Luggage restrictions ?(Viva Italia)

ABD states a limit of one checked bag, one small bag (carry-on?) & one personnal item per traveler. How stringently is this applied ? My party of three usually uses an extra carry-on sized checked bag for footwear (otherwise our main bags tend to weight to much).

Hi RT ... From a fellow Canadian .. I hope you aren't getting the same storm we are... It's miserable here... Anyway on with your question ... On my ABD last year, I brought 2 large suitcases, 2 carryon sizes, plus a laptop and a backpack (I was going on an 11 day cruise after the tour). They balked on the phone, but when I got there, I didn't have a problem. They transfered all 6 bags for me! I wouldn't worry too much.

We've been on two ABDs this year and we also brought along an extra duffel bag for all the footwear. As MJGirl said, the ABD agent was very firm on the phone about their luggage limits, but the actual ABD guides on the tour were very pleasant and accommodating about the extra bag. They even asked if we needed any additional baggage tags. I think that as long as you're reasonable about it, you'll be fine. ;)

I am booked on the Viva Italia for next September, 2008, and I will have one checked back and one carry on, but I will probably have a shopping bag to carry on when returning home....I hope this will be okay!
