We're getting ready for our first trip to FW! We've visited WDW several times and have our favorite resort spots to eat, but I was wondering if there were any nearby places to FW where you can run out and grab some food. Any good sandwich or pizza spots nearby? Thanks...

Well The Crossroads Centre has a number of places to eat

A list from Crossroads

Chevy's
TGI Fridays
Perkins
Pizzeria Uno
Taco Bell
McDonalds
Marble Slab Creamery for icecream after dinner
Buffalo Wild Wings (I think that was the name of it)

Down the road from Crossroads in order of closest to furthest

Burger king
The Black Angus
Olive Gardern
Shoney's
Sizzlers
Macaroni Grill
Joes (burgers)
some chinese food places
Papa John's Pizza (it is in the plaza that the Winn Dixie grocery store is in where the ABC liquor store is)

Every trip down we walk out to Crossroads from DTD and then down the road to whatever eatery we desire.

I'm not sure of the roads, but you head like you are going to downtown disney, and then just keep following that road out of disney, past the hotels on buena vista boulevard (the hilton, shut down holiday inn) and keep going until you hit I think 535.... there's a mcdonalds on one corner, a pizza uno on the other corner.

i'm awesome at directions. I'm surprised I wasn't recruited by the Military to be a navigator. :cool1:

I'm not sure of the roads,

You're not sure of the roads because you usually make your own.

Des1954 will give you the directions, but I highly recommend the AleHouse which is nearby!

All we do is take teh bus from teh resort to DTD and walk down hotel plaza boulevard and out to whatever place we wnt to go eat. We even walk to Winn Dixie to get groceries then cab it back to the hotel.

Thanks for all the great information. I looked at the map, and it does look like you just continue on the road that DTD is on and you end up at the shopping area and lost of restaurants.

Is this a kid-friendly place, or do I need to use the excuse that "Daddy has to go get an important part for the camper that might take a couple of hours to find"?

It's kind of a sports bar, well mostly a sports bar, but kid friendly.

But I naturally assumed that you wouldn't let obstacles impede your progress especially in the Gatormobile!

If you had a camper small enough to push by hand, you wouldn't have to worry about backing up :rotfl:

My DBro (NTSammy5) said I would post directions, and so I shall!

To get to:

Ale House -

Turn left out of Ft. Wilderness Parking lot on to Vista Blvd. Take Vista Blvd approx. 2 miles to CR-535 (a.k.a. Winter Garden-Vineland Rd). When you near CR-535 beware of the unmarked speed humps (3 in all) - they're kinda treacherous! Turn right & follow CR-535 for about 2 miles until you reach the intersection of CR-535 & SR-535. Make sure you are in the left hand turn lane when you reach this intersection as you will be making a U-Turn & then an immediate right into the joint parking lot for Ale House & 7-Eleven. To see information about the Ale House...

http://www.alehouseinc.com/

To get to Olive Garden; Ci-Ci's Pizza; Pizza Hut; Hooters; and other local restaurants -

Follow the above directions except for the U-Turn. Instead of a U-Turn, you will cross over SR-535 (road name becomes Palm Parkway). Olive Garden will be on your immediate right. Pizza Hut is on the left. Ci-Ci's & Hooters is about a block down in a plaza on the right.

To get to Winn Dixie -

Follow above directions, again except for U-Turn. Instead of U-Turn - get into the left turn lane & turn left on SR-535. Winn Dixie & ABC Liquors will be approx. 1 mile on right. Immediately on the left after you turn on to SR-535 you will find a Macaroni Grill, and Joe's Crab Shack. You can also get to either of these restaurants by turning into the Ale House parking lot and wending your way behind the buildings.

To get to Crossroad's Plaza (Mc Donald's; Chevy's; Perkins; Jungle Jim's; Uno's Pizza; Taco Bell; Red Lobster; TGI Friday's; Cold Slab Creamery & others)

Turn left on to Vista Blvd from FtW parking lot. Go approx 1.5 miles to Live Oak Lane (4 way stop) turn right. Go 2/10 mile to E Buena Vista Dr & turn right. Follow E Buena Vista Dr approx 1.7 miles to Hotel Plaza Blvd, turn left. (A right turn will take you to the parking lots at Downtown Disney). Follow Hotel Plaza Blvd approx 8/10 mile to SR-535, making sure you are in the correct lane to go straight ahead & not to turn on SR-535. Once you cross over SR-535, you have entered Crossroads of Lake Buena Vista.

Now - there you have it!! Happy travels! :drive:

ABC Liquors

Told you she would! ABC Liquour can be very important depending on your camping experience. I've had trips where the booze was the only thing that kept me going! :santa:

While we haven't eaten there I understand the following pizza joint is really good and we might try and eat there this time. It's not too far from WDW/The Crossroads.

Note: the link isn't showing up, but it's Giordanos at
12151 S. Apopka Vineland Rd., Lake Buena Vista, FL 32836

I second Giordano's, wholeheartedly. Best deep dish pizza I've had in a very long time.
