip like that without at least a Queen size bed....we slept in a queen forever but haven't really been in anything smaller....we both just laughed when we saw those beds
And yes....the character heads are animated now....not all of them.....but they have done that....I think I read it on TGM....can't remember....pretty cool though huh....

After staring at it for awhile
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-10/P1020812.jpg
I met back up with the hubby and we did some fantasyland things and then rode the TeaCups
I had told Matt I wanted him to spin it as fast as I could, and that the last time I remember having so much fun on that type of ride (it was the Little Duce Coupe  ) was when I was with some people in 8th grade, and that it was incredible!!!
Well....
he spun....
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-10/P1020814.jpg
and spun
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-10/P1020815.jpg
and spun some more
I was laughing so hard I couldn't even tell him to stop.....and
FINALLY the ride stopped!!!
NO I didn't throw-up :lmao: ....but I think I might have felt better if I did....good grief I hadn't had that sick of a feeling in my stomach :headache: in forever....and seriously...it makes me sick feeling just thinking about it :rotfl2:
I guess I'm just not young any more...but I do think with all that spinning I prob could have taken the intense side of Mission Space for sure!!
Once my stomach calmed down we went and had a snack in Tomorrowland....I think this is where I got my YUMMY spicy cheese pretzel.....now I know after thinking about losing what is in your stomach how could you eat this....but it was GOOD!!!! If you ever get the chance to try one DO IT!!! They are great!!!
We found a spot where I could see the top of the castle
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-10/P1020819.jpg
And while hanging out wishes started....here is the only decent pic from that batch....
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-10/P1020841.jpg
At this point it was about 9:30....we had MK EMH's to look forward to and Matt was ready to GO....maybe the teacups didn't do to well for him either....but anyway....I wasn't very happy b/c he wanted to leave, and he wasn't very happy b/c I wasn't very happy :rotfl: , but needless to say we got back on the monorail....
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-10/P1020844.jpg
and if you can tell....we got to be Pilots!!!
So that definitely ended the night on a good note pixiedust: ....I should always tell myself....Disney is good....Disney is good :goodvibes
My camera didn't take very good pics from inside the monorail and going however fast we were going but here's a few....

Hey Erica! Sorry I haven't visited your thread for a while. I'm playing catch up today. I enjoyed the Opryland nostalgic pics (you were such an adorable little girl). I only visited Opryland once when I was about 6 or 7. My first ride on a "big" coaster (as opposed to a kiddie coaster) was on the Timber Topper. We usually went to Six Flags Over Georgia since it's closer to Birmingham (and has more coasters and other thrill rides), but not long before Opryland closed I entertained thoughts of going there and was disappointed when I heard it was going to be shut down. It's hard to believe that happened 10 years ago.
Loved the gingergread carousel and moose pics. :thumbsup2
The Dream Along With Mickey show looks like it was sponsored by the University of Kentucky with everything decked out in royal blue. :lmao: :rotfl2:
That was a cool series of pics showing the lighting of the castle. :thumbsup2
LOL at the fast spinning on the tea cups. I did the same thing with my son, Austin. :rotfl:

Hi fellow Tenneessean! I just found your trippie today!! I have to go back and read everything now since I'm only through day 1. I recognized your name from my trip report and your dog pics of course!! Love what I've read so far and your pictures are gorgeous!!! I for one love details. We were in Nashville last weekend for the Jets/ Titans game as DH is a big jets fan :rolleyes1 . Opryland at Christmas is just gorgeous, we have gone there the last 2 years to see the Christmas decorations. We also saw Devine at Opryland Hotel.
My DH loved your Castle pics with it all lit up for Christmas!! Remember he doesn't love Disney like the rest of us. After seeing your pics you said maybe we should go in November or December :) . SO thank you for posting those :worship: pics!!
How did you like POFQ? I'm thinking of booking there for November :goodvibes .

oh, and by the way, i don't know whether you ended up doing the intense version of mission space or not, but it's nothing like the teacups. you can't tell you're spinning....you just feel this really wierd sensation....like you can't move your body and your face is gonna go into the back of your head. it's very cool if you like that sorta thing! we never got dizzy...we were just a little wobbly when we got off. but i took dramamine before i got on it just in case.

Great trip report with beautiful pictures. :goodvibes
I'm going back next December to see all the decorations at the parks and at the resorts. :) What was your foavorite resort? I was in WDW the first week of November this year but all I got to see of the Christmas decorations was Epcot's tree.
Do they have a list in Epcot of what times the Santas are in each country?
Keep up the good work, I'm waiting for more. :)

Okay, I just flipped out when I pulled up your TR and the first picture I see is of punkin's man...and I wasn't quick enough (jet lag and lack of sleep even more then usual after having just gotten back last night) to put it all together, so I'm saying to myself, "What is VandyFan doing with punkin's man???"
Then, after I scrolled down to the next picture, I realized it was a reply post, so I'm unflipping out now!
Anyway, all the young people are gone for the evening - Drew and his girlfriend and buddies are all out, Trent, and Kristi are out eating supper with her dad and then heading out with friends, and Jill, John, and Brooklynn are on the road back home. I am content at home, away from the chaos. We went earlier to see a cousin's new baby and stayed there for a while, and that's all the excitement I need for the evening.
I'm going to catch up with a few trip reports and hit the sack. Chances are great that I'll be sleeping right through the dropping of the ball and all the hoopla. Everyone have a safe and happy evening!

Hey Erica! Great update!
I HATE the teacups! And any similar ride in any amusement park! I can do Mission Space with NO problem...I think it's not so much the spinning that bothers me, but the VISUAL you get while spinning...you know, everything behind you blurring and the people across from you laughing so hard that you feel you've been warped into one of those TV nightmares where people's heads are just floating around you laughing uncontrollably at your humiliation and ultimate demise....
When we went in October, my brother and my boyfriend (stupid boys!) wanted to ride the teacups. I wanted to get in line to meet Rabbit. The boys won. I lost. I was feeling sick for the rest of the day. From now on: Characters = Good. Teacups = Bad.

OK....so now we are on to Tuesday Morning 12-11-07
Matt was going bright and early to play golf and I was going to swim with the Dolphins
He played at Lake Buena Vista which is really close to POFQ so he just drove there.....and I think he was the first one being his tee time was 7:05 I think
I think he had a wonderful time playing.....he got paired with a guy that was staying at one of the All-star resorts and was also a lefty, and from what I hear in the golf world that can be really odd to have more than one lefty in your group :confused3 ....and he is definitely not a PGA player....but I think he was very happy with what he shot....and only lost a few balls in ALL that water!!!!
Here's several pics he took:

This is Kyper and he was very sweet....the tour was very exciting....it's about a 3 1/2 hr tour and you only spend about 45mins in the water, but the CM's that were the guides were GREAT!! And it's always neat seeing 'beind the scenes' at WDW!
There are no more pics because we weren't allowed to bring camera's or anything really except ourselves, but if you've never had interaction with dolphins, and love them as much as I do.....definitely consider doing this tour....but book early....they only do it M-F once a day and only 8 people are on the tour.....so unlike the dolphins at Sea world/discovery cove that might be over-stimulated.....these dolphins I think really  LOVE  the attention they get, b/c they are such loveable creatures anyway.
Feel free to ask me questions.....I will remember things along the way and will post....but for now I'm off to bed....it's almost midnight :scared1: .....you would think staying up til midnight last night would have been enough
Hope everyone had a happy and safe new year!!!

the golf course looks really pretty. I remember staying at OKW and waking up and going out on the balcony and having the golf course as my view.
The dolphin pic is great. I would love to swim with the dolphins.
I did have a happy and safe. Thank you.

Thanks for the intro Dawn...now that I think about it I recall seeing Erica (with the pink writing!!) on your TR! :rotfl:
But I don't know about a "heart of gold!" This pregnancy brings out the sailor mouth in me...esp. when I am driving!!

Cool :)....do you think Ray will be coming with you?
i'm not sure yet but i don't think so. see, i was gonna come up there for the weekend of MLK day. but then i remembered that "clover field" comes out on 1.18.08 and ray's been DYING to see that. he's not much into movies so when he wants to see something in the theater it's a big deal. i promised i'd go with him. so i'm thinking what i'll do is leave saturday night (1.19) and come back here tuesday. if that's what happens then he can't go because he has to work on tuesday. but brooke (my sister) asked me if i wouldn't mind letting jon (her boyfriend who lives in marietta) ride with me if i come up there. so i'll have company in the car at least! i'll let you know for sure when i know. i've gotta go by the office and check out the calendar for that tuesday to see if we're busy or not.
Now....I headed off to Epcot for my Dolphins in Depth tour.....it was AWESOME!!!
i'm so going to look up more info on this RIGHT NOW! if it's not too expensive it may be something i'll want to do on one of the mornings that i'm letting ray sleep in. i LOVE dolphins.....have since i was a kid!

As for the tour I hope you can do it....it was great....your AP might give you discounts on tours....but if not....get you a visa (which you need anyway!!) and you'll get 20% off :woohoo:

It was fun!!
Well, we learned a little about the aquarium :fish: and how it works.....did you know you could putt SpaceShip Earth over into that thing and STILL have room....seemed wild to me....also ALL of that water is filtered in about 2 1/2 hrs....so it had already done one full filtering job and started on another before we left from our tour.
We went up and learned about Dolphins....their fun loving, playful personalities, and the correct terminology of their body parts....don't quiz me please :rotfl: ....we did this at the top of the aquarium where you can tell the trainers are....very cool!!
We got to go in to watch some of the dolphin show and sit in the very front....they had 3 shapes on the glass....and there was a trainer at the top showing him a shape and he had to go find it....if he did he got a reward.....there was a funky shape, a frog, and an 'R'.....I think it was Kyper (whom I had my pic with) that did the show....and he really liked the frog :bounce: ....it was hilarious!!
We went back up and got changed.....got to walk back through the aquarium, in our wet suits, maybe someone has some pics of that :lmao: ....and up to go PLAY!!!
Went back to take showers and get dressed.....got a t-shirt and our pic....chit-chatted about the morning and went on our merry ways....it was great....I would recommend anyone to do it if they could
I'll prob think of more later.....I'll let you know :goodvibes

hi, tara! let me introduce you to my friend, erica (vandyfan10). she's from nashville and we bonded over being vandy fans. i met her when i was at home for thanksgiving and she's awesome....i can't wait to hang out with her again!
erica, let me introduce you to my friend, tara (eventer). tara is one of the girls in my all-girl trip from back in september that you were so jealous of! she's soooooooo sweet and she has a heart of gold!
it's so nice to say i've actually met you both in real life!!!!!!!
Didn't you guys first meet on our trip report? We were all on the same wavelength talking about Nashville and Vandy and the high schools around here, if I recall. Isn't there some kind of friendship fee involved for me?!?!? I think one Disney Dollar would be a nice reward. You could split the cost, and I'd be able to buy a third of a fruit bowl on our March trip with your contribution.
You know I'll take a picture of it, too, and post it on the report.
I think it's very nice that you guys were able to meet in person. Last summer at Pop, we met some Disers, too, and it was nice to meet people in person that have this same "Dis"ease that we do and know that they are still perfectly normal in real life!
It was good to hear about the aquarium part. That's something kind of different that we don't hear or see reported about often.

We went back to get ready to go resort hopping and for our dinner at Narcoosee's :goodvibes
We drove to the Poly...b/c I'm to cheap to pay to valet and it's easier to get on the Monorail than to walk across the street to get to the GF ...
The tree at the GF is breathtaking....
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-11/P1020863.jpg
We walked around the resort a little and went towards Narcoosee's to find a place to watch wishes....I took some pics from the boat dock and then we went and sat on the deck at Narcoosees....

Dinner was great....Matt got the shrimp for appy and I had a endive and pear salad which was good but wasn't what I expected....it was all endive with pears and blue cheese...I think I would have enjoyed it much more if it had some romaine or greens b/c the endive is a little bitter...but I had a glass of resling that was wonderful with it and the steak and lobster we both ordered was great....but to be honest I'm glad I didn't become a lobster lover...that crap is expensive  ....for dessert I got the warm choc. almond gateau....it was VERY rich and it had vanilla bean whipped cream not ice cream (I didn't read well :lmao: ).....Matt got a apple tart thing which wasn't much of anything really.....and I think this is when we had our discussion about the new changes to the DDP
Overal it was a great dinner...but neither of us thought it was worth the $200price ticket we got at the end...but then again we wouldn't have experienced it without the DDP either...and I would definitely go again if I had the plan...just don't think I'd pay out of pocket...but I did have a wonderful view at the dinner table :goodvibes

this is gonna be our one splurge dinner in april. we LOVE narcoosee's! but we got different things than you guys did (other than your entrees). we got the calamari and crab cakes for appetizers....both were good but the crab cakes were EXCELLENT. then of course our entrees were the same as you guys. ray thought the steak was the best he'd ever had and i thought the potatoes were sooooooo good! then for dessert we got key lime creme brulee and almond crusted cheesecake......NO WORDS.....:cloud9: ray told me that was the one place he wanted to go back to so we're going again and paying OOP! of course we'll get 20% off from the DDE card so it's not all bad!
and that view is great! we had a window seat, too.....so pretty!

i really wanna stay here when (and if) we go back to disney for christmas next year. i think ray would absolutely love that resort. i'm just not sure we can afford it. it would be SOOOOOOOOO much cheaper to rent a vacation home because we'd be going with anna and chris and could split the cost with them....only something like $130 a night to do that and that's before splitting it! but i will definitely stop by WL at christmastime. we'll go by there in april if we have a chance, too! maybe seeing it will make ray really wanna stay there next time and get a second job so we could afford it! i'm TOTALLY kidding!
ETA: by the way, i keep saying, "christmas next year" when it's really christmas this year....2008! it's late and i gotta go to bed!

this is gonna be our one splurge dinner in april. we LOVE narcoosee's! but we got different things than you guys did (other than your entrees). we got the calamari and crab cakes for appetizers....both were good but the crab cakes were EXCELLENT. then of course our entrees were the same as you guys. ray thought the steak was the best he'd ever had and i thought the potatoes were sooooooo good! then for dessert we got key lime creme brulee and almond crusted cheesecake......NO WORDS.....:cloud9: ray told me that was the one place he wanted to go back to so we're going again and paying OOP! of course we'll get 20% off from the DDE card so it's not all bad!
and that view is great! we had a window seat, too.....so pretty!
I really did enjoy it....but I did think my steak at LeCellier was better  .....but I think I made a better appy(definitely w/the mussels :cloud9: and pretzel bread) and dessert choice
I remember you guys loved that sauce on the steak....and it was yummy....but I think I was a little more focused on my lobster since I had never really had it before :rotfl:
I wish Matt had gotten the almond crusted cheesecake....but he stays away from all things with 'nuts' listed in them....he's so picky...but I think he would have loved it....and the way it looks he could flick the almonds off
It was good I just remember thinking OMG....that would have cost $200 buckos.....I'm so cheap :lmao:
the pics look great. sorry it was sold out but it is another excuse to go back.
MOST DEFINITELY!!!! I will definitely BEG for another Christmas trip :santa:

It is beautiful and worth every penny...but I understand the $$$ thing....that's why we didn't stay there this last time....it's much less than the other deluxe resorts I guess b/c it's off the monorail
I was wondering a/b the this year/next year thing....and your hubby will really let you go again in Sept???? :upsidedow That will be THREE trips for you missy!!! And also....if we do go I wouldn' be opposed to staying off-site (depending on the dining I guess)....but whatever works out $$$ wise to stay the LONGEST ;) ....but with your AP we would have free parking right???

The lobbies everywhere were just beautiful at Christmas. The trees were huge and themed so nicely. I limited myself to a few pictures of each, but I could have taken many pictures of just trees, wreaths, and other decorations. We got to see decorations at GF, Poly, AKL, WL, Ft. Wilderness, POFQ, POR, Pop, ASMu, ASMo, ASSp, CSR...I think that's all the ones we saw, except for the outside tree at Contemporary as we rode by. I just loved the theming at every place. I did get sort of tired of the Christmas music toward the end of the trip, and I was ready to hear Disney music again, but I think everyone ought to go and experience Disney at Christmas at least once in their lives.
That basetball court looks very familiar. Trent went to several summer camps there, and we used to go to games, but haven't in a while. I'm glad they're doing so well. I was a pretty decent fan back in my younger days, but I just spend so much time on work and life stuff these days that I don't take the time to watch them. Trent just mentioned yesterday how well they were doing, so I guess he's keeping up with them. He grew up playing under the guidance of many ex-Commodores - Steve Reece, Will Perdue, Sam Howard, Drew Maddux, and others.
Someone earlier mentioned "back to school". Unfortunately, that's for me, too. Teachers go back today for meetings, and kids come tomorrow. I want a do-over!!! I want to go back to the part where we were walking by the pool at All-Star Music and there were kids and parents playing together in the water and "The Santa Clause" was playing on a huge screen. That was the start of a great trip! Oh well, I guess I just have to keep in mind that I must go to work in order to be able to pay to go back, right?

i have no idea what will happen as far as our christmas trip. it's just an idea i'm playing with. anna really wants to go then and me and ray have talked about it before.....it just depends on our money situation. as far as august/september goes, if it wasn't for me having an AP it would totally not be doable. the only thing is that i don't want to miss a whole lot of work. because i'm self-employed i don't get vacation time. in other words, if i don't work, i don't get paid. so i'm hoping we can work it out where we can go over a weekend and then add a couple of days around that. is 4 days enough or do you wanna do 5? LISTEN TO ME!!!!!! i'm acting like we've already gotten reservations! :lmao: sorry bout that. i just get a little ahead of myself.
if we don't get free dining i'm totally okay with staying off site too....UNLESS they offer some killer AP rates during that time. if we stay at a value which one do you prefer? we stayed at pop last year and it was nice. i'm kinda curious about all star music though. thoughts?
sorry to hijack your thread with future hypothetical trip plans!

Yay...I'm all caught up! Thanks for the Christmas pics at the different resorts! The last few years we made a point to visit a lot of the different resorts to see the wonderful decorations. This year, we didn't. So, it was nice to see them through your pics! :goodvibes Wilderness Lodge is definitely tops on our list of resorts! We stayed there once (unfortunately not during X-mas with all the decorations) and loved it!!! Looking forward to your next post...

Ok boys and girls.....today we are writing in gold for my 'Dores pirate: ....here's to them playing well today!!!!
Today we went to Epcot.....we and got FP's for the popular Soarin' and then headed to the other side
We did Test Track

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-12/P1030014.jpg
And then to Mission Space....
I sent Matt in to do the Orange Version and get his opinion.....I don't know why I chickened out...but I just did NOT want to do this ride....I guess I read to many negative things about it....but I'm usually never scared and want to try EVERYTHING!! But it was a good break....I had fun snapping some more pics and chatting with a Daddy and his 3 year old, and the Dad worked at MK which was pretty cool
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-12/P1030024.jpg

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-12/P1030022.jpg
I waited for Matt to come out and then went in to do the Green version....it's a pretty cool ride and I'm glad I got to see how it looked inside....I was the engineer, along with 3 other very cute kids....the little boy kept telling me who I was going to be and what my job was :lmao: ...I loved it
I can see where the orange version would be pretty intense....the green wasn't bad AT ALL....I think everyone should ride at least that, but just the small amount of G-force you get from that I can't imagine how the intense version would be
We had late lunch ressie's at the Coral Reef for the 5p Candlelight....so we headed back over to do Soarin' and then wandered around in the seas....it was very fun to go back there the day after my tour....and the dolphins were out too :yay:
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-12/P1030038.jpg
First we did the nemo ride....it was cheesy but very cute
these pics didn't turn out well....but I thought the 3 windows at the end with the characters over the 'sea' wall were AWESOME!!
The jellyfish were the only ones that actually worked...
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-12/P1030027.jpg
I had to take some pics of my friends from yesterday

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-12/P1030032.jpg
I could have sat there and watched those guys ALL day....but there were things to do and hubby was getting antsy :rotfl:
So we headed to Turtle Talk....I LOVED this!!!!
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-12/P1030029.jpg
I would have done this several times if we had the chance, b/c I'm sure it's a little different every time with the kiddos
We went and checked in at least 45mins early for lunch and they told me it would prob be at least that long before we were seated but we decided to wait anyway.....I bet it was 10mins and they called our name :thumbsup2
We really enjoyed this dinner...and our waiter was prob one of the best :goodvibes
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-12/P1030043.jpg
http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-12/P1030044.jpg
Here's why it's a good idea to take pics of your food....I'm struggling to remember what we had for appy's....but I think both of us got the sea and land....it was good but I do remember thinking I wish I had gotten the Lobster Bisque b/c I've heard it's dreamy!! Matt got the NY Strip and enjoyed...and I changed up my entree....I wanted the Mahi but I wanted the pepper jack cheese grits.....both were YUMMY but I don't think they are really supposed to be mixed together.....the waiter offered me to get the Mahi blackened (but I'm always a little worried about it being to spicy) and that's prob the road I should have gone....but I got exactly what I wanted and it was yummy....I promise I'm not complaining :upsidedow For dessert Matt got the Bailey's and Jack Daniels Mousse which I assume he liked b/c it was the most he had eaten of ANY dessert....he did everything but lick the cup and I ordered, from many recommendations, the Chocolate Wave....it was very good and the brandy soaked cherries were VERY  strong so beware!!! It was a great place to eat and I would definitely go back :thumbsup2
Next post.....wandering the world showcase before the CP

When I rode MS for the first time, I was sick for about 1 1/2 hours after that. I swore I'd never ride it again....but I did. Now when you know what to expect it's not so bad. I'm just slightly disoriented for about a minute or two after the ride and then I'm fine.....It's a hoot...
Coral Reef looks wonderful...we axed our ADRs there...and now we wish we hadn't. Oh well...live and learn.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m34/vandyfan10/Disney%2012-12/P1030045.jpg
I didn't get to see the whole show but they are great.....that was one thing on my list to do but we couldn't seem to make the times....but at least I got to hear at least half of a set
We walked quickly through the UK....with Matt you walk 'quickly' through EVERYTHING!! He can see half of it and move on....is that just a man thing??? I didn't take any pics which I hate b/c the buildings there are so cute....but I guess I was being 'pressured' to MOVE on that I didn't get the camera back out
Then we made our way to France....and we got to see Pierre Noel....he was pretty....and France was very nice too...I don't :confused3 know why in all my previous trips everything seemed to be on the Mexico side and we never made it to France, UK or Canada.....they are all really cool....and I plan on spending a lot more time in the WS next time I go!!

Glad to know it got better....I still think I might be ok just sticking with the 'green' side knowing what the ride is like and I'm good :)
Coral Reef was good but I know you have WONDERFUL places on your list!!

I hear the screaming for sure now! Sorry, VandyFan.
They got off to a bad start. It was a good comeback, but just not enough right at the end. I had it on as I was working around the house. I saw a missed FT in the last seconds of the first OT. Gotta have all of those in the crucial moments.
I hope the rest of your day is better.

You just need to go to some games with me at Memorial....you will love it. I know you've been there before....you've just forgotten how good it can be ;)
And I think we'll have a lot of games like this one this year  ...I better take my meds :rotfl:

I think this wouldn't be so bad if we hadn't played so poorly and the fact that UK is just not that good this year....not a good loss....and we definitely shouldn't win on Thurs at K-ville  ....oh well....life is still good at 16-1.....we just need to continue to win the ones we should
The rest of my day will be good as long as my Packers don't lose....I about to continue my couch-potoato day.......It's snowing in Green Bay and I wish I were there :cheer2: I need to go change into my Favre jersey :yay: ....and it's already not good....7-0 Seattle :sad2:

Glad you decided to do the green version of MS. Trust me, you're not missing anything exciting in the orange version. I'm a thrill rider and I HATED it. It feels like your chest is being sucked into your back and you can't breathe. No wonder people have had heart attacks on that thing.
My hubby is another one who zips through world showcase like there's nothing to see. I swear I haven't really gotten to do anything over there, and its cause he's bored. You're right, it must be a man thing.
Those pics of the Osbourne lights are awesome. I would love to see them in person. Wonder what Disney's electric bill is like...:confused3

MorgTroy - it is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8K 7.2MP with a 12X zoom...it is a great camera :upsidedow .....and it is my dad's :sad2: .....they have it on Amazon for about $250...there is an newer version out with a 18X zoom that I would LOVE  to have.....I'm sure you could take even better pic's with it if you REALLY knew how to work it....it was my first time taking night shots with it and I had to try out several things and don't even know if I had the best settings really.....but I'm plotting on how to steal it from my dad

Everybody should try the holidays at Disney at least once. I loved the fall decorations at Halloween and all of the cute window displays and beautiful Christmas trees in December. It made the atmosphere so different than our usual summer trips.
However, the next holiday I'm excited about is....St. Patrick's Day! Now, understand, I don't care one way or the other about it as a holiday, but it just so happens to be our spring break, so I'll be back in Disney World! So, I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to this St. Patrick's Day more than any other I've ever known.
Are you already booked to go back for Christmas? Our annual passes run out in July, so after that, we might have a long dry spell of not getting to go. I told Jill I could only make it not going for a whole 'nuther year if she'd give me another grandbaby during that year, so we'll see. She and John and Brooklynn are going back in October, and after that, I'm hoping to hear that I'll be a MeMom again!

Hey Erica! I'm finally caught up. I'm usually not scared to ride anything, but I was very apprehensive about riding the orange side of Mission Space because of the bad press it has gotten. But I rode it not once but twice and LOVED it (my 6-year-old son loved it too...he's the one who insisted that we ride a second time)! Yes, it is quite intense, but it's so realistic. You really feel like a real astronaut.
Loved the pics of Coral Reef. I'm not sure if I've seen any pics of it before. I'll have to eat there on a future visit to WDW.

I know the feeling, I remember when my town had mini golf and an actual mall. Now we don't have that, the bowling alley is run down, and the mall well you can walk it in under five minutes. I love Nashville and I do wish they Opry was still at the Ryman and not the Grand Old Opry house. There's just that nostalgia about the Ryman.

I've seen the Opry there once and saw Kelly Clarkson there too.
Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum in the white, Chuck Wicks is the one I'm hugging and then Dave Haywood from Lady Antebellum.
All caught up again. You have some of the best pictures on here.:thumbsup2 You and your DH look so happy together. All I could do was smile as I was catching up. Good Vibes. Thanks for warming me up on a cold winter day.

we visited Nashville for the first time in November and had a blast. We stayed at the Gaylord Opryland hotel and saw the Rockettes in the new theatre. Because they were there, we got to see the Grand Ol' Opry in the Ryman. It was a wonderful show. Wonderful venue. Glad we got a chance to see it there.

I just found this thread and love your pictures! Thanks also for the memories of Opryland.
We only went once, but I remember that trip as so much fun. My husband asked us (our kids about 5 and 8 at the time) if we wanted to go with him on a business trip to Nashville. So we drove down, not having any idea what to expect (at least I didn't), and pulled up in front of the Opryland Hotel dressed in our grubbies, the car full of a couple of days worth of traveling - stuffed animals, pillows, fast food wrappers, Pepsi cans....
It turned out to be an ultra-fancy conference, with security everywhere, and people dressed to the nines. One embarrassing check-in! But they gave us free tickets to Opryland, and that's where the girls and I spent the rest of the day...so much fun! I'd pictured just walking around downtown Nashville trying to entertain the kids while my husband was in meetings, and instead it was a free day at a place just as much fun as Disney! That night we went to the Grand Old Opry, and another night to Andrew Jackson's birthplace(?), and final night to a Barbara Mandrell concert. Tennessee just rolled out the red carpet. That trip is still one of my favorite memories!

Glad you got to see the Opry at the Ryman....they do that from time to time I need to try and catch it there sometime.....I think I've only been to the opry twice....but I did get to go backstage once and that was a BLAST!!! Terri Clark was the headliner that night :mic: .....I still have yet to see the Rockettes....have to do that one too!!

:welcome: I'm GLAD to hear you had such a good trip here....I'm a TN girl through and through, and I definitely don't know any different :goodvibes
I know how I travel :drive: and I would wind up at a place like the Opryland Hotel not knowing what to expect and being very underdressed too :headache:
Opryland was a wonderful place and I'm glad you guys got to experience it....there were rumors that Disney was to buy that park....I don't know if it was true or just a fluke but man I WISH that would have happened....I definitely miss that place....they used to do a pretty good job at Christmas too....would decorate the park really well and you could buy tickets (or your season pass would work) and just go walk around....no rides were open, it really was only a summer park, but usually was a little cold to ride anyway....but it was just fun. They did a GREAT job at Halloween also....the park was still open on weekends then and they would have several haunted houses and things.....but I can't imagne what kind of place it would have been had someone like Disney had the park, and actually put $$$ INTO it!!
It was a great place....and as you can tell I'm still a little peeved about it :sad2:
Sounds like you guys did a good job of traveling around Nashvegas in your trip.....Andrew Jackson's place is the Hermitage....that is about 5-10 mins from my house :upsidedow
Glad we could give you a good time!!!

That's why someone just has to bring it on the weekends....I actually have to drive a little ways to work now.....before I had about a 4mile drive....but I'm not looking forward to the 'surprise' dump we usually get....last time people were on the roads in Nashville for 6+ hours....CRAZY!!
But I'll take it whenever....I just want some SNOW!!!!!

The place with the bats and tigers, I dread going back into that place. The first year we went, I pulled out a map and freaked out when there was a frog on it. It was quite comical but scared the crap out of me.

You got some wonderful pictures. Sort of have a 'hiney' theme going there, do you?
I just got in from school, and one of the Disney specials is on Travel Channel right now, and it's the Animal Kingdom one. I'm watching it on Trent's humongous TV, so the animals are all massive. I'm quite enjoying it! :)

Anyway, I'm caught up now. I enjoyed the latest updates (lots of great pics). Your PhotoPass pics are great! I'm also glad to see that you like the tigers more than the elephants (tigers are my favorite animals too, but elephants are my least favorite...you know why...LOL).

Way to go for the black and gold! To beat Tennessee is always a pleasure. To beat them when they just touched #1 is HISTORY!
Although I will give Bruce Pearl his 'props', because he has at least tried to get a handle on that horrible attitude that TN players are noted for. They used to be absolute thugs running wild, and I think he's put a little discipline in the program.

Absolutely!! Pearl has done a great job there....he was baptized well right out of the gate having to dump I think 2 or 3 players immediately. And a few along the way but I think he's done a great job with those guys
Jerry Green was just worthless....he had prob the best group of players/athletes when Tony Harris was there and they did NOTHING.....it was always funny to me...My best memory of Tony Harris was him being 'hurt' on the sidelines for a couple of games in basically sweats (pretty tacky anyway I think)...but then sprinting to the other side of the court to get into something with the other team....I think it was UK they were playing....was down right funny :rotfl:
